“As it was in the dawn of our days As it will be for all tomorrows To you, my husband, I consecrate all that I am. T’Pel, my wife. From you I receive all that I am. As it was in the beginning, so shall it be now. Two bodies, one mind.“                                                                   - Pon Farr Ritual Lines
Tuvok can have a little overwhelming guilt, sorrow and heartache as a treat. Also, people need to start talking about that fucking Pon Farr opener because it’s hardcore and so loving. Anyway so I was thinking about the fact that pon farr is a bonding ritual which helps to alleviate fever...how intimate that would be and how it’d feel to have to share that kind of thing with a facsimile of the person you care about.  It’s not just sex, it’s love. And Tuvok loves his wife - to the point that even having sex with a hologram that didn’t look like T’Pel was unacceptable to him. To the point that he noticed that her ears were 4 millimeters too long. It must be difficult knowing that your wife is there, waiting for you, still in love with you, but you can’t reach her.  It must be difficult holding a woman who looks almost exactly like your wife but where she had a mind as familiar to you as your own (a mind which was your own, as yours was hers) this woman has only a static buzz and a voice you half-remember. I think it’d be very complicated and painful! And so so interesting! And I was picturing Tuvok, still under the pon farr’s influence, feeling so bad about not being able to control himself and also missing T’Pel and his children and regretting being trapped in the delta quadrant and just like....crying. All of his emotions from the past few years are just bubbling to the surface. And Holo T’Pel doesn’t know. She can’t help him like the real T’Pel could. She can’t receive his telepathic apology or pain or love and he won’t say it out loud because her inability to respond/understand is painful and in his state he feels the pain is deserved. What use would talking to a hologram be? It would just be even more pathetic. But Holo T’Pel sees that he’s crying she asks what’s wrong and when he doesn’t answer she presses their heads together as if they actually could speak properly, telepathically, and know each other. But they can’t.  They are two bodies, two minds. They will never become one.

On Voyager, I wish we got even more snippets of what it’s like for Vorik to keep working under B’Ellana after the whole pon far episode.
They’re all stuck on the ship in the delta quadrant so letting them just fight it out seemed wise on Tuvok’s part, because it’s a xenosexual harassment incident but like…what are you gonna do? After that severe beatdown, it seems like Vorik is just grateful to never speak of it again and to carry on just trying to perform his best. But she’s got to be so annoyed with him all the time. The fact that nothing else super dramatic happens is a credit to both of them. If they weren’t stuck in the delta quadrant, I could see Vorik (voluntarily) being transferred — at least to another department head if not another ship. But they were forced to just work it out. She remains his superior officer. His crush is probably worse than ever because she keeps stepping on him, but for the next seven years he can hold it together. Maybe they’ll get okay enough that he could jokingly take credit for helping her get together with Tom.
Meanwhile every time he sees Tuvok he’s embarrassed for a while too. Tuvok is such a role model and awesome guy and has an eidetic memory and will never forget that he knows way more than is culturally proper. But needs must on Voyager. So they have to just pretend everything is cool too until maybe one day it actually is again.
Imagine the rumors flying around the rest of the crew too. Like, everyone saw or heard about the pon farr thing. Everyone saw him at his worst. Mortifying. I’m not even Vulcan and I’d be begging to transfer.

I'm watching star trek voyager so I'm gonna put my thoughts below & keep adding onto it (yes I'm going from tng -> voy & skipping ds9 for now at least even though I feel like I'm missing out on context bc trekkies seem to hold ds9 as like the gold standard of star trek but I watched a couple episodes & I just couldnt dig it)
the relationship of kes & neelix is so bewildering to me like what does she see in him like hes not even a bad person but he's just a lot dumber than her & has that "where's my hug" type guy energy also he's like so old not even in a sugar daddy way just in a boomer way like doesn't kes's species only live 9 years
I hope tom paris goes through some character development because as of right now he's soooooo annoying like referring to chakotay as an "indian" all the time......ugh one would hope we wouldn't still be doing that in the 25th century also I knew from seeing online discourse that chakotay's writing is stereotypical in a well intentioned but still badly-aged way & it's not ruining the show for me but whenever he closes his eyes & the panflute music kicks in I just sigh deeply
the vidiians are fucking terrifying bruh its giving a cure for wellness
I HATE HISTORICAL REVISIONISM IM SORRY BUT IT WILL NEVER FEEL COMFORTABLE TO ME EVEN IF THEYRE DEAD. NOT THE MARK TWAIN RPF IN TNG NOT THE AMELIA EARHART RPF HERE IT JUST AINT RIGHT
OKAY MAYBE I WAS WRONG WHEN I SAID NEELIX ISNT W BAD GUY BC WHAT DO YOU MEAN KES IS A PREPUBESCENT 2 YEAR OLD
not the voyager defeating an alien by becoming submissive & breedable (of course the voyager has a blue plasma trail & pronouns....)
JANEWAY WANTS CHAKOTAYS DICK SO BAD PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER GIRL WHERES YOUR DECORUM
tuvoks hairline is so fascinating to me
not belanna being lowkey in love with chakotay too & then them showing his bare ass in the next episode....rick berman was on this man like a fat kid on a smartie
FUCK THE KAZON UGLYASS BEASTS
seska needs to be in jail bruh
I SWEAR TO GOD IVE WATCHED ENOUGH STAR TREK THAT I CAN TELL JUST BY THE CAMERA ANGLES WHEN AN EPISODE IS DIRECTED BY JONATHAN FRAKES LIKE HE'S ALWAYS DOING WEIRD DUTCH ANGLE TRACKING SHOTS & STUFF LIKE THAT
so I heard that threshold is like the worst episode in the entirely of star trek & after watching it I honestly dont think it's that bad like sure it's an implausible premise but it's not as bad as like code of honor or sub rosa
NOT BEEF BEING A Q....TWO OF MY WEIRD NERDY INTERESTS ARE OVERLAPPING ALSO THE CAST LIST OF THIS EPISODE SCARES & EXCITES ME. FUCK Q SEXIST ASS MOTHERFUCKER FIRST HE CREEPS ON THAT TEENAGE Q THEN HE KILLS ALYSSA OGAWAS BABY NOW HE SAYS WOMEN CANT BE CAPTAINS & SEXUALLY HARRASSES JANEWAY. DIE.
