Firen Lhain: Chapter 307: Evening Star
Blake ran after the Grimm and found it climbing a wall, when she heard a man cry out from pain. She turned to look into the library and her heart fell in her chest. The worst thing she could see was in front of her... it was him... a stone's throw from killing a Human guard. "No..." Blake voiced. "Adam?.."
"Hello, my darling." Adam replied, as if he truly had any affection for her. It was more the tone you would use when a child had run away. All of her history with him flashed before her eyes... his meteoric rise... transcendant glory... and utter destruction of all she held dear... It - was - Adam.
"Running away again?" he said to her, "Is this what you've become... my love..." Despite the sweet words they were dripping with scorn, "A coward?"
* * *
Jaune, Pyrrha, and Ozpin stood on the elevator up to Ozpin's office. This hardly seemed like the time to have a chat. Jaune's left hand was over his shield/scabbard as it was attached to his belt. "Someone want to tell me what's going on here."
"I'm afraid..." Ozpin said, and drank from his coffee cup, "that your dear Ms. Nikos has a choice to make... and unfortunately me must all pay the price for this choice." He once again sipped his coffee.
"Could you?.." Jaune asked.
"Do you think I enjoy doing this, Mr. Arc?" Ozpin asked, "If I could do this under better circumstances, I would... be these are the ones we find ourselves in. The world it seems conspires to rob us of choice."
"Someone want to tell me what's going on here?.." Jaune asked.
"I'm sorry..." Pyrrha bashfully said.
"There is a great deal - going on." Ozpin said to him, "But not enough time to cover even a hair's breadth of it..." He sipped his coffee once again, "The short version of it, indeed, if such a thing even exists, is that I am far more than simply a head master, and Ms. Nikos is far more special than you could possibly know." He sipped his coffee again, "I am also fond of... choice..." he voiced. "It is the most important thing in the world."
"Even in times like these?" Jaune asked.
"It seems these are the only ones we have."
The elevator reached it's apex and the doors opened. Ozpin quickly walked through his office, placing his cup his desk... and this seem to trigger something. His desk moved forward, revealing a stairway. He then looked at Jaune and Pyrrha, "If you two could accompany me?"
* * *
They found themselves on another elevator, this one going down. Deep, down, into the earth. The further the distance they descended, the more nervous Jaune become. At first he just held his hand on his scabbard, but then started to dance to and fro. His stance lowered, his brow furled, his breathing reaching an apex. "Your perceptions, Mr. Arc, are far sharper than most would give you credit for."
Jaune quickly looked at him, sharply, still breathing heavily.
"Mine are far shaper than most give me credit for, as well." Ozpin stated as Jaune looked away, "Mr. Arc." he said, and Jaune quickly, sharply looked back at him. Ozpin was strangely smiling back at him.
"You know?.." Pyrrha quietly asked.
"I know a great many things." Ozpin stated. "For one, Mr. Arc has clearly not attended a combat school. This was something we knew far before you reached this academy."
"Why?.." Pyrrha quietly asked.
"His life was his to throw away." Ozpin stated, and Jaune once again looked sharply at him. "Mr. Arc, Ms. Nikos, would it surprise you to learn that Beacon is never at capacity?"
"But?.." Jaune asked, "aren't there a lot of combat schools?"
"Indeed." Ozpin replied, "but being a Huntsman is far more than simply combat." Jaune looked at him nervously and questioningly. "It's about hope."
"Then?.." Jaune nervously asked, "Why am I?.."
"Here?" Ozpin asked, and Jaune subtly, slowly, hauntingly nodded. "If hope is a requirement?.." Opzin asked, "Then why are you here?.."
Pyrrha reached out to grab Jaune's right hand, and looked him in the eyes.
"This has to be a mistake." Jaune said to Ozpin.
"I have made a great many mistakes in my considerable lifetime," Ozpin stated, "but have not for a moment considered this to be one of them."
Jaune looked between the two of them, his hand still being held by Pyrrha. He saw the confidence she had for him in her eyes, and remembered what his team had said to him. Jaune then looked back to Ozpin. "Alright, if I'm here, then why is Cardin?"
"As you inspire your team," Ozpin stated, "he inspires his... The only problem..." Ozpin said with a painfully quiet voice, "is what he inspires them to... Sadly, this is a lesson I might not have time to teach."
With this the elevator opened up on the bottom, seemingly as far below ground as the tower was above it.
* * *
Cardin looked at his team, his mace over his shoulder. "We're finally together." he said, and paused. "This is our chance."
"What chance?" Dove asked him.
"Our chance to prove ourselves as Huntsmen... and men." Cardin stated. "We see the chaos going on around us, and let's face it... we can't stop it... We could save ourselves, but then what would we be?"
"Less than animals." Sky stated.
"Our mission," Cardin stated, "is to fight... and not die. Don't spread out too much. We fight as a lance. We fight together. We do as much as we can. We do - NOT - stop... until the last Grimm has fallen, or every other team has withdrawn."
"We're going to die here." Russel stated.
"No." Cardin simply said in reply, and turned back towards the Grimm. He shifted his shoulders forward, indicating he was about to move. The others lined up with Russel behind them. Knowing his team was ready he leaned further forward and ran off, the others momentarily behind him.
* * *
Yang wasn't sure what she was feeling. The obvious answer would be pain, but that wasn't it. It was happening too fast to be pain. Suprise, definitely. Regret. Anguish. Disbelief. Oh, there was a lot of disbelief. She couldn't be here, twising in the air, as her arm was missing. Her aura was up. that's how it worked, wasn't it? You had to break aura to hurt a person, didn't you? But if that was true, she wouldn't see her arm floating further away.
She... she hit the ground... her arm hitting the ground a moment later. She just stared at it as she heard screaming. It all seemed to go black when she felt herself being pulled away. It was Blake... the one thing that comforted her at the moment.
* * *
She lay on her back as the medics attended to her... not that they seemed intent on doing much.
"Girl, can you hear me?" one of the medics asked her, and she felt no need to respond.
"Yang." Blake voiced from beside her. Yang wanted to reach over to grab her, but her arm wouldn't move for some reason. She looked over and saw it on her left side. Well, that would explain it.
"Yang?" the medic said, and her eyes finally opened, trying to focus on him. "Obvious damage aside, your Aura is holding. Good thing it is. But strangely, it seems to be working better than normal. I need to know before treating you..." he said, and Yang's eyes closed again, looking away. "Yang?" he shouted and reached for her head, being pulled away a moment before he would have been punched by her.AC
"She is exceedingly protective of her hair." Ren stated, and the medic nodded.
"Yang?" The medic asked, and turned to Ren. "Thank you." he said, before turning back to Yang. "Please, focus on me. I need you to answer a question." Yang opened her eyes and sleepily looked up at him. "Your Faunus nature... can - it - regenerate?!" Yang blinked at him a few times without saying anything.
"Her father," Ren stated, "has apparently said that she can."
The medic looked at Ren and then back at Yang, "If that is the case, then I shouldn't do any treatment at all. The wound was clean, and has already regenerated around it. How are you?"
"Beaten..." Ren voiced, "but not bloody... With rest... we should be fine."
"What about Jaune and Pyrrha?!" Nora exclaimed.
"If... we knew... where they were..." Ren voiced.
"You two don't look like you are in any position to fight." the medic said to them.
"BUT... LEADER?!"
"If you go into battle right now," the medic said to them, "you will likely just be another casualty."
Nora panted as she tried to speak, but wasn't able to say anything. Ren slumped his way over to her and placed his hand on her shoulder. This seemed to be enough to calm her down.
* * *
Pyrrha kissed Jaune, completely breaking down his defences. She maneuvered him over to the open locker. "I'm sorry." she sadly said to him, and used her semblance to force him into the locker. The force of the impact shattered his antlers. He was so stunned by everything he could only stare as Pyrrha closed the locker and launched him away.
* * *
The locker landed, and opened, and Jaune... he didn't so much move as fall out, and stood. He looked about in a daze, completely unsure of where he was, completely unsure of what he should do, and unsure of what was happening. Pyrrha kissed him. Not like his mother had kissed... or like his... MANY... sisters had kissed him. No, it was a kiss to someone loved, as a man and a woman. In that moment, all of his uncertainties faded away. All of his grief and all of his misfortune, but most of all... all of his self-loathing. He stood up and looked about, finding himself in Vale. Where in Vale he wasn't sure. He never was a big city guy. The country was so much less complicated...
He had to stop Pyrrha. Well, he couldn't stop Pyrrha, that was for sure. Nothing could stop Pyrrha... except maybe for the Fire Witch who gavae Ozpin a run for his money. The only thing that could stop her was... sense... from someone who could walk beside her. The only one he could think of was Weiss. He picked up his scroll.
* * *
"We will!" Weiss spoke through Jaune's scroll. "Are you okay?" she asked. In reply, Jaune threw his scroll against the ground and slumped down to his knees, crying.
"Please?" he asked, knowing he would not get a reply.
* * *
His tears shed and his antlers shed, Jaune found his way back to his feet. He once again looked around. He once again had absolutely no idea where he was.

Toss a Coin
*Team RWBY and co. had arrived in Vacuo weeks ago, got settled in and begun making plans on their next move in bringing down Salem. But first, it was time to rest and relax, for at the battle of Atlas, they had just barely pushed back Salem’s Grimm army thanks to Ruby and her Silver Eyes. Afterwards they and Ironwood made amends, cleared them of their wanted posters, and got them a ride all the way to Vacuo. Right after they landed and reunited with Team SSSN, the first thing they needed was a place to stay...and some (or a lot) of money. So who other than to take a job of ridding Sand Striders of a nearby oasis? Jaune and Sun, both of whom where halfway out in the desert, striking up conversation.*
Sun: So you literally brought back this Clover guy from the brink of death!?
Jaune: Just in time, poor guy was close to flat-lining, if it wasn’t for me giving him some of my Aura, he would’ve died then and there.
Sun: You, my dude, are a damn hero...
Jaune: Yeah, I got that a lot after he woke up. The other Ace Ops were in near hysterics when he came to. *”Elm almost broke my back she was hugging me so hard...” he thought to himself”*
Sun: I guess all’s well that ends w-get down! *ducks behind a dune*
Jaune: What? Oh crap! *ducks behind another*
*There they saw the oasis, as well as the Sand Striders that claimed it. The Grimm in question were tall, their legs long and spear-like, jabbing the water for fish to eat. Their equally as long necks surveying the area for any trespassers on their territory*
Jaune: Are those the Sand Striders? *he whispered*
Sun: Yup, freaky aren’t they?
Jaune: They look like...giraffe’s with way too much nightmare fuel put in them.
Sun: Ha! Not a bad description, man! Now...*readies his nunchucks*...ready to kick some ass?
Jaune: *activating his broadsword* Let’s do this.
*The blonde duo lept from their hiding places and charged the four beasts*
-One badass and epic fight later-
Sun: HELL YEAH! That’ll teach ‘em to mess with the finest Hunters on Remnant! Hahaha!
Jaune, out of breath but smiling: How do you manage to always stay so upbeat, man?
Sun: The rest of my team wonder the same thing, helps keep morale up, Scarlet always says I’m like Jaskier from The Witcher.
Jaune: Uhhh...who from the what???
Sun, jaw going slack and eyes bulging: You don’t know about The Witcher?!
Jaune: *nervous chuckling* Noooo?
Sun: *throws an arm around Jaune’s shoulder* Well my fellow blonde amigo, you, are in for a treat!
Jaune: Heh, alright!
*Sun clears his throat, then hops away from the knight with giddyness in his step. He faced the setting sun, kneeling*
S: When a humble bard, graced a ride along, with Geralt of Rivia, along came this song~...*stands up*
S: From when the White Wolf fought, a silver-tongued devil, his army of elves, at his hooves did they revel~...*turns to Jaune*
S: They came after me, with masterful deceit, broke down my lute and, they kicked in my teeth~...*begins slowly snapping to a beat*
S: While the devil’s horns, minced out tender meat, and so cried the Witcher, he can’t bleat~! *claps, resumes snapping*
S: Toss a coin to you Witcher, o’ Valley of Plenty, o’ Valley of Plenty, ohhh~! Toss a coin to your Witcher, o’ Valley of Plenty~!
Jaune: O_O
Sun: Well???
Jaune: That...was...AWESOME!!!
Sun: I know right!?
Jaune: I don’t how it managed to be so catchy but god bless the person who came up with it!
Sun: Jaskier.
Jaune: Right, right. Awwww now I feel bad because I just bought a loot from the nearby market in the city and left it with the gang!
Sun: It’s all good, man! Song’s so good we hardly need instruments!
Jaune: Fair enough then. Was that the whole song or what?
Sun: Nope, figured I save it on the way back.
Jaune: Well then what are we waiting for!
