PRINCESS ARRIVAL

∗༝*◦✦ it's neige's first time meeting you yet he hopes you would already see him more than just a stranger or an acquaintances.

BEFORE READING, this contains light cursing, slight yandere behavior and all that goes with it.

Neige LeBlanche, you quite dislike him.

On your first arrival to Twisted Wonderland, you knew nothing about him until you went out with some of the Night Raven College and saw it: his face on keychains, stickers on people's tumblers, and his name embroidered on tote bags.

Cater was the first to actually introduce him to you, and he did so by showing you a video that was blocked by an advertisement that featured Neige LeBlanche.

Vil was the second when he spoke of Neige during practice, and Rook described him as someone who has rose-red lips, glossy ebony hair, and an endearing smile that could charm anyone (his words, not yours).

You didn't dislike him because he did anything wrong; you were just biased because it saddened you to know that Vil sees himself as less than who he actually is.

Grim looked at you with a face expressing betrayal after the headmaster informed him that he had to stay in class while you had to fetch example materials from the bookstores near the island—you just couldn't say no.

At the moment, you were looking around, trying to recognize the place you were in and connecting it with the map in your hands; you didn't want to get lost in the unfamiliar world or, worse, taken.

You took many mental notes of your surroundings. You can see a black-haired student walking in front of you, holding hands with what you assumed was a dwarf, and there were many red-roofed stalls.

Your eyes narrowed as you tried to make out what they were selling before you heard someone loudly yelling, "Hey! Watch it!"

Now that made you even more cautious than you were since the sound was too close and it seemed like it was directed at you when it was truly for the student and the dwarf in front of you.

It was fast; you saw the student falling back towards you, and you automatically moved your map to be held by the fingers of your dominant hand before extending your hands forward.

Oh, and that you caught him.

The problem was that you didn't catch him like how the main character gets caught by the love interest; it wasn't the arm around the shoulders—no—you caught him by hooking your arms below his.

You nearly staggered, not taking the weight of the student into account as you did with the entire scenario. Your eyes caught the red text on his sailor hat that was askew and embroidered on it: "Someday My Princess Will Come", and then you noticed him staring at you.

You suddenly thought of Rook's words about how Neige LeBlache had rose-red lips and black hair as ebony; you had no idea why you looked at his parted lips like he was surprised, but it was in your line of sight.

"Neige! Are you okay?" the short gray-haired dwarf asked as you pulled up the student to his feet. "Oh…! Thank you so much!"

"It was just my impulse…" you smiled, albeit nervously. "More importantly, is your friend okay?"

The ebony-haired student hasn't moved ever since he landed in your arms earlier; you can only see his back, and not even his shoulders looked like they were moving, like he wasn't breathing.

"Neige!" the dwarf called a bit loudly.

This time, you heard the name of the person you caught loud and clear: Neige, like the actual Neige LeBlanche, the artist Neige LeBlanche.

So that's why you suddenly remembered Rook, because his description of Neige LeBlanche was accurate, and that made you try to gaslight yourself, though it was obviously futile.

"I…" your voice broke, so you had to quietly clear your throat first. "I'm really sorry if I spooked your friend in any way, but I can't stay much longer since I have errands to run for our headmage."

The dwarf looked at you, giving you a polite smile before saying, "That's alright, thank you for—"

"Or we could assist you!" Neige suddenly spoke, surprising both you and the dwarf, and it seemed like he just recently started breathing again. "Ah! I didn't mean to frighten you…!"

"No, no, it's not like that! I just got surprised," you tried to reassure him immediately since it was part of your personality. "But… are you two not busy as well? I'm assuming you two are from the Royal Sword Academy."

"Are you perhaps from Night Raven College?" the dwarf asked, to which you nodded with a small smile. "What a coincidence! You see, we are on our way to buy supplies for our props, so if you're on your way to the same place, perhaps we could travel together?"

"I mean..." you uttered as you looked down, hesitant.

You took note of how the dwarf didn't seem to hold any resentment towards you, even though you're from the other side of the island, not to mention that Royal Sword Academy was a school that your school considers their rival.

"I believe we could at least introduce ourselves; I'm Dominic," the dwarf said, placing a hand on his chest and bowing towards you as a greeting. "I'm a second-year student at Royal Sword Academy."

"I see... I'm [name]," you said, and you contemplated extending your hand, but you were already doing it before you knew it. "I'm from NRC... and... I'm a third year."

"Neige, Neige LeBlanche! I'm a third-year too!"

He immediately grabbed your hand before Dominic could, but no one could say a thing since he was smiling brightly and gleaming, and you felt yourself being drawn in for a bit—he was almost similar to Kalim.

However, you tensed a bit when Neige placed his other hand on the back of yours, sandwiching your hand as he shook it, but to be polite, you gave him an eye-closed smile and a nod, expecting him to let go in a bit.

"Neige..." Dominic looked at him, making Neige look at Dominic too, and the dwarf gestured towards his hands that were sandwiching yours.

"Ahh! I'm sorry!" Neige released his hold immediately, placing his hands behind him to try and ease your discomfort. "I zoned out, I'm sorry!"

"No... it's fine," you responded hesitantly as you looked down at your hand. "Uhm, please do lead the way, I'm still... new in this place."