I always wonder how they get the alien makeup on babies like in this episode with the baby with horns on its head & that one episode of tng where they showed baby borg. also the concept of teleporting a baby out of the womb for an easier delivery is hilarious
tuvok & neelix toxic yaoi?
bruh if this episode is setting up the possibility of suder just letting out his violent impulses one last time & going scorched earth on the kazon & the doctor helping him by means of holographic skulduggery & then tom paris showing up with a cavalry of fucking talaxians to lay the smack down I'm gonna laugh so hard
TOM PARIS FINALLY STARTING TO REDEEM HIMSELF
THE PORTRAYAL OF 1990S EARTH IS SO FUCKING FUNNY TUVOK WEARING A DURAG TO COVER HIS EARS PLEASEEEEE
time travel episodes stress me out so much though like PLEASEEE put the tricorder away. not belanna & chakotay getting kidnapped by hillbillies omg the shots where the guy kicks chakotay & then belanna kicks the guy were edited so weirdly
starling reminds me so much of elon musk
is the alien possessing kes bisexual?
too bad q got to die of old age instead of janeway giving him the electric chair
janeway gettin her lara croft on we love that
why cant vulcans just jack off during pon farr like I thought hand stuff was their whole thing
this isnt voyager specific but shuttlecrafts should really have seatbelts like the amount of times people randomly get injured because turbulence throws them out of their seats....WE SOLVED THIS ISSUE 500 YEARS AGO
not tuvok building the Doohickey
why are they leaving harry unattended on a borg cube WHY DOES STARFLEET NOT MANDATE THE BUDDY SYSTEM HES JUSTA LITTLE GUY & NOW HE'S GOING TO GET ASSIMILATED
WHAT THE JESUS IS THAT
awww bless kes I knew she would leave & I was worried she would die but I'm glad she left on a lighter note
"welcome to the worst day of my life" hi my name is belanna dark'ness dementia raven torres (yes I know losing the warp core is serious but that line was giving "we live in a society")
DID HARRY & SEVEN HAVE SEX. BRUH
eugh I wrote in my other star trek thread that borg assimilation is one thing that just gives me such deep discomfort like even though the borg gradually become sort of overdone the concept of assimilation becomes increasingly terrifying regardless like seven's backstory just creeps me out so much like the concept of her parents just being these sort of rebellious scientists who thought they were gonna make some great discovery out in the delta quadrant (sidenote I hope it gets explained more how exactly they got out there like did they go through a wormhole too?) & just stumbling upon these unimaginable horrors that they had no chance of fight & having to watch as their naivete & hubris destroyed their childs life & everyone they previously knew had no idea where they went or what happened to them EUGH ITS SO CHILLING
wait how did they get the warp core back was I not paying attention
tuvok getting his gilf certificate in the mail we love to see it
species 8472 are terrifying even though the CGI is so low-poly
okay this is a pretty pointless criticism but it annoys me how all the female characters wear heeled boots & on that note the grey turtleneck under the uniforms looks so ugly like post-s3 TNG had the best looking uniforms & this isnt coming from a biased place just bc tng is my favourite (also the movie era uniforms that were red & had random white straps were SO UGLYYYY & DUMB LIKE HOW CAN YOU TELL ANYONES RANK OR DEPARTMENT IF THEYRE ALL RED)
I hate the way the borg queens spine swings around like a cat's tail
opening the episode with harry kim getting his tiddies sucked....ON PRIMETIME TV? IN THE 90S?
I just know that anti-alien-sex law got put into place because of riker
since like late season 3 I'm finally starting to understand why trekkies say janeway has sexual tension with literally everyone
a vulcan shedding a single tear when hearing an artificial lifeform perform a piece of classical music? NOW WHERE HAVE I SEEN THAT BEFORE......*taps chin pensively*
tuvok & neelix detoxified yaoi?
BARCLAY & TROI YASSS
NEVERMIND NOT BARCLAY BACK ON HIS HOLODECK BULLSHIT
not the space Irish again (also from what I've seen irish people are apparently really offended by the irish reunification of 2024 meme <\\\3)
if janeway were alive in 2024 she'd be on tumblr making posts like "I need to get sent to the seaside for my health"
I didnt expect the episode "virtuoso" to suddenly take such a resonant turn but in the age of generative ai it's strangely prophetic
the double whammy of seeing jeffrey combs & the rock as the guest stars in this episode
I got injured the other day & have been pretty much bedbound because of it & whenever a scene takes place in sickbay I think "spare dermal regenerator 🤲"
they bring back kes just to give her makeup that makes her look like Christopher Walken <\\\3
ugh I love troi shes such a queen
why does the borg queen look like this -> 🥺
honestly I'm kinda sad that I'm on the final season
poor tuvok man first he almost gets assimilated, then he gets mind controlled, now hes just trying to fuck but he's thwarted by political tensions
I kind of want to rewatch st: picard since I know seven's backstory now & have the context of the borg's decline like I saw trekkies saying janeway "handled them" but now I know the exact circumstances
omg I know chakotay & seven somehow end up together (at least for a while) when the show ends bc I've had so much of voyager spoiled (tbh that seems to the usual reason i watch shows, I get a bunch of it spoiled & then I'm like "but how do those dots connect") anyway that literally makes no sense bc I can't think of a time theyve ever interacted since seven became a character but like chakotay & janeway were RIGHT THERE THEYVE HAD TENSION SINCE SEASON 1 IM NOT EVEN A SHIPPER CAUSE IDC THAT MUCH BUT IT WAS RIGHT THERE (& I read the wikipedia page for each episode after I watch them cause idk I like learning behind the scenes stuff & in the "reception" section of each page theres always something like "fans were disappointed that janeway & chakotay did not bang like screen doors in this episode") LIKE THE FANS WANTED IT IT WAS A LOGICAL COURSE OF ACTION IT WAS SET UP SINCE SEASON 1 & THE WRITERS CHICKENED OUT. WHY THOUGH?
noooo belanna dont do eugenics ur so sexy aha
POOR TUVOK BRUH SEASON 7 IS JUST A YEAR OF TUVOK SUFFERING
THE DOCTOR MAKING PHANTOM OF THE OPERA REFERENCES....DID HE JUST BECOME MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER (even though he pronounces "fantome" entirely wrong)
"she's suffering from dysphoria syndrome" janeway trans?
