Dadrius Week
Day One
Father’s Day
@sergeantsporks
Hunter and Gus heard about father’s day from Luz, and then immediately found out all of the information about what a “father’s day” should look like. Gus tried to go camping with Perry while Hunter took Darius fishing. It... did not go well. Eber overheard Hunter planning and Darius, having no clue what father’s day was, assumed that he was supposed to get Hunter a gift also. Anyways, it was a huge disaster and Hunter admitted he just wanted to thank Darius for adopting him and he didn’t actually want to go fishing, so they went home and sewed together. If you’re wondering where Amity was, she, the twins, and Alador went to the Bonesborough Brawl as a team and totally smashed it.

claire gives chris a card every year since he is indeed the dad who stepped up, their family situation was a mess after their parents died and he sacrificed everything for her. the card obviously doesn't even begin to explain how much she owes him for not giving up on her
in the same fashion the kids she fosters also send / give her a card since most of them are orphans and she's basically both mother and father in one. it always warms her heart to know she's made such an impact

Zach Themed Father's Day Asks?
Hey everyone, I know it is kind of late, but if anyone wants to send any Zach asks related to Father's Day, feel free to!
I'm open to asks about him/ my OC Varina (his daughter)/ his other children (yeah, I have been a little quite about the others, still figuring them out, hehe), anything about him and my oc/si Violet as parents, how I think he would act as a dad/ approach fatherhood, etc.
Really anything you can think!

((Pari doesn't really do a lot for Father's day aside from sending a gift to her biological dad whom she reconciled with a few years back.
There's still the OG father figure of hers though. That'd be her grandfather. For him, she lights a candle for him where his photo is in memory of him.))

I hope my father was miserable yesterday. It was his birthday and Father's day.
I hope it was the worst day he's had in awhile.
I hope he weeped when his daughters didn't answer his pitiful texts.
I hope it dawned on him that the little girl who used to make him cards every Father's day and every birthday is gone.
I hope he came to the realization that he lost me.
I hope he regrets it every second of his life.

So Arthur took the sword from his brother Kay and he leaped up upon the marble stone. And he set the point of the sword upon the anvil and bare very strongly upon it and lo! the sword penetrated very smoothly into the centre of the anvil until it stood midway deep therein, and there it stood fast. And after he had performed that miracle he drew the sword forth again very swiftly and easily, and then thrust it back again once more as he had done before.
But when Sir Ector beheld what Arthur did, he cried out in a voice of exceeding loudness, “Lord! Lord! what is the miracle mine eyes behold!” And when Arthur came down from the cube of marble stone, Sir Ector kneeled down before him and set his hands together, palm to palm.
But when Arthur beheld what his father did, he cried out aloud like one in a great measure of pain; and he said, “My father! my father! why dost thou kneel down to me?”
To him Sir Ector made reply, “I am not thy father, and now it is made manifest that thou art assuredly of very exalted race and that the blood of kings flows in thy veins, else thou couldst not have handled that sword as thou hast done.”
Then Arthur fell a-weeping beyond all measure and he cried out as with great agony of spirit, “Father! Father! What is this thou sayst? I beseech thee to arise and not to kneel unto me.”
So Sir Ector arose from his knees and stood before the face of Arthur, and he said, “Arthur, why dost thou weep?” And Arthur said, “Because I am afeard.”
(...)
Then, when Arthur heard that saying of his father’s, he cried out in a very loud and vehement voice, “Woe! Woe! Woe!”—saying that word three times. And Sir Ector said, “Arthur, why art thou woful?” And Arthur said, “Because I have lost my father, for I would rather have my father than be a King!”