"Of course!" Dominic said, trying to ease your discomfort too. "Let's look for supplies in the bookstore!"

Neige was so nice that you just continued being wary of him since you weren't used to seeing someone that nice in Twisted Wonderland unless you were facing Kalim or Ortho.

It wasn't just his kindness and soft-spoken voice that made you feel that way; it was also because he seemed to be staring at you awfully much.

You had the supplies Crowley wanted at hand, but you find yourself wishing you could buy some supplies you've been eyeing, but alas, using the headmage money can cause drawbacks.

Maybe you should've accepted Neige's offer when he said he'd pay for what you bought, but that seems like you're taking advantage of his naivety.

Dominic was still in line, three people away from the cashier, so you engrossed yourself at the shelves where the books are, skimming through the titles and summaries.

"Do you like that book, [name]-san?"

His voice just popped out of nowhere, and you tensed a bit before relaxing yourself with your finger on top of the book as you looked back at Neige, who smiled at you innocently.

Perhaps you've grown to have a soft spot for Neige, but only a little bit—just a tiny little bit—because he was so nice to you despite only meeting you today and he was so attentive towards you; it felt overwhelming, but you weren't voicing your concerns, so you assume it was partly your fault.

"How many times are you going to ask that?" you chuckled as you pulled out the book from the shelf and looked at the cover. "Well... it has an interesting cover and title, but I'm just browsing."

You flipped the book to look at the summary on the back, your eyes scanning over it—oh, it has one of those famous troupes back in your world.

It's to be expected that there are transmigration books with long titles that have an obsessive love interest and a second lead that's chasing after the main character, who ends up with the so-called unexpected love interest.

The familiar plot is making you look back at the similar books you've read before, so you looked at the price to see if it was affordable, and to your not-really-shock, it was not.

"Didn't you want that?" he asked after seeing you return the book to the shelf after reading the summary.

"It has an interesting title and all..." you trailed off a little since you were overthinking the placement of the book a little, not sure if you got it there or the book beside it. "It has an interesting troupe that I'm familiar with, but I don't recommend it to you."

To him, who was looking at you with an innocent beam, one who can take all the words you say despite their harshness and might even see them in a positive light.

Now that you think about it, some obsessive people in what you read started off like that too; they were easily manipulated—you suddenly broke off your trail of thought because you're questioning yourself about why you were thinking about Neige in that way.

"Why not?" he asks, looking both curious and a bit surprised. "It can't be bad since you seem to be familiar with it, what is the book about?"

"It's something about—" you try to find a better word to hide the meaning of the book, so you grab the book to read it again while your mind works to paraphrase it. "The love interest likes the main character a bit more than usual."

"There are... boundaries to being interested in someone?" Neige asks, as you want to start sobbing in your mind because his tone sounded like he was completely oblivious to what you were talking about.

"I suppose it depends on morality," you said, steadying your voice as you returned the book, thinking of creating an example in which he recognizes it, but you don't want to trigger anything about him since you know nothing about him. "Let's say... someone likes someone too much to the point they cause pain to them and also to other people."

"In terms of... being too much..." Neige says, the side of his index finger near his lips, and you nodded a little to encourage him to continue, though you were digging yourself a grace in your mind. "In your own words... what is too much?"

You were taken aback. He was so innocent about the topic, and he could've asked for different things, such as why you thought the summary was interesting or why you were familiar with such a topic.

What answer should you even give to that personal question? It was opinionated, but you don't know what to say since you can't form coherent words at that moment.

"Is there anywhere you have to stop by, [name]-san?"

Dominic was back. You and Neige both looked at him, but you'll formulate an answer in your mind later because that question isn't really your priority anymore.

Your focus was on Dominic's question because it reminded you that yes, you do have something to do, and you had to buy ingredients for Vil's smoothie since his supply ran out and the cafeteria was a no for him.

"I do," you nodded a little, not noticing the way Neige lit up at your response. "What I need is near Night Raven College so I can manage on my own since your school is on the opposite... side of where I'm going."

"That..." Neige spoke first, the light in him dimming, but he remained smiling as you gave him an apologetic smile. "That's a shame."

"But it was nice to have you around," the dwarf said, to which you blinked surprised, causing him to laugh. "We hope to see you during the competition."

"And I wanted to get to know you a bit more," the other said, making you turn to him just to see him taking out his phone, and it's obvious what's going to happen next. "Could we share contacts, [name]-san?"

You hesitated because, as you think right now, you can't imagine what you were going to talk about with Neige—the Neige LeBlanche at that.

"I don't have a personal one..." you responded, growing a bit nervous.

The two blinked fast at your response, trying not to be too rude about their surprised reactions because even they have one despite their poor background.

Neige clearly remembers your words about how you weren't even from the island you're on, and he remembers how you said you were running errands for Night Raven College's headmage, who sent you out without a phone.

"That was delivered poorly..." you said after a few seconds of silence, fumbling to get out the phone the headmage lent. "The headmage lent me one, but it's not mine, so I'm not sure if I can..."

"Ah, that could work," Neige smiled, albeit calmly, as he extended his hand towards you. "May I?"

Nodding, you clicked on the contacts and handed it to him, watching as he tapped your number on his phone instead of the other way around.