Sun: Nothing! Follow my lead. *gets next to the knight wrapping his arm around his shoulder again*
S: At the edge of the world, fight the mighty horde, that bashes and breaks you, and leaves you to mourn~!
J: *remembering he’s partially heard the rest of the song before* He thrust every elf, far back on the shelf, high up on the mountain, from whence it came~.
S: Now you’re gettin’ it! He wiped out your pest, got kicked in his chest, he’s a friend of humanity, so give him the rest~!
J: That’s my epic tail, a champion prevailed~.
S: Defeated the villain, now pour him some ale~!!!
*And so the boys joyfully and boastfully sung their way back to town, heads held high and voices loud enough for all of Remnant to hear*
-Back in town, outside the hotel-
Ruby: They should be back by now. You think they got hurt?
Blake: Doubt it, knowing them Sun must’ve came up with something to get it done quickly, but also decided to give them some down time before they left. Vacuo is pretty...as much as barren sand dunes can get.
Ruby: *chuckles* Yeah you’re right.
Blake, ears twitching: Wait, do you hear that???
Ruby: Hear what?
*Through the throngs of people going to and fro, Blake’s sensitive hearing managed to pick up two familiar voices far to the right of them, who appeared to be singing in tandem with each other, to a rather merry tune*
“Toss a coin to your Witcher, o’ Valley of Plenty, o’ Valley of Plenty, ohhh~! Toss a coin to your Witcher, a friend of humanity~!!!”
Blake: That way, it’s them!
Ruby: I hear it now, I know that song! *she sped off like a rocket taking her teammate with her in a flurry of red and black petals. The reaper and Faunus stopped just short of barreling over their friends, looking at them with excited faces*
Ruby/Blake: HOW DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT SONG!?!?
Sun: I know about it! Watched the show with the guys before you came here!
Jaune: I just sang along because it was catchy and I somewhat heard of it, how do you know about it?
*Ruby and Blake almost looked offended at the statement*
Ruby/Blake: We LOVE The Witcher!!!
Ruby, proudly: Played all three games and completed them all one hundred percent!
Blake, blushing and twiddling her fingers: I’ve read all the books, they were amazing. And I’ve...reread them several times now, haha.
*Sun and Jaune looked amongst themselves, eyes wide with realization*
Sun/Jaune: We have found our people....
-Later that night in a tavern-
*The place was a harmonious choir a Hunstmen and civilians alike, singing along as the four teens sang and dance with each other to the jovial song*
RJBS: Toss a coin to your Witcher, o’ Valley of Plenty, o’ Valley of Plenty, ohhh~! Toss a coin to your Witcher, a friend of humanity~!!! Toss a coin to your Witcher, o’ Valley of Plenty, o’ Valley of Plenty, ohhh~! Toss a coin to your Witcher, a friend of humanity~!!!!!
*They reached its end, the whole tavern exploding in cries of gleeful enjoyment, some demanding for an encore, raising their glasses and mugs in their stupor*
Yang: I gotta hand it to ‘em, they sure do know how to please a crowd.
Weiss: Think they would’ve cheered louder if I sang too?
Ren: Do you know the lyrics?
Weiss: N-no...?
_SSN: Then no.
Weiss: Hey!!!
Scarlet: Well it takes a while to get the song down pat, dear.
Sage: We stumbled and mixed a few words up when we first heard it.
Neptune: I would’ve cheered you on just for trying, Snow Angel.
Weiss, ignoring her creeping blush: Thank you! At least someone recognizes true talent.
Nora: Eh, I think they still had you beat.
Weiss: *growls*
*The group all laughed, meanwhile Ruby, Jaune, Blake, and Sun were actually being handed a few Lien just for singing the song from a few patrons. Truly, the song was a thing to behold.*
(A/N: This whole post was based around a headcanon my good man @darksaiyangoku came up with a while back, gave it a little twist of mine and added some slight Lancaster, Black Sun, and Iceberg (cuz why not). Go check him out, he makes good stuff, also watch The Witcher on Netflix if you haven’t, IT’S SO FUCKING GOOD!!!)

‘You and I’
"Those drinks aren't gonna mix themselves, Nora! Stop gawking at Ren's behind and sling some drinks already!" Pyrrha joked though she could definitely use the assistance. The Dirty Glass was packed tightly on this Friday evening. Nothing special was going on, as far as she knew, but Friday was a busier day.
Nora rolled her eyes at the back end of Pyrrha's comment and grabbed two bottles. She popped the caps off the two stouts and slid them down the bar to waiting patrons. The two of them threw their Lien on the bar and thanked the electric redhead. They had left a good bit of change, which Nora threw into a jar behind the counter.
"I love people who pay in cash..." Nora mused, spacing for a second. She caught a shot glass Pyrrha had tossed to her without realizing it.
"I need a Screwdriver for table nineteen, ma'am!" Ren asked her as he stepped into the kitchen to collect a meal for delivery. Her orange hair bounced as she shook the orange juice and vodka in a steel cup, straining the mixture into the shot glass Pyrrha had tossed her. She dripped some Grenadine into the beverage for a bit more color. "Thank you, my love!" Ren told her with a wink as he scooped up the glass and made for his table.
Nora's eyes turned to hearts at that.
"Are you ever going to jump that boy?" A patron at the bar asked her. Nora giggled at the blue-haired woman, a regular customer she'd known for a while, knowing full well that she'd been joking.
"I pounce on him regularly, hon! Our neighbors probably want us evicted!" She joked. Pyrrha rolled her eyes and chortled.
"If anything, they want Jaune and me to get lost!" Pyrrha winked.
"I appreciate not hearing about your sexy time at work, Nikos!" Ren complained with a laugh as he emptied a bucket of ice into a cooler. "Then again, not hearing about my own would be wonderful too!" He jabbed. Nora stuck her tongue out at him.
"That will only make things worse, Thunder!" Pyrrha joked back. Ren rolled his eyes and returned to the kitchen.
"How come your boy isn't here?" The customer asked Pyrrha. She blushed at the words.
"He's on the full restaurant side. I'm headed over there as soon as my shift is over. I'm supposed to sing a couple of numbers with the jazz band playing."
"Ooh, you sing? Sing for me!"
"It's a bit too noisy in here, ma'am..." Pyrrha attempted to dodge the request. Jaune walked in through the kitchen. It must be his break time.
"Aw, come on! Your boy's here now! Sing him a song and let us all hear!" The customer encouraged.
Nora slammed her fist on the metal sink behind the bar. "Attention, patrons! We will now treat you all to a musical number from our very own PYRRHA NIKOS!!!" She announced, her voice thundering through the bar. The whole room went quiet.
"I'm going to whip your butt when we get home!" Pyrrha complained.
"Talk dirty to me, Magnet!" Nora retorted, a few customers laughing. Pyrrha rolled her eyes and stepped up onto a barstool and then up to the bar.
"Don't tell anyone you saw this, or I'll kill all of you!" She joked. She pondered her song choice for a minute, then stomped and clapped a beat. The crowd followed with their own feet and hands.
Don't you worry there, my honey
We might not have any money,
But we've got our love to pay the bills
Maybe I think you're cute and funny
Maybe I want to do what bunnies
Do with you, if you know what I mean
She grinned and winked at Jaune as she sang that line. The blond boy blushed ten shades of red at that. He knew he'd have to join her for the next verse. Pyrrha stomped her way into the chorus.
Oh, let's get rich and buy our parents homes in the south of France
Let's get rich and give everybody nice sweaters and teach them how do dance
Let's get rich and build a house on a mountain, making everybody look like ants
From way up there, you and I, You and I
Jaune climbed onto the bar next to Pyrrha. She planted a soft kiss on his lips, earning some rowdy cheers from their audience.
[Jaune]: Well you might be a bit confused
[Pyrrha]: And you might be a little bit bruised
{Jaune]; But, baby, how we spoon like no one else.
So I will help you read those books
If you will soothe my worried looks
[Both]: And we will put the lonesome on the shelf
The two of them stomped and clapped away as they sang the chorus through twice. The entire bar clapped and cheered for the two of them. They kissed again before climbing off the bar.
"I love you, Knight..." Pyrrha told Jaune softly.
"I love you more, Magnet..." He replied, kissing her again.
"That's impossible, but I believe you anyway." Pyrrha twirled a lock of her deep red hair with one finger.
"BACK TO WORK! THESE DRINKS AREN'T GONNA MIX THEMSELVES, REMEMBER?!" Nora chided with a laugh. Pyrrha rolled her eyes and mixed three cocktails in the time it took Nora to make one.
"I might just whip your butt right now!"
"Oh, baby!" Nora retorted, poking her behind out toward Pyrrha.
"This shift is never going to end..." Ren resigned from the kitchen, where he was now cooking a steak dinner. "At least you get to leave this craziness," He told Jaune as the blond boy was stepping out the door to venture back across the street to the Light and the Glass.
The rest of their shift ran smoothly enough. Ren and Nora ran home together, thankful for the alone time they would receive. Pyrrha changed clothes, trading her awful uniform for a spectacularly scarlet evening gown, before making her way across the street to perform with the Dust Crystals. They were a four-piece smooth jazz outfit that played local venues, and Pyrrha was friends with their saxophone player. Topaz and her cohorts always welcomed Pyrrha's pipes to share their stage.
Pyrrha and Jaune caught a taxi back to the flat they shared with Ren and Nora. Those two had tired themselves out by the time Pyrrha and Jaune returned, so now they would get some alone time.

TCSE AU Chapter 12:
Waking up early was something Ruby was never a fan of. Especially when the freezing temps of winter arrive. Ruby woke up with her blankets scrunched up at her toes, leaving the rest of her exposed to the cold air in the room. It was still pitch black, no light in anywhere in the room other than a slight red hue. She checked the clock down below on the bookcase, the red numbers almost too dull to be legible. They really needed to change the batteries.
“It’s only 2? Then why on Remnant did I wake up so early?” she mumbled to herself.
Grabbing the blankets at her feet, she pulled them over her body. The sheets were freezing cold, causing Ruby to shiver furiously. It didn’t take long for her to warm up, her semblance being able to speed up the process. However, she couldn’t go back to sleep. Try as she might, her mind was wide awake.
There was no use in trying, so she might as well plan out the day. Glynda had announced a few days ago that the newbies would join their sparring class today. Ruby wished she’d go against Neptune to teach him a lesson. But what are the odds of that happening?
Speaking of Neptune, she was glad she now knew the location of his living quarters. The dance was one day away, the plan her friends had come up with would soon be put into action. Jaune and Pyrrha were assigned to watch the dance. Ren and Nora would watch above the nearest street to Beacon. Blake and Sun would watch the apartment complex entrance. Yang was assigned to keep Ruby company until it was time to go.
She wasn’t sure how it was to go down, especially since she didn’t make the plan—which she was very used to doing. There was one thing that really stuck in Ruby’s mind however, a word of advice Sun had told her after their plan was devised.
“You’re gonna have to wait it out. Go in too early and Weiss might not trust you the way she did.”
She understood this clearly. If she had gone with Neptune doing absolutely nothing, Weiss would inevitably take Neptune’s side and most likely never end up with her. Because the dance pushed curfew back to 10:30, Ruby would have to wait until after that. Weiss always knows about curfew, never staying out even one second after it hits. So if things go wrong that night, everyone would know immediately.
Or at least those who helped Ruby.
Suddenly, she felt waves of drowsiness come to rescue her. Her eyes felt droopy, slowly closing all by themselves. Her mind was now calmer, soon there was absolutely nothing to think about. And just like that, she had fallen asleep.
————
When the alarm started going off, Ruby sat up, stretching her arms and legs. She felt quite refreshed, although still a little sleepy. She had just woken up, the sleep had not yet been shaken off. Lifting the white privacy blanket that covered her bed, she jumped down below, landing in the same spot she had always been landing on. She remembered during the first few days of Beacon, she would nearly land on Weiss because of their lack of communication. Both of them had learned which side would be occupied during wake up hour. Weiss would scoot to her left, closer to the bookcase, while Ruby would land on the right, closer to their desks on the wall.
As her feet touched the ground, she immediately heard the groans of her sister, who absolutelt hated mornings.
“Right on que,” Ruby said quietly. She thought no one else had heard it until she noticed Blake’s smile.
“You’re most definitely right about that, Ruby.”
The four girls began their morning routine, Ruby taking the first shower today. The other three ironed their uniforms, ironing Ruby’s in the process.
Within a few more minutes, the young leader was out of the bathroom with a towel to cover her body. Her hair was still slightly wet, but shook her head like a dog to dry it. Weiss entered the bathroom next, Blake to be the following.
About half an hour later, the team of huntresses were ready for class. Grimm Biology with Professor Port, one of the worst professors in Beacon. Although there were important lessons in his stories on encountering Grimm, he merely spoke of himself and how he always barely escaped with a toothbrush and a stick for his weapons. None of the students bought it, for obvious reasons, but that didn’t stop him.
