despite the new season the series finale of Futurama was so perfect 🥺🥹🫶
time standing still while Leela & Fry grow old together. the stillness & silence doesn't bother them, all they need is each other as they go on their adventure that spans their lifetime. it's beautiful to them, it's calm, their love is enough. & when they decide to do it all over again, restart their journey, rediscover their love, they want to read the story again.
their love literally transcends time itself. 😭💞💖💗

Horizon AU: Twin Flames
Zero Dawn Act - Chapter 4: “New Game Start”
“What if Beta grew up with Aloy as an outcast?”

Path to Mother's heart - hours later. The sun was high, and a gentle wind blew from the mountains. The festivities inside Mother's Heart had not diminished in the slightest, instead, they sounded even louder. The sisters sat under a tall tree to try and recompose themselves. They hugged each other to find some comfort in their hearts. What Rost had done was beyond painful.  Beta hiccuped as she cried, while Aloy looked more composed. Her eyes looked vacant, but inside, she was just the same panic her little sister was. "He…He really left us…." Beta mumbled between hiccups. "We have no home anymore too…" Aloy carefully moved to look her sister in the eyes without letting go of her embrace. "Sunshine…" she spoke tenderly, stroking her sister's cheek. "It took me a long time to understand this, but home isn't a place. It’s…It's where your heart is. It's to be with the people you care for." Beta took a moment to process. "So…As long as we stick together, we'll always be at home, right, moonbeam?" Aloy was tired of so much crying and stress, but she nodded with a smile and gently kissed her little sister's temple, then they retook their hug.  Beta felt her nervousness start to fade as she took in Aloy's calm composure, trying to match her breathing to her sister's. As she closed her eyes, she could feel the familiar warm blanket of safety and comfort, and soon she was able to understand what her sister had meant. She took a few minutes to take in the warmth of her sister's embrace, but eventually, Aloy let her go as she got up. She held out her hand to Beta, a sign telling her to do the same. There was nowhere for them to return to. All they could do now was to continue moving forward toward the Proving.

i have to say, though i know netflix is no great ally to queer people, trans people especially, i am very glad that at the end of their twin flames docuseries they include that statistic that less than 1% of people who transition regret it

Escaping Twin Flames Review - Exposes Love 'Coaches'
Jeff and Shaleia Divine claim they can help you find your soulmate, AKA your "twin flame." Read our review of the Netflix documentary "Escaping Twin Flames," which exposes how the couple manipulated and exploited several members in their cult-like group.
Would you pay money to find love? Lot of people around the world are already investing significant funds to discover the “right one,” such as paying for premium memberships on dating websites or, in a country like India, subscribing to paid services on matrimonial websites. Remember Seema aunty from the Netflix show “Indian Matchmaking“, who charged a hefty sum to help wealthy families find…

First of all, thanks so much for sharing your books recs and reviews. I love reading your blog (especially since I did not find many books blog that as good as you in tumblr). 💐🥰
Can I ask your opinion on something? So, I saw some discussion on why shounen series (or series with strong bromance vibes) have more romantic vibes than BL manga/mahwa (MLM books). (Sorry, do you like any BL manga/manhwa or shounen series?) And I kinda agree. But what do you think?
Sorry for this random ask, feel free if you want to ignore this ask....
wow thank you! i love sending my bookish posts into the void and i love it even more when the void expresses its appreciation haha
i didn't know about this discourse but in general i agree with the controversial (?) opinion that non-canon queer-coded or homosocial relationships oftentimes make for more compelling ships than their canon counterparts. one could argue that it's bc something that is just out of reach feels more appealing than something that you already have but in regards to my personal frustrations when reading romance stories and plotlines it often comes down to how the relationship of characters who the author already decided are going to fall in love has little room to breathe beyond that - the sword of damocles of romance is constantly hanging over them and determining their entire narrative. there's little intrigue in that bc when you're an experience reader or a genre-savvy media consumer you know exactly how it's gonna go, bit by bit.
furthermore, i think it's interesting that women and people who used to identify as women when they were young are likelier to write an explicit romance or a canon queer relationship bc they have been socialized to value that type of fiction and in doing that they will, whether by intention or not, regurgitate all the possible tropes and clichées which doesn't necessarily make their original story a compelling romance. by contrast, people who grew up socialized as men have been taught to suppress emotions and value no homo male bonds with their bros which is why a stereotypical cishet male sff author will 1) write an absolutely yucky romance for his male lead and his female love interest, 2) rather die than acknowledge that queerness exists and 3) pour all the most profound and intense feelings his conscious and subconscious mind is capable of into the depiction of the male lead's relationship with his male sidekick. ambiguity tends to make things more interesting so no wonder people will feel more drawn to a ship that is ambiguously homosocial in eve kosofsky sedgwick's sense rather than to a ship that is merely a love story between two people of the same gender.
which brings me to my last (more personal) point: as someone who has been socialized as a woman i am slightly obsessed with romance. however, as someone who identifies as aroace i don't find most romance books or even romance subplots relatable or compelling. this contradiction is a source of constant frustration that accompanies my reading experience - i often seek out romance books bc i do so enjoy a good love story and end up disappointed and alienated most of the time bc of this built in failure to connect with fiction that is written by allos for allos. for example, i have tried to take refuge in historical mm romance bc i figured that neither comphet nor modern identity politics would spoil the magic of two people falling in love for me in this case. however, having read quite a few of those, i have noticed this compulsion the authors have to 1) let the reader know by any means necessary and as soon as possible that the characters in question are in fact into men and 2) state explicitly that these men find each other attractive - a compulsion that speaks to the allo experience of being aware (most of the time) what type of person you're attracted to and being able to interpret a perceived connection as romantic or sexual attraction almost immediately. a compulsion which i, as an aroace reader, find utterly bizarre and terribly frustrating. not to shame allos for how their sexuality works or anything, but i think trying to convince the reader that two characters are into each other without relying on these two conveniences would be a good writing exercise.
by comparison, a relationship that is just allowed to develop without its participants interpreting it as a romance (bc the author who wrote it didn't intend them to at all) feels like freedom. yes, it's unfortunate that they won't kiss or fuck in the end of all that quality time but ah well, i can go to ao3 for that. and yes, if they're not canonically queer it's not real rep etc etc but i think that by now we have all understood that media consumption is not activism and queer rep in your favorite tv show will not bring about the age of tolerance. what i'm talking about in this post is why it sometimes feels like queer fiction fails to depict queerness and romance in a compelling way.

