I just have to say pro-Israel people are kinda delusional. Like my mom and her friends are and they’re convinced they’re gonna be hate crimed for being so and that they’re in the minority. One of them told me I was safer wearing a pride flag than a Star of David. They’re equating anti-semitism and anti-Zionism and it annoys the fuck out of me

Of course, Nick didn’t have anyone he felt comfortable running his confusion by at that point, but I definitely think it would’ve turned out more helpful for him to talk to someone supportive instead of bouncing around the web. About a year ago, I spent about half of a five-hour road trip thinking about why — presumably I’m less focused and thus slower when not thinking out loud — and I’d like to come back to that in a post.

Nick had something on his mind, which he had strong and probably contradictory feelings about, so he went Googling — maybe as a kind of outlet, to feed and engage with those thoughts, and hopefully to find something that will sort them out for now. However, in my interpretation, because Nick’s browsing wasn’t really targeted — he searched “am I gay?”, which I suppose isn’t too specific of a question, and didn’t stay on that track — he encountered a bunch of different ideas, maybe even on top of the ones he already had swirling around, and got all the more overwhelmed. All we saw for sure is that Nick was questioning whether his feelings for Charlie were platonic, and if not, what that says about his romantic and/or sexual orientation, then suddenly it was like, h*te cr*me! “conv*rsion th*rapy!”, and I would imagine those ideas freaked Nick out further.

One person, though, would’ve had the ability to respond in a personalized way to exactly what Nick asked, or even simply shared without a formed question. And they certainly wouldn’t have thrown adjacent and frightening facts at him, or taken varied, contradictory approaches. The reassurance that they would be able to tell Nick is seeking and provide, and the clarity of their to-the-point answers would surely have grounded him, made him feel like there are ways of making sense of it all, and he doesn’t have to right this instant 🙂

I feel like a bad person for the fact my mind went straight to 'he gives me the creeps' 😔

I hate to stereotype but he seems like the kind of man, with the ay he talked for only 5 minutes, like he would see me holding hands with a girl friend and hate crime us....but I feel horrible for feelin that way because I don't know him.

house md will always be remebered as the most insane thing ever broadcast because of how unabashedly feral everyone involved was.

a short collection of things that happen on the show, just off the top of my head, not even scratching the surface:

- house shoots a random dead body in the morgue and then sticks him in an mri machine, which pulls the bullet out of the dead guy’s head and destroys the machine, costing the hospital millions

- foreman gets bitten by a person with rabies

- chase kills an african dictator

- cameron steals drugs from a patient after possibly getting hiv from said patient

- house induces a migraine and then takes a drug made by his arch nemesis (who he’s been stalking for 25 years) to get the drug taken off the market. he then takes lsd (in the hospital, in the middle of a case) to cure the migraine.

- chase goes into anaphylaxis after doing body shots

- house stops an elevator so he can perform a cavity (vaginal) search on a teenage heart transplant patient who’s in cardiorespiratory arrest

- they give a neurosurgeon mushrooms to cure his food poisoning, then they stick him in an operating room. the neurosurgeon strips in front of a health board assessor.

- kutner dies for gay marriage

- house sets an autopsy room on fire while trying to juggle flaming bottles

- house gets recruited by the cia

- taub gets held at gun point after diagnosing a stripper with skin cancer

- in almost every single episode, the team breaks into multiple houses

- house fakes terminal brain cancer so he can get drugs implanted directly into the pleasure centre of his brain

- house cons us immigration to get his fake wife a green card. he also uses his fake wife’s ukrainian food truck to spy on people

- house tries to get wilson, his closet case boybestfriend, into bed every few episodes. every other sentence out of house’s mouth is about wanting to rail wilson.

- taub has a kid with his ex-wife, after they divorce, at the same time he has a kid with his 25 yo side piece. the kids’ names are sophie and sophia.

- house and wilson have a bet on who can hide a chicken in the hospital the longest without anyone finding out

- house tries to kill himself like 6 times and always fails (insulin shock, overdoses, electrocution, jumping off a building, cutting, etc)

- house fakes his death to get out of a prison sentence after violating his parole so he can live out his bi love story with his gay best friend who has 5 months to live

something unavoidable in researching transgender suicide and hate crimes online is that there will always be transphobic charlatans acting through non-profit organisations who manage to get near the top of search results (even on Google scholar!) to deny that trans suicides and hate crimes are occurring at all. and it’s funny in a very ghastly way to see “TRANS CHILDREN SUICIDE MYTH” as a headline plastered in between dozens of news reports, government inquiries, non-governmental organisational reports, activist writers, international bodies, legal clinics, and academic scholarship saying it’s worse than it’s ever been - all of them use language like epidemic, crisis, state of emergency, and then you scroll down again to see sex-matters.org saying they’re defending the rights of womyn to fight for ‘single sex’ spaces. It’s performance art in a way, bile and pus leaking out of the cracks in between headlines of another murdered trans teenager, trying to cover it up

Rewatched the S2 finale last night

Can we talk how most of the episode is a hallucination/dream, therefore everything everyone says to him is actually his own thoughts?

