had an appointment at the kidney clinic today. i have polycystic kidney disease (pkd) and we're going to start me on a medication to slow down the cyst growth so i have to be monitored by a clinic now. most of my numbers look good, which i have to say i was surprised by aha. the doctor is a little concerned about my blood pressure, but otherwise, things are looking okay. My kidney function is slowly falling, but that is to be expected with pkd, and it's at an okay percentage that we don't need to be concerned right now.
this is kind of a weird first post, sharing medical updates lol, but that's what happened today, so it's going in the diary.

"After several reports from Granite Falls visitors describing a creature seen deep in the woods surrounding the popular trails, one young camper set out to film footage of what has been locally named the 'Granite Falls Gargoyle'. The camper fortunately made it to their lodging safe, but shaken. Footage has been forwarded to authorities for further investigation but until action has been taken, Granite Fall's campsite is closed to visitors, and locals are strongly urged to remain in their houses until authorities have uncovered what this creature is, or if its just an elaborate prank"

This is the first time I've asked a question, but first I just wanted to say that I love your art!! I wonder what the archivists' anatomy must be like, do they have organs? or they would be made of some space material or even have a vital core made of a star.
Tumblr media
got two very simillar questions very close and one about skin that vanished for some reason from my inbox, so yeah, thanks for that tumblr, but anyway
The way I envision physical form is more of a mimicry of a body than an actual organic entity. Particles of stardust being moved and reshaped by the magic they consist of, sticking together to form an approximation of a mortal body and functioning as an outer shell to protect it. The thing about muscles is that they use relatively little energy compared to the work they do; they mostly need some to contract, tendons working as ropes pulling bones, while reshaping the whole arm to move it I imagine would require much more energy. (Its why as very small kids they are more glowy and "fluid" more reshaping). There isn't much difference between the Collector conjuring a doll in WaD and conjuring a form. With magic suppliying energy there isn't really a need for organs, its just the basic mechanical system to interact with physical world
Tumblr media
For the bluish patches on the skin, it's where the magic seeps through. That's why they get darker and cover more area as they get older, having more magic at their disposal. Shapes are sort of souvenirs from the time as shapless magical creature mimicked the things around them, be it a bright star or a nearby planet they formed close to. As for why it's the color it is, it's just the color celestial magic takes in that form
Froooom a more design point of view, it looked better to have a bluish hue to me, and it's a element to distinguish between characters and keep them looking like family since drawing faces is tricky. And I do like the body horror aspect of unorganic creatures trying to mimic living

Hey, so I have some bad news
One of my kitties is super sick, and I’m getting really worried for her
I don’t know if it’s depression, or something else… and no one in my family cares enough to find out. So… I may be a little bit down if…. Something seems to happen

Hi friends, as some of you know I'm struggling to find work after being losing my job in February. My kitty Earl is now having dental problems that need to be addressed asap. Right now I'm pooling together all the money and credit I can find to make sure Earl gets the care he needs, I have also set up a ko-fi. Please don't feel obligated to donate! But if you would like to, the option is there. Regardless of if you donate or not, I want to thank you all for your love and support 💗

2 months ago, I failed a class in medical school.
It was never something I imagined happening to me, especially because I’ve been anxious about tests before and would still end up scraping by. I figured my test anxiety this time around was no different and I could continue to ignore my mental health steadily declining over the month I took this class as I let stressors around me pile on and compound. I just wanted it all to be over.
Failing the class forced me to confront how I was ignoring things. It forced me to change how I studied, forced me to ask for help— from my school and from my friends, hell even from my parents whom I was afraid of letting down the most. And the healing process sucked— I would feel happy for a moment, only to have a fear in the back of my mind that it would be short lived and I’d be stuck feeling hopeless again. I was terrified I’d see a repeat of this unit in the last final of the year. It took me weeks to get back to a place where I felt mentally sound enough to get back into learning everything all over again, studying it like I’d never seen it before. It was easier once, when I reminded myself I deserved love and happiness, I finally started believing it.
Yesterday, I remediated the class with a makeup exam and passed it with flying colors. The quote is inspired from a line in my review book— “This too shall pass. Just like a kidney stone.”

Listen. I JUST had a kidney stone and it was worse than period cramps my dude person. My fellow human. Please please please pleeeeease. Drink straight water too. I do not wish that pain on ANYONE. Ever. It landed me sweaty, in ER, silently screaming and twisting in the bed, and hyperventilating. Like BamSara, please, be be be careful. I never hit a lvl 10 pain scale and I genuinely thought I was going to croak. I don’t wish that kind of PAIN on even my worst enemy. For real.
And I have health insurance but my bill was 2,300-ish $$
I’ve cut back on coffee and Dr Pepper… I’m also 32 so I dunno if age factors into that
I have both great and terrible news: I have already had kidney stones slkdhglksdhgsd
I had 8 of them, and one of them got stuck in the tract for a while. I thought it was P Cramps too and since it was late at night/early in the morning I decided to see if I could wait it out (plus also hospital is expensive) and so I ended up doubled on the floor, curled up and sobbing in pain near some of my own vomit completely unable to move
Finally went to the ER after 6 hours of agony and they were like 'why didnt you come earlier' and 'welp theres nothing we can really do outside of manage the damage and give you some strong painkillers and morphine'
But yeah anyone who's reading this don't be like me, kidney stones are very painful. Still drinking this cup tho

How the hell did you survive the explosion of planet Namek? I know you're tough but you were missing half your head, what happened to your brain?
This answer is a bit bloody, so I’ll put it under a cut for those of weak constitution. Short version: I didn’t.
It took twenty-six hours of surgery and several medical breakthroughs to get me conscious again; evidently my heart stopped three times, and by the third I was officially declared dead. Daddy Dearest persuaded the medical team into breaking resuscitation policy. In total I lost half my fluid volume, three limbs, a kidney, most of my digestive system, and a hefty chunk of brains (all of which were thankfully returned to me upon my resurrection, so don’t go making any jokes about brain damage). I’d been in shock for days when they found me. Total shutdown.
That’s not a fun answer, but you have only yourself to blame. You did ask, after all.
Actually, they kept the tapes from the procedure. I’ve watched them a few times—when I’m able to swallow my revulsion, they’re fascinating to pick apart.

Might put out a spooky dpxdc drabble on Halloween.
This is to say that I've spent a good 20min researching the most nutritious parts of the body. I am probably on an FBI watchlist or something now.
