I gotta say i really appreciate the way tw3 starts you off in the shittiest area of the world, velen, a desolate war torn countryside with very few inhabitants, then introduces you to the other cities later on. Like the moment I got to oxenfurt I realized how much I miss civilization being surrounded by crowded buildings and people!!! The world outside truly feels desolate and haunted in a away no other open world game has ever made me feel. Ending in Toussaint living out my days owning a vineyard was incredibly rewarding knowing all the shit Geralt had 2 go through to get there. Tw3 is truly a masterpiece (not just w level design but with the storytelling as well- very few game comes close to being that good in the writing department) it’s on sale on steam rn for 11 dollars it’s so worth it!

Here are my 3 personal best (in no particular order)

1.Tekken 3

The first time I truly enjoyed playing a fighting game (I still hate playing PvP in fighting games cuz an actual human is way better at it than me) was when I finally approached a real Tekken pro. A big arcade opened up in my city and I was the only girl who went there every weekend and buy 30 tokens (Php 90.00) to feed the various machines. I saw this tall college dude play King and I was mesmerized watching him pull all of Kings grapples. After several months, I watched him from behind, playing Tekken 3 until I muster up the courage to ask him how he pulled off all his moves. The college dud pulled a piece of paper and pen and began to write down all of Kings' combos and grabs, and gave it to me! Since then I have practiced on every Tekken 3 machine, pulled off all Kings' impressive grapples to a growing audience who couldn't believe their eyes that this little highschool girl is playing Tekken 3 and beating it! Oh and I became good at the games that I reduced my 30 tokens to 5.

2. Resident Evil 2 (PS1)

This game came with the console my mom gave me. First time I popped the disc in and chose Leon S Kennedy on normal mode, I was piled upon by zombies and died. That game over screen traumatized me and I did not pick up RE for months! When I did gave it a second chance, I notice there was a 3rd mode: ARRANGED. It made the game ridiculously easy by giving me all the weapons, and so I plowed through Raccoon City with my machine gun and rocket launcher. It was fun until it wasn't. I decided to play the game on Normal, got eaten and died, then powered through it. Finally beat the game on Normal and Hard. Also went for the S Rank and bonus content. Now I love all horror and survival horror games (Silent Hill, Outlast, Evil Within, etc). It became my favorite genre.

3. The Witcher 3

Had it not for this game, I wouldn't have made The Nilfgaardian Collection or started digital art. I think it was December 2019 (or 16 I dunno, it was Xmas), my brother gave me two choices: TW3 or FF15. I wanted FF15 cuz I have always been a fan of Final Fantasy and TW3 was hyped to the heavens. I wanted to know if the hype was justified and so I got TW3 GOTY edition. The hype... was well deserved! I was hooked, I plat the game, I decided to make fanarts of my fave character (Emhyr) and gave myself a goal: to have the biggest collection of Emhyr and Nilfgaard pics and be known as that crazy chick with an unhealthy obsession to Emhyr and his Nilfgaardian empire. Thus cemented the Nilfgaardian Collection in the fandom!

The thing about trying to wedge the Thronebreaker characters into some semblance of canonical shape is that it's an impossible task that involves as much banging on canon to get the dents out as on the characters. Questions you have to ponder:

1) do I care more about book canon or game canon at any given moment? For example, book Meve & Reynard look different from game Meve & Reynard, but how much do I care about that? I, an idiot with prosopagnosia (faceblindness!), can't really... picture book characters. So as far as I'm concerned their game faces are their faces.

2) how old are these people anyway? You get Gascon's age as 17 based on a throwaway line, which is a hilarious joke considering the like... everything else about him. Meve could functionally be anywhere between her late 30s and 60s (I guess she can tell Broover she's 40 or in her 40s at one point? I've never gotten that dialogue but I'd buy it). And Reynard is? Likely older than Meve by 5-10 years?? Dependent on when exactly he started serving as Reginald's aide. Idk, this is basic biographical information, it's not like it's important or anything 🙃

3) Villem is the oldest son but, critically, not by that much. So where the fuck is Anseis. Seriously. Lost track of an entire prince during a coup. I can't imagine for even a second that he was left to his own devices, 14ish years old and the next heir to the throne, with aep Dahy squatting in his exiled mother's castle and consolidating power faster than you can say "surplus to requirements." But he clearly survives to show up in TW3. Baby boy where are you what are you doing

The Witcher books Multiple translations exist. You can buy both physical copies or the e-books. There are PDFs of them floating around online also.

The Witcher comics (english translation) You can find these at various sources online in a variety of languages, or in bookstores!

The Witcher games (The Witcher, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt + DLCs) You can buy them yourself on Steam (or elsewhere), they're frequently on sale (as a bundle) on Steam for dirt-cheap. There are also playthroughs of all of the games available on youtube.

additionally there's Online Gwent (or stand-alone Gwent), which is free, though you can buy in-game items and things. The mechanics are different from TW3 Gwent. There's also Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales (available on steam; playthrough available on youtube), which makes use of the Online Gwent mechanics.

MY THOUGHTS (rabid fangirl ranting and rambling--SPOILER ALERT)

I’ve been replaying TW3 all summer. Best game of all time--fight me on this; I’ll Igni you in the frikkin face.

I swear, I was so frikkin happy when CDPR announced they’re doing TW4. Like, FINALLY. Leave Cyperpunk 2077 ALONE; you effed up, people don’t care what you fix anymore; its reputation’s already ruined.

Just go back to what you’re ACTUALLY good at, and give us more of that delicious witchering and butchering goodness!