I know this show was made in the late 90s/early 2000s but nothing hammers that point home like seeing the same exact fishing rod toy I had as a kid in this episode that aired a month after I was conceived
just when I thought the Q couldnt get more annoying....one of them is a teenage boy
NOT SOME WRITERS BARELY DISGUISED FOOT FETISH SEEPING IN.....I COULD NEVER BE AN ACTRESS
one thing that has never stopped annoying me is the fact that we literally see naomi wildman be born onscreen & then she goes from newborn -> 9 year old over the course of like 2 seasons
okay I finished it & I'll need more time to collect my thoughts but the basic idea is: I liked the show but I feel like there was lots of possibilities that went unexplored but one thing I especially liked is that unlike TNG (which is still my favourite trek) the female characters got storylines that didnt just revolve around interpersonal stuff (ie. family/romance) but actually got to use their specific skills
but now I'm rewatching the first couple episodes of because I honestly had no idea what was going on (I didn't even realize the doctor was a hologram until like halfway through season 1 & I didn't realize tuvok was spying on the maquis until like season 3) & one thing I have noticed is that NEELIX WAS SO FUCKING UNHINGED IN THE FIRST EPISODE LIKE HE COMES OFF LIKE HEATH LEDGER AS THE JOKER IN THAT SCENE WHERE HE VIDEOCALLS VOYAGER & STRUTTING AROUND THE TRANSPORT ROOM IN HIS PIMP COAT & ALL THE WATER STUFF LIKE WHO IS THIS MAN also belanna's makeup was so bad I'm sorry <\\\3

Thoughts on Spock and T'Pring's new relationship in SNW
{Episode 1x01}
I know its been a few weeks but this has been stuck in my mind this whole time. Soon after the first episode aired I started hearing complaints about how they portrayed Spock and T'Pring in it. As well as concerns about what this means for general Vulcan culture. As someone who watched it and immediately started to work the new information into my broader understanding of Star Trek Lore I thought I'd share with you guys my thoughts on it.
Some of it is an extension on what's already been established in canon and some of it is me attempting to explain things that on first glance seems like it goes against it. And yes, all of these are actual complaints I've seen about the episode.
Oh yes, and if it wasn't obvious: minor spoilers for the episode.
Whats with the Query/Response thing? Its ridiculous.
It's apparently a formal version of small talk. Up to this point, we haven't seen any two Vulcans having a conversation without a distinct purpose. Whereas Spock and T'Pring here are in a public location on their date. Both also belong to families with relatively high status. (Which could imply a sort of high society thing) They seem to have been following some standard courting path this past year. And are also following some standard decorum for conversations in public.
Why is Spock smiling? Why is T'Pring smiling?
I've seen other people try to explain how Spock is freer with his emotions here than in TOS so I won't expand on that. Rather, I think there is a simpler explanation: it's puppy love. What we're seeing is the vulcan version of puppy love. I personally do not hate that the show writers are canonizing the idea that Vulcan relationships can be just as variably romantic as human ones. (They already kinda did if you pay attention to Tuvoks feelings about his wife) Presumably, if they actually had gone through with their marriage they would have eventually adopted the more disciplined state that we're used to.
Werent they already arranged to be married? Why are they proposing now?
Okay, first thing to remember is Spock and T'Pring werent married yet even by Amok Time. The ceremony where Spock went through pon farr was meant to double as a wedding. Don't misunderstand, Vulcan couples don't HAVE to wait till the fever to get married. They can have their wedding whenever they want. Amok Time just showed what happens when they wait too long. Anyway, I believe it's a bit of a misnomer that they are being arranged to be married. I mean, yes, marriage is the eventual goal here. But the ceremony that links their minds does just that. Its supposed to direct their sexual urges to a specific place and keep everything consensual. If they don't have a preset bond, they just pick their own mate. And well, Voyager's episode on the matter shows how well that goes when the partner they chose isn't willing. Thus, it's left up to the couple on whether they want to develop their relationship in a more romantic manner. Or more likely, use the dating period to get to know their future partner and hash out some marriage logistics.
I thought Spock hadnt seen T'Pring since they were bonded as children.
I don't blame you. That's probably what the original writers intended. But they never actually make Spock say outright he hadn't seen her since then.
Why are they kissing like humans? They already have the ozh'esta, they should be doing that.
I've never really liked the whole idea that kissing with your lips is a purely human thing that Vulcans don't do. Especially since A. they can enjoy lip kissing and B. there are many other species in the galaxy that also kiss 'the human way'. Although yeah I'm with you that they should have had them do the vulcan kiss. They definitely missed the mark on that. But I promised I'd explain this stuff so here we go. I have two possible reasons for why they might have done it this way. One is that T'Pring is ceding to Spock's human side (not reluctantly you might note). The other is that lip kissing has a different meaning to Vulcans than the finger touches. We only see it in two contexts both at the other ends of the spectrum. One as a chaste expression of love, the other as an intense expression of lust (or so we assume based on the reactions of those involved). Lip kissing could be an emotional reaction that fits under neither of those categories, or is simply used in a different context than any finger kisses we've seen so far.
Oh, so in Vulcan society, the female is the one who proposes?