"I'm surprised you don't have your own phone..."

"Ah, well..."

"I don't mean anything bad by it... What's more surprising is that it's lent by the headmage himself."

"Shit," you thought; perhaps you shouldn't have let that information slip. "It was for emergency purposes."

Neige hands you the phone back and smiles, "I'll see you again soon, [name]-san."

"Stay safe!"

"Oh! You too!"

A frown spread on your face as you paused the music under Vil's command, looking down on the first years that tried to catch their breath from practicing too much while the second years were used to exerting that much energy.

You grabbed the towels and their respective water bottles before handing them to the dancers; to your amusement, the first years chugged it down as VIl sighed.

"Did you see that?" Vil asked, gesturing to the first years as Rook praised them despite their movements not being up to the model's standards. "Manager."

"If balance is the problem, not to assume because of their structure, but won't heels be a good training method?" you asked, looking up to the model as you tried to block out Rook's words. "The first year's posture and flow are—"

— r i n g !

Horror plastered on your face immediately as you looked away from Vil and down to the headmage's phone in your pocket, which you grabbed immediately.

After your encounter with the students from the Royal Sword Academy and knowing that Neige took your number, you've been anxiously waiting for the call, not wanting to miss it because you didn't want to be the one to call back and start a conversation.

"Take it outside, manager," Vil said, to which you nodded and scurried away immediately, making the Ace and Deuce raise a brow. "What's with that reaction?"

"Ah, well—we thought we were the only contacts the prefect had," Deuce said.

"In reference to the break before the whole competition thing, I was sure we were," Ace agreed, nodding his head as he stood up. "You know what this means, Juice?"

"We don't have time for gossip," Vil cuts in before anything else, making the first years tense up as the model held up a heel. "Wear these."

Ace stared jaw-dropped as Deuce started sweating nervously at the thought of wearing one, and Epel couldn't tell whether to deadpan or laugh at the reaction of the two because Epel was already used to it.

You answered the phone on your way out of the ballroom, just in time to see Riddle walking in with the papers in hand, his heels clicking.

"Good afternoon, prefect," the prefect greeted, his posture perfect compared to your trembling hands that couldn't even put the call on hold. "Am I allowed to enter?"

"Of course, Vil-san and the rest are inside; just don't forget to knock," you said before looking at the phone and placing it near your ear, which made Riddle get the idea that you can't talk for long. "I think you're the exact person they need to see, Riddle-san."

Your words made the Heartslabyul prefect chuckle a little before commenting, "Your mind works wonders."

— c l i c k !

You swear that right after you were talking, the phone fell before another person from Neige's line suddenly talked about cosmetics and also before the call suddenly got cut short.

The ebony-haired student picked up the fallen phone, a red hue covering his pale cheeks, almost matching the color of his lips, before he wiped the screen of his phone.

He sees that the call has already ended, making him softly frown before he notices the notification that pops up suddenly; it was from you, asking if he was okay.

Of course he was okay! He felt more than okay, because not only did he get to call you, he also learned a bit about you, and he got to hear you laugh—and it was all in one day.

The makeup artist stared in horror, fussing over the phone that fell earlier as Neige only lightly trembled in excitement, his lips quivering as he stared at your contact that didn't have a photo or a name that fit the way he sees you.

The happiness he felt could rival the times he read R's letters or when he saw his supporters. He sighs, feeling disappointed that he heard of it through the phone and that the call also ended quickly.

He's fuming, but he had to calm down.

In your eyes, Neige was a stranger, yet you were so nice to him when you two first met, reassuring him many times that he wasn't at fault whenever he made you nervous.

Riddle did interrupt you two early on during the call, but you remained polite, even greeting the dorm leader before you made time for Neige himself.

The point was that you were nice to strangers, and there's no doubt that you'd remain nice to the makeup artist who disturbed your conversation with him, right?

"Alright, let me type something, and then we can continue with the finishing touches," Neige smiled sweetly, looking back down on his phone. "Oh, and could you get something for me in the bookstore and at the mall?"

"O-Of—"

"On second thought, I can do it," Neige cuts off immediately as he happily types. "It would have much more sentimental value that way, right? What phone model is the latest one today?"

Neige blinked at the crying emoji, wondering what he did wrong or if it was serious; he hasn't interacted with people as much on social media, so what you send confuses him.

Did he make you cry already? Was there something wrong with what he sent you?

Nevertheless, you wished him success, and his heart warmed at that. It was probably how you normally text people, yet he yearned to make you see how he stands out in your view of people.

"I can't wait..." Neige smiles as he turns off his phone before turning towards the makeup artist. "For now, I'll work hard until you see me as someone more than someone you just met."

THIS IS HEIZNX, this was an idea i wrote in my notebook, i stressed over the colors sm. there's supposed to be more, like the scene with deuce and epel on the beach (?) part near RSA, and yuu called for neige's help since he's famous. the relationship progressed and all, but mc suddenly stopped replying to neige, because of the book 6 events. i'm imagining vil having an interview with neige and vil brought mc along so they could apologize to neige. they were able to, but neige starts voicing his self-loathing and how he felt sad and all that, and yuu was guilt tripped to being in a romantic relationship with him.

