You know, half the time when I get these kinds of asks, it's from someone who just saw something marked with Shinigami eyes and of questionable reputability, because I go to the person's blog and there's basically nothing controversial there, or at most something that's transphobic if you squint. But if you search the right tags, this person's blog is filled with transmisogyny that's so breathtakingly rancid, a la straight up just calling pictures of real trans women ugly and disgusting, that it actually made me a little depressed thinking of transfemmes having to read that kind of shit when we're all going through our own struggles of identity and emotional wellbeing together as a community.

My normal response is to not be too concerned about "de-platforming" via knee-jerk reactions to anything that doesn't exactly align with "correct" paradigms, especially on a post that had nothing to do with anything transphobic in the first place, but I don't want this person on my blog at all. I have deleted the post and blocked this person, although it doesn't look like they're active anymore.

not nearly enough people are fuming about the cass review. do you understand the eventual implications? trans people in the uk will be considered children up until the age of 25, and denied HRT/surgery/even basic measures like legal name change and social transition. all owing to a biased and largely unscientific study. you know what “treatment” for gender dysphoria is recommended by the review instead? conversion therapy.

this will kill people and they know it, because they prefer us dead and out of sight. the government, the NHS and even the opposition have made this clear again and again. a twenty-five year old can have sex, get married have children, join the military, earn a living, be halfway up the corporate ladder or highly successful in their chosen career field by that age, but they can’t transition under NHS rules. this is a death sentence for trans teenagers and they are going ahead with it. it’s trans genocide, same as across the pond.

i’m so afraid for my trans siblings and our futures. i’m so scared for myself. what are we to do if not even the party that is supposed to be on the “left” gives a shit about our safety and mental health as long as they get voted in? labour have become tories with a red coat of paint. it all feels hopeless

I was hanging out at the karaoke bar, chatting with a beautiful woman, and we were really hitting it off. I threw a couple of flirtatious comments her way. She giggled nervously, but abruptly stopped and looked at the floor.

She told me that she was too nervous to hit on people because she's trans and worries that people will view her as a predator and that she might get hurt.

My heart sank. I let her know that she could hit on me in whatever way she wanted and I would LOVE it. We spent the rest of the night hanging out and flirting. We ended up making out. It was great.

But I can't stop thinking about how that wasn't the first time a trans woman has said that to me. About how unsafe it is for some women that they feel the need to give out fucking disclaimers to have normal interactions with people.

We have GOT to make the world a safer place for trans women. It pisses me off that there are men at the bar who are openly predatory towards me without fear of consequence, yet a trans woman is too scared to even fucking call me pretty. And that's because she IS more likely to face worse consequences for lesser things! Like what the fuck!

You need to always check on your internalized biases. Being queer yourself doesn't absolve you of transmisogynistic thoughts and behaviors. Being bi/pansexual doesn't mean you don't hold those biases either! If you feel differently about a trans woman hitting on you than you feel about a cis woman or a man hitting on you, you need to evaluate that.

Trans women, I love you so fucking much. You should be able to express attraction and love as freely as everyone else. I hope you can always feel safe around me. And I'll never stop fighting until you can feel safe period.

genuinely a lot of you need to sit the fuck down and think about whether you actually support transfeminine people or you're just chasers. cause a lot of this site's support seems to be "uwu fuck me big strong dommy mommy" "I want a sexy trans goth gf so bad" etc etc and it's so gross. like i dont think attraction the inherent problem here or anything but when every single post asking "do you actually support trans women/transfeminine ppl?" has some chucklefuck in the notes going "haha yeah, I support her ON TOP OF ME!" it gets really obvious that you do not actually know how to support them without sexualizing them. and that's. really incredibly not okay.

tw: rape, transphobia and transmisogyny, murder

I watched part of a Law and Order SUV episode today that was about a trans woman(Cheryl) who murderdered a man who tried to sexually assault her (self defense) but because she was trans, she was being treated poorly by court, and it was honestly heart breaking that a show that came out almost 20 years ago shows stuff that to this day is the reality to many trans people around the world (especially in the USA).

Because they put her in a men´s cell, and her lawyer advocated for her to be put in the women´s one and they were denied (one character even had the audacity to say they won´t put a ``man`` in a woman´s cell). Because she didn´t have the surgery and because she was self medicating her hormones, they treated her as a man. To the point were the promoter didn´t want to go on cause she knew the jury would be biased because of her gender. She gets misgendered so much. And Cheryl is convicted and thrown in a men´s prison, and her getting dragged from court while screaming for someone to help/save he hurt to watch.

And we get to the very end. The promoter feels like she fucked up and the main girl (who i really don´t remember her name but it´s the protagonist) is also feeling down about what happened (she was one of the few people advocating for Cheryl) and she gets called to a hospital about a rape victim.

And we see Cheryl, bruised and unconcious while being taken to the hospital, and we hear a nurse saying that she had been raped by a gang of men inside the prison. Just like she said would happen.

It hurts that this episode came out years ago and this still happens.

Transmisogyny is not formulated as misogyny aimed at “failed men” because trans women are not failed men! they are women! Insisting otherwise is straightforwardly transmisogynistic! Trans women are treated like failed women, they are not “failed men” because trans women are not treated like men if they are outted or don’t pass - a failed man is still a man, a trans woman is not a man, they are not treated like men, when they are misgendered or harassed or violated or attacked they are being treated like disposable, failed women, not men, never men - they are not afforded that privilege because they are not men and are not viewed as men, especially not by cis society. This is not a coherent articulation of transmisogyny because it is a description of the intersection of (say it with me children!) transphobia and misogyny, a compounding oppression that treats trans women as sexual predators, as dangerous, as degenerate women, not as “failed” men, whatever the fuck that means. While I've been searching up conversations on the way callout culture is weaponized as an instrument of transmisogynistic I've come across a sentiment repeated multiple times by non-transfems, that trans women speaking out against this phenomena are themselves abusers, or speaking against callout culture to "protect abusers in our midst". They hold that the current usage of callouts is justified by implying that our community is filled with sexual deviants. They could barely be any more mask off with how they view trans women. They are not holding other group to this standard. They don't seem to advocate for witch-hunts to root out the sexual deviants among other groups. You can just say you view all trans women as sexual predators that need rooting out at this point.