Possibly? I dislike the lore restrictions that this take creates, matriarchal society or not. I have a better idea if you wish to hear it. The responsibility of proposing is determined by some other factor in the engagement which would be known to both parties early on. For example, if T'Prings family was the one to approach Spock's with the intention to bond their children. This would fulfill the requirement for formal rule and explain why Spock expected T'Pring to ask the final question. Consider the other two marriage proposals by Vulcans. Koss who approached T'Pol first. And Vorik who also approached B'lanna first.
They can have sex outside of pon farr?
Yes, the writers have confirmed this a long time ago. That's what all the fanfiction from the last 55 years or so has been based around.
Their sex scene came from something out of romcom Hollywood. Shouldnt it be more alien?
Well, to be fair, they didn't get far enough into their intimacy for us to see whether it's truly different from humans. Secondly, I am fascinated to hear what you would suggest as an alternative. Keep in mind that Sarek and Amanda were sexually compatible as well as Trip and T'Pol. So you cant suggest anything not involving either sexual organ. Because I'm pretty sure anything sufficiently alien would bump its rating way too high for mainstream television. And just saying kink is alien sex would be an insult to all of BDSM as well as just as creatively boring as anything else canon trek has done with alien sexuality.
[Crossposted to my Reddit, so don't worry if you see it there]

Happy Blood Fever Day!!!
Tumblr media
Oh Blood Fever, you glorious Star Trek Voyager episode! Blood Fever first aired February 5, 1997, when I was an impressionable teen with a huge crush on Tom Paris. I was already hooked on Voyager and was shipping P/T, so this episode was like seeing all of my shipping hopes and dreams come true.
It's easy to look at this episode and think of all tropes that make it so much fun. We've got sex pollen, fuck or die, trapped together (not only that but trapped with heightened hormones!), having to fight for your lover, flirting, witty banter-this episode has it all!
Yet Blood Fever is really so much more than that.
Tumblr media
We've seen Tom and B'Elanna dancing around each other for some time now. They started out not quite as enemies, but they disliked each other. And slowly they came to see that they were very similar-they found in each other someone who understood and could see past their walls. They pushed and challenged each other and a friendship formed. And it was a fun friendship with lots of flirting and chemistry.
Tumblr media
But Tom knew he had to take it slow. B'Elanna was not going to fall for his usual charms and that made her special. She was different. And B'Elanna was not going to let her guard down until she felt she could really trust Tom. But the attraction was there and flirting was fun.
So when B'Elanna gets stricken with Pon Farr, it makes sense that the person she would feel a bond with, that she would choose as her mate would be Tom. This wasn't simply a case of we're trapped in a cave and you're my option. It was more of a my inhibitions have been lowered and I'm finally letting myself admit what I've been feeling.
Tumblr media
Yet when Tom is presented with what he has been wanting, he shows his true self. We've been led to believe that Tom is a ladies man, that he's out to flirt and sleep his way around. But this episode shows that has all been a cover and who he really is is a man who cares and who cares deeply. He tells B'Elanna that he can't accept because she's not in her right mind to give consent. That if he gives in now, it will ruin any chance of a relationship they might have in the future and he cares about her too much to do that. I also think he's starting to realize that he wants something more with B'Elanna-this isn't a fling, but the real deal and he doesn't want to do anything to jeopardize that.
His rejection stings. The way B'Elanna thinks he doesn't want her hurts. The way Tom thinks that she's only telling him she's interested because of the Pon Farr and not letting himself believe that she is finally telling the truth. Those walls come right back up. But for a moment we see what the two of them can't quite see yet-that they really, truly care about each other and that this is more than flirtation.
Sure, this episode has the first P/T kiss. There are so many great lines! And let's be honest, that whole cave scene, with the wrist lights-it's hot!
But more than that, this episode made a big impression on me for three reasons:
Tumblr media
1. Consent is sexy: Tom says no because he doesn't have B'Elanna's consent and knows it would be taking advantage of her. He's even hesitant to comply with Tuvok's order to relieve her of the Pon Farr because he knows B'Elanna is not in the right frame of mind. He doesn't jump at this chance, but talks to B'Elanna, tells her he understands, that they don't have to do this. He waits until she gives the ok and even then, he's hesitant and waiting for her lead. This was huge, especially for the 90's when this episode aired. Tom puts B'Elanna first-her feelings, her thoughts, her consent. And that is very powerful and sexy.
Tumblr media
2. Strong women are sexy: B'Elanna is often seen as a tough Klingon who is to be feared. So often strong women are presented in a way that is not attractive or that they can't be strong and smart and also be sexy. But B'Elanna proves all of that wrong here as she shows that strong women are absolutely hot.
(Also bonus, my girl punches Vorik who absolutely needed to punished in this episode!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. It's ok to be vulnerable: At the end, Tom says that B'Elanna is afraid her Klingon side was showing, meaning her strong-willed, forceful side. She's also embarrassed that she let her mask slip in the caves-she told Tom the truth (even if he doesn't believe it), she let her guard down, and she had moments of vulnerability. And instead of running away, Tom is right there for it, staying by her side, and encouraging this side of her-both her strong side and her softer, vulnerable side. He says he wants to see it again and in his flirtatious way, shows that it's not something to embarrassed or afraid about-it's something to be proud of.
Tumblr media
This episode taught me that it's ok to be a strong woman who knows what she wants. And it's also ok to be vulnerable. I wanted to be like B'Elanna when I grew up and I hope that I'm doing her at least a little proud.
So let's raise a glass to Lisa Klink (writer extraordinaire) for creating this marvelous episode! To Tom and B'Elanna-the best Trek couple! Happy Blood Fever Day!

Ok so like. Y'all probably know I'm basically watching Voyager for Tuvok (the other characters are growing on me, but I have mostly been anticipating Tuvok, Harry Kim, and Vorik, whenever tf he shows up), so I think extra hard about the episodes that focus on him.