Re: the Magicam thing- If I remember right, Cater says Idia bought him Magicam stickers of an anime for his birthday, so I think it might be a combination of Instagram and LINE…?

Hello hello! I think you are very right! ^^

There was a curious translation choice where Cater is saying "Idia gifted me a Magicam sticker" on EN, as though Idia purchased him just a single sticker when they are typically sold in sets!

But Magicam is different from LINE, so maybe it is possible to buy individual stamps for Magicam on EN? :>

(The Japanese language doesn't really use plurals most of the time, so Cater's original line of 「あのイデアくんが、マジカメ用スタンプをプレゼントしてくれた！」 could technically mean a set of stamps or a single stamp, but it would typically be assumed that he means a set and not just one, as you say!)

Twisted Wonderland seems to have six sets available at the moment!

Twisted Wonderland's 3rd Anniversary Campaign has begun! With this event, the players are receiving a brand new SR Ceremonial Robes Grim card!

We'll be getting the following new functions:

Part 1 (Beginning 10 Mar):

Card Limit Break Bonus - As you limit break the cards, you'll gain additional bonuses.

First Limit Break (SSR only): Unlock furniture recipe for a Photo of the card. There are two: Pre- and Post-Groovy. (Min Room Rank of 8 required; Card must be groovified for Post-Groovy Photo) Card Character can interact with the Post-Groovy Photo.

Second Limit Break: Spare Key. Use this to keep a specific card character in your guest room. (Min Room Rank of 12 required; Cannot invite different outfits of the same character)

Third Limit Break (SSR only): Unlock Magic 3. Select two of the three magic options to use in battles.

Fourth Limit Break: HP/ATK Increase, Obtain a new title, and (SSR Only) Card Icon Frame change

Special Lessons / Skip Class - Special Lessons will give more Card Level EXP than usual and can be done 10 times a day. All Other Lessons (History/Flight/Alchemy) will have a Skip Function available and can be skipped 10 times a day.

Guarantee of Rate Up Character on 200th Summon - 200th Summon (2nd Pity) will guarantee the Showcase Rate Up card. In the case of the Permanent Showcase, or a Birthday Showcase (no Rate Up, or only one SSR), the guarantee is still at the 100th Summon. In the case of multiple Rate Ups in one Showcase, the 200th Guaranteed summon will be a random card out of the group of Rate Ups.

Other Changes

The shop layout will change to accommodate descriptions for cards and furniture.

Theme Stickers will be available in the Room Medal Shop.

The wall decoration layout will change to allow wall decorations to be higher or lower.

On the card status screen, the max stats (MLB and Max Friendship) and max magic stats can be seen.

Part 2 (Beginning 16 Mar):

Visiting friends' guest rooms - Visit a friend's guest room and leave a "like." Leaving a "like" will reward you with room medals. "Likes" can be given up to 5 times a day. There will be an option to visit a random guest room.

Change the Guest Room Background Music - BGM can be purchased in the Guest Room BGM Shop. Min Room Rank of 10 required. New BGM may be unlocked as the story is cleared.

Guest Room Character Lines Voiced - The character lines that are spoken during Idle, Invites, etc., will now be voiced.

Other Changes

An increase in drop rates of SSR crystals in the Collect Battles.

Some Collect Battles' difficulties will be adjusted.

The combination of possible reward drops from Collect Battles will be adjusted.

Part 3 (Beginning 18 Mar):

New Cumulative Missions - Missions regarding cards/lessons/exams will be added to the Missions tab.

Added Titles - A new title will be available when 10 cards of a character has been collected.

Grim Card Requirements

Grim is a temporary card and will disappear if you don’t complete some requirements:

Collect 500 Tuna Cans [2023]

Read 「3rd Anniversary」 Event Story Episode 2

The Tuna Can [2023] is an event drop and you can get 1, 2 or 5 randomly by completing lessons (History, Flying or Alchemy). You can see how many you have on the bottom of the Event Page. Left is how many you have right now (so if you spent some, the number is lower), right is how many you have collected until now (this is what you need to make Grim permanent).

To quickly go to Grim’s lessons from the event page, click on the Lesson button on the Main Event page or go all the way to the right on the Lesson Page, right after Diasomnia.

When you click on Grim’s card to level him up, you’ll get a message reminding you that he isn’t permanent yet, so items and madol spent on him will also disappear if you don’t make him permanent in time. Just click the black button to proceed.

One of the missions is to level up one of Grim’s magic to Lv.5 and we suggest you start with his M1 if only to complete the missions faster, because you use Tuna Cans to level up magic and the amount needed for each magic is different. (To level up magic, just click on the 4th tab: 魔法Lv)

Stamp Card Info

On the bottom left of the Event Page you’ll see a Stamp Icon, click there and complete some missions for rewards.

The event ends on the 24th, but the First Stamp Card only goes until the 16th 14:59 (JST), so pay attention to the time limit.

The Second Stamp Card goes until the 24th 14:59 (JST)

Extra Robe Grim copies will be available in the shop after you collect 500 Tuna Cans and make him permanent.

