IMPORTANT: do not interact with the person mentioned below. please do not send hate or harass ANY of the accounts mentioned. the point of this post is to warn the community of a serious threat, not to dog pile or stir a hate mob. his accounts have been reported and local authorities have been made aware of his potential for harm. Last updated: 01/30/2024. New information begins close to the bottom, starting at the red text.

Some of you may already be familiar with the homophobic incel that was previously filling the Ahsoka & Sabine Wren tags with vile misogyny. He's gone by many names due to banning and deactivations: @sabezrastan01, @longlivetheemporer, @imperialloyalist01, @standorando, and @imperialsycophant. Here's the guy that gave us this classic:

Now, as meme worthy as that post was- it's unfortunately just the tip of the iceberg. Despite his exile from this social media site, he continues to be active on Instagram and TikTok. He also continues to get support from some of the same folks that have been painting sapphics and wolfwren shippers out as vicious bullies.

I didn't intend to find everything I did, but this man constantly comments under official Star Wars media posts calling queer women "degenerates" and "beasts," so it's been hard to miss. It honestly hurts to reread this shit again, but I want to warn anyone who 1) may interact with him without realizing he's a incel neo nazi 2) may be harmed by his continued harassment.

First thing to remember about him- he doesn't just complain about shipping, he has wished death and harm upon multiple people. On top of the two screenshots below, he also discussed wanting to put a bullet in Dave Filoni's head (the alt account was taken down before I thought to screenshot):

He wrote "these people need to be beaten" on a dozen anti-wolfwren posts before his most recent account was taken down. He has embraced the common anti-LGBTQIA+ rhetoric of queer people being pedophiles and rapists:

He repeatedly brings rape up unprompted, especially when talking to nonbinary folks and women:

Plus buys into the "woke agenda" causing queer relationships to happen in media:

You'll notice the irony of him "worrying" wolfwren shippers are going to threaten the actors, despite him previously threatening to kill Dave Filoni and beat wolfwren shippers. He seems to be projecting a lot of his own desires and wishes onto other people, which will become even more obvious further down this post.

Now, thankfully his last tumblr account was taken down for inciting violence, but as i mentioned before, it's hard to miss him on other platforms:

Out of morbid curiosity I clicked on his account, and it's unfortunately what you would expect for from an incel. His follower and following list is littered with white nationalists, militia groups, tactical gear stores, weapon vendors, alt-right religious orgs, and 4chan neo nazis.

It's clean he's unhinged and a danger to those who don't share similar interests. He seems to make allowances for anyone who ships sabezra, but otherwise is a diehard supporter of alt-right Christian nationalist beliefs.

One of his previous account names on Instagram was @cajunminuteman, with a confederate flag as his pfp. In current alt right groups, a minuteman is a person who is ready to pick up a gun and fight on a minutes' notice, typically in a militia against the government. His previous account also followed a number of Christian Southern Nationalist accounts:

There are a number of shippers that continue to interact with this man. Most sabezra shippers I've chatted with are very sweet, some of you even share discord servers with me and have so much love for this fandom. I'm only asking those of you who choose to ignore this man's threats of violence to revaluate how far you are willing to go to support a fictional ship.

Wolfwren shippers have bore the brunt of fandom hate and harassment since Ahsoka started airing. We continue to get called degenerates, rapists, pedophiles, and threatened with physical violence. This is not the same, or in any way equivalent, to silly jokes made about fictional ships being made canon. It's exhausting to get constant harassment in real life AND online.

Are there mean wolfwren shippers? Absolutely. I'm sorry queer people sometimes cheer on cishet ships not becoming canon, I know it sucks when it's over something you like. No, enjoying cishet ships doesn't make you any less queer, and I'm sorry there was an asshole out there that said that shit. But can we PLEASE stop acting like sapphics and wolfwren enjoyers are ALWAYS bullies? That we're somehow always the ones threatening people? It plays into the alt-right rhetoric of the LGBTQIA+ community being predators and I'm so sick of it, especially when there is so much outright vile hate for queers.

If there are any wolfwrens sending hate and/or threats, I am begging for an example or name so they can be reported properly. None of us condone any of the nasty shit that's been sent, we deal with enough hate irl. This man's closest friends aren't much better, joking about wanting to hurt wolfwren shippers and how the LGBTQIA+ community is a bad thing:

On January 24 2024, his most recent Instagram account (@imperialloyalist01) was taken down. Less than 24 hours later, a sabezra shipper DM'd me asking me to delete this post. I explained to the shipper that the point of this post was to warn the fandom as a whole of this guy's behaviour, and at multiple points I make it clear everyone should stay away + not engage any of the accounts involved.

