I think what hbomberguy missed out on his video was the way James Somerton also dismissed ace people's oppression by claiming that they didn't 'go through conversion therapy' or apparently 'suffered as much as gay men'.
So here's a video I want to share by the Ace Couple going into depth about the whole thing and how James reacted when called out... spoilers, he didn't react well. I just hope by James' mistakes he and other people can learn something and grow.

i dont undertand the need of lgbtq+ to hate on aspecs
"we need to discuss other issues that cause more deaths/urgent problems on the queer community" okay, lets talk about them, its important, lets talk and spread awareness and...wait you arent doing that, you are wasting time hating on aspecs instead of using that time to talk and spread awareness on those issues
"they arent opressed like we are" first, when being lgbtqia+ became a opression olympics? second, are we forgetting corrective rape, conversion "therapy" is still legal even in those countrys who have "banned" it, medical abuse/malpractise?
"they arent queer" im not gonna get into the same argument over and over
"an aro man harassed me" because he is a creep and a bad person, not because he is aro. all communities have bad people on them, it doesnt mean the entire community is bad
but most importantly, can we stop focusing on hating on each other for absolutly nothing and "they are crying wolf" and focus on the massive waves of transphobia? or queer teens on the streets? or the violent hate-crimes? lets stop this senseless arguments that dont help anyone and focus in something that actually puts lives in danger instead of "i dont want them in my gay club/bar"
get your priorities straight
what do you actually want? hate on aspecs for not being opressed enough or spread awareness about the opression you suffer?

Like anti-gay conversion practices citing "sexual fluidity", anti-trans activists have alleged that gender dysphoria is fluid and transient. But behind the scenes, Genspect parents wonder why their trans kids still aren't "desisting" after several years.

so if you’re advised to not medically transition or socially transition, then what options do you realistically have? other than nhs funded conversion therapy that they’re proposing

The person who started Conversion 'therapy' was a student of the man who created ABA 'therapy' and borrowed many ideas from it.

Listening to flyleaf will never be the same ever since learning the lead singer went to conversion therapy and the song she wrote were about her homoerotic thoughts 😭

Idk why I censored it in my last (when talking about how important it is that the reader remain gn in my slowburn a few posts down) but the "redacted" in the tags is actually conversion therapy.
I think that it's actually really important to talk about, even though it is terrifying to say aloud, considering the fact that many people might not know how much it very much still is a thing. People think conversion therapy is just something that is located to specific centers with "CONVERSION THERAPYTOPIA" written in bold font across the top, but you must be careful to look out for it in seemingly ordinary practitioners, ESPECIALLY ones with who incorporate religious affiliations into their practice.
It's been almost seven years since my experience, where I was able to get out after the first conversion session (when it was done institutionally and not by family), and I can say a few things, ESPECIALLY to younger people.
I cannot stress how important it is to be able to gauge whether a therapist is LGBTQ+ friendly. This should be something you look for early on, before you get attached or emeshed. This helped me make the break early.
You need to have people you can tell. Someone trusted. The main reason I was able to get out is because I told my mom as soon as I left the building. Tell someone. Tell a friend, family, anybody you trust. Be frank with them about your feelings and worries and accept help. If the person you tell doesn't believe you, tell someone else. Keep telling. And if no one does, believe yourself.
If your gut tells you something is up, listen to it. There are other therapists out there. You do not have to be stuck somewhere that harms you.
It's okay if it hurts you. It's an extremely painful experience. Be gentle with yourself afterwards, and surround yourself with people who will support you and make you feel secure in your identity. And remind yourself of the strength it took to get out, what that says about you as a resilient person.
Just in general, be safe out there. Don't let this turn you off from therapy (my current therapist is lovely!), but be cautious. Conversion therapy very much still is a thing.
Be safe!