Sparring class would come after that. Ruby was excited for that, ready to show the newbies the true Ruby Rose that the whole world has apparently been rumoring about.
“So are we all ready to go? Weapons sharpened and such?” Ruby asked, repeating the same question since the beginning of Beacon.
They all replied with a hasty ‘yes ma’am’ and proceeded to their first class of the day. Of course they’d have to have their breakfast first. Team JNPR had decided to join them, exchanging morning greetings amongst each other. Ruby was positive this day would be a good one until—
“Hey Snow Angel.”
Ruby immediately felt disturbed as she watched the blue-headed dumbass snaked his arm around Weiss’ waist. Yang rubbed Ruby’s shoulders as if she was preparing Ruby for a fight.
“You’ll get your chance, Tiger. Just take it easy for now.”
With a sigh, she knew her sister was right. She shouldn’t let these emotions out. Not just yet anyway.
“What am I supposed to do about them then? I hate seeing him. Absolutely hate it.” Ruby said, crossing her arms.
“Hmmm...I guess you could keep thinking he’s an ass. Bottle up the feelings and save it for him. That’s what I tend to do.” Yang replied.
“But i don’t just think he’s an ass. He is an ass.”
“Valid. But isn’t that just another reason to save the emotions? Let him have it when he deserves it?”
Blake tapped Ruby’s shoulder, the younger girl turning her head to meet the gaze of her book-loving friend. “I suggest proving your point without exposing yourself. Do it subtly.”
“How would I do that?”
“You’ve seen that one movie, right? I can’t remember the name, but it was about a dad who wanted to see his kids but had to dress up as their nanny?”
Yang snapped her fingers as a sign of recognition. “Oh, I know what you’re talking about! Gosh, I don’t remember the name either, but Ruby and I have most definitely seen it.”
“Great. So you remember that one scene where he throws a lime at the boyfriend’s head? Do something like that and play it out.” If there was one thing Blake enjoyed doing other than reading, it would be helping Ruby. She saw Ruby as the younger sister she never had, wanting to love and cherish her like an older sister would. But of course she’d be more mature than Yang while doing so.
“I think it’s a great idea!” Yang said with a grin. “He won’t have a clue, especially with your sneakiness.”
Ruby thought about what Blake had recommended. She was great at lying if she did say so herself. She’s hidden the real burden of the silver eye thing from Yang for ages, but then again, Yang was pretty gullible. Regardless, there was no harm in trying. No harm to herself at least.
Now that they were out of the dorm building, they were out on the paved area of Beacon. Blake reaches down to grab a small rock, handing it to Ruby with a nod.
Raising her arm and bringing it back, she readied herself and took a deep breath, something she always did when she prepared to take a shot with her sniper. Her arm followed through, the rock now released and hurtling towards Neptune’s head.
The rock hit its intended destination, the blue-head turning around while the back of his head. Ruby quickly looked for someone to blame, immediately turning to Yang.
“Yang, why would you throw that? Apologize to Neptune!”
Neptune shook his head and faced forward. Clearly he didn’t buy it, and Ruby could tell. But that didn’t bother her. She hit him in the head, which was all she cared for. Weiss turned her head around shortly after Neptune had turned his, glaring at the three girls behind her.
Yang sighed, her shoulders slumping as she held her sibling’s shoulder. “Whelp, you’re a lost cause. Good luck with that.”
“What do you mean good luck with that? You’re supposed to help me!”
“You’re acting is still as bad as Little Red Riding Hood. You’re trying too hard.”
“Hey, I thought we were never to speak of that again!”
Blake let out a little giggle. The sisters placed their attention on the giggling Faunus.
“Blake? I’ve never heard you laugh before,” Ruby pointed out. “Did we do something wrong?”
The bowed girl continued to laugh. “No, you did nothing wrong. I just thought that it was completely like you to be Little Red Riding Hood.”
Ruby groaned in annoyance, hitting her sister in dread. “Yaaaaang, look what you made her do! I’ll never live without teasing thanks to you!”
“Sorry Sis, that’s what older sisters do!” Yang ruffled Ruby’s hair playfully, eliciting another groan.
Before long, the two teams and Neptune were at the mess hall, getting their trays of food and claiming their seats. Ruby used to enjoy eating with her friends, but she absolutely abhorred it. Her friends had noticed and also felt uncomfortable. It wasn’t the food, the meals weren’t that bad. They were decent and provided a sufficient amount of nutrients. Yang or Ren’s cooking was better.
But meals were no longer enjoyable with Neptune around. Weiss kept gushing over him, only sat with him, and refused to look st anyone that wasn’t him. Ruby truly hated this, her hatred for Neptune burning stronger each minute.
Yang rubbed her sister’s shoulder. “Don’t think about it too much, Rubes. You’ll get your victory.”
Ruby have a small smile as she took a bite of her cookie. She will have her victory. Patience was the key to that.
Within about fifteen minutes, the two teams were off to their first class. Ruby had taken her usual seat, Blake and Yang to her right. Typically, Weiss would sit beside her on the left. But Neptune was in the way. He sat comfortably between Ruby and Weiss, but Ruby was cramped between him and Blake.
“Neptune, do you think you can move a bit? I’d prefer enough room to work, and I’m sure Weiss would too,” Ruby added a hint of venom in her voice.
“Hmmm, how about...no.” he replied. His smirk truly pissed Ruby off.
“Dickhead,” Ruby muttered under her breath, not caring if Neptune heard or not.
Class passed quickly, it was now sparring class with the newbies. Glynda was swiftly explaining how their sparring matches worked and instructed the students to focus on attack today. A few moments of silence go by as she scans the auditorium, recounting the students above in the seats.
With her riding crop, she pointed at two students. “Miss Rose and Mr. Vasilias, would you two like to go first?”
Ruby grinned. Now was her moment. She stood and kept her composure, nodding at the woman down below. “With pleasure, Professor.”
Neptune stood and popped his neck. “It’s about time I actually got to do something interesting here.”
They both proceeded downstairs and to the preparation room. Ruby readied her scythe, preparing her dust rounds and sharpening the giant blade she wielded. She changed out of her uniform and into her combat attire. With everything set, she glanced at her opponent. He was still preparing his weapon while putting on his red jacket.
“Hey Jackass,” she called out, “if I win this, you leave Weiss alone.”
He scoffed. “As if I should listen to a dyke like you. Now listen here, Rudy,” he started strutting towards the younger girl. “You guys may have your little rules here about holding back when your aura runs low or some crap, but you’re going against me. No mercy, especially for a stupid dyke like you. Make note of that.”
“My name is Ruby!”
“Like I care.” Neptune walked out onto the arena.
Ruby took a moment to sit down. She still had a couple more minutes before her match began, which gave her plenty of time to think of her strategies.
I don’t know his fighting style. I don’t even know what his weapon is. Just take him down. As hastily and painfully as possible. He needs to know who he’s dealing with. I am Ruby Rose, daughter of the great Summer Rose! I am the greatest future huntress to walk the face of Remnant! I refuse to disappoint Weiss!
It was now about time to get out on the arena. Ruby took her place as Neptune took his. They faced each other, not more than a dozen paces away from each other. Their gazes at one another were sharper than knives, the atmosphere beginning to change. The tension was thickening quickly.
“Ready your weapons!” Glynda called out, her voice echoing throughout the auditorium.
They both pulled out their weapons, surging into their fullest forms. Ruby’s scythe drew attention from the newbies, many of them surprised to see such a small girl use such a bulky weapon. Neptune’s weapon was a trident, fitting with his name.
A trident, huh? Never seen one of those before. It’s pretty much a spear though, so just trap the weapon under the scythe and strike. This should be easy.
With both students ready to begin, Glynda withdrew her arm.
“Begin!”
Using the tactic she does nearly every time when facing a spear-wielder, she rushed in and pointed her scythe blade down, the gun muzzle facing Neptune. With the way Neptune was holding his weapon, Ruby’s strategy was made easier. The center tip of the trident was now lodged into Ruby’s muzzle, exactly how Ruby had wanted it.
With a grin, she fired her first round, shattering the center blade and sending Neptune flying backwards. Of course, this tactic was made for spears, but it seemed to work well for the trident. There were still two others, but neither of them were nearly as long as the center. His reach was now more limited.
She continued to do her typical combat strategies, deploying every single one that came to mind. Dust rounds, a little bit of hand-to-hand combat, lots of swift swings of the blade. Each one proving effective in the battle.
Isn’t he going a little too easy? Is he holding back? This doesn’t feel quite right.
He paused. Ruby took it as an opening, rushing in with the blade to strike. As soon as she lifted her arms, Neptune jabbed the two blades into Ruby, her aura badly damaged from that. She was now at around 60%, surprised that she had taken heavy damage from one hit. She fell to the ground, and suddenly she felt unable to get up. She couldn’t move, no matter how hard she tried.
Then she noticed the the sparks of electricity coming off of the two blades. Paralysis shock properties from lightning dust. His blades were clearly infused with tons of it. And he was only using them now.
Ruby couldn’t move, and the students above were starting to whisper among each other. She tried and tried to move something, but was only met with pain in the process. Neptune was shooting from a distance, her aura quickly decreasing.
“Ruby, get up!”
Silver eyes raced to find the one who shouted out to her. It was her sister, waving her arm around to get attention. “You need to get up!”
She pushed herself harder, starting to feel the paralysis wear off. She could move her fingers, her feet could now move, and soon her whole body was back in commission. Swing her scythe around, she managed to block a few more shots Neptune fired, retaliating quickly.
Neptune was much more skilled than Ruby had anticipated. The battle went on, their auras at equal level. But with another strike, Ruby’s was only one hit away from being completely depleted. She refused to lose and would stop at nothing to claim her victory.
But then she felt a pang in her chest. She looked up to see Neptune holding his ranged weapon pointed at her.
“Match set!”
And that was the end of the match. Ruby couldn’t believe it. She lost the match.
But it wasn’t over. In a flash of blue, she felt a searing pain in her waist, many gasps heard from above in the auditorium. Ruby placed her hand on her waist, pulling it back immediately when she felt the pain. There was blood. A lot of it. And she was losing it quickly.
“Neptune Vasilias, that was completely unnecessary! The match was already ended, proceeding any further is strictly prohibited!” Glynda shouted.
“I’m sorry,” he said, clearly not apologetic for anything. “At Haven, they taught us to show no mercy.”
“I will have you know that you are at Beacon currently. You abide by our rules. You may have been taught that, but our hunters and huntresses show restraint under any circumstances. Have I made myself clear?” Glynda’s voice was louder and more serious than it had ever been, it was actually starting to scare many of the students there.
Yang and Blake rushed to get to Ruby. Paramedics blocked Ruby’s view of anything else, and before she knew it, she was already on a stretcher. Her final glance at Weiss was with Neptune, not even turning once to see Ruby.
Weiss...
Please come back...
To us, team RWBY...
And to me, your partner...
~~~~
What a wonderful Sunday to post another chapter! If you’re all wondering why Neptune is an antagonist in this story, it’s simply one reason: I don’t like Neptune. I just thought he got in the way of Whiterose in Volume 2, and I was really annoyed by him. So I decided that because I hate him (nothing against those who actually like him), I’d make the sensible characters hate him and everyone oblivious to what lies beneath. How cliche.
I dunno, it made more sense in my head.
Until next chatper!
Done dirty: Ruby
“Main Protagonist” my ass!
Ruby is supposed to be the main protagonist. She’s supposed to have this grand destiny she’s supposed to fulfill, and be the hero.
So why does it feel like she’s taking a back seat to everything important?
Take the Red trailer. We don’t get a whole lot for her, she’s jut there kicking ass. She’s tearing through those Beowolves like they’re nothing, and it’s some great choreography.
Then in Volume 1, we run into the first problem: She kicks the ass of Roman’s men without her weapon.
See, the writers have repeatedly said that Ruby is trash without Crescent Rose, and Volume 5 reinforced that. Not only is it something that is told, it’s something that contradicts what we are shown. Ruby goes gaga in a later episode over weapons, and that’s never brought up again. It would have been a great running gag, and a means to introduce the weapons that the main cast has to the audience in a natural way. Here’s a scenario: After Ruby cuts up those grimm while saving Weiss, she starts examining the weapon. To which Weiss begrudgingly answers the questions in a failed attempt to get Ruby to shut up.
“Ohh! Is this a Rapier mixed with a milti-chamber dust revolver so that you can use them for different effects?”
“Yes.” Weiss ground out.
“And it it made up of a steel-titanium alloy that makes it really durable?” (This part isn’t actually canon, but I think it would be neat if we knew what kind of materials these weapons are traditionally made out of).
“Yes.”
“Can I touch her?”
