How did Twilight feel growing up with they eyes of a Goddess on her, the high (for mortals anyway) expectations of a divine being. As a mortal I can see it being suffocating. How did the ponies around her besides friends and family treat her before her ascension? Was she an important public figure even before her ascension due to her connection to Celestia?
As a filly, she didn't really get it. It was kind of like Yay the president thinks you're cool! Without really realizing that's not the president. that's god.
Plus Celestia had a hooves-off approach for a while, speaking to twilight's teachers instead of her directly.
She had them teach twilight in the ways of magic, and was pleased to see how skilled and powerful twilight was. But then when she checked in next, twilight was alone. Eschewing other ponies for books. This is not the best for a foal who got Celestia's attention through an act of friendship. She was hoping that Twilight would be able to harness the Elements of Harmony, but the foal had changed.
In the blink of a god's eye, the filly became a reclusive, academic mare. How could this diligent but uptight adult use the elements of laughter, loyalty, generosity, honesty, and kindness, when she had no one to be loyal, kind, honest, and generous to? And she Never laughed.
No no no, this was wrong. Having her studying magic all her life was a mistake. There's no way she could be more than a scholar. No way Celestia could get her to solve... the nightmare moon problem.
Twilight had spent so long in her books, she uncovered the thousand year anniversary was approaching and had reached out to the sun for help.
The sun, in response, sent her away. She looked all over equestria for a place that would work... aha! Here was a place with friendship overflowing. Send her there before it's too late.
Get out of your books Twilight Sparkle! you will need more than Magic alone to face the challenges the cosmos has in store. Perhaps the citizens of Ponyville can teach her lessons the goddess could not.

Stephenie Meyer, unfortunately the author of the Twilight saga, has three brothers. Their names are Jacob, Paul, and Seth. Bella is undoubtedly a self insert character, and was given the name because that’s what Stephenie wanted to name her daughter. Do with this information what you will.

God I fucking hate reading Eclipse.
On another note - does Bella ever explicitly tell Jacob that Edward can't read her mind? Cause they never have the conversation in NM, I've checked twice, and I don't recall it happening in Eclipse. But in the Eclipse tent scene Jacob suddenly asks whether Edward would prefer to hear Bella's thoughts or not. Did I miss/forget something or did smeyer just never actually write about it?

Phasing - Re: Leah, Billy, Jacob
[Why Leah didn't phase when the Cullens first returned, was Billy Black ever a wolf and why Jacob phased after the Cullens left]
In the Twilight universe, some members of the Quileute Tribe can 'phase' into werewolves under a few conditions:
They must be a direct descendant of Taha Aki, the first Quileute to phase (early 13th century). These descendants "are born with twenty-four chromosomal pairs rather than the twenty-three pairs of a normal human"
"This extra chromosome will not have any effect on the carrier if he or she is not in close proximity to vampires during all or part of the critical time between the onset of puberty and the age of twenty-five. If the potential werewolf is not exposed to vampires within this window of time, transformation will never occur. It is the scent of the vampires that triggers the reaction.."
When in close proximity to vampires, it is always the youngest in each family's lineage to phase, becoming a "protector" against the vampires
If the youngest member in a given family's lineage is not between the onset of puberty and 25, they will not phase and neither will their parents/elders
(It is "based on two factors: heritage and the proximity of vampires")
The other factors worth considering are:
"One factor affecting which members of the tribe transform is the number of vampire scents in the area"
"... the pack has usually consisted of three members. With most vampires traveling alone or in pairs, there was never a need for more..."
Members with the strongest blood ties phase first. As more vampires are present, tribe members with weaker blood ties start to phase
Until 2006, only male carriers of the gene had gained the ability to transform
The Cullens first moved to Hoquiam (aprx. 100 miles from La Push) in 1936. At this point, the confirmed "protectors" are Ephraim Black, Quil Ateara II and Levi Uley. Tracing their lineages it is probable that none of them had children that had reached transformation age yet. Billy Black was not born until the late 1950's so he obviously couldn't have phased here. However, the Cullens stayed in the area until 2003 when they moved to Forks (only ~16 miles from the Quileutes in La Push). Though Ephraim Black was likely deceased by this time, his grandson Billy was well past 25 (about 50) and Jacob Black was born but was only 13, meaning neither of them could transform (cond. 2).
Let's put a pin in that to quickly talk about Jacob. It makes sense that he didn't phase in 2003 when the Cullens arrived in Forks because he was only 13. But the Cullens left Forks in September of 2005 and Jacob didn't phase until February, 2006. There were only 2 vampires present in Forks when Jacob first phased, Laurent and Victoria. The Cullen family consists of 7 vampires, so why didn't he transform while they were around? Well, the transformation had actually already started before they left. The first sign of transformation in male gene carriers is a "noticeable growth spurt". When Jacob goes to see Bella at the prom in May, 2005 she comments on how much Jacob has grown.
Tumblr media
(Twilight, Epilogue)
So this leaves me with one question unanswered. Going back to 2003, when the Cullens moved to Forks, the only Quileute who phased was Sam Uley, who was 17 at the time. But so was Leah Clearwater. So why didn't she also phase? At this point in time, there had never been a female werewolf, but Leah did eventually become the first around March of 2006, also after the Cullens had left. We can assume that the transformation had began before they left, just like Jacob. So the question is:
Why didn't Leah phase when Sam did in 2003?
There is no definitive answer to this that I can find. The real answer is "Smeyer didn't think that far" but, in universe, it seems like female werewolves were supposed to only be possible under exceptional circumstances. Perhaps, it was supposed to be the passing of her father that triggered her transformation, but we can rule that out because, when she first phased, "She was arguing with her mother about her mood swings, and her father joined the conversation in support of her mother. Leah was so angry that her whole body started shaking, and then she exploded into a werewolf...". So if Smeyer's intended reasoning is "exceptional circumstances", she either forgot or there just isn't a real reason, at least not one that I could find.
- Edited for corrections

