I started watching The Alienist expecting the hot main character to be misunderstood by his peers but being always right despite not being listened to, and I'm delighted to see that, though he is seen as a weird guy, he's actually not that good of a psychiatrist. Like, it's so funny how on edge he is whenever someone in the team -he assembled himself- points something that he doesn't like out. He's flustered when a woman makes innuendos at him, he gets tricked by a child killer's fake crying, and he gets angry when the only woman in his team suggests something that he has never read in any of his books. He's a fucking crybaby with so much issues, it's so funny to see him going around thinking he's so clever when he's actually full of shit!! I really love it because he's not a good man, but he's still intriguing. Not to say that, being incarnated by Daniel Brühl makes him so much more interesting (He's hot. Really, he's fucking hot.)

I'm only halfway through the first season, but it's a really pleasant show!

I never expected The Alienist to give me a heroine who ends up single! Finished watching it on Valentine's Day of all days, lol. I thought they'd pair her up with John, but they didn't, even though it looked like it was going that way. They actually reminded me a bit of Karen and Graham of Daisy Jones and the Six.

Also a female character running her own detective agency (in S2), that's what we're her for!

The name is Sara Howard and she's played by Dakota Fanning.

random as hell but i did the math (likely wrong but we ball) and found out that every 17.9 (round up its 18 btw) The Alienist fics, my blorbo is in one. 18:1. And the book literally opens up with his death in 1919

What the fuck do I have to do to get more content that is NOT one mention in 50k words because most fics with him tagged is just a simple passing mention. so technically that's probably 24:1 or 28:1. I know I'm complaining but he did NOT get the first few pages of the book all to himself just for that