But MAN Flashback was on a whole other level! It was so good!! The fuckin drama of it all, like. It was so cool to get a glimpse into his rebellious "Starfleet sucks and humans don't make sense and my parents are exerting too much pressure on me" kinda phase, plus like. The fact that due to his long lifespan, he served with Hikaru Sulu (which. Was a fucking delight to watch. I am always happy to hear the dulcet tones of George Takei <3), a man who lived long enough ago that technology has utterly changed, to the point that his portrait doesn't look like him. The fact that after Tuvok quit Starfleet he tried to gain wisdom for years and tried to regulate his emotions and achieve a better state of logic, something that was so difficult, and he was interrupted from his goals by his first Pon Farr, yet another thing out of his control pulling his life's trajectory for him...and of course the fact that practically the whole episode takes place in a mind meld!! And that Tuvok and Janeway are such close friends that he basically counts her as family, to the point that he is utterly comfortable with her liteRALLY VIEWING HIS MEMORIES, WALKING AROUND IN HIS MIND, KNOWING HIM AT HIS MOST INTIMATE, SEEING HIM IN MOMENTS OF SUCH INTENSITY

I'm gonna remember ST Voy from season 1 to 5, maybe some of the 6. Because Season 7 was a race to ruin each beloved character. Boring plots, and evil writers trying to mock the fandom.
So, do you think Harry is a sweet and handsome prince? But his armpits smell bad and he snorts.
Do you think B'elanna would have a healing arc by embracing her Klingon side? But she can turn into a psycho.
Look at the icy Borg now cooking and just falling in love with Chakotay from nowhere.
Oh and Neelix like rough sex with a Klingon.
What about Tuvok having his Pon Farr and being more human than Vulcan?
Wait let's make Chakotay and Janeway fight all the time.
My husband and I ask ourselves : Which character will be ruined in today's episode?
This really needs a fanfiction hard work to rewrite all the mess.

Tell me your Star Trek blorbo shitto deebies!!!!!! (Even tho I wont be able to understand any of it, but its the spirit that counts!!!)
SO MANY SERIES TO CHOOSE FROM NOW you may get several for each because SO MANY CHARACTERS!!! also i'm sorry about this wall of text. That's what happens when you let me talk about Star Trek.
blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most)
Currently I'm thinking most about Garak but as for Trek as a whole, Spock. I'm basic I guess lmao
But since I've got you here, let me also mention Tuvok, because I took one look at him and just went "Who gave him a right to be this pretty" because this is one incredibly pretty man, and I wanted to talk about him for a moment bc i love him. And he loves his wife. Like they're 70000 light years away from his wife, but he twice sees her (it's complicated), and both times, he looks as if she's just the most beautiful thing he's ever seen in his entire life, and just. C'mon you gotta love a guy so devoted to his beloved. And he just like, adopts all kids who need someone. "Oh you're stuck on this planet with no adults? All right, I'll make sure you're safe, that is perfectly logical even if I have to break 20 different Starfleet rules for this."
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped)
ALL the Vorta! All of them! THEY'RE THE PHYSICAL MANIFESTATION OF 🥺 (they're also religious fanatics but that's not the point here). I see one, and that one ends up doing some messed up shit and then I see their face and it's just 🥺 AND I HAVE THE INTENSE NEED TO RUN UP AND HUG THEM! (and then i get a knife in my back probably but that's okay i can... i can't live with that obviously but it'd be worth it.) (Especially Weyoun 6 though, he's THE BABIEST, he eats pepperoni pizza with chopsticks and he's like the only one I could probably hug without getting stabbed.
Also Phlox from ENT. I just see him and I wanna squish/squeeze his cheeks like I do with Charlie. Sadly Denobulan men don't like being touched so no Phlox cheek squishies for me 😔
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave)
Travis Mayweather!! They did him so dirty, "this is a main character" AND THEN HE GETS LIKE ONE LINE PER EPISODE AND THAT'S IT! 😭😭😭😭 I remember the first time he was shown with short sleeves, I have come out of that episode a changed man I tell you. But aside from him being Very Attractive, he had so much potential! Enterprise's Enterprise is the very first one, and cargo ships are slow, so there isn't really much space "tourism" for humans, meaning that few people are used to being in space 24/7, but Travis was born on a cargo ship, and grew up there, so he has so much experience being in space! He gets ONE single focus episode, and it's super interesting - He loves his family, but also had to leave them for years at a time because not only does his ship go pretty far away from Earth etc, his family's ship is also not on Earth frequently, meaning even less meeting time! And e.g. his brother saw it almost as betrayal that he left, bc cargo ships are very tight-knit - they gotta be, you're stuck together for long times in pretty close quarters, after all - and new hands are hard to come by, so like, there was so much to explore! He had a map in his room back on his home ship of all the planets he wanted to see! LET HIM SEE THEM, STAR TREK, LET TRAVIS SEE THOSE PLANETS!!!
Also Uhura from The Original Series, she is such an interesting character, a decent engineer (at least when it comes to her comm system), made bridge officer, can sing and dance and likes teasing her fellow officers a bit... Her with more focus would've been 🥺💕
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week)
VORIK! VORIK MY BELOVED! He's just so AHHHHH I love him so much!!! And some parts of the fandom are... not kind to him, because the most focus he got in his Pon Farr episode, which makes Vulcans very irrational. Like, his actions weren't right, but Spock almost murdered his best friend and no one gives him any shit for it, I think we can give Vorik a break. And when he's currently not in fuck-or-die-mode, he's a perfectly nice fella! Like, very polite, good engineer, is willing to wear Hawaiian shirts and leis despite being a Stoic Vulcan (TM). Oh to relax at a beach with Vorik...
poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave)
I really want to name Garak because he sure is Problematic(TM) (Ex-torturer who tortures someone on screen and literally says the words "Don't tell me you'd object to a little genocide?"), but he's also a fan-favorite. And I already used Vorik before (... that sounded dirty i'm sorry). And I a) already used Weyoun and b) he's also pretty popular for a minor character (even tho he also does not object to genocide, and suggests killing everyone on Earth. Each and every human.)