Anniversary Medals are obtained by pulling/rolling on the Anniversary Showcase. You get 1 medal per roll (10-roll = 10 medals), so you’ll need to roll 100 times to grab that beautiful Anniversary Magical Key and 150 rolls to get the Limited Rerun SSR Magical Key and choose any of the already released Birthday Boy SSRs, Union Birthday SSRs, and Event Rerun SSRs.

ツイステ Twisted Wonderland 3RD ANNIVERSARY - New Game Features SSRs

Second overdue post, my bad _(:3」z)_

New “Uncap Level” Logic

Before this 3rd Anniversary update, uncap level (with duplicate cards or Perfumes) was only used to unlock the max level of the Card, but now we have special bonus that come with each Awakening.

For R and SR cards, as you can see on above screenshots, the changes are only the Player Title and the GuestRoom Key, but for SSRs we have new features at each Awakening :

1st Awakening (1 duplicate or Perfumes unlock) : gain +5 max level, unlocks GuestRoom CGs Crafting (1 R poster for the card CG & 1 SR poster for the Groooovy CG),

2nd Awakening : reach +10 max level, added to the list of Cards you can give a GuestRoom Key to,

3rd Awakening : reach +15 max level, unlocks the 3rd Magic Spell,

4th final Awakening : reach +20 max level, Cards stats boost, the Card frame becomes black&gold, you get the relevant Player Title to add to your profile,

Friendship Level Bonus : for the reminder, your Friendship Level (thanks to inviting the Card to your GuestRoom and giving the character stickers / forgotten items) can give you max +10 max level but it will NOT count as Awakening = so your SSR card can be level 100 and only be 2nd Awakening, meaning no 3rd Magic Spell.

GuestRoom CGs Crafting

For SSRs only, unlocks at 1st Awakening,

Requires regular Crafting Materials (Paper is the common one) with Dorm Gems,

Hang it on the walls, takes 2 spaces,

Grants you the Theme points and Dorm points of the Character,

Has some special voice line and pose motion when the corresponding SSR character comes under it.

3rd Magic Spell

For SSRs only, unlocks at 3rd Awakening,

Needs to be level-up with Magic Books, same as other Spells, and you can only start leveling it up after you unlocked it,

Has a CG animation with voice line upon attack,

You select which Magic Spells to use when you prepare your Team for Battle (click the little round golden icon below the spells and click the 2 spells you want to use to highlight them).

Being in a Light Music Club was everything Cater could dream of. Having fun time with his friends, doing music when melodies just popped in his mind randomly and somehow arranging into pleasant songs to hear was his greatest joy and outlet. Life is great as it is, but it’s way cooler when you can wash your dishes listening to a masterpiece that just happened to come into the mind and then BAM! and you can be a blockbuster character smashing bad guys and accidentally saving the world (Cater is a little bit sorry for the dishes he broke, maybe not so accidentally he thought he would).

Cater could imagine himself an idol, painting roses red in the graceful yet powerful little dances he did, musical notes lined up in his head, as if playfully running down the stairs, hurrying somewhere and laughing.

He considered joining Vil’s club just for starring himself in a shoujo drama when he felt how melancholy hit him just right so he isn’t really sad, but a modest glimpse of ennui invaded his mind.

Life is beautiful when it has the magic of music within. Instrumentals he did were both enchanting and light at the same time, as if emphasizing on Cater’s personality.

Cater was pinning up his hair with a bobby pin Lilia gave him as a gift of sorts, looking absolutely concentrated on something, his hand holding a pen, copybook pages wrinkled here and there, peculiar stickers on the margins. He was mumbling something to himself with his headphones on when Riddle approached him.

“Cater-senpai, it’s your time to paint— Ah, you’re doing it again.”

The presence of Ace and Deuce behind the dorm leader’s back remained completely unnoticed by Cater, who was immersed in writing as if he was possessed. Unidentified symbols, signs and translation filled pages up, some of them were messy as hell, some arranged in a neat way.

Cater bit his lip, carefully listening to the sad melody that almost made him cry, but he felt that this was not the time and place for this.

“What’s with Cater-senpai?..” Deuce said subtly.

“Yeah, I never saw him in that state before.”

“It’s understandable since you’re the first-years,” Riddle let out a sigh, taking a peek on Cater’s notes. “First of all, it’s only you two who don’t make any effort in studying…”

“But Cater-senpai isn’t studying anything related to NRC either!”

“Yes, that is the problem… He’s still much more devoted than you two,” Riddle sighed once again. “In any case, Cater has been writing something for a whole time I know him.”

Cater, who didn’t pay any attention to a cute little troublemakers aka ADeuce duo and his own dorm leader, suddenly giggled and turned to them.

“Guys, I’m right here, just tag me and I’ll answer asap,” he closed his copybook, standing up from the chair. “I guess you’re interested?”

“We are,” Deuce confirmed.

“Welp, don’t you guys know I’m a musician?” ADeuce duo replied with incoherent mumbles, while Cater just giggled once again and Riddle decided to give up on them all. “Aight, that’s it for now, throw your likes at my newest reels on MagiCam and I’ll tell you the rest~ Okie, off to painting roses now, bye-bye!”

“Somehow he’s easy to understand and somehow he’s not at the same freaking time,” Ace let out a little ‘tch’ sound when Riddle warned him about his wording.