I know CDPR said Geralt’s story’s done, which is fine--let him retire in style in Toussaint; he deserves it.

But Imma need TW4 to officially make Ciri a witcher.

I don’t care if the “best“ ending is to make her Empress, witcher!Ciri is my very favorite ending.

I get that, worldbuilding-wise, Ciri being empress is the best thing that can happen--all the other kings SUUUUUCK, so having her on the throne serves the greater good. But this is The Witcher, ffs--EFF the “greater good”!!

The Witcher is morally grey at BEST, where people are motivated by nothing but self interest, NOT self sacrifice.

In the very worst ending, Ciri becomes the ultimate martyr, sacrificing herself and dying for everyone’s sins to stop the White Frost; then Geralt effs off to the wilderness and basically kills himself.

So how is Ciri becoming queen supposed to be the “best”? Does this girl LOOK happy as royalty!?

All Ciri ever does is brag about beasts she’s slain and horse races she’s won and places she’s traveled to. So it just makes no sense to me that it would be BEST FOR CIRI for her to be shackled to some stupid throne she never asked for, in some stupid country she never lived in, for a stupid father she never met, when the entire game was all about her being wild and free, loving Geralt and Uncle Vesemir, and traveling on the Path.

Not to mention, it grosses me TF out how Emhyr (dad of the frikkin year ISTG 🙄) promised Empress Ciri to General Voorhis (that a-hole) in an arranged marriage that was HARDLY different from Avallach promising her to Eredin 🤮. And on top of that, if the player chooses to make Ciri a lesbian, then WTF are we doing consigning her to a loveless marriage to General Voorhis as queen?!

At least let Ciri marry Cerys! XD Ciri LOVES Skellige, and the whole An Craite clan loves Ciri, so that would just as easily solve CDPR wanting Ciri to remain as royalty, and also keep Skellige from going to war with Nilfgaard.

I SHIP IT. 😍

So yeah, I refuse to believe the Empress ending is canonically the “best” one. I will NEVER send Geralt & Ciri to Vizima, EFF EMHYR, eff Nilfgaard, and eff Voorhis while we’re at it.

In TW4 I hope they let us load our TW3 save, so Ciri can stay a witcher, and we can explore different worlds and times with her and her friends. CDPR already effed us over by not even having Ciri as an NPC in C2077, after all the easter eggs and hype, like WTF. A MAGAZINE!? That’s it? Are you effing kidding?

So if Ciri HAS to start off as empress in TW4, I hope she abdicates the throne once she realizes she effing hates being a pawn of Emhyr and the Lodge of Sorceresses--don’t forget about those scheming wenches! Philippa would’ve been in her ear the whole time--how is THAT a good ending for anyone?

PLEASE, CDPR, don’t eff this up. 🙏

Oh hey it’s me again! I am one of the ones that had gushed about how amazing your Chamomile and Gwent series is. Little did I know… there were two more installments! I kid you not, for the past couple of weeks, I’ve been religiously pacing it out, reading a little bit as a treat every time I need a break and I am just past the middle of the last installment! Once again, wow! Thanks for sharing this - there is something about the way you write Geralt that is somehow realistic and kind of believable for a ‘dreamboat guy’ if you know what I mean. And you know what? I finally downloaded Steam for Mac and got myself Witcher 3! I got to know about the Witcher through the Netflix series and as a past avid gamer, I wanted to dive into the game yet never did it for fear or losing oodles of time ahah. So now I have it, planning to play it in easy mode over the Xmas holidays - thanks to you! And I wish I had the time to read the whole book series cos once again - your work gives a wonderful glimpse at how complex and amazing the worldbuilding is - so I think these folks should pay you handsomely for your free marketing! Jokes aside, I feel your work makes fanfic stand out in all the best possible ways. Way to go! Have you ever thought of branching out on original stories, thinking of getting published? As for original fic: I honestly just love writing fanfic so much and I don't have any major interest in writing anything original! My fiance and I have talked about writing a sci-fi/romance together where he would basically provide the worldbuilding and plot bones while I deal with the romance and the actual writing, but it's always been more hypothetical than anything because I'm constantly busy writing fictional sex for other properties' fictional men 😂😂😂 I will throw it out there that I have a Kofi in case you want to throw me some money, but honestly, messages like this one are worth more than money to me 😂❤

Finally, assuming that it was also you who wrote to me about Brian K. Vaughan's Saga series? I had never heard of this! But it's mostly because I don't read a lot of graphic novels - The Watchmen is literally the only one, although now I'm reading the Sailor Moon manga and reliving my childhood in ways that my childhood self could NEVER have fully appreciated and having the time of my life LOL!

Thank you so much! I did feel momentarily self-conscious upon receiving this, but that is not your fault. Quite the opposite. It's always pleasantly shocking when the sudden knocking on your door culminates in well-wishes. Speaking into a killing silence is hardly any writer's idea of self-sustaining, I think, and doubly so for those of us who muck about with fan creations.

I'd love if I could make a book of this (or an essay-collection), but that'll be something of my own; Wiedźmin is Sapkowski's. Hearing there's love & interest (!) for my little stories & thoughts in this universe makes me happy I put time into them instead of something else, though. There's never enough time, after all, and it's pretty hard to justify it to myself over the long term if competition for time should arise. So thank you & feel free to write any time.

And seriously. Please mean to! With everyone you ever come across & feel comortable contacting. It's not weird to say you like something someone has opinioned or created! It's vital & great! You never know what a little everyday good here & there can accomplish.