Everything included in this thread is public information taken from public posts or public accounts. The shipper who DM'd me still demanded I remove this post, as it could "hurt their friends."

The context of who the incel associates himself with is helpful when conveying the severity & underlying motives of his actions. There are approximately two non alt-right/neo-nazi accounts in the following/follower lists I shared. Those who were following @imperialloyalist01 up until January 24th were both privately and publicly made aware they were following a person threatening harm against others, but they continued to like, comment, and follow the account. This does not mean any of them should be harassed or bothered. It simply provides additional context to the situation and will hopefully aid others in forming their own opinions on who they wish to befriend.

When I reminded the shipper who DM'd me that their friends were continuing to make jokes about hitting/hurting wolfwren shippers, AND tagging wolfwren in those edits, I did not get a response. However, what I did get was mass spam reported.

Shortly after I sent the above message and the sabezra shipper realized I would not be taking this post down, my account was hate reported and temporarily terminated. Tumblr has an automated feature that bans accounts immediately (out of safety) if they are reported by a large group of people at the same time (which is fair, say someone posts torture or something terrible). Thankfully, after I emailed the abuse support team and explained the situation, they reinstated my account:

I will not be sharing the name of the sabezra shippers who tried to take down my account. I already get harassed enough, and I don't want anyone to go through the same shit. Please remember that a small group of bad people do NOT represent an entire community. There are plenty of sweet sabezra shippers that do not support this kind of disgusting and hateful behaviour.

Key takeaways: don't send hate or threats. Let people have their fun online while they attempt to avoid the Horrors of real life. Please don't support people spewing vile hate JUST because they like the same fictional ships as you.

AITA for obviously covering my nose and mouth around smokers at work? (Tw for a very brief mention of sexual assault and mentions of bigotry)

To preface I'm fully aware that WHAT I'm trying to do is justified, I just don't know if the HOW is a problem.

Some context about my working conditions: I work in an outdoors location. I sit at a table at the front gate and check bags and permit entry. Where I sit is a fairly small open area at the base of a large set of stairs before the place people are actually coming to see. Smoking, drinking, etc is allowed everywhere on premise including the small area I sit at for eight hours a night. 90% of the patients drink (not the point of the post but to display how lax the type of event I work at is), and 50% of the adults MINIMUM smoke. The ticket booth is right beside my booth and people will stand there for up to 5 minutes on a not too busy night smoking as they wait. The customer base is nearly entirely white and almost 100% Republican. They wear MAGA hats, fly confederate flags, wear blue lives matter shirts, and try to yell at me about chemtrails if I don't shoo them away from me. I've been sexually assaulted, harassed for being Russian(?????????), called anti-trans slurs, have had weapons pulled on me, etc. And as I've said....... pretty much all the patrons are drunk. So I CAN NOT wear a mask for my own immediate safety. This is also not an every day issue as I work for an event specifically that only takes place once or twice a month

Now as to why smoking is an issue: I'm allergic to cigarette smoke. I don't remember exactly what part causes the reaction but I very quickly have a reaction to it. I assume it's something most every non smoker goes through experiencing second hand smoke: nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fainting, etc. It just happens to me VERY quickly. Now, if they don't have bags for me to check and just breeze on by after getting their tickets, I hold my breath for a quick minute until the air at least doesn't actively feel gross to breathe in. Minute is an exaggeration, because of a disability I have I can't hold my breath for more than 20 seconds. When people with bags for me to check come to my table and are smoking, I try to severely limit my breathing until it's done because I'm directly dealing with the customers and have to breathe. Where my methods might be asshole-ish come into play with the people who choose to stand around and smoke instead of leaving the area

I use my shirt/jacket to cover my mouth and nose. When it's cold I try to at least make it look like a keeping myself warm thing. It's not perfect, it's not like I'm suddenly immune to second hand smoke, but if they're only around for five minutes or so it does WONDERS keeping me from getting sick. I used to try harder not to be obvious about it, but going home throwing up and sneezing out tar for days after I work so many times has made me a bit more "idgaf if they're offended by it" sometimes. The thing is, I don't WANT to be rude about it though. My goal here isn't to cause a problem, which is the biggest concern with the customer base, but to just keep myself safe. When I try to just suck it up and take no measures to reduce the amount of smoke I'm directly inhaling, I've gotten so violently ill I've been unable to actually do my job. Admittedly I've never made a serious attempt to just ask people to not smoke around me, but in my defense it's because the response in the past has been for people to flick their cigarette ash at me and get up in my face. I think I might be too replaceable for there to be any kind of enforceable rule about not smoking in my direct vicinity

