god how the fuck do people go on diets, especially crash diets
i'm literally only forcing myself to be on a low-fat gluten-free diet out of medical necessity (the low-fat is temporary to prevent my gallbladder from sending me to the ER, the GF is permanent but due to a condition that makes me gluten intolerant) and it literally feels like a punishment, even though I know the worst of it is temporary and the rest is manageable otherwise with pleasant alternatives that might not be considered 'healthy' to people who do this shit on the regular to lose weight.
how fucked up on diet culture do you have to be to do this to yourself in an attempt to get a thinner body, especially when it doesn't even work 95% of the time? it's fucking miserable for me, how the fuck do they do it? i would ask how they do it without hating themselves but we already know the answer to that one. and like they can't even enjoy sugary or processed or 'unhealthy' food? how do you live like that?

“do you know how many calories are in those?” “at your age, no, you shouldn’t care about calories.” “no, that’s too sweet, do you want diabetes?” “drink some water.” “why are you eating like that?” there’s starving kids in africa who’d be glad to have your food.” “slow down, you’re gonna choke.” “did you look up high fructose corn syrup and what it does to the body?” “you act like you’ve haven’t eaten all day.” “look at you, girl, you lost some weight!” “you need to go on a diet.” “why are you not eating?” “there’s food in the house! stop being so picky.” “dang, leave some for us.” “you need to stop eating.” “you need to eat healthier.” “have you eaten any of these? well you need to.” “you can’t eat that now, you’ll mess up my seats!” “you eat up every damn thing!” “you’re acting like a starving kid in africa.” “you need to stop acting like you don’t have any food at home.” “don’t give an attitude, you’re sitting there picking at it. stop being disrespectful.” “did you know that lunchmeat causes colon cancer?”

seeing some online news articles telling stories about how someone loses weight and how they did it.. like lists what they ate and it's just like barely any calories...like gee i wonder why they lost weight
the list be like:
breakfast: a single hard boiled egg, a slice of wheat toast and a raisin (with a coffee)
lunch: salad with nothing in it with a low fat dressing
dinner: unseasoned grilled chicken with unseasoned cooked vegetables on the side
dessert: cup of yogurt :)

I just got a blaze post for weight loss and I’m :/
I’m so sorry my love. I wish people would stop sharing such harmful content. Your body is perfect as it is. I’m so proud of you for every moment you spend caring for your body, showing it love, and feeding your body, mind, and soul even when this world tries to tell you it’s wrong. Take tender care today and remember that you are loved.

i am making a request
So I need to start doing more cooking as I work towards my independence and whatnot as an adult. I'd love to find some good recipes. No big deal, I can just look them up online or in the cookbooks we have in the house, right?
Apparently not, unfortunately. I was very quickly reminded of the reality of this when I went to check the instant pot cookbook that a friend had given us. Just some recipes for that particular appliance, should be fine - aaaand it's a diet book.
So, needless to say, I haven't been doing this for quite some time (or else that wouldn't have surprised me in the slightest). Many, many recipe books and sites center around dieting and weight loss, or will even just mention in their recipes that it's good for such things - regardless if that's the point of the recipe.
I really, really don't need that kind of nonsense when I'm just trying to feed myself and practice self-care, so this is a call to everybody who knows anything about cooking, recipes, and/or fat activism. Preferably all three.
Do y'all know of any good cookbooks, recipe websites, etc, that are at least half-decent about, like, Not Doing That? Whether they're neutral or body-positive, that helps. This post will be linked in my pinned post (which I will hopefully organize soon) so that it's easier to find.
Just, like, recipes that don't have fatphobia/sizeism/diet culture woven into them, whether it's the description or trashing the quality for the purpose of weight loss or anything else like that. Thanks in advance!
Thin people are welcome to reblog and contribute but don't clown on this post or you will be blocked.
Edit: if you're looking for recipes, please check the notes! As much as I'd like to make this a long-ass masterlist of recipes, recipe books, etc, I could absolutely see this getting away from me, so do keep that in mind. I'll try to keep as much as I can in one chain, though!