“I know you won’t be over until he tells you something, so in order to prevent your antics, I’ll give you a hint. These notes are related to his soulmate.”

“Cater-senpai has a soulmate?!”

“Now, off to your studies!!”

Cater didn’t hide that he had a soulmate. Why would he when their bond was so beautiful and charming? He loved music, his soulmate was connected to music too. The simplest formula to learn by heart, interesting to analyze and just right to mess with.

Cater-senpai, have you figured out who your soulmate is?

Cater, you do realize no one in Twisted Wonderland can speak this language? You can’t speak something all alone and claim it as a language at this point.

It was difficult sometimes. He heard Deucey managed to find his soulmate in a very cringey way which quickly became a hot-topic on MagiCam. Speaking about MagiCam, Vil was always mentioning how his soulmate’s fashion sense improved thanks to him. Was it Leona who showed up in an auditorium with a strong floral scent around him? Even his fellow Lilia somehow didn’t lose his mediator this time!

Cater smiled to himself, brushing off his open jealousy. He had a soulmate, everything was fine.

It just happened so they were not from Twisted Wonderland. Or maybe they existed long ago and he was attached to a ghost. Or maybe both.

He didn’t want to admit he missed them. How would they look when they listened to a fluffy pop song the other day? What kind of expression would they make when his ears were flooded with a dreary ballad? Were they screaming and going a little crazy when they listened to heavy metal? It would be so cool to introduce them to his friends, make music together…

Life is beautiful when it has the magic of music within. Cater put on his headphones, volume is just enough to hear Riddle in case he shows up to check if the roses are painted in a deep-red color or did he accidentally choose a lighter one. He was in the mood for something melancholic, maybe relaxing. His sunny side covered behind a dark ephemeral veil.

He pressed a button on his sad songs playlist, making it shuffle, so he wouldn’t know which one starts playing right now. He memorized all the lyrics with more devotion he would actually admit even to himself, a vulnerable part of him showing so seldom to others they didn’t even know it existed.

First ten seconds played, and he grabbed a brush, dipping it in a jar of scarlet paint, and faintly inhaled the enamel alcohol smell. Smooth relaxing instrumental with a sweet vocals complimented his mood perfectly, and—

“O-oh!..” he suddenly jumped out of surprise, almost dropping the brush he was holding, a few scarlet stains appearing on his uniform. “Jeez, wrong timing…”

EDM song popped in his head, unknown language invaded his mind once again, unfamiliar instrumental causing him to listen to carefully.

Look, he wasn’t in the mood for an experimental song with unique beats and contemporary R&B hints! He wanted to indulge in melancholy and mourn at least a little! He wished his soulmate could figure it out from listening to what he was planning to listen to. But why in the world did the song happen to be so addictive?..

His soulmate was his guardian angel and worst nightmare at the same time. He couldn’t even understand if he was either sad or hyped up right now, but the song caused him to do a thing that started as a little dance and ended up being a whole damn performance.

Words in unknown language slipped his lips, making many first-years who were in the garden at the time turned their heads to Cater singing his heart out, almost guessing which line would come up next.

The song was playing on repeat, and Cater left his sadness long forgotten, all roses were perfectly painted with the exact color scheme Riddle wanted to see, and in the end he just fell on the grass, staining his uniform and making it messy, but he didn’t care.

“ Can I be your boyfriend, can I?.. ” Cater sang along with the singers. “I wonder if it means what I think it does.”

Whether his soulmate really liked this song and wanted Cater to become an addict too or was they just hyping him up — he didn’t know.

But was grateful anyway.

It was next year when the headmaster suddenly announced a small concert which of course should be well prepared by the Light Music Club.

Something to celebrate that Riddle has overcome his overblot and nobody got hurt, just a little party with cool music for everyone to have fun and— oh please, the members didn’t even dwelled on details since every party should include only three things: fun, them and some spiciness to end the day to make it even more fun!

“Yo, guys, let’s gather some ideas!” Cater suggested, mindlessly plucking guitar strings and smiling at Kalim and Lilia who were just as enthusiastic as he himself.

“How about we do covers of the latest popular releases?” Kalim answered. “You know, ‘Piece of my world’ as an opening would do!”

“Hoho, true!” Lilia glanced slyly at Cater’s copybook he always carried around. “And how about we produce our own song?”

“Oooh! Such a great idea, Lilia!!” Kalim seemed to be on cloud nine, while Cater certainly did catch a hint Lilia gave to him. “What’s your thoughts, Cater?”

“Actually… Yeah, why not!” he opened his copybook, Kalim and Lilia immediately got closer. “How about we practice singing in an unknown language my soulmate speaks?”

Kalim and Lilia, experimental they are, agreed and dwelled on learning how the pronunciation system worked and the way words formed into sentences… Everything was great, Kalim and Lilia throwing conspiratorial glances at each other which remained unnoticed by Cater while he was explaining, his eyes shining with a joyful gleam, proud smile on his face.

Yuuka did her best trying to guess what kind of language was occupying her head since she got her first mp3 player.

Her parents were questioning her whether she was alright with staying in her room for a whole day, doing her research about ancient languages. Her sudden passion awakening was very welcomed by them, but it was quite concerning at the same time.

“Who do you want to be when you grow older?”