“What?- No! You can’t touch Myrtenaster!“
“Oh. So the weapon’s name is Myrtenaster?- That’s cool. You should see my sister’s weapons. She called them Ember Celica, and she made it so that they can look like ordinary bracelets when they’re not in use. They mix long-range shotguns with gauntlets, and they’re really cool!”
See that?- All of that could have been a conversation that Ruby could have had with Weiss. Not only would it have been natural, given Ruby’s love for weapons, but it also would have been a great way to introduce the weapons that the cast uses. We could have gotten a similar conversation (using different attitudes depending on the person) with other characters. It could have been a cool bonding moment. Ruby also apparently doesn’t have to prove that she can be a capable leader to Weiss. In this scenario, most would expect that the main leader would have to do something to prove themselves, and prove the person who doubts them wrong. But we don’t get that. All it takes to reinvigorate Ruby’s confidence is a talk from a teacher, and Weiss gets lectured by Ozpin. This could have also led into an interesting bonding moment, and show the differences between how Ruby and Weiss function, and how Blake and Yang function. But we don’t get that character interaction. Ruby gets further robbed of character interaction/development when jaune hijacks the plot to reveal that he’s putting his team in danger due to his lack of experience and reluctance to be trained because ego™. Ruby doesn’t even rush out to find Blake with her semblance, she just… stands there. Doing nothing. Some team leader. She also sides with Weiss on this, and since we never saw any bonding moments between the two, there’s no evidence to believe that the reason she’s siding with Weiss is because of a bond that they have.
Volume 2 also does Ruby an injustice. While the Food Fight has some moments for her (Like quoting Nixon for some reason), she doesn’t do much else. Because she’s not questioned while the team is visiting Mount Glenn, her motives are never questioned. She isn’t questioned on how she plans to accomplish her goal, or on how she would handle tough decisions. Ruby lacks focus in this volume, and the most she gets in terms of bonding with her team and character development is…
Tumblr media
This scene… Which, while humorous, doesn’t really add much else. Ruby then uses her speed to defeat JNPR (And here’s a kicker: Assuming that the mess hall is the length of an average school, Ruby is actually only moving 10 Meters per second. She’s slower that freaking Hercule Satan!), and… That’s about it. Apparently she also confronts Cinder during the dance, but she hardly provides anything else. The Ozluminati don’t take any precautions because of this ‘masked intruder,’ none of them bother to check to see if their systems have any malicious hardware on it, they just sit around… With Ozpin probably literally dicking around in his dick chair.
Tumblr media
(Why does it look like a dick?)
Volume 3 doesn’t add much. Outside of referring to Weiss as her ‘BFF,’ Ruby doesn’t actually do anything in this volume. And get used to that, because this is just the start of that trend. Ruby ends up taking a back seat to a lot of things, like Pyrrha’s first and final character arc, Yang’s framing, and some backstory for the villains. Ruby acknowledges Penny, and… Yeah. That’s kinda it. After that, she has a small breakdown on Pyrrha committing manslaughter (bot slaughter? mechaslaughter? droidslaughter?- Whatever), but that’s undermined by jaune taking Pyrrha aside to repeat the sentiment. Ruby’s words fall on deaf ears because she’s taking a backseat to Pyrrha’s arc. Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem, but in normal situations, Ruby’s motives, personality, and other aspects would have made her a character in her own right. And had this not been a rushed attempt to give Pyrrha some non-jaune related characterization before her death, Ruby taking a supporting role would have been normal. After everything, she ultimately defeats Neo (by using a weakness on Ice Cream Girl’s weapon), and watches Roman die. She feels no remorse, nor does she seem to have any real reaction. I mean… This is a young girl! And she just saw two people die right in front of her!- Yeah, Roman’s a villain, but his speech about surviving should have shaken Ruby up a bit. Maybe even force her to realize that some people aren’t bad for the lulz (that’s Cinder’s role), but that they do bad things because they’re in bad situations. Pyrrha’s death ultimately sets off her Silver Eyes, and then Qrow gives her the rundown on her newfound powers. This is where a lot of things start going wrong in a narrative sense for Ruby. She doesn’t question this. She doesn’t ask how they work. And she doesn’t ask how her mother could have been killed if she had this power. Then she sets off, knowing that Yang’s emotionally vulnerable, and that a lot of things went down the drain for her. Sure, Ruby has this grand destiny, but she doesn’t seem to leave a letter specifically for Yang. She leave a generic one for both Yang and Tai.
Volume 4 is where it gets obvious that the writers have likely forgotten about Ruby being, y’know… The first letter in the title. She takes a backseat to jaune’s angst, as well as the Renora duo’s conclusion to their backstory (Let’s face it; Ren and Nora have so little character to them, that they’re basically the same character). Ruby doesn’t comment on Penny’s death, she only acknowledges Pyrrha once, and her mentioning the family that she left behind to go on this quest that her uncle all but explicitly gave to her isn’t even mentioned. And when Ruby is about to finally acknowledge what happened, jaune steps in and is all “Nah, don’t worry about what you’ve done. You’re doing fine.” effectively robbing Ruby of any kind of development that she’d get by questioning herself and her decisions. She sends a letter home, and that’s it. She gives this monologue that genuinely feels that the writers only gave her because they realized, at the last minute “Oh crap! Ruby didn’t have a lot to do this volume!”- So they gave her that speech to make it seem that she grew, but it doesn’t actually feel like she grew.
Volume 5 rolls along, and by this point, we’re almost used to Ruby not getting any development. She isn’t questioning anything that Ozpin tells her. Nobody does. And she then learns hand-to-hand. Now, it feels as if the writers did this, as a means to try to say that they gave Ruby development, but they’re not exactly doing it right.
Yes, Ruby needs development. They acknowledge as much. But they don’t understand how she needs development. If they really wanted to teach her hand-to-hand, have Ruby be the one who suggests it. There’s a video that suggests that Ruby is afraid of her silver eyes, and it’s an interesting idea, albeit, not well-communicated. Here’s an idea as to how it could go down
Ozpin: Now, miss Rose, we will be needing to work on your control over your silver eyes.
Ruby (Frightened): My… My silver eyes?
Ozpin: Yes. Is there a problem?
Ruby: No! I mean, uh… How about I help Oscar train in hand-to-hand? I could use a bit of training without my weapon anyways. Heh heh…
And there you have it. Ruby trains in hand-to-hand because she’s afraid of her Silver Eyes. The last time she used them, a grimm dragon got petrified on top of Beacon Tower, and she fell unconscious for a long time. It would make sense had it been better-communicated to the audience if this were truly the reason why Ruby never once asked about them.
Ruby’s lack of development hardly stops there. She doesn’t get the fight with Cinder (You know… The fight that’s been foreshadowed by practically everything, from the opening themes, to Cinder’s grudge, to freaking episode one where Ruby foils Cinder’s dust heist), she ends up fighting Emerald while jaune’s revenge boner leads him to take on Cinder. That’s like Sokka fighting Ozai while Aang fights the random Fire Nation Soldiers. Jaune should have fought Emerald (While Emerald uses an illusion to make him see Cinder, or even Pyrrha as a means to taunt him), and Ruby gets to be the one to take on Cinder. Her Silver Eyes should have activated when she saw Vernal deplete Weiss’ aura. Because as far as Ruby knows, Vernal is the maiden, and seeing another maiden towering above a friend of hers that doesn’t have any aura should have triggered the Silver Eyes instead. The most she does is tell a speech to Raven that… didn’t really feel like a real thing. Most of the victories we saw on-screen rarely took teamwork, and mostly revolved around one moment of awesome that just undermined the threat of the grimm or big bad guys. She’s about as effective as a level five Bulbasaur in Inferno Cave.
Ruby is constantly taking a backseat to most moments that develop the much more interesting cast and jaune.
And once the story is all said and done?- What is she going to do? What is she going to do once the heroes defeat Salem, and the world is safe from the threat of the grimm?
Yang has some world exploring to do. Blake has equality to keep alive. Weiss has a company to run. Ren and Nora have each other……… What’s left for Ruby? What are her goals for after the adventure is over?
Nothing.
jaune and nora will  both partially reference killuona like how ruby and yang to gon
https://megashadowdragon . tumblr . com/post/175313934762/rwbys-references-to-hunter-x-hunter/embed
(Hunter x Hunter and montyoum and miles luna both watched hunter x hunter andd miles luna outright stated they loved hunter x hunter twitter . com/themilesluna/status/375800879183450112?lang=en ). (check the video out below)
in hunter x hunter there is a group called the hunter association and in order to become a hunter you take an exam and there is a special ability called nen which can be awakened through either training or the more dangerous version is when you can get hit by a nen user causing you to gain nen. and with nen the hunters create specific nen abilities forf themselves which they utilize along with the basic nen skills including one called aura they only have one which is like semblances. and of course aura is utilized in rwby
hunterxhunter . wikia . com/wiki/Nen
Nen teaches one to control their own aura flow and utilize the energy
A student learning Nen trains to manually open and close their aura nodes so that they can control the flow of their aura. One typically learns this process slowly and gradually through meditation. There exists a second method, colloquially called Initiation or Baptism, which consists in receiving an influx of aura from an experienced user that forces the nodes to open
Tumblr media
and its very similar to what pyrrha did with jaune
Tumblr media
Miles says that a lot of inspiration for Ruby came from Gon from Hunter x Hunter  in that while they may not always be at the forefront of everything, they still act as a ‘connecting tissue’ for a lot of the character’s stories.
and one of the hunter x hunter characters kurapika is from a tribe which if you get angry your eyes turn red. and gon is a character whose father was a hunter and he abandoned gon when he was a kid so gon wanted to become a hunter because he wanted to know why his father abandoned them he wanted to find his father to know why his father abandoned him
and yang was abandoned by raven and it was a goal of yangs to find raven for years and she wanted to find her after when she learnt about her just like it was gons goal to find his father after learning that he was alive
some people claimed they threw that aspect of yang away
 but no they didnt throw that aspect of yang away Yang’s complete lack of interest in emotionally connecting with her mother after she’d previously been shown almost desperately searching for Raven and wanting to learn why she left is neatly explained by the reveal of Raven’s semblance. Once Tai told her that Raven, wherever she was, could have visited Yang any time she wanted to but didn’t, Yang realized Raven wasn’t going to be the type of mother she wanted, or needed.
 killua didnt know nen when he went to the hunter exams and and didnt know it when he was sent to thetower of heaven when he was even younger than that killua is someone who should have known what nen was like jaune should have known aura since killua is from a family of assassins who know how to use nen his father and big brother and younger brother learnt nen a while ago they sent him to tower of heaven and told him to reach thee 200th floor which is where the nen users would be so they wanted him to learn nen through initiation which had the risk of an injury it makes me wonder if jaunes family will turn out to be assassins as a reference to hunter x hunter except while killuas family expected much from him as an assassin jaunes didnt. I dont really believe this is more of a discussion because I noticed many references to hunter x hunter and wondering what other references to hunter x hunter they will make and possibility of jaune having to deal with realizing the truth of his family that they arent the heroes he thought they were
what if jaunes father was responsible for summer roses death so this would add to jaune being a foil to ruby.
" jaune is a foil To Ruby. She's a prodigy who quickly became a deadly warrior at a young age and is welcomed into Beacon two years early as a result while Jaune is a hard worker who progresses slowly and had to lie his way into Beacon because of his nonexistent combat background. Ruby is a strategist specialized on pre-defined team attacks and wields a self-made weapon capable of long range combat. Jaune is a tactician specialized in creating new team attacks according to his analysis on the battlefield and wields a family heirloom only capable of close range combat. Ruby has a rather broken family but they fully support her decision to become a huntress while Jaune's family is large and united but they don't support his choices nor have any faith on him. Ruby is a tomboy who dominates the battlefield but doesn't enjoy dancing whereas Jaune tends to act girly and is initially terrible at fighting but also a great dancer. The more you look into them as a pair, the more contrasts that can be spotted in the details."
rubys parents her family were good people and fighting the good fight though they were a broken family while jaunes family would be bad people who served for their own desires/ends though they treated him well and were united speaking of jaune referencing how killua was from a family of assassins given how yang has gons part about wanting to find his parent
 I think nora valkyrie will reference killua  whose nen ability relates to electricity so  that they both already have electricity powers killua ran away from his family of assassins and the zoldyck family killuas family his parents and older brother etc abused him   which makes me think that nora  like killua was abused by her parents and siblings( if she has any) and ran away  which is why she was in the state that she was in when ren met her (family of assassins for jaune , electricity powers and abusive household for nora)
Welcome to Reality
http://dudeblade.tumblr.com/post/165307951521/is-remnant-stupid
How many times are we gonna go over this?
First, let’s do the big stuff.
Almost all of which will bite you in the ass.