You know what sucks? When you tag your posts for body positivity and tumblr suggests fat fetish/weight gain posts under yours 🙃
Like I hardly ever genuinely hate my body for the weight but having tumblr shove those posts in my face attached to my own fucking posts makes me feel like absolute trash and I hate myself for it. I want to lose weight, I want to be smaller, and seeing posts about my body type be nothing but a fetish makes me feel like I’m absolutely worthless
Fuck you tumblr. Fuck you @staff for doing this. And fuck you feeders/weight gain blogs for taking up every corner of body positivity on this goddamn site. I hate you for making me hate myself

jfc you can create an entire fucking website around discussing the intersections of your personal experience with being fat in an anti-fat world, share resources about how harmful and insidious fatphobia is, give intimate and explicit details on why saying certain things that one thinks are compliments can actually be really harmful to fat people, sign everyone you know up for your newsletter and make sure they read every one of your lengthy but moving and insightful posts……..only to have your parents STILL gawk and congratulate your partners weight loss even though they know its due to them being fucking unwell. I cant stand it here.

honestly hate so much how society views and treats fat people, especially fat disabled people.
i am abled bodied, but currently have a cane to walk with, since i have an injured foot at the moment and i can’t see a doctor till the end of next week. anyways, i’ve seen people judge disabled people who are fat and uses mobility aids. saying they did this to themselves by not losing weight. i can’t speak for physically disabled people, but it’s horrible that people lack empathy for a person because of their weight.
i’m currently going out shopping and decided not to take the cane for my own sanity. i can still walk to a point, but i am in a lot of pain. and i definitely understand that people can’t just drop their mobility aids. so, i can only speak for myself.
i hate that i have to do this. and usually i try to have the “who cares” attitude…but when you’ve been ridiculed and laughed at for your weight, growing up and till this day. it gets exhausting and you can only take so much.

hello ying !! you mentioned working out in your recent posts so i'm here to ask any advice or basic workouts you could give to a total newbie? feels kinda daunting, my only movement is walking around the house and playing w the dogs kshdsjjsbsj
hi lovely!!!! howre u doing hehehe
i think its great that you’re taking the first step!! yes it definitely is daunting, but yk — starting it is half the battle won ❤️ personally i found that doing workouts that i actually love are really good for me!! here’s some youtube videos i use, for example /
— a broadway workout tailored for HIIT / tabata (emkfit)
— a hamilton 20 min dance workout (kyra pro)
— a medley of songs for dancing (youtube!!)
— happy cardio 12 mins (pamela reif)
honestly youtube is FILLED with beginner stuffs and it def can be overwhelming so i recommend sticking to one video for a while (at least thats what helped me!!), i remember starting regular workouts and all i did was pamela reif’s happy cardio for 12 mins 😭 it was familiar enough that i wasn’t scared to try an entirely new routine, but still heart pumping enough to give a good sweat after :,)
another thing that i really recommend is setting your goals, bc the stronger your motivation is, the more likely you are to accomplish it (yes i know, you’ve heard this so many times. BUT ITS TRUE!!!) eg. a very vague goal would be “i want to lose weight” and thats just…….. how… huh. its not bad, but sometimes its just too vague to be properly motivating :( perhaps something more tailored for yourself would be “i want to lose weight so that i can feel more comfortable in my own skin, and i’d feel better about myself because i know i’m becoming a healthier version of me.” then we further pin it down by exploring ways you can reach point B. maybe it’s something like “i want to lose weight so that i can feel more comfortable in my own skin, and i’d feel better about myself because i know i’m becoming a healthier version of me. some steps i can take is making an exercise plan for myself, and i’ll make time to exercise twice a week, for XX minutes each session.” something like that!! it sounds SUPER overused and oversaid by a lot of people but i really promise, it works 😭😭 also an accountability buddy is rly useful (irl or online!!)
one last thing is that i honestly recommend to just stop whatever you’re doing (if you’re at home and not doing anything impt) if the motivation to exercise comes around. yes it will hit you like a truck. maybe it comes when you’re watching netflix. but please use the stupid timing of the motivation to work out bc trust me its worth it!!! but also take care of yourself, don’t exercise on an empty stomach and always take regular breaks to drink water and stretch ❤️
ok i think ive rambled enough & im by no means a professional so pls take everything i said w a grain of salt 😭😭😭 but all the best mari!!! we got this mwamwa heres to a healthier version of us in 2022 ❤️🥂