📚 🔪 🦴 huehue
Hewwo sorry SORRY idk your huehue just triggered that I'm sorry. So sorry. Anyway 😅 thanks for the ask! Sorry I assulted you. ily
📚 ⇢ what's the last thing you wrote down in your notes app?
"Isn't it crazy how a room full of people can make you feel so alone?"
I woke up at 3am and scrambled to write this down 'cause I thought it was the most philosophical thing... God, I wish I could make my asleep brain write everything.
<I'm crying, man! That's how emo I am! I'm fucking crying!>
🔪 ⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
Man, there's so much weird shit.
Uhh, I think the grossest was probably about brain and blood parasites. That shit still keeps me up at night.
The worst was obviously about concentration camps and conversion therapy. That one fucking sucked ass, just reading it was awful.
The dumbest was, "What's temperature is a dead body?" The absolute clownery I felt trying to calculate was just top-tier idiocy. Jaysus.
My favorite is probably a split between Romani and Native American folk lore. I could spend hours talking about it. It's just so fascinating, and there's really nothing quite like it?
The most ridiculous was probably about beer glasses. There's like the main 8 types of beers, and then there are 13 different kinds of glasses? Something like that, I don't know. As soon as I no longer needed the information, I purged it from my brain, lol.
🦴 ⇢ is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?
Damn, like one specific thing? I have no idea.
I would probably say music would be like the most prevalent one?
I mean, obviously, other books and folklore and stuff, but I would say music is the one consistent thing in all of my projects.
I think that it [music] helps my process, inspiration, my focus, even down to my mental health that I would I say I owe a lot to music. None of what I just said makes sense, but that's fine! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I still remember when I told my recovery coach about the conversion therapy I’d gone through and how the psychologist didn’t get in trouble for it (though he did for the sexual stuff ) and they were like oh my gosh that’s so awful why not?? And I had to explain it’s because conversion therapy isn’t illegal in my state
People think gay marriage fixed everything but it didn’t at all

On March 12th, 2023, it was announced that a young trans woman by the name of Eden Knight had passed away. Officially, she had taken her own life.
This was a murder.
Shortly before the reveal of this information, Eden released a statement wherein she described the experiences that led up to her decision.
Her parents, deeply conservative religious fundamentalists, were unwilling to accept Eden's trans identity. They made the decision to hire a team to detransition their daughter: Michael Pocalyko, CEO of private investigation company Special Investigations, former Republican political candidate; Ellen Cole, managing director [of Special Investigations]. Together they manipulated Eden into believing they were "fixers", who could repair Eden's fractured relationship with her family. Together they manipulated Eden into leaving her trans affirming home to return to her home state.
Further isolating Eden from any support, she would be introduced to another individual who convinced Eden to stay with him in DC as he would begin the process of grooming her out of her trans identity. By the time Eden became fully aware of what was happening, she had already been made completely dependent on this man- isolated and financially controlled. She felt left with two choices: to detransition or die. Death or death. In the obituary statement given by Eden's parents, they continue to refer to her by her old name and by the pronoun he.
This was a murder.
I rarely make videos like this on my channel, because for the most part, I try to use this as a space to talk about my beliefs in an attractive and entertaining way. Engaging with certain political realities can already be an extremely dire and depressing prospect, and I try to use different angles to encourage critical thoughts about the world we live in. Certainly this video will not resemble the tone or style of anything released before or after it. I don't care about any of that right now.
Conservative politics- conservative culture- have murdered this girl. Eden is only one story in an endless chain of queer identified and marginalized people targeted by conservative politicians and environments. It is why all ad revenue for this video will be going to Trans Lifeline, an organization dedicated to helping these individuals.
Conservatives do this because their only true concern is power, and when they see their children behaving in ways they see as strange or unfamiliar, they fear a loss of power- a loss of control of the cultural, and therefore political, narrative. These people would rather see their children die than face the reality of change. Despite constant media fear-mongering, these are the groomers who destroy lives. And when they find out about these tragedies, they laugh.
Eden deserves justice. Justice which can only take the form of fighting back against the people who have done this, and the systems they hold control over that allow these tragedies to go on. Much of what I said here is based on a document I've linked below, written by those closest to Eden, which provides more information- and I can only echo the sentiment expressed in their documents to pressure as many journalists as you can to tell this story. While I know there is a degree of risk in talking about this at all, there are powerful people connected to this story who have gone unnamed for the sake of my own self-preservation. If you'd like to learn more there is a clear avenue to do so.
Only as a collective can be shared in story, share our rage at what's happened, and bring justice to her name. I wish I had a comforting resolution to sign off with. That will have to wait.