I have this whole Twilight literary universe worked out with at least three central love stories around Paul, Seth and Embry. I probably have story material for an entire trilogy if I actually sat myself down and wrote the damn thing.
It has its own lore around vampires and werewolves, its own history too. I fixed a lot of smeyers obvious plot holes and mistakes and made everything more fun and interesting.
In my opinion it is the superior version of the franchise and I would really like to share but I am so overwhelmed and terrified of starting to work through the years and years of materials that I have.
I thought about posting some of it as one shots or short stories but I don't know if anyone would get or enjoy that since people are lacking the context that only exists in my brain so far.
But then again I just kind of really want to post it.

Do Twilight vampires:
A. Have dazzling too-white teeth as part of their unnatural beauty?
B. Have stained teeth because of all the blood they drink?
C. Mostly have stained teeth, but the Cullens don't because they're ~civilised~ enough to brush their teeth after they've been hunting?

I really resonate with Rosalie from twilight because she didn’t ask to be apart of this togetherness that Carlisle is pushing on everyone, plus she’s forced to risk her “life” for this silly wanna be a vampire ass bitch so bad like..side eye

What we call "ponies" are actually 3 different species that have managed to intertwine with each other through centuries of love and friendship.
Earth ponies are unique in their strength and solid, powerful hooves built for running and moving heavy objects. Ancient ponies only displayed earth tones in their fur and hair, but even one pegasus ancestor many generations ago can imbue colorful hues to all their descendents.
Pegasus are completely covered in feathers, with long feathers forming crests much like horses' mane and tails. They are usually the smallest species, but some exceptions do appear. Hooves are usually small and cloven, with prehensile dewclaws for gripping branches and perching in trees.
Unicorns are much closer to deer than horses, and their horns are actually a set of two antlers that wind around each other from a single base. The coiled structure pulls magic from the world around them and concentrates it at the tip, allowing the unicorn to cast whatever spells it wishes, while the other species can only use magic for flight and affecting the environment.
That is, until new alicorns began to ascend and through their power, grant magical properties to intangible concepts like friendship and love
Alicorns are mysterious, ethereal giants who fill the entire sky as they pass by. They are not a mix of unicorns, pegasus, and earth ponies, but a creature beyond any of the species; an ascended form that could supposedly happen to anyone... But but that's just an old foals' tale. Right?

Was Cadence Twilight’s babysitter in your au? If so, was this before/after she starting dating Shining Armor? I have a theory it’s no coincidence Celestia’s student was being watched by the fledgling goddess of love
Cadance was a young goddess before either of them were born. She was often found on the grounds of Canterlot's magic school, studying both magic and politics for her eventual rule.
She loved spending time with the young foals of the school, not just twilight, although celestia told her to pay extra attention. At the same time, a young stallion named Shining Armor was promoted to captain of the guard for his powerful protection abilities. He was assigned to protect the princess, and that meant... getting to know her.