All abusers should not exist. They shouldn’t exist in the real world, but the reason they shouldn’t exist in Remnant is because abuse breeds resentment, fear, sadness, and hurt. Emotions that we are told would attract grimm. Why would an abuser do this if the risk of a giant murder bird coming in to eat you is likely?
Because Grimm would hunt down the people being abused and the abusers are psychopaths so they aren’t a target. Likewise, why should they abuse someone when they could get killed in their sleep? because human beings and our reality isn’t rational so why should Remannt be any more rational than our world?
Racism shouldn’t exist. Much like abusers, it really shouldn’t exist in the real world, but in this world, racism would breed resentment, fear, sadness, envy, and hatred. Why do that if doing that to an entire minority race would cause a giant armored gorilla to come by and rip you in half Mortal Kombat style?
Why would you devalue someone because of their skin color in real life? Because you’re irrational and things like that don’t apply to irrational people.
Shrinks should be more valued than Hunters. I mean, it would be better to PREVENT the grimm from coming in the first place with some good psychology rather than having a bunch of glorified exterminators kill them off? What, do these guys not understand what attracts grimm? I’d rather have my emotional issues be solved rather than have it build up so that a two-headed snake can try to digest me.
Because Grimm are only ATTRACTED to negative emotions and they’ll still attack people. Not to mention Shrinks don’t always work and people won’t always admit to having problems or needing a shrink despite the emotional problems this will cause because PEOPLE ARE NOT RATIONAL, especially the people you are explaining.
Now for the little stuff.
Which will bit you the ass even moreso. Yes, it is possible.
Cardin would have been morally right if he had just outed Jaune from the beginning. Jaune’s lack of experience and competence is not only putting himself in danger, but his whole team as well. I don’t give a shit if he’s a “Good Tactician™” or whatever, but Jaune’s lack of combat abilities would get him and his team killed sooner rather than later. Instead, Cardin bullies Jaune, which leads me back to my rant on how this would breed resentment yadda yadda yadda You know the drill by now
Of course: Everyone not Jaune right, Jaune wrong. Excluding the fact that the same can be said for Ruby and her reckelssness and her immaturity and her lack of experience and amplified by her sister Yang being around as well as her uncle and especially her father constantly worrying about them being killed like SUmmer but I don’t hear you saying that at any point.
Jaune is in the wrong for melting that stuff down to upgrade himself. Instead of going to my usual tirade though, I have a screenshot of how I perceived Jaune’s actions that’s from another post of mine here.
I also have a post I cvan reference (http://dudeblade.tumblr.com/post/163800343229/i-hate-jaune) proving any opinion you have on Jaune is disbarred due to bias against him personally and any opinion on any male characters disbarred due to sexism.
Follow-up Question: Why does nobody think about Pyrrha’s parents?
Because if they are so stupid to have lost all of their daughter’s stuff while she was gone, so selfish they sold it or so blind they didn’t think to keep anything then they don’t really deserve it.
Qrow calls his own niece either “a Liar, Crazy, or both” when she was tricked into kneecapping Mercury. Real Uncle of the year material there, Qrow. What’s next? - You use your other niece as bait for a deadly agent of Salem - Oh wait that actually happened. Why are the adults all assholes in this world?
A. He was stating teh proof that was there and there is no otehr rational explanation.
AndB. He clearly didn’t know about Tyrian. Although has a dick so it should be obvious you would try to portray as bad.
Ironwood doesn’t take Weiss into child custody. He’s seen what pressure Weiss is under in her own home. Winter has surely told him about what Jacques does to them to keep the family under his thumb. Why doesn’t he take action? - He has two seats on the council, it shouldn’t take that long, and considering that child abuse might breed negative emotions… Well, you saw my comments about abuse earlier in this post.
Except Jacques is the richest man in Mistral and there is nothing saying that Ironwood has authority over child services and if he failed, Weiss’ abuse gets worse. Also, how does Ironwood know? He has never been in the same room as when Weiss and Jacques talk, Jacques is subtly abusive in public and people don’t exactly talk upfront about this.
Ozluminati sends the drunkard whose semblance is BAD LUCK to guard a person of importance. Was Ozpin TRYING to get Amber killed? I mean, you can’t have a person with super speed to guard Amber so that if she gets in trouble, the guard can rush in to save them? You can’t have a sniper keep watch from a distance, and pick off opponents who would kill her? Why the drunkard whose semblance is the causation of bad luck to those around him?
A. Because Glynda is teaching in one of the most, Ozpin is running a school, Ironwood is running a school AND a miltary and Leo is runn9ing a school. Qrow literally has the most time.
B. Who is this person with super speed? Can they be trusted? Are they stronger than Qrow? Can a sniper be trusted and would a sniper be effective due to Aura? See, you don’t answer YOUR questions.
C. Wow Dudeblade, I thought you were critical bt you’ll take Qrow haing bad luck at face value when any evidence for this is cirtcumstantial at best? ALmost like you only do it to bitch about it.
Winter should have taken Weiss away from Jacques. Winter knows full well what her father can and will do to Weiss. Why doesn’t SHE take Weiss away from Jacques? She’s got the power to do so! She’s a legal adult, she has a high rank in the military, she can afford Weiss’ living expenses! Why can’t Winter help out her sister? Is she selfish or something?
Because Jacques is richer, more powerful in a legal systemn, could manipulate Winter since he also abused her and Winter has nio proof. You know, like how child abuse works in real life.
Why didn’t Ilia just pass “Color Change” as her semblance? - It probably wouldn’t have been that hard,and she could have offhandedly mentioned that maybe, a faunus once saved her life once when she was younger so that she could have an excuse to sympathize with them? - This makes no sense at all as to why she couldn’t have kept her cover better. For a chameleon, she does an awful job of blending in.
No, you just don’t pay attention: You cannot accidentally activate a Semblence and Illa’s color change is inherent in CHAMELOENS as a sign of EMOTION: This shit isn’t a Quirk, stop acting like it is.
Why do Raven and Qrow play the Pronoun Game? All Qrow had to say was either “Yes” or “No” to Raven’s question,and she would have answered his. But no. Mr. “I’m using my niece as bait” has to try to take the moral high ground over Raven and lecture her about ‘family’ and crap. While, y’know, USING RUBY AS BAIT!
A. You’re lying and trying to paint a MASS MURDERER as a good guy.
B. Raven was also dancing around teh subject and used her own daughter as leverage and unlike you, I can provide proof in the fact that Raven never visits Yang, outright spat in her face and only pressed Yang when she could be used to control Qrow.
C. So...why aren’t you criticizing Raven for mass murdering people and abusing her daughter? Let me guess: She has a vagina and thus your sexist ass ignores her.
RNJR doesn’t take any kind of transport to Mistral because of reasons. Despite the fact that they’re trying to get to Mistral ASAP to warn them. And since Ren and Nora decided to NOT say something like “Hey, this place is dangerous, we should find a different way around or get through as quick as we can.” Then they waste a bunch of minutes against the Nucklevee. With his stupid noodle arms, and ability to make buildings and other structures relocate themselves. Maybe that’s how it killed other, more experienced hunters. Whenever one of them found cover, Nucky would use it’s structure relocation powers and make that cover disappear.
A. https://youtu.be/IZKpkzPIRlw?t=16m42s
B. Trama nor is it shown that the Nucklevee was near by until it was heading towards Kuroyuri and they were informed about the Nucklevee.
C. ANy proof it can do that? Becuase not only is this a baseless accusation, this has no point in what you are saying. Of course, peopel could give you teh benefit of the doubt...but between your apparent sexism and you’re lying: It’s safe to assume you said this because the writer’s are male and you wanna put in Ad Hominin.
Salem only sends one goon after the dreaded “Silver-Eyed Warrior.” She has a guy who gave her a tough time when all he was doing was stalling, a person who can alter one’s perception, a bunch of other fighters, and an army of grimm at her beck and call. Goddamn villain stupidity.
A. Gee, not like they killed those so called “dreaded” warriors before...
https://youtu.be/IZKpkzPIRlw?t=3m45s
Huh, almost like you ignore facts to suit your narrative.
B.  What other fighters? Mercury and Emerald would be fucked against RNJR due to their new abilities, everyone else is doing their own work: What “fighters” are you referring to? And the Grimm? Why not wlak up to Ozpin and his allies and say “HERE”S THE TRHEAT I’M TRYING TO ELIMINATE”?
C. Yeah...this is just like getting a hold of the world’s most powerful warrior, having her in the palm of your hand and the  not doing anything Oh wait, Korra did that. ALl the fucking time. And I do believe that in Storm Hawks, Piper has let t5he main villianess go due to their bonds before.Yeah, almost like youy are setting an unaturally high bar for RWBY.
Darwin. Award.
Every single person in Remnant is gunning for a Darwin Award. Like, only our ‘main’ protagonists are somewhat smart, and even then, Blake thinks that just putting on a disguise is going to distract from the fact that she shares the same last name as a previous WF leader.
Everyone on Remnant is an idiot.
Just like our world where the examples you pull exist here. And whil;e you can point at Grimm, I can point at Dust and Aura and the three would counterbalance each other. So Remnant is no more unrealistic than our world with the same flaws and the same actions. ALmost like humans can’t remove themselves from their own experiences and being is the ENTIRE POINT OF A SHOW.
God, no wonder you suck at writing: You’re too obsessed with faulty logic.
Either that, or the writers are making this up as they go along. But that would be insulting the original writers. And we can’t be critical of people who are ‘trying.’
Yeah, lying and being sexist and being bias and setting unnatural high standards and ignoring facts is not being critical. My proof: This entire post.
One Dance
"So wait....you didn't dance at all?"
Oscar and Ruby were sitting nearby a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the city, relaxing after the very stressful day of training. The two had manage to steal themselves away from the in for just a chance to hang out (Ren and Nora were doing their own thing while Jaune and Qrow were having some private lesson). It was these moments the former farm boy adored, just getting spend time with Ruby like the average teenagers they SHOULD have been.
The stars in the night sky were just about to become visible as their talk had steered towards their school lives. While there wasn't much Oscar could offer on his side, getting to hear more about Beacon was fascinating. He may have Ozpin's soul and memories of the school, but it was listening to Ruby's stories that really made it come alive (he distinctly tried not to think about the state it was in now, the former Headmaster was pretty much the same way). And that eventually led into the talk on the dance.
Ruby shook her head, a wince followed by a smile as she went on. "Yeah, not really my thing, you know. Honestly, just being in high heels was bad. How Weiss fights with them, I'll never understand."
"That sounds like a waste to me. Back home during the festivals, my aunt would always make sure I went all out to enjoy myself. Granted, aside from school I didn't really leave the farm at all so those days were a treat for me."
She shrugged. "Well, I guess dancing has never really been all that fun for me. I always felt more comfortable swinging Crescent Rose than trying not to trip over someone's feet."
Oscar felt like laughing at that, but he kept it in. "Well, you can't spend your entire life fighting, no matter how much you enjoy it. Besides, if you think about it, fighting and dancing aren't all that different from each other. I mean, it's the only reason I've managed to keep up with the footwork Qrow has been teaching me and Jaune."
Silver eyes widened before going back to normal as Ruby. "That's funny; that's almost the exact same thing Ozpin told me back then."
Oscar laughed weakly. "Well, I guess that goes to show its good advice!"
You couldn't have come up with something better than that?
And that shifted the farm boy's attention back to the soul resting in his head. 'Oh, don't even go there. And I thought we agreed you'd stop me before I say something too much like you!'
Oh hush, that last bit was completely your own. And isn't part of the reason you've been keeping up is due to those dancing lessons of the past Wizards, specifically my direct predecessor?
Oscar almost winced at that, remembering the rather pleasant snippets of memories he had seen in his dreams of a former Wizard. Particularly of a lovely young lady with golden blonde hair and blue eyes that struck him as intimately familiar, but Ozpin never dived into too much detail about that. 'Yeah, I still can't believe the former King of Vale, the infamous Warrior King, threw himself into so many dancing lessons that he HATED simply to impress a girl. And I thought Jaune was a big dork.'
Good rule of thumb; if a young man does something stupid once, it's cause he's young and young men are not known for their prime decision making skills. If he does it more than once; it's usually to impress someone they like. Granted, it probably would have been a lot less hassling for him if he had found out sooner that she much preferred books over dancing....
It was then that reality kicked in as Ruby waved a hand over Oscar's face. "Oscar, hello? You in there?"
He was startled slightly before he smiled and apologized. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just lost in my thoughts."
"You look you got something on your mind. Want to talk about it?"
Oscar opened his mouth for a moment before deciding against it and shaking his head. "Sorry, Ruby. One day, I promise I'll tell you what's on my mind. Just not today."
Ruby smiled in understanding. "Just so long as you DO tell me."
"You'll be the first, I promise. Anyway, it seems like a waste to go to a dance and not dance."