Sooo I'm gonna go with Dukat. Yes he's awful, he's cruel, he's a dictator, his ego is so big I'm amazed it fits onto a space station. But have you considered. That uhhh. He's hot? (or maybe i just have a thing for lizard aliens idk). Nah but really, like, Dukat is a very interesting villain because he so whole-heartedly believes he's the good guy. He isn't. But he's so convinced, and absolutely flabbergasted that other people don't see him as such. And he came so so close to a redemption arc! This close! But then he chose otherwise. And then he became a cult leader. But anyway. Like, just all the potentials - What if he had done that heel-face-turn and gone through his redemption arc? Had realized that, woops, he was in fact not the Awesome Hero he thought he was? Tried to make amends where possible, and just did his best to now actually do good? None of it happened, but it was an actual possibility, and I'm a sucker for redemption arcs. Also, he's just so enjoyable to watch! Dude's got an ego the size of two planets, but also a lot of charisma lmao. And have I mentioned he's hot?
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason)
... Also Dukat. I tried not to name anyone twice but you have no idea how fun it is to see him lose his damn smug smile and see him think "oh shit". Also that one scene where Nerys threw a teacup at his face? Immaculate. Or that one where he sat down on a spikey rock (i usually refer to it lovingly as "the butt scene" bc it's a lot of time of Dukat shoving his ass into the camera while Nerys has to get the rock out). I want to see Nerys break his nose. Punch him good. Maybe a kick in the jaw when he's down, make him lose some of his lizard teeth.
Special shoutout though to Miles O'Brien, the official writers' little Plinko Horse. So many DS9 episode are dedicated to "Make O'Brien Suffer", special mention to "His wife was possessed by evil spirits threatening to kill her if he didn't do what they asked", "His daughter got stuck in the stong age for 10 years before they could get her back and now has to cope with the aftermath of spending 10 years all alone", "He actually died to radiation poisoning and was replaced by his temporal time travel clone (which is never mentioned again)" and "He spent 20 years in prison where he was forced to kill his best friend and develops severe PTSD from it (which is also never mentioned again)".
eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell)
Mora Pol for being a shitty dad, and then coming in and deciding to also be a shitty granddad. "Oh it worked" well fuck off Odo's way is SO much better. And also Pulaski for being mean to Data >:( (though honestly for her I'd rather send the writers, her main issue was that they tried doing "McCoy from TOS but a woman", which did not work bc McCoy bickered with someone who could sass him to the moon and back while Pulaski insulted someone who could not sass her back)

Whenever the Voyager crew get brainwashed by aliens, Tuvok always has such a Bad Time due to his telepathy.
He’s always remembering their real lives and struggling and being sedated and hurt and mentally attacked and exhausted.
I am feeling so bad for him in particular in that season 7 2-parter where he’s basically medically tortured the whole time because his awesome Vulcan brain keeps insisting on pushing the truth of his real identity to the surface. I know that episode had a lot of distractions like Janeway getting laid and Paris living his dream to be a cute, unserious barkeep, but I couldn’t help but feel awful for Tuvok.
Telepathy seems to have some real pros and cons in the delta quadrant, where for millions of kilometers of space telepathy is illegal and he and others have to hide in storage crates like omg Tuvok having the worst time. Not to mention that time he had to go through pon farr with a holodeck version of his wife and the damned program kept flickering out due to power fluctuations. Remember when they checked in with him during it like oh sorry Tuvok our bad hope ur ok, and he was probably balls deep in air like yeah um this sucks.

So I had an interesting conversation over discord with @dude-what-am-i-even-doing and I cracked the fucking code. What code you may ask?
"It's pon farr night at the Vulcan night club"
But before I talk about that, I must first digress into a headcanon of mine: Tuvok used to be a complete party animal. He knows not only how to get a Vulcan hammered, but knows how to mix drinks to get at least 17 species shitfaced.
My evidence for this:
It's canon he was a rebellious teen which on Vulcan is obviously a MUCH bigger deal
In Riddles it's revealed Tuvok is an expert at making sweets, though he hasn't in a long time. Sugar gets Vulcans drunk.
Honestly have you listened to how Tuvok talks? How completely sassy he is? Like Vulcans are already sassy but he's got it fucking down. He's got experience.
This headcanon spawned a few other scenarios where Tuvok helps Cadet Janeway loosen up, and while they were funny, I hit a snag.
Tuvok is over 100 years old; he couldn't have been at the academy while Janeway was a cadet.
My workaround for this was remembering Tuvok was an instructor at one point but then I got to thinking, "what were Tuvok's academy years like?"
And this brings me back to "It's pon farr night at the Vulcan nightclub."
There's a lot of odd things about this line:
This is said by an alien masquerading as a human in a fake Starfleet Headquarters. How would this Delta Quadrant alien know what Pon farr is?
Seriously there's 2 pon farr episodes in Voyager and the only reason Tom knows what's happening in the second one is cause in the first one B'Elanna got fucked up by Vorik and he had to help her
Even if that particular random member of Species 8472 had read enough information and sifted through enough archives to know what Pon Farr is, why would she have said it? Chakotay was masquerading as another member of the species, it's hella odd to flirt using the mating season of another species, especially with how secret Pon Farr actually is
I'm still going on about this why would all of Species 8472 think it important to know that one species of the Federation mates violently every few years
Why would there be a Vulcan nightclub? They're Vulcans for God's sake.
Even if there was a Vulcan nightclub there's no way in hell they'd have a special day named after Pon Farr like I said it's supposed to be secret.
AND even if you try to explain it away as "well it's a simulation right maybe Species 8472 just made it themselves" Species 8472 took immense care to make the environment as accurate as possible.
So all of this makes the line, on its own, really fucking weird (of course you can say it's just a cheeky reference but that's lame).
And this brings me back to Tuvok. Tuvok is over 100 years old. In this particular episode, he's 111. He entered the academy over 80 years ago.
Remember that "party animal Tuvok" headcanon I mentioned?
I propose, that Tuvok, in a drunken act, with a 23rd century equivalent of a lampshade over his head, once got shitfaced and shouted "It's Pon Farr night!" Before continuing other drunken shenanigans.