So I repeat: AITA for covering my face at work when people smoke right beside me? (And if so, any other solutions you could think of would be nice!)

thank you for the clarification about Kitby though. i had no clue what that. means and we were all grasping for straws. im glad to hear that wasnt as bad as i thought but like. at the end of the day the confederate flag is still racist from everything ive been told and im still taking no part in this. i think you should reflect on why you associate racist symbols with your family and maybe try and uh… think of some better things to remember them.

Mercy is the second eldest of four siblings; she has an older brother, Peter, and two younger twin sisters, Chastity and Grace. Mercy was brought up in the Bible Belt of America, in Belcher, Louisiana. Her father, Paul, was one of many local farmers in this rural town, and her mother, Sarah, was a stay-at-home mother, who did lots of volunteer work in the community, such as occasionally running bible study, Sunday school and various day care provisions. Her older brother Peter is set to inherit the farm, and the three daughters were expected to do just as their mother did. While there were a few more forward thinking members of their small community, Mercy’s family was not among them; Mercy was brought up in an extremely conservative, religious household; your typical bible belt white family. The views she was brought up on were bigoted, racist, and highly intolerant of more ‘liberal’ views and people. Mercy was brought up to believe in all of this, and was told anything else she heard was wrong. Anything that went against her parents’ beliefs resulted in strict corporal punishment, usually administered by their father. Around their house you’d most likely find the confederate flag, various religious iconography, and not a whole lot of books outside of the bible. The Miller girls were expected to wear very conservative clothing, such as long skirts and stockings, and cardigans and blouses, and were not allowed to wear makeup. Paul and Peter were quite fond of their drink, and would often join the other men and husbands of the town each Friday, at the local bar, whereas the girls were expected to stay home; all of the Miller children were home schooled. When drunk, both Paul and Peter could become violent, and it was usually Mercy who received the brunt of it, mostly from her brother. She would try to protect her sisters, as they were a lot younger than her. However, despite this, Mercy genuinely believed that everything happened as God intended, and was content with her lot, believing her brother and father to be the patriarchs of the family and therefore entitled to do as they pleased. Mercy’s mother was much the same when Paul would hit her.Mercy was quite happy being ignorant of any other way of life, and would frequently engage in anti-abortion protests with her sisters and mother, and help out at religious events. But this all started to change when she was 20 years old. Mercy had been travelling, by bike, to fetch some medicine for Grace, who was unwell (none of the Millers believed in vaccinations), but was knocked off in a hit and run, by a drunk driver. She was on the side of the deserted country road for about an hour before anyone found her. She prayed and prayed for someone to come, but when that someone did, it wasn’t who she expected; a gay couple - one black, one white - who had been travelling through town on a road trip, found her and took her to hospital; they even paid for her hospital bills as she had no money and no insurance. When Mercy came to, years of bigotry and racism told her that these people were dangerous, but in truth she had never even met a gay or black person. When she realised what they had done for her, all sorts of questions began to pour into her head. Why had she been taught that this way of life was so wrong when they had saved hers, and with no expectation of being paid back? She talked with them for a while; initially she had begged them not to call her parents, knowing that there would be uproar if Mercy was found even speaking to the kinds of people her parents and community deemed so ‘wrong’. In talking to them, she found them to be some of the kindest people she had ever met. When they had promised they would leave before her parents arrived, she allowed them to call her father. She spent the next few days healing a broken femur and some bruising, listening to everyone praise God for rescuing her. Eventually, after a couple of days, she plucked up the courage to tell her mother what had really happened. Her mother was furious and told her father, and Mercy was hurt again. Throughout it all, she tried to understand why her parents had told her these people were wrong when they had saved her life. She tried to verbalise it, but only kept getting hurt. She realised her parents didn’t have a real answer. When she was fully healed from the injury, she brought it up again. Her father, furious that she wouldn’t let it go, made her homeless, telling her that she was ungrateful and that she would be punished for her sins.Now, Mercy is desperately trying to educate herself, but finds it hard to unlearn everything she’s been brainwashed into believing. She’s trying to learn what life can be like, and lives her life from shelter to shelter. She’s been arrested a couple of times for stealing food, knowing it to be wrong, but having no way of looking after herself. Because she’s been unable to pay the fine, she’s had to do community service a few times. She’s been told, one more strike, and she’ll be shipped off to prison. During community service, she’s met all sorts of different people from different walks of life and all the while she can hear her parents’ voices in her head, telling her they’re wrong, but she wants to unlearn that, even though she finds it hard. These days, she has to resign herself to doing whatever she can to get by, even if it means doing things she believes to be wrong, such as drug running and stripping. She is still a virgin, but having to strip as meant meeting some lecherous men who have paid her for sexual favours. She can’t get out of her head that for that, she’s going to Hell and that terrifies her.