"Well, its not like I really had much of an opportunity to learn. My dad and Uncle Qrow taught me and Yang how to fight and other things, but when it came to girly stuff we were kind of left to our own devices. Honestly, the first fashion lesson I ever got was from Weiss and she looked like she wanted to ask if I had been raised in a barn or something."
Oscar piped up then with a sly smile. "Hey, I take some offense to that!"
Ruby smiled at that. "She wasn't talking about you, you haven't even met Weiss."
"Well, your stories have already told me a lot. Still, don't you wish you could have danced back then?"
She looked down at that, rather pensive. "Well.....maybe a little. But it's not like anyone there really wanted to dance with me. I don't really....attract guys the same way Yang does, but that's okay. I really don't want to deal with that kind of attention."
The resulting quiet moments left Oscar thinking what he should say next (he could have said he very much heard otherwise from her Uncle and most of those admirers were scared off by her sister, but he decided not too). Then his mind lit up with an idea. "Hey, can I see your scroll?"
Ruby looked up at him questioningly, but got it out regardless. "Ummm....sure."
Oscar went through the Scroll, utterly grateful for Ren and Jaune's lessons on technology. "Let's see, connection here should be strong enough....now let's just see if it's on the web...."
The young huntress looked at him questioningly. "What are you looking....?"
"GOT IT!"
Nice choice, particularly for her skill level.
That shook her a little as she saw the satisfied expression on Oscar's face as he pushed a button. As soon as he did, a slow deep song began to play. Then he got up and set the phone a distance away, but turned up the volume. After that, he returned to where Ruby was, offering a hand. "Well, since you didn't get to dance back then, would you mind dancing with me now?"
That got Ruby's face to flush, a display of uncharacteristic fluster for the young huntress. "Well.....but Oscar....I....I really don't dance!"
Oscar smiled, his hand taking hers and pulling her to her feet. He then drew her close to him, the two standing cheek to cheek. "If I can fight, you can dance. Just follow my lead."
Ruby did so, smiling shyly as they slowly moved in tandem with the music playing. "Well, at least I'm not in heels."
Oscar whispered softly, smelling her unique intoxicating scent of chocolate, roses, and gunpowder. "You can step on my toes any day."
Unaware to the dancing pair, not too far away they had someone watching them.
Jaune Arc pulled out his own Scroll. This is so adorable, there is no way I am not recording this.
Wow, I actually managed to get this done. Adorable little thing, right? Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the language of dance moves. That works better visually I think.
Anyway, I'm off on my graduation trip to Disneyland, so it'll be a while. Next time will be focusing on Summer and Qrow.
(from Jaune-isms) I can't figure out how to do symbols, so I'll just say... triangle.
Five times my muse thought about kissing yours, and one time they did.
1- The warmth of the common room’s kitchen was a welcome change to the wild and wet Fall weather outside. The cake they were baking was supposed to be a secret, how better to celebrate Ren’s birthday than to cook for him for a change. Nora was on distraction duty. Despite her love of sweets, she insisted she was no good in the kitchen, leaving her and Jaune to try and navigate the intricacies of the culinary world.
Music from the radio, the warmth and smells came together pleasantly, making a rather homely atmosphere. Jaune surprised her with his proficiency.
“Well, growing up with seven sisters means seven cakes every year.” He said by way of explanation, showing her how to fold eggs into batter.
It was a nice change in pace. Jaune made a patient instructor, and explained things in a manner that didn’t make her feel stupid or overly inexperienced. Eventually, things came together and the mixture was poured into a cake tin and transferred to the oven. Closing the door, they smiled at each other in satisfaction of a job well done. Pyrrha was the first to look away, shyly trying to hide her growing blush and pounding heartbeat.
Brushing her hair out of her eyes, she froze as a hand stopped hers and a second came to her cheek. A slightly calloused hand cupped her cheek and a thumb brushed against her face. With a grin, the blonde wiped away some of the mixture that had somehow gotten there and popped it in his mouth…
2- “It’s a dare Pyrrha. You have to do it!” The shout was barely heard over the thudding music of the Junior’s club. The rules where simple. Truth or Dare, and fast, to keep the pace up.
Her emerald eyes went wide. How on Remnant was she meant to know that Ruby, sweet little Ruby, was cruel enough to dare her to do this?
It wasn’t like she didn’t want to kiss Jaune. If it was just a matter of gathering herself to do something she didn’t want to, that would have been fine, but it wasn’t, and everyone at the table knew it. Everyone except him it seemed. For once, everyone’s attention seemed focused on one thing. It was just a shame that it was on her and him.
“C’mon, hurry it up!”
Pyrrha tried to push down her embarrassment and gather her courage. It was just a game. No-one took it seriously if it was just a game… It was now or never…
“WAIT! Wait wait wait wait wait!” The red cloaked girl interrupted. “I have a better one!” Ruby jumped to her feet and pointed directly at her. “Pyrrha Nikos, I dare you to show us how well you can pole-dance!”
The silver eyed Huntress smiled triumphantly as Pyrrha tried to hide her relief. With a smirk and a wink, she set about making it a performance they wouldn’t soon forget.
3- She ducked under the sword swipe with ease, the attack being telegraphed by the tensing of Jaune’s arm and shift in his left leg. He was improving rapidly. Dust, he learned some aspects faster than she could teach them.
“That’s great. The strength behind the swing has really improved.” Without skipping a beat, she pulled back out of his reach. “Let’s try working on your charging. Footwork is important, but keeping yourself behind your shield is vital. This movement is the most easily exploited by your opponent, and it’s why a lot of fighters trying to goad their opponents into attacking by leaving false openings and weak points.”
“Until we find out what your Semblance is, and whether it can counteract that threat, that best way is to keep as much of you behind the shield as possible.” Pyrrha gave Jaune a reassuring smile, knowing how much he hated trying to find out what his semblance was. Some people simply knew the moment their Aura was unlocked. Others where less fortunate.
“Let’s give it a try. Try and advance without leaving yourself open. After that, we can try doing it at faster speeds.” Bringing her own shield up, she started picking out the weaker points in Jaune’s stance and form. As minutes went by, and they tried again and again, he improved at the same incredible rate.
“Once more!” she called, grinning with pride and enthusiasm, trying to boost both of their morales, “Try it faster and then we’ll break for a while.”
She watched his eyes analyse her stance and she felt her pride in him swell. He really was blooming into a great leader and Hunter.
His charge led to the left, away from where her shield naturally covered. It was a decent gambit, but with a spin she moved right herself, planning to continue the action and tap him on the back with the pommel of her blade.
Of at least, that was the plan.
Before she knew what was happening, Jaune lurched forward unfathomably fast. Faster than she expected, and judging from his yelp, faster than he had too.
The world whirled, and when it settled again, she was flat on her back, looking up at the cornflower blue of her partner’s widened eyes. Her heart rushed into a thundering staccato. She’d never felt more vulnerable. It was kind of exciting.
It would be so easy to lean forward…
As swiftly as it came, the moment was gone as he helped her back to her feet, ever the gentleman.
“It’s an… unsual strategy, but I suppose it works.” She giggled at Jaune’s sheepish smile. “I think we’ve both earned a break…”
4- Pitch blackness encompassed the JNPR dorm as the team’s two shield-bearer’s returned from evening practice. At first Pyrrha tried the light switch, thinking maybe Ren and Nora where off doing something to no avail.
“I wonder if it’s out for the whole block…” Pyrrha mused aloud. The lights outside provided little to navigate by. She could barely make out vague shapes in the darkness. Pulling a scroll to shed some light, Pyrrha noticed the message from Ren saying they were off to get to the bottom of things.
“Ren says they should have it sorted in an hour. There’s something wrong with the electric pylon and the repair team asked for Nora by name…”
With little else to do, she sat on the edge of her bed, playing occasionally on her Scroll when 10 minutes in companionable silence passed by. She was exhausted, and she was sure Jaune was too.
Movement caught her ear. Looking up, so could just about make out the outline of her team leader crouching at the edge of his bed. Sliding off hers, Pyrrha knelt beside him, hoping to give a bit of a surprise.
He was close. Uncomfortably close as he looked towards her. She could just about make out the clean scent of his shampoo.
The redhead bit her lip to stop herself reaching forward, and ‘accidentally’ brushing her lips against the knights as he rummaging through his suitcase.
“My sister sent some candles a while back. She thought it might help relax me, you know…”
“Here we are!” Jaune set to stumbling around the room, dotting candles around and lighting each with a match. Eventually they were alone on a tiny island of warmth and light.
Ren was true to his word, and within the hour the lights buzzed back on.
It’s a shame, Pyrrha thought as she went back to her own bed. Candlelight really does flatter him.
5- He had kept his word. A silly promise made in jest and he had kept it despite everything she had said. After the giggling and their oddly elaborate dance number, Jaune span off with her in a waltz, making her world narrow down to just her and him.
She had to smile at the ridiculousness. Like something from a romance novel, he swept in and swept her off her feet in one fell swoop.
How could you not want to kiss someone who made your heart’s dreams come true?
6- Yuletide traditions had to be upheld, so when she and Jaune found themselves under a sprig of mistletoe, there really wasn’t an option…
She was fibbing, there was always an options, but she certainly didn’t portray it that way when Jaune’s eyebrow arced as he glanced up and the small white and green plant hanging over the doorway.
Wordlessly, Pyrrha smiled her apology. Her confidence boosted by holiday cheer, she let her eyes drift downwards from the plant to her team leader. Outlined by broad shoulders and a strong chest, he may not have been the biggest built of people, but he had a dancer’s frame, not to mention eyes that could make her defenses melt instantly.
It had been a wonderful day, and she had been enjoying herself immensely, swapping gifts and giving her teammates the Yuletide they deserved. Getting into the spirit of things, she’d donned a red and white santa hat. Today was a day for wishes, but she couldn’t expect someone to be telepathic.
Slowly, she placed a hand on her partner’s hip, and seeing no resistance, slid a second below his arm and around his back. Butterflies flurried in her stomach as she non-verbally asked for his permission to keep going. Receiving a somewhat confused smile in return, Pyrrha pulled Jaune a bit closer. She had to reach up without her heels, but that didn’t stop her from softly pressing her lips to his. It was sweet, slow and deliberate, fueled with pure adoration and love. Her mind raced, asking her what on remnant she thought she was doing, but was quietened quickly. Something about the day, made her anxieties dissipate. Something about the day, about this, felt right.
Her heart trilled to find his hands at her hips and feel his lips break into a smile under her own.
Breaking the contact, Pyrrha pulled away running her hands down his arms and laced their fingers of one hand together. The second she brought between them, a single finger tapping his nose.
Who said Christmas Wishes couldn’t come true?
JNPR Headcanons (sorry, it's long)
•It’s obvious that Ren & Nora, and Jaune & Pyrrha are besties. But Ren & Jaune are bros while Nora & Pyrrha are like sisters
•Actually, the team is one family
•Edit: Everyone on this show has their own inner demons just like we do. They’re not perfect and they struggle with their own issues, team JNPR especially -Jaune really cares about what others think of him and works so hard to be a hero and lovable and kind -Nora is sort of the same way only her anxiety manifests itself as constantly moving and babbling. She really tries not to come off as a pest (& she isn’t) bc she doesn’t want anymore people leaving her (bc they always do). Sometimes the words of others effect her more than she let’s on (which leads to issues w/ her & Ren later in their relationship) -Pyrrha cares more about people seeing her for who she really is. She not a trophy that’s won. She’s not a centerpiece. She’s Pyrrha -Ren doesn’t really try to be more sociable. He knows that his quietness comes off as being shy, but those who know him know that he simply doesn’t have much to say. He does make his opinions known, though, and when he speaks more, you know that he thinks you’re trustworthy. His main issue is talking about what’s wrong. He gets so silent when he’s upset or angry. The only person that can crack him is his best friend.
