Twitter is a shithole right now. People are going APESHIT over Angel Dust dancing, with sexy lyrics and the like, and his sexual assault being played on the TV screen in the background. They're disregarding people who have been raped and act like Angel Dust in that they're hypersexual.

They're literally sending death threats, gore videos of animals, and even rape threats to people who support Hazbin Hotel.

If survivors don't fit into their view of what a survivor SHOULD look like and behave, it's unnatural. It's not realistic.

I saw this in the Lore Olympus fandom, where Persephone was wanting sex and being horny. Apparently survivors aren't supposed to do that, we're supposed to be repulsed, quiet, and afraid of all intimacy (please know that survivors like that are just as valid and you have my support).

That fucking hurts because I act SO similar to Angel minus the confidence with strangers as a result of MY abuse.

It's so incredibly ironic for them to bitch about how rape is portrayed, in Angel's case, as something he covers by using his hypersexual, loud persona, if they're survivors themselves. I used to have this view because I was immature and didn't know how to cope, so I invalidated.

I sincerely hate people on Twitter at times.

it really feels like every single place on the internet where community can exist is being ripped apart because community doesnt help with capitalism. twitter, tumblr, discord, are all at risk of shutting down or becoming too dangerous to use. insta and facebook are a) already super well known for their incessant tracking and b) tend to be more for keeping in touch with existing friends rather than being somewhere you can exit semi-anonymously and find a community. yeah there are smaller sites but they have barriers such as requiring invites or being so small and spread out or having conflicting moderation rules that mean cross-communication is tricky. online community is so important, especially for those of us who struggle with irl community be it because of location or disability or any other number of factors.

i dont have any solutions to offer, really. this post is atm just lamenting the internet circa 2010. if people have solutions, please share them