A steady answer, no hesitating in her voice and pride in the eyes of teachers and her parents.

“A philologist.”

She could grasp languages quite easily, as if she seized a natural talent and congenital predisposition to understand any language she piqued her interest in. But it was never enough.

What the hell was ‘L̶̩͛̒̑ê̷͍̰̮ṱ̸̋͝’̶̝̲͓̂s̶̳̍͜ͅ ̵̡̐͑��g̷̪̽̔ö̵͎̤̊̐ ̶̹̗̀́͐t̸̻͗o̸͓̟̓̉ ̷͎̔̆W̴̙̑o̶̱̪̬̓n̴̩̘̈́d̵̡̳̓̌͒e̴̥̙͆̉r̶͉̔l̷̘͍̎̿̕ä̶̯͉́͗n̶̛̞̙̿̐d̸̢̮̯͌̚!̷̯͚̋͒͆͜’ ?

She studied Japanese, it was a bit similar, but she just felt symbols were different, pronunciation differed from Japanese she knew, there were no hints of Chinese or whatsoever, so what the hell was it? Some kind of old dialect which sunk into oblivion and was lost on the pages of ancient history?

The times she wasn’t so immersed in studying and making her own dictionary she just enjoyed her soulmate’s music taste. A great variety of genres, from EDM to classical masterpieces embraced her, sometimes empathizing her mood one day and causing her to turn her current feelings upside down from sad ones to all giddy and sweet another.

It was a gloomy rainy day when her favorite idols dropped their new album. A cheerful song with nice encouraging lyrics made her feel so much better she decided to put it on repeat, but oh well, her soulmate had other plans.

She knew she couldn’t listen to it while her kindred spirit was apparently feeling down, but still…

They were nice. She wanted to believe a person with such a rich music taste can’t be bad. It was naive, childish and not so smart of her, but there was a little glimpse of genuine hope her soulmate was mentally alright. The amount of times they listened to sad songs got her almost depressed too, so she thought maybe… just maybe there was a way to cheer them up?

Yuuka swallowed her desire to enjoy the newest release, so that her soulmate could rewind and wait a little longer until they find each other?

She could never forget that day she cried so hard at the lyrics she couldn’t take it more, tears trickled down her cheeks onto the pillow, and she tried to brush them away in vain with her sleeves, shuddering into sobs and hoping that she would soon be able to meet her kindred spirit.

Life is beautiful when it has the magic of music within, after all.

Cater once realized he didn’t hear peculiar language anymore.

Not so long after Riddle’s overblot he realized he missed how it sounded. Cater observed his notes over and over again, giving his soul into creating a perfect song for a concert, so he could at least make it stay in someone else’s memory, language remaining unforgettable.

Were they okay?

He wished for his soulmate’s health, hoping they just broke their phone or just went on a holiday somewhere so there was no internet connection.

He missed them badly, his feelings finding its way to the song he was arranging, sweet lyrics he hoped he guessed right were intertwining with a dashing instrumental, emphasizing on how he felt. It almost sounded like a love confession and it actually was, despite no one could figure it out. And there was no point in this since who actually cared? Cater used this little concert as a way to blurt out what his head was occupied with while others could just have fun and forget about it right away.

He ran his fingers along the strings, checking the guitar and making a light pleasant sound with it, and responded to the call of Lilia, who called him backstage.

He quickly returned to his position but was a bit startled when he saw Yuuka talking to Kalim.

Oh, what a girl she was. Mysterious, adventurous and sweet, they instantly hit it off, and even though they didn’t have much time to get to know each other better yet, they still tried to meet and buy some coffee while walking across the campus. She was so charming Cater thought he could just ask her out, guided by his curiosity all at once. Well, maybe he could try someday if she wouldn’t be against it.

She must have her soulmate too.

In any case, she spotted Cater entering backstage and promised Kalim to get in touch more often when she ran off to his senior and smiled back. They exchanged high-fives, an inexplicable electrical impulse went through their skin, at which they laughed nervously and made up all sorts of jokes every time, as if they were comic book characters with superpowers to control electricity.

“Yo, Cater. Looking handsome as always!” She complimented him, winking playfully at which he giggled in a response.

“What a cutie you are, Yuuka~ What are you doing here?”

“Don’t tell me I wasn’t invited to your concert!”

“Aha, no, not that. Backstage, I mean.”

“Just wanted to cheer you up! I’m so excited since Kalim told me you made a brand new mind-blowing song. How could I not be so hyped up?”

“Oh, gotta have a little talk with him about spoilers! Anyway, thank you. Are you in the front row?”

“I am! Actually… Have this!” She gave him a cute little cat sticker, and Cater almost thought it was a Grim-looking image of a cat, but then noticed it was white and had a pink ribbon on its ear. “Consider it lucker charm. It’s the last sticker from my world.”

“Eeh? Why would you give me something so precious?”

“In exchange I want you to make me listen to a total bop, a soty no one can ever beat. So, deal?”

“You sound like Azul though,” Yuuka gave him a questioning look, noticeably confused at who Azul was. Ah right, she might have not encountered him yet anywhere beside the opening ceremony. “Alright, just you wait!”

He tucked this cute little sticker in his pocket, making sure Yuuka found her way to the front row and gave her a thumbs-up as the concert began.