A Letter to all Flames
My Dearest Twin Flames, It has been an age since I last wrote to you, and for that I apologise. The time has slipped by so fast, that I find myself looking around, slightly dazed, wondering what happened to the last decade. Because for the last decade, I have spent much of my time in love with, and addicted to, my twin flame. Yes, addicted. Because the love I feel for them is a drug, they are…

Rost's Shack - sunrise time. "Rost! Rooooooost!" Aloy and Beta began calling out once they found that Rost wasn't there like usual. "Seriously? Two days before the proving, and he goes off without us?" Aloy complained. "Well, he said he'd go hunting this morning…" Beta responded. Huffing, Aloy stepped out to the balcony of the shack among Beta. The sisters ran down the path in the front yard, looking for Rost. Once they were outside, they saw him far up a hill nearby. "Did he want to be alone?" Beta asked, confused. "I guess…?" Aloy responded, confused as well, as that wasn't a common habit from Rost. Before they said anything, Rost noticed them close. "Girls, come here, please." Quickly, they reached him.  "Is everything alright?" Aloy asked, looking worried. Rost took a breath, leveling the worry from his face. "I’ve been thinking about your training. You learned how to hunt, to survive," he paused. "But I'm afraid there's a lesson I failed to teach you. Are you willing to learn?"

January 18th, it was 1:14am when I received a "Restricted" phone call. I picked up and while I was trying to figure out who was on the other end, they went on to say something repulsive " Are you home? Do you want me to go to your house right now?" I don't know why, I instantly got the shivers and I proceeded to hang up.
Leaving me restless awake still trying to figure out who it was. A very huge part of me hoped that it was Troy. The voice wasn't matching his though.
Fast forward to 2 am. A car pulled up outside my house, blasting "La Diabla" by Xavi. Something told me to run to the window, which I did. I sat there observing this Blue car I've never seen before trying to make out the individuals inside. With my luck, someone had just been standing outside of the car. While I went on to fix my vision, he started to get back into the car.
"I'm gonna call her!" Were the last words I heard him shout before he got back inside. As the car began to drive away, the passenger who was just standing outside made a lil dance which was a dead give away. It was definitely Troy.
Then I started wondering to myself. How could it had been Troy if he's still in Mexico? Unless he came back already and was creating the illusion. I decided to give him a call anyway. If he knew, he knew. He didn't pick up.
As I continued to sit by the window, feeling a little disappointed, I got a phone call. It was Troy!! He finally called me back. At this point it had been 10 weeks of no contact.
We chopped it up. It felt really good to hear his voice. I missed it sooo much. He confessed he got back from Mexico about a week ago, but was getting on a flight and moving to Georgia. His flight was leaving at 2pm. A veil of sadness flung over me.
His reason for calling me restricted was because he met up with his boy who knew about me, his boy being a menace, got him into giving me a call. Let's be honest here tho, his friend only got to call because deep inside his heart, he wanted to as well.
I asked to see him really fast before he left. If there was time. I even called out from work to be able to see him x.x I'm glad I did because he ended up switching his flight to today Friday the 19th to 9am.
Yesterday tho, he rented an apartment near the airport for the night, and we spent it together. Ate snacks, he ordered us food, we watched movies. Though we didn't do very much watching if u catch my drift ;3 cuddled, slept, went for a walk.
Because even if we linked up as if nothing ever happened, I was confused. Why was I here? Why are we here? What is the purpose of this? Was he afraid and needed to feel loved? He knows how I feel about him. Am I really that easy and forgiving?
He kept mentioning "a good in goodbye. And hell in hello" "Don't be sad its over, be happy you experienced it" over and over like a broken record. Why did he keep bringing it up?
I dunno but I was left feeling empty. Back to how I felt with Hector.
I'm still feeling empty and confused.
Troy said he wanted to fly me out there soon. But he's full of broken promises.