Ok ok so Time and Winds relationship
If you look at their progression of interactions through the comic, their relationship has a very distinct storyline/character arc and it's really really cool ok
So starting at the beginning (their first and early interactions).
Time likes Wind (I mean who doesn't) they have the hero connection, and there's a lot for Time to see himself in him.
Tumblr media
Time doesn't underestimate Wind like some of the others, he knows perfectly well what's it's like to be a young hero (way too young like geez) and still be perfectly capable.
And then everyone splits up. They enter their new timeline/era thing through the portal and they separate into groups to try and find information, and Time and Wind go together. (why is that? Maybe Wind went with who he knew wouldn't underestimate him, and maybe Time wanted to get to know him a little more. Many possibilities.)
With the group split they end up fighting a bunch of monsters (of course). And the scene after the battle is just... Time takes Wind’s sword and compliments it, the art is so soft, it's just... it's the start of them have a really caring connection
Tumblr media
ALSO- TIME QUOTING SHADE TO WIND TIME QUOTING SHADE TO WIND
Tumblr media
Look of a hero, discipline with the blade... those were phrases used in twilight princess by Hero's Shade (Time's skeleton ghost thingy?) when he’s teaching Twilight how to fight and become the hero he needs to be. And the fact that Time is quoting that to be Wind's mentor and guide him as a young hero is so cool. (So. Cool.)
And at the end, after the battle, Wind asks him that question, “I was wondering... about your original journey” And Time actually answers Wind's question. He tells him about his journey, and this starts a whole new chapter in their relationship. Because guess who went into detective mode? Wind.
He starts theorizing, and actually tries to get a chance to bring it up at first (“speaking of history-”), but eventually finds (makes) a moment to explain his findings.
Tumblr media
And Time's skeptical, of course he is.
There's a few reasons why, but here's the main one: Twilight. In this scene where Wind is explaining why he believes he is the hero after Time, his descendant, Twilight, makes two appearances.
Tumblr media
But Twilight is not part of the conversation. He's sitting a distance away, and we have no indication that he even knows they’re talking. Yet Time still looks over to him, because Twilight is his descendant. He KNOWS Twilight is his successor, but in this conversation they puzzle out a bit more of the timeline split.
And Time realizes... he has two hero's that came after him. Twilight in the main path, the one that Time previously believed was the only timeline, but there's actually more...
Tumblr media
And at the end of that section, Time’s a little overwhelmed (who wouldn't be when you're figuring out you broke the flow of time...)
But, this is the start of Time and Wind’s relationship with Time knowing Wind's one of his successors
Yet even though he's overwhelmed, he touches Wind and acknowledges the facts he's puzzled out (and it's so so sweet)
Tumblr media
Buuuuuut this starts a whole new chapter in their relationship. For the section where they’re puzzling out the timeline, and the next, look at their faces. You can see it in those conversations, they're uncertain. Time is trying to reshape his understanding of the world (he’s shaken and looks pretty tired, probably because he found out he left a whole timeline without a hero whoopsies)- but he also cares about Wind and wants to be there for him as well. And Wind looks very nervous around Time. He's excited that he knows he's the hero he heard about before him, but he's nervous about getting closer to him like he wants to.
Then Time goes into detective mode.
And there’s one thing Time really starts wondering: how the hell did Wind’s hyrule get flooded? It was not, in fact, a giant ocean when he left that timeline. So he asks, and Wind answers, but they don’t really start timeline talk with the rest of the group yet.
Tumblr media
And I would like to point out that apparently Time and Wind have like. Half the brain cells of the entire group. Because we see literally no one else (at this point) has had whole sections where they’re puzzling out the timeline, but these two are over here obsessing over it lol.
After they have those talks about timelines and kingdoms, they don’t have all the answers yet, but what they have established is this: in Wind’s timeline, he is Time’s successor, and they both want to be close because of that.
And then Time just like!! Adopts Wind :)
With all this build up and conversations, we now see Time and Wind spending so much more time together.
In the group they start ending up walking near each other more often, and they start fighting closer together in battles a bit more
But it’s not one sided- we see Time keeping an eye on and watching out for Wind during battle, as well as Wind defending Time when a skeleton was like. Falling on them. And they’re just working and fighting for each other and it’s awesome.
Tumblr media
And it’s cool because through the storyline we see the progression: Time’s the hero dad for everybody, but then he and Wind fight together, and start talking about their journeys to each other, then puzzling out the timeline, then acknowledging that Wind is a successor to Time, and asking questions, and then we see them get so much closer throughout the storyline.
(And Time is still so close to Twilight obviously, he’s his descendant and they have such a special bond but then he’s also developed this unique relationship with Wind too and it’s great)
And so it’s just evolved into a really sweet relationship because Wind looks up to Time, and Time is kind of his mentor, but at the same time he respects Wind’s strength.
And the fact that in the first place Time was willing to tell Wind about his journey simply because he asked, leading to all these discussions and getting closer… well. They care for each other, and it shows.

Twilight lore: How did the Quileutes earn money
This was asked on Reddit so thought I'd share what I found (according to the official illustrated guide)
Billy Black used to be a commercial fisherman and "is currently on disability"
Sue Clearwater is a registered nurse
Emily Young "teaches weaving and traditional Makah and Quileute arts at the local high school and nearby community colleges"
Jacob's sister Rachel graduated from Washington State with a degree in computer engineering and "She decided to work from home in La Push until Paul was able to leave with her."
Tiffany Call works at the cash register at a souvenir shop on the beach (Breaking Dawn, Chp. 8)
In the Twilight universe, the Quileutes mostly live off the land and rely on hunting, fishing, etc. and Jacob can always fix cars if need be.