They do draw attention to it with the fellows, but it’s true for everything Cuddy says, everything Wilson says, everything the gunman says.

'Cause they know that they will make mistakes. They know that their actions have consequences. And they know that those consequences are their fault. Why do you want so bad not to be human, House?”

“You think that the only truth that matters is the truth that can be measured. Good intentions don't count, what's in your heart doesn't count, caring doesn't count, that a man's life can't be measured by how many tears are shed when he dies. These are House’s thoughts ABOUT HIMSELF. Which is just so heartbreaking on repeat watches where you know this is the case while it’s happening.

I find the line “I don’t know why you’d want to live” especially heartbreaking because over the course of the series House implies he thinks or at one point thought about suicide somewhat regularly, and this being his own mind questioning why he’d want to live?

I have so many feelings I cannot put into words.

To parents of trans kids who are scared of their kids facing transphobia:

Don't force your child out of being trans. Don't force them to detransition. This is not how your child from facing transphobia. Realistically, you are pushing them toward more dangerous situations because they will be desperate to find acceptance from anywhere they can.

I can't imagine how it feels to be a parent and worry about your child's safety or life because they are trans in this world. You have my full sympathy. While I can't speak from the experiences of a parent, I can speak from the experiences of a trans person who was once a child and why the above line of thinking is dangerous.

When I came out as trans, there was a huge proportion of time where my dad was very resistant to my transness. I couldn't understand why, but I believe part of why he was so resistant was because he was afraid somebody would assault or kill me because I am trans. That is a huge burden for him to think about. However, he went about this (valid) fear in a very destructive way.

He threatened my transition, he threatened to force me to detransition, and he threatened a lot of things. I retreated away from him, I couldn't talk to him about anything. I felt confined, unaccepted. I am lucky my friends and school were accepting, because I was vulnerable. Others haven't been lucky - so many people in that position have been taken advantage of by truly evil people.

You might think that you are protecting your child by making them appear cis, but that isn't how that plays out. Your child won't feel accepted, and chances are that if something horrific happened to them, gd-forbid, they won't come to you about that. This isn't protection, and I am sorry to say that. I am sorry that this isn't simple.

Here is how you can protect your trans child:

Make it clear you support them

Teach them self-respect, and how to listen to their gut feeling

Teach them appropriate versus inappropriate ways people can interact with them. Make sure they understand what harassment and abuse can look like - verbal, physical, and sexual

If you are still concerned for their physical safety, sign them up for self-defense classes

Leave the floor open for them to express how they are feeling and what they are thinking. Be non-judgmental when they are upset or worried

Please remember that trans people are painfully aware of the consequences of being trans in a transphobic world. Hell, one of the first trans people I learned about as a kid was killed as a result of a hate crime. We are aware of the world we live in. We have to live with that knowledge, and that is why it is imperative that you allow your trans child to express who they are and how they feel. You very well could save them by doing so.

We protect trans youth by empowering trans youth.

In early March, I was featured on a Hershey Canada limited-edition chocolate bar for International Women’s Day. I was humbled to be a part of the ad campaign and hoped my inclusion would send a message about celebrating women in all our diversity.

Instead, it sparked a global campaign to boycott the company. Within days, I was targeted by figureheads of the American far right. Matt Walsh deadnamed me and called me a “vile, woman-hating extremist” to his 1.8 million Twitter followers. Brett Cooper dug up my pre- and early transition photos. Tucker Carlson—then still on Fox News—mocked me with out-of-context quotes from my Twitter and Instagram feeds and equated me with fascists. The day after Michael Knowles broadcast a segment about how “Hershey’s Transes Their Chocolate” on his Daily Wire show, he gave a speech calling for the extermination of “transgenderism” from public life.

The coverage was relentless. Scores of articles appeared in right-wing publications, and thousands of obscene messages poured into my Twitter mentions, DMs, and email inbox. Memes and caricatures of me were shared on social media. I was called a fag, tranny, groomer, and paedophile. I was encouraged to kill myself and threatened with physical violence. [...]

"we need to discuss other issues that cause more deaths/urgent problems on the queer community" okay, lets talk about them, its important, lets talk and spread awareness and...wait you arent doing that, you are wasting time hating on aspecs instead of using that time to talk and spread awareness on those issues

"they arent opressed like we are" first, when being lgbtqia+ became a opression olympics? second, are we forgetting corrective rape, conversion "therapy" is still legal even in those countrys who have "banned" it, medical abuse/malpractise?

Increase of antisemitic and anti-Muslim hate crimes

Following the Oct. 7 Hamas massacre there was a big increase of antisemitic and anti-Muslim hate crimes. CAIR (Council on American–Islamic Relations) reported 2,171 asks for help and reports of anti-Muslim and/or anti-Arab biases in the US since Oct. 7 (as of 2 Dec.). The ADL (Anti-Defamation League) reported 2,031 antisemitic incidents in the US between Oct. 7 and Dec. 7. This is a 337 % increase of antisemitic hate crimes compared to the same time frame in 2022 and a 172 % increase of anti-Muslim hate crimes compared to the two month average in 2022. More than half (1,411) of the antisemitic hate crimes were linked to the fighting in Gaza and Israel.