•Jaune & Ren take turns being the dad (Jaune is Daddy Jaune in battle, Ren is Daddy Ren any other time)
•Pyrrha is mommy all the time
•When Jaune sees Nora, he thinks of one of his younger sisters & it makes him feel a bit less homesick
•Nora loves getting the team to do crazy shit like JNPR tattoos, sky diving, & swimming w/ Grimm sharks
•Speaking of tats -They all have a JNPR tat with juniper berries & one of their emblem -Nora has lighting bolts, boop, & a syrup bottle -Jaune has a heart with ‘Arc Family’ on it -Ren has the date of the attack on his village & Nora’s emblem -Pyrrha has ‘Destiny’ written in a flower and her kids names
•As stated before, Nora & Pyrrha’s periods sync up and their boys handle it well
•Jaune bc he has sisters who go through the same thing & Ren bc he’s been with Nora forever
•Nora likes cuddles, heat, massages, sleep, & food during that time. She’s actually kind of of quiet during that time & a little more mopey
•Pyrrha is very irritable during that time and enjoys solitude unless she’s w/ Nora
•Birds of a feather suffer together
•The dress Jaune wore is actually Coco’s
•Bets get insane, esp when RWBY, CVFY, & SSSN are involved
•They do tons of partner sparring, but they love team sparring (every man for themselves)
•Nora & Pyrrha are the most well rounded with everyone else’s weapons, Ren coming after, & Jaune is last
•Pyrrha is the first awake to run, Nora gets up no later than 7 every morning, Jaune trudges along, Ren sleeps in bc fuck mornings
•They do team studying a lot which entails quizzes with candy for those who get questions right and punishment for getting it wrong
•It’s the only way Jaune or Nora will study for anything
•Jaune & Nora aren’t dumb. Jaune genuinely doesn’t get it sometimes and gets bored in class. Nora is smart, but lazy
•Pyrrha’s favorite class is Port’s. His lectures are interesting
•Jaune’s favorite class is… probably none… he’s not doing well in any right now…
•Nora’s favorite classes are Oobleck’s (watching him zip around is fun), Peach’s (science and explosions), Goodwitch’s (fighting), & her math class
•She’s a wiz at math
•Ren enjoys Port’s and Goodwitch’s classes
•They have a system where they copy Pyrrha’s notes if they miss something (they’re detailed af)
•Pyrrha is easily scared and reacts a little violently (punching shit) and she doesn’t do supernatural shit ever
•Edit: they’re all pretty chill about hanging around the dorm in undies and bras (it took Jaune some time, though)
•Jaune & Nora are DC fans. Ren & Pyrrha are Marvel fans. All enjoy X-ray and Vav
•They totally go to comic cons, cosplay, & gaming conventions together. You cannot tell me otherwise
•Passing the aux chord isn’t normally an issue until someone (Nora and Jaune) starts playing showtunes & rapping to Hamilton
•Ren is the only one who appreciates Yang’s puns
•Jaune & Ren are skilled cooks and normally don’t allow Pyrrha or Nora to help, but they do sometimes cut veggies and stir (Nora, stop adding spices right now! Pyrrha, do you even know what oregano is?)
•Jaune loves dead memes & is still raving about deez nuts & Harambe
•The group chat on ChatSnap is a total mess & any important info gets burried under memes, selfies, and videos -Nora’s CS is mostly pictures of her team & friends -Ren’s is filled with professional photos w/ some deep caption -Pyrrha’s is clumsily trying to figure what she’s doing -Jaune has awkward selfies & recordings of Pyrrha when she’s off guard
•Sailors!!! -Nora isn’t as bad as Yang or Qrow, but she’s no saint with cursing -Ren doesn’t curse… out loud -Jaune doesn’t unless he’s irritated -You’d have to really push Pyrrha past her breaking point to get her to say fuck
•Edit: they totally have a naughty jar for swearing & making inappropriate jokes
•Edit: Nora is the go to person for charging scrolls, but is also the person to break them
•Edit: I like to think that she could be a defibrillator
•They often spend holiday break with Jaune’s family
•Ren, Nora, & Pyrrha have practically been adopted into the family
•Jaune’s older sisters work hard to get them all paired together-together
•If Pyrrha gets hurt, Jaune is worried but he’s not freaking out. He knows she can handle herself
•If Nora is hurt, Ren cannot focus & goes on a killing spree
•Jaune & Ren’s bro time is spent cooking, watching anime, or just talking
•They went to the doubles round during their 2nd year at Beacon -Nora & Pyr the first year
•They mostly enjoy video games! -Jaune is more into games like Myth of Welda, Remnant Bound, Underneath Remnant tale (totally uncreative), & trivia games -Pyrrha likes the games at the arcade where you shoot stuff & party games (Xario Cart, Xario Partee, and Xario and Tonic at the Extremely Hard & Profesional Games) -Nora likes anything violent (esp GTA) -Ren doesn’t play very often, but is a God at rhythm/dance games (with Nora, those two are unbeatable & always get a perfect score)
•Drinking -Nora is energetic, a little destructive after a few, & cannot hold her liquor -Pyrrha is seductive af, but she rarely gets that far. Only once or twice -Jaune is sleepier & clingy -Ren very rarely drinks & can hold it exceedingly well
•Team bonding is normally spent watching a movie with pizza and cookies, bowling, arcades, or going out to dinner
•All team activities are classified as a double date when they’re dating
•Renora dated first, then Arkos
•There was a brief period where Nora actually broke up with Ren & Pyrrha was with her while Ren was with Jaune until they figured things out (I may write something on it later)
•However, it was Arkos that got married first
•The team are maids of honor & best men at each other’s weddings
•Pyrrha laced her bouquet with metal to control where it landed after she threw it (Nora “caught” it) -Ren proposed soon after in a quieter place
•If the couples argue, one normally goes to the other couple’s house to vent and cool down before going home
•Renora had 3 kids: Kensley, Ming, & Iman (adopted)
•Arkos had twins Louise & Eros
•Before the kids came, they went on team missions very often. After they’re all out of the house, they start again
•They also go on partner missions & swap who goes with who each time (Jaune/Nora, Ren/Pyrrha, couples, guys, girls)
•They often go on family vacations together & celebrate holidays because they’re one big family
•Pyrrha & Nora retire to teach at Signal
•Jaune & Ren join them soon afterwards
Mechanic 10: The invasion
Pyrrha was up bright and early, as always. However, for once she wasn't thrilled to be going on a mission. Normally Pyrrha would be glad to have the chance to help others, especially since they were going to be shadowing a professional hunter. Still, she really wished she would have been able to train with Jaune over the weekend. They hadn't messaged each other other than to offer thanks for dance, and Pyrrha hoped there wouldn't be a weird atmosphere hanging around when they finally had the chance to meet up again. After all, she had sort of... kissed him. Her face flushed red at the mere thought of it.
It was the first time she had taken any steps like that with someone, even if it was just a kiss on the cheek. The thought of it made her giddy, a fact which didn't escape Nora or Jane when they saw her start smiling randomly. Still, she knew she had to get her head in the game.
They were going to be going on a dangerous mission, out in the field for real. She couldn't let her school girl crush distract her, or someone could end up like Jaune did. Besides, physical exercise might be just the thing she needs to get her head on straight again.
Pyrrha began to gather the last bits of her stuff to finish packing for the mission. They had to travel light, but she wanted to make sure she wasn't missing anything they would need. After all, proper preparation is important. That's why she checked her scroll often of course, to make sure she didn't miss any important messages. Not that she had been expecting one. Of course she wasn't.
Before long, the rest of her team was up and getting psyched for the mission, which helped serve to get Pyrrha focused again. Jane was once again fretting over the prospect of the mission, though Pyrrha noticed she seemed more prepared to go on a life threatening adventure, than she was to attend a simple dance. Ren and Nora seemed particularly interested about heading out to the village, so Pyrrha was glad their team was able to do something so important for the pair of childhood friends.
Once they were all packed and ready, they headed off to their airship. Team RWBY had left before hand, and they had already said their goodbyes so it was a quiet send off. As they were loading in the ship though, Pyrrha's stomach dropped.
Sirens.
There were warning sirens coming from Vale. Her mind instantly went to Jaune, and the little shop she had grown very fond of. She turned to Jane, but Jane was already apologizing to Ren. Promising to visit the village later, while she stepped up to take charge, and ordered the pilot of the airship to take them to Vale.
Pyrrha beamed at her partner before she loaded in the airship. As they raced through the air, Pyrrha's leg bounced up and down nervously. Surely Jaune would be okay right? After all, his family was with him now. Plus, even if only a little, they had trained a few times by this point. She figured assuming he didn't go looking for trouble that he could hold off whatever threat could find him. After all a siren meant the entire city would be in danger, which meant that there would be an appropriate response. He wasn't on his own this time. Pyrrha tried to call him on her scroll, but there was no answer. She wasn't surprised, if the siren was going off even if Jaune was fine, there certainly was enough going on to distract him from answering his scroll.
Her thoughts started to spiral downwards into worry until Jane placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“Relax. We'll be there soon. There are plenty of hunters that live in Vale, and Beacon is nearby. Whatever threat there is will be dealt with swiftly.” She said with a knowing smile.
Pyrrha nodded thankfully as she drew her weapons, watching the airship land.
Team JNPR hopped out of the ship, already sprinting towards the center of town. They figured that'd be the best place to start searching.
“Grimm?” Ren said in surprise as they saw huntsmen battling with Grimm.
“How did they get so far into the city?” Nora followed up.
“I'm not sure. But we need to protect the civilians. Follow me!” Jane ordered as she ran forward, leaping before she brought down her greatsword, bisecting a Beowulf in half.
Pyrrha followed after her, swiftly cutting through grimm.
Nora paused for a moment. “The sirens seem to be coming from the town square.”
Jane nodded. “I agree. Pyrrha, give Nora a boost. We'll follow after her. Let them know we're on our way Nora.” She commanded.
Pyrrha nodded and knelt down, as Nora jumped, and launched herself off Pyrrha's shield. A few more shots in mid air and Nora was flying through the air as the rest of her team ran after her. Pyrrha felt her nerves starting to go into overdrive at seeing all the grimm around them as they fought their way to the square. “I'm taking a shortcut, I'll meet you there.” Pyrrha said as she jumped up, kicking off her shield mid air with her semblance as she landed on a low rooftop, pulling her shield back towards her as she took off in a sprint towards the town square. She fired a few shots off at Grimm, seeing that they were surrounding team RWBY. Just how did team RWBY always find themselves in the middle of all this trouble?
Jumping off the building, she landed next to Nora as Jane and Ren finally caught up. Soon they were all fighting in the center, against the hordes of grimm. They seemed to be centered around this area. Noticing the giant hole in the ground, Pyrrha realized this wasn't a natural accident. Someone must have set this up. She didn't have time to dwell on those thoughts though as the grimm pressed their attack.
Before long though, reinforcements had arrived. Team CFVY showed up, as well as Atlas's militia. Pyrrha let out a sigh of relief. They were only able to help so many people themselves.
Still, she knew she wouldn't be able to relax until she saw him for herself.
Glancing over at Jane, she was surprised to see Jane already nodding.
“Ren, Nora. Pyrrha and I are going to check on Jaune since this area is under control. You two go east, look for stragglers. Stay together, and stay in touch. We'll meet up after we make sure that area is safe.” Jane said as everyone nodded, and took off sprinting.
Pyrrha pushed herself as she ran, knowing Jaune's luck. Still, he had his family right? He couldn't be hurt. Not with how strong Alice is.
Pyrrha had made short work of a spare grimm or two on the way, but the are seemed to be safe for the most part.
Turning the corner, Pyrrha felt her stomach drop again.
There were two Boarbatusks approaching the alleyway that Jaune's shop was in, and there was the growling of an Ursa coming from down there. Pyrrha launched her spear, impaling a borbatusk through the weak spot in the armor on it's back, as Jane landed from above, stabbing straight through the other one.
As Pyrrha ran to retrieve her weapon, she saw Jaune in the corner, facing off against a massive Ursa with his sword and shield. Huddled behind him were two small children. Judging by the sets of dog ears, they were fannus children.
“Huagghhh!” Jaune roared out as he stepped forward, swinging his sword. His slashes were still a little chaotic, but Pyrrha recognized the pattern. It was one they had been drilling very hard. Simple, but strong. Most of them seemed to get through, but the Ursa's massive paw slammed into Jaune's side, bringing him down to a knee.
Pyrrha ripped her spear free of  the Boarbatusk as she ran to the corner. Jane joined her, but before Jane could dash down the alley, Pyrrha stopped her. “Wait.”
Jaune just let out another scream of defiance as he forced himself to his feet, swinging again as he chipped away at the Ursa.
The Ursa let out a roar went leaned back for a wide swing as Jaune stepped forward with a determined look.
The scene seemed to play out in front of Pyrrha before it happened. Jaune's swing would be too slow, the Ursa would hit first.
Pyrrha's hand raised as it glowed black. Focusing, she raised Jaune's shield. He had dropped his guard a little too much when he went for the big swing, but as his shield glowed black, it raised up.
The Ursa's paw struck the shield, sliding off it as it lurched forward, trapped by it's own momentum.
Jaune planted his foot, bracing himself from the sheer weight of the Ursa. Recognizing a chance when one was presented, summoning every bit of strength he had, he swung upwards.
His blade sliced clean through the weakened Ursa's head as it fell off to the side, beginning to disintegrate.
Jaune stumbled backwards, breathing heavily as the Ursa fell backwards. Suddenly the two Fannus children threw themselves at Jaune, wrapping their arms around his waist as they cried into his sweatshirt.
Jane let out a sigh of relief. “He seems to be unhurt. Though it's a good thing you helped him. We should let him know what happened.”
Pyrrha glanced over at Jaune, seeing him grinning triumphantly as he gently patted the kid's on the head as he reassured them.
