Postcards from Snagglepuss
Now you're diving off Catalina--seriously
WITH THE CATALINA DIVING CLOWDER IN THE WATERS OF ISTHMUS COVE, SANTA CATALINA ISLAND, CA: Leave it to the Catalina Diving Clowder to suggest that yours truly, and my compadre Huckleberry Hound even, go diving with same on the south side of the Isthmus of Catalina Island--otherwise known as Two Harbors. And more specifically, Isthmus Cove.
Which, as the members of the Diving Clowder will tell you almost to a queen, is perhaps their single most favourite diving locale on The Magic Isle. Enchantment somehow reigning most wondrous, with the added attraction of a shipwreck in the bargain, as in the Chinese junk Ningpo, burning as it did to the water line during a 1911 movie shoot. But what makes this particular spot the Diving Clowder's favourite such, at least to hear Jayne explain it, can't exactly be put into words; it needs to be seriously experienced.
Rock reefs, kelp forests, seaweed, playful marine life, such must be in abundance at Catalina's Isthmus ... and just be thankful sharks avoided the area this particular occasion. Even Jabberjaw, if you know whom I speak of.
Somehow, "Bubbles," ever-spritzy leader of the Diving Clowder and its diving expeditions, perhaps had the best explanation in the pre-dive briefing: "The magic they speak of about Catalina also happens to be abroad underwater--and to some, it seems mysterious, almost waiting to be discovered."
"Yet," Huckleberry Hound remarked, "whoever named the Italian Gardens [a rock reef with quite the marine life on the North Side of Catalina between Two Harbors and Avalon] must have had some sort of imagination in the diving arena!"
"Though I should admit," Lola remarked, "that for years, about the only way many could see Catalina's underwater side was by way of glass-bottom boats."
"How right you are, gals," was all Huck could add, remarking on the side that he was probably on a Catalina glass-bottom excursion some years before.
"Still," "Bubbles" added, "you haven't really seen Catalina until you see a bit of its underwater side. And we can relate from experiences."
"Not to mention our videos," Jessamaine chimed in.
And you can't help but be amazed. Seriously. Even Top Cat's clowder, I understand, can't help but fall head over heels for Catalina's underwater side.

Ken and his crew did a top notch job with the lighting at our wedding. They took care of all the set up and tear down, and were very prompt answering all our questions via email. I highly recommend Duluth Event Lighting for all your event lighting needs.