The atmosphere at the concert was amazing. Soon everyone was jumping up from their seats, giving in to the rhythm and entangling their partners and friends in an energetic dance. Kalim came up with several games to raise interest, Lilia almost scared the crowd away when he decided to give out free homemade cakes.

“Alright, guys, it’s time!!” Kalim announced when the crowd was all hyped up.

“We decided to surprise you with something absolutely unique!” Lilia added, adjusting his guitar on his shoulders.

“Let me explain, guys!” Cater took a sticker out of his pocket, inadvertently sticking it on the body of the guitar and giving Yuuka a quick, amused look. “I believe almost all of you know I have a soulmate, but now it’s time to spill the beans!”

“Yay, tea!” Yuuka encouraged him, causing the crowd to giggle at her commentary.

“Actually me and my soulmate can hear songs we’re listening to! But the thing is, no one in Twisted Wonderland speaks their language. So we’ve decided to write a song in it, it’s a total bop, hope you’ll like it! Alright, let’s get it!”

Yuuka felt something prick in her heart, and clenched her shirt in her fists involuntarily.

She closed her mouth with her hands when she heard words in a familiar language fall from Cater’s lips. Her heart beat fast in anticipation of the next lines, and the world seemed to cease to exist, shrinking to the size of her, standing right next to the stage, and Cater, who was looking somewhere into the void with such a dreary and dreamy look that she was ready to burst into tears at that very second.

The song was coming to an end when Yuuka lost her composure and began sobbing, while everyone around her was dancing energetically, managing to sing along here and there. Suddenly Cater switched to a gentle whisper, not realizing he was hearing him singing as if everything happened from the perspective of another person.

“E̵̤̎v̵̥̎ḛ̴͗n̷͙͗ ̶̛̠ị̵̀f̴͔̚ ̵͍̊t̸̙͋h̴̘́e̵̝̊ ̴̝̈w̶̦͒ǫ̷͑r̵̯̚ḻ̷́d̶̝̚ ̸̀͜i̶̮͛s̶͎̈́ ̴͓̿e̷͕͛ń̷̦d̷̹͘i̵̛̘n̵̼͠g̸̹̈”, he sung in a dreamily manner.

“I̴ ̸w̶a̶n̸n̴a̶ ̶r̴o̷c̸k̴ ̵w̴i̴t̷h̷ ̷y̴o̷u̵.”

“I wanna stay with you.”

When the song ended, the audience burst into applause. Some whistled at the performers, some shouted in delight, and only Yuuka stood alone in front of the stage, trembling in tears.

“Hope you liked the song!” Cater announced, not noticing he lost his hair tie and his ginger strands disheveled on his face.

Kalim stayed on the stage, suddenly turning into a DJ and giving Lilia and Cater a break during which Cater wanted to find Yuuka and ask her opinion.

He did find her still trembling in shock and went blank himself. Oh Sevens, what did he do wrong? Was his voice so bad it was unbearable? Or—

“H-hey, Yuuka, are you alright?..”

“You just had to arrange such a cheerful sounding song with such heartbreaking lyrics?!”

Cater thought his heart could combust right there. She was the only one crying while everyone was having fun, not even taking at least a little guess on what he actually meant. There was no way he could be wrong. Was there?..

“Wait,” he chuckled nervously. “Wait, wait. What do you mean?..”

“Ah, Cater, just…” she shuddered, swallowing back her tears and smiling a little sadly.

Yuuka sighed, placing a hand on top of his own and stepping a bit closer to him, suddenly noises around them reduced, as if someone turned it off like an old annoying radio.

“I wanna stay with you too. If you’re okay with it.”

Was it her voice, steady and confident, or maybe the way she sounded so crystal clear, her pronunciation neat and pleasant to hear, so Cater just enveloped her in a hug, smiling like an idiot and completely ignoring Lilia whistling alongside with the crowd?

“Suddenly you’re making it so corny like we’re a couple at a football match who just got spotlighted and forced to kiss each other,” she chuckled, welcoming his warm embrace.

“Aha, voicing out loud your desires?” she hit him slightly and burst into laughter at his response. “Ah, I know!”

He guided her on stage, while she cringed at the way he suddenly considered her some sort of a princess, but nevertheless Cater’s eyes were reminiscent of a flickering pink little hearts while he looked at her with pure adoration.

“Can I be your boyfriend, can I?”

Pink dusted her cheeks as she nodded and giggled when he pressed a sweet smooth kiss on the corner of her lips, accompanied by cheers from the crowd.

“Heya, Cater, what did you saaay!~” Kalim asked when Lilia came to him.

“Do you think it is really important? Besides, their actions speak louder than words.”

Yuuka giggled once again, the warm feeling of Cater’s lips still remaining on her skin.

“Actually,” she smirked. “The whole first verse was horrible, you got clauses all wrong, but I could give you bonus points for your pronunciation.”

“Hey!! We were working hard on that part!”

“Sure, sure,” she snuggled closer to him, her legs dangling off the stage randomly, like a child who has just been given a candy that one has wanted to eat after being forced to eat plain porridge. “But at least you have me to help you now!”

Life is definitely beautiful when it has the magic of music within.
