Alex being the one who hit Bethany That Night and it was her who Spencer saw. Spencer just assumed she was the one who did this because at this point it was the only reasonable explanation.

Alex being caught on NAT videos. That’s how they found out about her existence. That’s the reason why Melissa was acting so strange, why she was protecting Spencer from “before it even started” and why Ian and Garrett had to die.

It could have been what Maya knew.

Ian knowing about Alex and thinking it was actually her when he wanted to push Spencer off the Bell Tower.

Alex hiding in that creepy, haunted house and watching the girls.

Alex hiding in Jenna’s garage and getting hurt in the fire. Maybe not her face but her body so she still could impersonate Spencer.

Alex being the one we saw in the flashback from before Ali went missing that Spencer doesn’t remember.

Alex stealing the game from Mona because at this point she not only hated Spencer but all of them.

Mona asking Spencer to join A Team not only because Spencer was so smart. Mona noticed there were times when Spencer acted shady. She just didn’t know it was her twin.

Alex switching places with Spencer from the beginning.

Alex making Toby join the A Team and fake his death so she could mess up with Spencer’s head and send her to Radley.

All the British words or references during the show.

How A knew so many things about the girls and nobody never saw them.

Alex being Black Veil and that’s the reason why she needed to hide her face.

Alex dressing up as the masked man in the dollhouse and that’s why Spencer had a feeling she actually knew that person.

Seriously, the list could go on.

It’s all there. They could have used all of this and made it look like it was all planned even if it wasn’t. I’m not saying it would have tied up all the loose ends but it would make much more sense.

So many possibilities. Such a wasted potential.

How PLL should've ended

Spencer finds herself locked up in a high tech prison underground and finds that a bloodied Ezra is locked up also, in a separate cell. He starts to tell her that he has to get out and hurry up to get to Aria He pretends to struggle at first but then, he pushes his cell door open with ease. Spencer is equally horrified and baffled.

“Spencer, you were always the smart one. You found out it was me, and you were about to tell Aria. But I can’t let you do that.”

He reveals that he is the real A.D. Assuming a different alias with Aria (unknowingly) being his accomplice. He is obsessed with toying with/torturing young girls - especially Ali. He discovered Aria’s multiple personality disorder early on and decided to use it to get in the girls’ inner circle. He reveals that he has poisoned Aria so that she would be barren. He intends to take the Emison girls as his and Aria’s own, and he is the sperm donor.

As Ezra is speaking, he looks back and finds Spencer’s cell is empty. She lunges a knife from the underground bunker into his back and we see his body fall.

“Deux peuvent garder un secret si l'un d'entre eux est mort… Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead.”

The last scene is the group of girls at an outdoor funeral for Ezra. After the other girls have left, Aria (now a “widow” in black) is crying with both sadness and anger. She hears rustling by a nearby tree. When she looks over, Ezra in a black hoodie puts his finger to his face as if to say “shhhh”. Aria returns this sign, except directly to the camera. Fade to black.

I think the problem is not who AD is. I personally wanted Twincer to happen because it was a great possibility for the writers to tie up all the loose ends. Also, Troian’s performance was great, Alex as a character wasn’t bad either and I liked how it was Wren who found her somewhere in England. But the problem is the execution of it. It’s not even about them figuring it out in three seconds. It’s about how the writers made us believe that AD was some kind of Uber A, the mastermind behind all of this, someone who was supposed to be there from the beginning, always lurking in the shadows, always watching, always manipulating. Alex’s storyline would have been great if she had been involved in all of this from before The Night, if she had really known the girls and had a better motive. And they could have done this, there were enough plot holes and moments when Spencer seemed off, it was all possible. And I think that was what we all truly wanted, before anything else? For A to make sense. To be that epic villain who had a really good reason for tormenting the girls and who was there from the start. And not for the last two seasons.

I usually try not to bash Marlene. Yes, I make fun of the lies she tells about the show, all the plot holes, etc. but I never wanted to be too rough and too personal.

But this, Ladies and Gentlemen is I. Marlene King in 2014 talking about crazy fan theories, basically saying that she STOLE the idea of A being Spencer’s Twin from a FAN THEORY.