Personality traits: she is quite open about her ‘beliefs’ and though she’s questioning them, sometimes she forgets herself and it comes across as intolerant and rude. She’s not particularly educated, and makes some stupid comments, and comes across quite ignorant. Outside of her upbringing, she is friendly and helpful and is open to learning more.

Appearance: She is quite skinny and pale, and has long brown hair and blue eyes. She has many scars on her back, put there by belts. She doesn’t have much of a fashion sense, and has been reduced to stealing clothes from the trash or charity bins, due to being homeless. She’s trying to find her own style, and experiments with makeup she finds.

Triggers: aggressive men.

Qualifications: none - homeschooled.

Occupation: unemployed.

Mental/Physical Issues: she is quite malnourished and has some PTSD relating to her home abuse and s*xual a*sault on the streets - suffers from night terrors.

The whole entire fucking island of Bolivar Peninsula is full, and I mean FULL … of alt-right flags. There was flags GALORE!!! A fucking group of flags!!! ON EVERY!!! SINGLE!!! CORNER!!!

Trucks with confederate, trump, “come and take it” flags on all parts of the shore. The whole entire island is contaminated with hate. Drove off immediately after seeing that, and never came back. What the actual fuck…

Not to mention I went to The Strand in Galveston, and there was some random white dude bible-thumping ALL FUCKING DAY LONG on some corner with a “jesus loves you” sign… and then some other random white dude said some brief misogynistic shit as a result of that, and of course the bible-thumper didn’t say shit about that because christians, and it just reminded me that many people in Texas are absolute shit.

Horrible day yesterday… just horrible.

Then again… I remember that Galveston is also that place where police officers rode on horses with a black man strapped to a rope like a chattel slave, so I’m not surprised at any of this…

The first book I picked up off the New Arrivals shelf at my (small, rural, southern) local library was by a nonbinary author. Their pronouns were listed first thing in their bio section. I almost dropped the damn book out of sheer excitement.

Ya'll, I live in the bible belt. I pass 17 confederate flags, 13 trump signs, and 21 churches (mostly southern baptist) on the short drive to my grandma's house. but there is a small university campus nearby, there are visibly queer people on the sidewalks, and the local library is tiny but has a carefully curated selection of diverse writers. they even have a permanent Black Lives Matter display featuring new works from contemporary black writers. The graphic novel section in particular is filled with kid-friendly stories by international writers, introducing young readers to cultures from all around the world.

I can't quite imagine this happening 20 years ago, in the South I grew up in. Certainly not on this scale. I loved going to the library as a kid, but mostly I remember finding books by white authors about white characters. I didn't know queer literature existed; queer themes certainly weren't allowed openly in the children and teen section. As a child, my world was made large by books. But in hindsight, that world was small and monochrome. I learned about friendship and bravery and magical worlds, but I didn’t learn about the other types of people and cultures living with me in this world. I should have been encouraged to do both. All readers should.

My local librarians certainly seem to think so. Here are some of the books I stumbled upon last time I was at the library.

Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me - a lesbian love break-up story by Japanese Canadian writer Mariko Tamaki (I highly recommend all of her other works too)

The Death of Vivek Oji - a story of loss and identity by the nonbinary Nigerian writer Akwaeke Emezi

Persepolis - a coming-of-age story about the author Marjane Satrapi's childhood in Iran, growing up amidst revolution and war

The House In The Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune - a hope-filled story of magical misfit orphans and the two men who come together to protect them. Woven through with a gay love story with a happy ending.

Except for Persepolis, all of these are very recent publications. And I am so so excited to see what other new works and diverse voices the 2020s will bring to the shelves.

Anyway. Support libraries. Support education. Support public universities and other liberal enclaves. Give readers access to the stories they need to learn about our world and how colorful it truly is.