So if we just do away with all definitions of all words - or perhaps, to your preference, just the definitions pertaining to women and homosexuals - how would the world function?
If we do away with the definition of lesbian as meaning exclusively same sex attracted female humans, what do you think will happen? Would homophobia against lesbians increase? Absolutely! Would lesbians be increasingly exposed to conversion therapy, sexual assault, and rape? Yes! How come you are okay with this? Unless you hate lesbians and want these things to happen to them....
Similarly if we cannot define women anymore as simply adult human females, won't all the legal protections of women which we have fought so hard for, with literal blood, sweat, tears, and jail time, be for nothing? We can't protect a demographic that we can't define. Saying a woman is a feeling is deeply misogynist and ignores the experiences of born women as an oppressed group.
It seems like All Lives Matter and I Don't See Colour are understood as erasing unique black experiences and not helping solve racism or protect black people, but we can apparently Not See Women and All Sexualities are Lesbian and no one except the lesbians seem to notice or care that this erases and endangers lesbians..... The misogyny is jumping out.
Lesbian means female human exclusively attracted to other female humans.
Bisexual mean any person attracted to both sexes. They are mutually exclusive terms. The same way that dog and bird are mutually exclusive. The same way that tea and plastic are mutually exclusive... If we don't have words that have definitions, how are we supposed to communicate and be understood??
Unless it's your goal for lesbian boundaries to not be understood or communicated (and therefore freely violated)
Excuse me, but I want you to think about what you just did here.
You sent this to a 15 year old on the internet who has made the post 'bisexual lesbians, reblog if you agree' to express the fact that a person who is not a man can feel attraction to both genders, but also be moreso attracted to other people who are not men and be valid (or be so romantically). A 15 year old who simply just wanted to advocate for the feelings of people who identify as multiple different labels to express their complicated emotions in a way that feels right for them. A teenager who doesn't wish for women to be raped, and wants nothing more than to say 'I support your emotions and nobody can tell you how you works'.
This is highly innapropriate, and telling a child that advocating for someone's valid emotions and identity is them wishing for those people they are speaking for harm (especially going to the lengths of accusing them of blatantly supporting conversion therapy, rape, sexual assault, and all of those things) is even worse. This makes absolutely no sense, and I will say that coming forward with an entire paragraph on anonymous to send to a child on the internet in order to 'prove them wrong' on a serious matter (that you are making worse with your opinion) is absolutely ridiculous.
Please get yourself and whoever is reblogging my post with 'block op, they're homophobic', 'stop being homophobic' and etc off my page.
And plus,
Tumblr media
And there are multiple ways to be a bisexual lesbian, such as but not limited to,
-Being bisexual, but having a strict romantic attraction to people who are not men.
-Being bisexual but having a preference for women.
-Just feeling comfortable with the fucking label.
Thank you, have a nice day, anon. I hope you and whoever is sending me these things alike have a lovely time getting over yourselves.

I’m a queer inclusionist because I spent my early teen years googling conversion therapy compulsively and trying to find new ways to “fix myself”. if I can prevent even one young queer person from feeling that alone, I’m going to take that chance. I don’t care if they end up figuring out that they’re cishet… that’s none of my business

You think Neil ever threatened Billy with conversion therapy?
Like maybe that was the deal when leaving California. Billy had to chose between Hawkins or ‘summer camp’. But Billy’s got friends, friends who have friends who never came back the same from those ‘camps’, so he’s pissed and howling inside but he chooses Hawkins.
And maybe that’s why Max blames Billy for the move. Billy blames her for getting him caught. For making him make that choice.
