this rewatch really reminds me how much I hated the other characters on Caroline's behalf in the early days smh. Bonnie’s (snapping at her) “why would you [let him bite you]” + complete innaction or comfort when you KNOW how she’d react if Elena was the one hurt (she was too busy trying to light up candles while Caroline tried to talk to her ffs). Elena "Caroline has many annoying qualities...” while a 20+ guy talks about how he doesn’t want to fuck her anymore; her “I’m not gonna be one of those pathetic girls whose world stops spinning because of some guy” in clear veiled reference of her; her “unbelievable. it’s like nothing happen” the episode after she finds out Damon was hurting her and she's trying to go on with her life. Matt’s... everything. let’s not even get into Stefan and fucking Damon... I really couldn’t be happier that she ends up better than all of them <3

I'm ashamed of my Vampire Diaries fan background but actors that appeared there keep showing up on new shows @dustlines and I watch, and it makes her curious about TVD (she's never watched it), so we started watching season 1 tonight, and oh boy, I live for her commentary. I have to share, because her brain is brilliant and she makes me laugh so much.
S1E1+E2:
- HE DOESN'T NEED THIS HE NEEDS TO BE D*CKED DOWN, DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND, ALENA
- is Uncle a euphemism for gay lover
- "cute becomes dumb in an instant" ARE YOU ALLOWED TO SAY THAT TO A STUDENT, SIR
- He looks like he m*sturbates to yearbook photos
- I don't have the stomach to be a vampire
- I'm sitting here like "STEFAN, HOW OLD ARE YOU, AND HOW OLD IS SHE"
- he rolls so much on his feet I'm surprised his ankles are okay
- So basically he became a "vegan' vampire and now the other vampires are like "YOU SOY BOY"
- Elena realizes she's not the only girl in the world and feels like pop music has failed her
- I would've just been like eh tv violence whatever but now I'm like WOMANLY RAGE
- SHE'S VULNERABLE - YOU DESERVE TO BE SHOT, MISTER
- i was like WHOA BUDDY LESS TEETH WITH ORAL
- to me, this feels like a tragedy about a r*pist who's cute moving into town and treating it like a buffet
- Using his perceived "cute" as a way to be monstrous without getting blamed for it
- they know "bad fish" shouldn't be eaten, but not "bad boys"?? Girl, that d*ck is as rancid as the fish.

I'm watching the vampire diaries for the first time (I know shut up lol) but it's hella confusing bc in my head Damon looks more like a Stefan and vice versa so I keep thinking they're using the wrong names and shit's confusing

I know this is probably stone age old, but I just noticed something as I was re-watching TVD...
In the last episode of s2, Bonnie and Stefan were trying to contact the Salem witches to reach a cure for Damon's werewolf bite. Emily was being bitter and had Stefan believe that she wouldn't help because he was asking for Damon, because Damon was "a monster" (whatever that means to the witches who refuse to help often for selfish reasons). The witches wouldn't tell them anything, but Bonnie did hear them say "Klaus."
Now, you wanna know what I think? No? Well, sucks to be you, cuz Imma say it anyways.
As far as I can recall, Emily had no personal reason to hate Damon. In fact, she had reasons to like him, because he tried to keep her safe (as a ticket for "Katherine's escape from the tomb", but... Eh), so the reason why she didn't wanna help was, in fact, Niklaus. Neither she nor the other witches wanted him to appear sacred or rare to vampires, because imagine vampires knowing they no longer had to fear wolf bites? That would disrupt the real balance of nature. Also, at the time Nik wasn't doing any real self development to be a good person, so the last they knew of him was all the witches he wronged, abused and daggered, so they also had a selfish reason.
But they would have Damon, Stefan, every character in TVD and us think that no one liked Damon, because he's a real monster with no redeeming qualities, even tho we've seen what witches can do.
Cheers.