time to talk about her dad and a bit about grandmother. ( tw for some mentions of emotional neglect, v small mentions of physical / emotional punishment / abuse )
they have a ... distant relationship. her father is emotionally closed off by nature; it’s hard to guess what he’s thinking a lot of the times. he’s not really the type of person to get caught up in feelings, prefers to be calculating. it’s not just caiying but her siblings too who also have to be on the receiving end of a physically ( due to his work at the ministry ) and emotionally absent father, but there’s a clear bias towards her younger sister and brother. he takes care of her as he’s supposed to: supplies her with food, clothing, medicine, even gives her an allowance from his salary. but the better things in life are always given first to her sister then she can have whatever is left over.
really, she might see her dad for a couple of hours every two weeks, at best. their conversations sound more like colleagues at work rather than a father and his daughter. when she was younger, she really tried to emotionally connect with him but he’s brushed aside any attempt at it. getting upset about anything doesn’t reap any positive attention either. she’s already had her fair share of physical punishments and emotionally / mentally damaging words and after a certain point, she realized it’s better for her to lay low and avoid going through the cycle over and over with him. whatever expectations or resentments she had of him when she was younger have been put to rest (expectations) or are just lying dormant inside of her waiting for an emotionally charged moment to burst (resentments). she doesn’t get the luxury of throwing fits or interrogating him about the past, every time she does try she gets shut down immediately by him.
they regard each other more logically and matter-of-fact. he regards her as his daughter who is just there -- sickly, maintaining a docile persona and undoubtedly the most intelligent person in the household aside from himself. he’s aware that caiying has the traits he’d like his other children to have but doesn’t go out of his way to do anything with them, very “ do what you want “ when it comes to her unless it will damage the family / himself. and she sees him for the emotionally cold, analytical person he really is, unable to receive any of the parental affection she should be guaranteed based on principle alone. she doesn’t regard him as someone who is her backer, her support, someone who will help her out for the sake of their bond or their blood relation.
now. they make a great pair of allies. they’re thorough in their plans, resourceful when it concerns their goals, and capable of playing the long game when the situation calls for it. if they are on the same side, they play off of each other well. they’re a father and daughter pair that work better when neither of them are trying to get any familial affection from each other and operate strictly like allies. they’d be a good pair in the political arena, for sure.
caiying’s influences in terms of parental figures have largely been women. first her mother and then her grandmother, who, while elderly, doesn’t let her son get off easy when he does cross a line with caiying. it’s another one of the reasons that her father doesn’t bother with her anymore. her grandmother takes care of her the most, aside from her servants / attendants, and has given her the opportunities to grow ( i.e., hiring a tutor for her, taking classes, funding the occasional trip, etc ). speaking of a backer and pillar of support, that would be her grandmother and, to a much lesser extent, her mother’s family ( but they really don’t have that much aside themselves from what caiying gives them ). her grandmother doesn’t overly spoil her, but she does take good care of caiying whenever she is able to, and they spend a lot of time together.
her grandmother is v much like “ as long as i’m here, nothing will happen to you “ towards caiying. so, even if her father is an absolute disaster, she still has her grandmother.

( X ) Continuation
Oh... he certainly had a point! The number of holidays could be overwhelming. They had one for bubble wrap appreciation and another for bathtub parties! The latter was still difficult for her to understand. Was it a holiday to throw all the rubber duckies in the tub with you, or something entirely different?
“A Manchester Day?” She commented with furrowed brows of her own. “Maybe it is both? Or whichever gives the most spirit? But it is father’s day!” She happily proclaimed with a little bounce on her heels.
Her gaze quickly shifted to the package in her hands wrapped in white paper covered in rainbow polka dots. Perhaps not the ideal choice for the holiday, but the easiest to get her hands on! The big red bow on top was an easy choice comparatively.
“You really think so?” There was that proud smile of hers as she held the gift out to him. “But it is a surprise! If I tell you, your expression will not be genuine. Oh, but please open it. I cannot wait to see what you think.” Of course, she assumed receiving a new tweed jacket and a collection of different bow ties was the best choice.

She's honestly tempted to take a sledgehammer to her father's grave.
It's what he deserves after making her feel like a monster...
A certain someone else in that cemetery would be getting flowers from her instead.

lucille would spend father’s day working on her children’s ward. one, because it meant she could give time off to the parents who wanted to be home. two, because she knows how hard it is for both her kids & their parents to be spending this day in a hospital rather than elsewhere, so she wants to support them. you better believe all her patients that day get extra attention with lu bringing them stuffed toys, giving them an extra pot of jello if they’re allowed, bending the rules to let the parents stay a little longer outside of visiting hours. she also spends the days building up sitting with the children, helping them decorate cards with art supplies bought in personally by her. she would then go home to negan for them to support each other, because these days were tough on them too, given that they wanted children and weren’t able to.