I propose the incident became notorious among cadets, and over time the phrase ended up becoming a colloquialism for getting fucked up, despite the fact that none of them know the true meaning of the phrase.
TL;DR: "It's Pon Farr night at the Vulcan nightclub" is the result of Tuvok getting shitfaced a long time ago and the phrase ended up becoming popular without the other cadets truly understanding its meaning.

Chiaroscuro. From the Italian, meaning light-dark. It’s a method that artists employ in paintings, drawings, photographs, and film to paint a picture using light and shadow, strong contrasts of highlight and darkness to make the subject appear (in paintings) three demential and immediate. The background falls away and the eye is drawn to most import and immediate aspects of the picture. It’s stunning, and sometimes shocking, and leaves an emotional impression with the viewer.
Tumblr media
Blood Fever, s3 ep 16, is a masterpiece of the art, imo. It’s visually stunning. The use of limited lighting in some of the scenes on Voyager, hand-held, away team ‘wrist lights’ by Tom & B’Elanna when they’re trapped in the tunnels, and the dappled sunlight on the planet’s surface ramped up the emotional impact of a storyline that was all emotion anyway. From B’Elanna’s excitement at the thought of revamping her warp coils, to her embarrassment and shock over Vorik’s proposal and subsequent attack, to her own gradually escalating emotional imbalance once her blood fever started to take hold, (and let’s not forget Vorik’s own impulse to warp 10 outbursts of primal rage) the use of light and shadow became another character in this episode. Kudos to Lisa Klink (who else?!) and Andrew Robinson, in order: writer & director, and Roxann Dawson & Robert Duncan McNeill (yes, I have to look up how to spell his name every damn time), and Alexander Enberg for their outstanding work!
This is my own Blood Fever week ....don’t I wish! Actually, I just reached BF this week with my crappy collages, and I realized that I couldn’t limit myself to just Tom Tuesday & Torres Thursday. And even after adding a tribute to Vorik on Wednesday, I’m not done. So today’s post will be (yet again) a series of crappy collages in tribute to the stunningly beautiful cinematography in this episode.
Let’s start with an example of flat, ordinary lighting. Tom reacting to B’Elanna’s frenetic explanation & actions when she’s briefing him & Neelix about the mission before they beam down to the surface.
Tumblr media
Because I took about 400 screen shots of this ep - most out of order - I’ll jump ahead in the episode and contrast that with a shot of B’Elanna in the tunnel, after she’s bitten Tom, run off, been found by Tom, Chakota, & Tuvok, and wrestled the gun away from the unnamed native Sikarian. The episode is chaotic & frenetic, and this little photo essay will be too!
Tumblr media
B’Elanna is the focus here, as she is in most of the tunnel scenes. Tom isn’t incidental, like say Chakotay, but he’s more often muted than starkly contrasted. I like to think it’s because he’s torn, suspended between his own inner light & dark: he wants nothing more than to believe all the sweet words B’Elanna tells him about her secret desire for him, but he knows that it’s just the pon farr talking.
Back to B’Elanna. We get to clearly see that she’s slipped from the zipped up, boots polished, perfectly applied lipstick & helmet hair chief engineer, and yes, her condition is absolutely going to become as bad as Tuvok fears. Just give it time.
Backtracking to the bite... Alas, I had to lighten this pic just a smidge because I couldn’t count on it not just looking like a black square, but I’m swooning at the play of light on B’Elanna’s cranial ridges.
Tumblr media
But Tom does get to shine after B’Elanna has run off down the tunnel, when he hails Voyager & lets slip in front of the entire bridge crew that she bit him. His hands are the focus as he’s attempting to track her life signs, but the director could have easily had Neelix shine his own wrist light on Tom. Instead, his face is barely lit & that bite noticeable but not glaringly obvious. We all know what it means when a Klingon bites someone on the face, but did she bite him because she wants him, or because she simply wants?
Tumblr media
Because I don’t know how long I can make a tumblr post, I’m going to throw down some pics without much comment. Really, they’re so gorgeous, they speak for themselves. Cave kisses:
Tumblr media
B’Elanna, after Tom has pushed her off of him:
Tumblr media
And more, from earlier, of them trapped in the cave when she doesn’t comprehend what all the fuss is about and why everyone insists there’s something wrong with her:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Here’s Tom & B’Elanna in the dappled sunlight on the surface of the planet after they’ve accepted the reality that they‘re going to have to have sex to break the pon farr:
Tumblr media

B'Elanna Torres for the character ask! (or Janeway if you prefer :) )
1: sexuality headcanon - Bi cause like everything is better when everyone is Bi 🤣🤣🤣
2: otp - B’Elanna/Tom (I know so boring but I do like their growth and their journey together)
3: brotp - B’Elanna/Harry (Garret brings it up a lot on the Delta Flyers podcast)
4: notp - B’Elanna/Seven
5: first headcanon that pops into my head - B’Elanna smacking Chakotay on the back of the head every time he goes to her to whine about how much he loves Janeway yet he never makes a move 🤣🤣🤣
6: favorite line from this character - “WARP PARTICLES”
7: one way in which I relate to this character - She’s angry (and she bottles it up a lot) but her anger doesn’t make her less. It doesn’t negate how brilliant or awesome and badass she is. She knows how to challenge her anger.
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character - The episode where she starts going through Pon Farr 🙃
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? - cinnamon roll and I’ll fight anyone who disagrees
I’m gonna do Janeway too cause I can 🤣🤣🤣
1: sexuality headcanon - Bi (please see above)
2: otp - Janeway/Chakotay
3: brotp - Janeway/Tuvok 😭
4: notp - Janeway/Seven (I can definitely see why people ship it but there’s too much “I want to mentor her” on Janeway’s side for it not to feel like grooming to me)
5: first headcanon that pops into my head - Janeway had to lie down while planting tomatoes on New Earth thanks to the vigorous pounding she got from Chakotay the night before 🤣🤣🤣
6: favorite line from this character - “There’s coffee in that Nebula”
7: one way in which I relate to this character - she feels like she always has to be in control and like same
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character - “delete the wife” 🤣🤣🤣
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? - problematic fave but I’ll still fight people who completely miss-read her thanks to misogyny
Thanks for asking 😀

trekathon: enterprise “in a mirror, darkly”
season 4 episodes 18 & 19:
oh my god, the first contact music 💗😭
the opening sequence to the enterprise mirror universe eps really is inspired. i also like to imagine the composer metaphorically tossing it down on a table in front of all the fans who’ve been complaining for four years like “HERE’S YOUR FUCKING INSTRUMENTAL OPENING THEME” and storming out
i’ve been breaking up the discovery recaps because there are 19 concurrent plots and i’m trying to keep them straight, but i feel like a stream-of-consciousness bullet point experience is appropriate here:
those of you watching today will never know the special delight that mirror captain forrest brought to internet nerd fans back in the day. the site television without pity used to write snarky tv show recaps, and keckler, who wrote the enterprise recaps week to week, decided early on that admiral forrest was such a boring character that he must be evil -- and so after 3-some years of calling him “evil admiral forrest,” him showing up in the mirror universe was like prophecy coming to pass
mirror phlox and reed developed the agonizer booth!
apparently non-terran rebellions against the empire are a recurring concern
mirror!travis is REAL hot
they’re all hot but travis? with that earring? and that hair? dang.
i think we can all agree that phlox is the creepiest mirror version, just casually performing live vivisections of random animals with a smile 😬
i’m glad discovery went the full-on sexy leather uniform route instead of just slapping some pins and patches on the existing uniform style and putting the ladies in crop tops
mirror!t’pol going through pon farr (and ~ahem~ asking trip to help her out) raises my continuing question about how and when pon farr affects female vulcans
does it just kick in at some point, like with vulcan men? is it connected to their bond-mate? should i be worried about tuvok’s wife is what’s behind my question
mirror archer is such a hopeless disaster and hoshi very obviously like “wow... those orgasms... so great... 🙄” really gives me life
vulcan bowl-cut rebellion!!
the vulcan science directorate has found no evidence of alternate realities
given it is ALSO going to be time travel, the vulcan science directorate’s about to take a double hit
okay okay space science time! tricobalt device + gravity well of dead star -> interphasic rift to other universe
i don’t know why trip saying “so what?” is so funny
i totally forgot the suliban had cloaking technology by the way
i also forgot how great the enterprise transporter effect is!!
okay now i want to watch “the tholian web.” star trek marathons are not linear
mirrror!malcolm getting horny for future phasers is very on brand
tos sound effects 🥰
honestly impressed they even have escape pods in the mirror universe
i assume they’re all on the evil line of the alignment chart, but i guess that makes captain forrest lawful evil, hoshi neutral evil, and archer chaotically unhinged evil
part ii!!!
“release the ducking clamps!” bakula why
t’pol’s orange eyeshadow is quite a look
on-screen text falls into the “canon if i feel like it” zone as far as i’m concerned, but i love that archer’s profile starts with: “charming, bold,”
apparently he was the starfleet chief of staff, the ambassador to andoria, and the president!! of the federation!!!!
the best part is that when i paused it to read, the closed caption says [LAUGHING]
our babes look so good in velour
GORN!
disaster mirror archer hallucinating prime!archer is an entire thing i’m not even sure how to deal with
a cgi gorn was a bad call from start to finish. this isn’t a 16 years on thing. they did their best, but it was ridiculous then too.
shakespeare’s plays are “equally grim in both universes”
omg travis high-kicking the admiral
archer parading around the shuttlebay of the admiral’s nx-01 ship, making a dramatic speech to about 18 people all looking either bored or concerned. i love that they chose to make this entire episode about what a clown mirror archer is
those 18 people include two vulcans, an andorian, a denobulan, and an orion, and we saw a tellarite officer earlier. during this period in history there are a significant number of aliens serving on starfleet ships -- as opposed to Just T’Pol in the prime universe. they’re all second-class citizens, but they hold officer ranks. in the discovery era, i don’t think we see any non-terrans holding military positions.
okay actually given that they successfully take over a ship i can see why that policy doesn’t last
i have a specific desire to see t’pol with hyper realistic disco spock style ears
i love that even mirror hoshi protects phlox 🥺
i would like to thank the director of this episode for the artistic decision to only show archer and hoshi hooking up in silhouette form
“it may take centuries, but humanity will pay for its arrogance” YES i love that connection to the ds9 mirror universe eps
they really can design the heck out of a negligee in the mirror universe can’t they
hoshi and travis making out!!!!
honestly i don’t think hoshi had a long game here? i buy her being content as forrest’s captain’s woman, but then archer betrayed forrest and she wanted revenge, and then forrest died so she had nothing to go back to, and then it’s like “well i was going to go for tenure but now that i’m here i might as well rule the empire”

voyager s03e16 blood feast was entirely too much for my human soul. woof. i’ve never felt so awkward watching an episode of star trek in my life. why’d the writers have to go and do that to my boy vorik.
(wait, i’m now being told that the episode is actually called “blood fever”)
this of course depends on future episodes, but i will say that tom and b’elanna is maybe the first star trek canon het ship i’ve ever actually kind of liked?* their scenes together were pretty hot, all things considered, and i really liked tom’s stance on consent (i did not like tuvok’s though, wtf?). i unfortunately have BEEN in torres’ position before, being an insane horny person coming onto someone who was most likely interested but still trying to respect me, except i wasn’t going through the pon farr, it was whiskey and going off my antidepressants! same thing! very embarrassing!
(*well, i kind of liked worf and jadzia too, if it weren’t for worf’s characterization in certain episodes. maybe i’m just a klingon-f*cker.)
also, roxann dawson being 6 years older than robert duncan mcneill is refreshing for a show that paired KES with NEELIX...
...WAIT, ANDREW ROBINSON WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS EPISODE? i need to lie down.