“We could... Or perhaps we could keep it our little secret?” She said with a smile, as she stepped back, before taking a few steps and running around the corner, running up to Jaune.
“Jaune! Are you okay?” She asked, her still very real concern dripping through her voice. She wasn't sure how long he had been fighting before she arrived.
Jaune looked up. “Pyrrha! You're okay! Yeah, I'm fine.”
Pyrrha just let out a sigh of relief. “I'm so glad. I saw you fight that Ursa, it seems your lessons are paying off.”
Jaune nodded. “I can't thank you enough. It's because of your teaching that I was able to save these two.” He said, gesturing to the two kids still clutching onto him tightly.
Pyrrha just smiled and walked over, gently patting he head on the little boy. “That's why we are huntsmen after all.”
There was another roar as a massive snake head turned the corner.
“King Taijitu.” Pyrrha said, eyes widened as she drew her weapons again, taking a defensive stance next to Jane in front of Jaune as the second head appeared. Fighting that in such a small alley was going to be impossible. Especially while protecting Jaune and the kids. Sure Jaune had managed to beat the Ursa, but it only took a glance to see how tired he was, and Pyrrha doubted his Aura would be able to last for another hit.
Feeling determination well up in her, she was about to reach for her scroll when she heard it. A loud piercing sharp whistle from right behind her. The volume of it made her wince slightly, Jaune really could whistle loud. A second later, a similar whistle echoed from somewhere nearby.
Jane glanced over her shoulder, trying to figure out what his deal was when Jaune stared at her, already dropping to a knee as he covered both of the kids with his body. “GET DOWN!” He ordered suddenly.
Both Pyrrha and Jane trusted Jaune, so in a second they dropped to the ground.
The king Taijitu roared, but before either head could move, the white one shot to the ground with such blinding speed that the ground shook from the impact. Pyrrha's eyes widened as the smell of Ozone reached her nose. Barely a moment later the King Taijitu erupted into electricity as it let out a roar of pain.
Alice landed a moment later as she pulled her spear from the head of the snake, her piercing gaze staring at Jaune, as if she was taking notice of every scratch on him. She did not look happy. She hopped off the snake as she began to walk towards Jaune, until the other head of the snake roared up. It was still alive.
“Look out!” Pyrrha called out, getting ready to run forward, until Jaune reached out and grabbed her hand.
“Wait.”
Alice just casually walked towards Jaune, her gaze slowly going from angry to concerned.
The snake lurched forward, before it's head suddenly exploded, a quarter of the body missing.
Pyrrha's jaw dropped at the sight. Alice hadn't done anything, none of them had moved. What could have...
Pyrrha felt a chill rack down her spine as she stared at the figure standing next to where the snake's head had previously been. An overwhelming power stood there, the murderous intent dwarfing Alice's making hers look like a temper tantrum. The figure was oozing with power. The gaze focus on Pyrrha and Pyrrha's guard snapped to attention, feeling a brief pang of fear for her life.
Then, it was gone. All signs of danger was gone as the woman ran towards them.
Pyrrha's eyes widened in shock as she ran towards them. In a moment both Jane and Pyrrha had been pulled into a tight hug by Jaune's mom.
“Oh thank the heavens for you two! Did you help out Jaune just now? I see he has Crocea Mors. We must have missed one or two. I'm so glad you are here. Are you girls unharmed?” She asked, her voice dripping with sweetness and warmth.
Jane was still too terrified to speak as Pyrrha nodded a bit meekly. “We uh came to check on him. There had been some Grimm on the way but Jaune held his own against an Ursa when we got here.” Pyrrha explained. She glanced back at Jaune, her eyes flicking to his mom as if to say 'Really?'.
Jaune just offered a sheepish smile, raising his hands as he shrugged. Alice had to learn it from somewhere after all.
Pyrrha just let out a deep breath, finally able to get air in her lungs once she was finally released from the bear hug Jaune's mother hand pulled her into.
Alice through her arm around Jaune as she pulled him close, letting out a sigh of relief. “At least you're fine this time. It seems Pyrrha's lessons are paying off, eh? Good thing you remembered the signal though. That coulda been bad.” She offered, looking at the corpse of the snake that was slowly dissolving.
The massive snake corpse was suddenly lifted as it was thrown farther down the street as Jaune's dad walked down the alley, brushing dirt off his hands. “Seems I wasn't needed here.” He said with a hearty laugh as he pulled his wife in, kissing her on the cheek.
Jaune's mother moved over and knelt in front of the two fannus children. “There there. Were you scared? Thank you for being so brave.” She said with a warm smile.
The two children nodded, before clinging onto her in a tight hug.
Pyrrha just smiled at seeing the mother act so warm. It was a stark contrast to the persona she had when she arrived on the scene. Pyrrha realized, she really had to make sure she didn't do anything to turn Jaune's family against her.
“Good kids. Now, why don't you go with Jaune? He will take you to find your parents.” She said, shooting Jaune a glance.
A few minutes later and Jaune was walking down the street, each of the kids holding onto one of his hands. They each were sucking on a lollipop Jaune's mother had given them. Pyrrha just smiled, looking at Jane and snickering at seeing Jaune with the kids. He seemed like a natural with them, and Pyrrha had to admit that was an attractive trait. Then again, since he grew up with younger siblings, she guessed he had some practice with kids.
As they rounded the corner back to the main square, they saw it was mostly cleaned up. Glynda had been fixing all the broken bits rather efficiently.
The rest of team RWBY and team JNPR saw Pyrrha and her group arrive, and ran over. Nora and Yang rushed over and were kneeling in front of the kids, both rather fond of kids. Soon they were laughing at playing with them while Weiss and Ren went to go talk to the officers, hoping to find the parents of the kids.
Blake stood by, looking curiously. “Where did you find these kids?” She asked, smiling at seeing her partner and Nora playing with the fannus children, seemingly not even caring about their differences.
“Jaune saved them. When I found him he was fighting off an Ursa to protect them.” Pyrrha bragged a bit, incredibly proud of her friend.
Blake looked at Jaune with a new sense of approval. She had always seen Jaune as nice, but for him to risk his life for Fannus children really showed him in a new light to her. She placed a hand on his shoulder, smiling. “That was very brave of you. I'm sure they appreciate it.” She said.
Jaune just blushed. “Oh stop. It wasn't much.” He said, getting all bashful at the praise.
Blake and Pyrrha just looked at each other, laughing slightly.
Pyrrha was aware that Blake was a fannus, and could guess how much the act had meant to Blake. Jaune wasn't aware of it, but Blake figured she might let him know soon enough, she realized she could trust him.
Before long Weiss and Ren returned, with two concerned looking parents in tow. They ran up, until they saw the kids getting piggy back rides from Yang and Nora. They just let out a sigh of relief. They quickly made their way to Jaune, showering him in thanks.
When the attack happened, they had been separated and they had told the kids to run and hide to stay safe since they couldn't get around the Grimm. They had been looking for them since the attack ended, but didn't have any luck in the large city.
Pyrrha smiled softly as she watched Jaune's face as he rejected their offers of compensation. She knew the battle he had fought had been small, but it was an important one. More importantly, she could see the man she knew he could grow into.
Soon the parents were walking away with the kids, waving goodbye and promising the kids that they could stop by the shop again.
Before long everyone was returning to beacon. Pyrrha offered to walk Jaune back to the shop, so she told her team she'd meet up with him later. Ignoring the glances and Yang's joke, she just blushed and walked away with Jaune.
“So, now that that is all over. Are you sure you're okay? That was a large Ursa.” Pyrrha asked a bit nervously.
Jaune just brushed her off. “Don't worry, I'm fine! I still had my Aura, a good nights rest and I'll be back to normal!” He said, pumping a fist as he tried to reassure her.
Pyrrha just laughed, lacing her hands behind her back. “Glad to hear it. So how did you end up there anyway? Why would your parents and sister leave you alone?” She asked a bit hesitantly, wondering how a family so protective of their son and brother would leave him alone during an attack.
Jaune just sighed. “It wasn't easy as you said.” He stopped walking for a moment, causing Pyrrha to stop and turn to look at him curiously.
“It's just... they're huntsmen you know? Even if my mom and dad are retired, they're huntsmen. People were being attacked out there. I don't know what happened, but a city full of Grimm is a danger. I couldn't let them just babysit me when people could be dying. I convinced them to leave and help the city while I stayed in the shop. It was the only way to ease their worries.” He said, obviously looking a little glum about feeling like a burden to them.
Pyrrha nodded her head. “I can imagine that could be difficult to accept. Staying still when there is danger out there, but rushing out could cause more trouble.” She realized what her words sounded like. “But you really were a hero. You saved those kids.”
Smiling softly, Jaune shook his head. “I understand. I was staying put in the shop, I wasn't going to look for trouble. But I saw the kids running down the alley and I couldn't sit still. I only saw the Ursa with them so I figured I could take care of it.” He started to explain.
“I would have just brought them into the shop to hide, but I don't think a wooden door would be enough to stop an Ursa. I needed to fight.” He defended himself.
Pyrrha thought for a moment before putting a comforting hand on his shoulder. “I understand. I think you made the right choice in that situation, Jaune. There are times when we all need to fight, regardless of the challenge in front of us. We can't afford to let it pass us by.”
Jaune smiled, obviously relieved that Pyrrha wasn't mad at him. “The whistle is the emergency signal my family has. If someone makes it, the rest of the family runs no questions asked. I didn't want to worry them if it was just the Ursa so I tried to beat him myself. I would have called to save the kids if I thought I couldn't do it though. I was even about to. I guess I got lucky.” He said, looking away.
Pyrrha felt a fist clench around her heart. “It wasn't just luck Jaune. You've worked so hard recently. Every step of progress you've made is from your hard work.” She paused, looking into his eyes for a moment. “That's what I admire about you Jaune. You work so hard, even when you have so little help. You're not afraid of taking on challenges that scare you. That's why you are a hero to those kids. That's why I am so blessed to be able to call you my friend.” She admitted, ignoring the blush that crept on her cheeks.
Jaune just stared at her, the words she just said soaking in. Pyrrha just looked away, and started to walk back towards the shop. She nearly stopped when she felt Jaune's hand grab hers as he walked next to her.
She glanced over, but Jaune was just looking ahead, wearing a matching blush to herself.
They approached the alleyway in silence, though neither was particularly willing to break it.
Soon they were standing outside the shop door, still holding hands. Pyrrha was about to let go whens he felt Jaune squeeze her hand gently.
“Thank you Pyrrha.” He said softly. “Thank you for coming to check on me. Thank you for training me. Thank you for being my friend.” He said, looking at her earnestly. “You're the reason I've started to change, and you're the reason I will continue to fight. Next time, I don't want you to have to worry about me. I want to have your back.” He said with a warm smile.
Pyrrha felt a fire in her chest as she stared at the boy in front of her. Ever so slowly she started to move forward, her face inches from his, until she jumped as she heard the door slam open.
“Jaune? You back yet? Mom wants to know exactly what happened and I-” Alice said, peaking out.
She saw Jaune and Pyrrha standing hand in hand, their faces inches from each other. Her eyes widened. “Oh my god. I'm so sorry.” She said, remorse dripping from her voice. “Pretend I never came out.” She started to close the door when Pyrrha jumped back.
“No, no. It's okay! I should be getting back to Beacon soon anyway. I just wanted to see Jaune home.”
She said, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.
Jaune blushed as he looked away, giving Alice a helpless look.
Dropping to her knees, Alice just slammed her fist on the ground. “I am so sorry. I ruined it. Ugh. Bia is going to kill me.” She said desperately. She looked at Pyrrha, begging for forgiveness. “I'm so sorry. I should have checked.”
Pyrrha just blushed red, playing with her hair. “I have no idea what you mean! We were just... saying goodbye.”
“Yeah!” Jaune added, unconvincingly.
A minute later Jaune's mom reemerged, carrying two boxes. “Who are you talking to? Is Jaune home yet?” Her mom looked at the scene, noticing the blush on her son and Pyrrha. She glanced at Alice. “Is she?” Alice just nodded.  “And you just... when they were?” She asked again. Alice nodded her head again, mortified.
“Alice Ramona Arc. How could you be so careless?” She started to scold her, Alice looking down in shame.
Pyrrha was as red as her hair. She really had no idea how to deal with Jaune's family, and from the look of it, Jaune didn't either.
Alice's mother walked over, handing Pyrrha the two boxes. She rested a hand on her shoulder comfortingly. “I'm so sorry for my daughter. I thought we taught her better manners. Maybe next time.”
Pyrrha just stammered, and blushed harder. “I have no idea what you mean ma'am.”
Jaune's mother just waved her hand dismissively. “Sure sure. Inside those boxes are some pies. It was all I was able to whip up in the short time you were gone, but I figure your team and that team RWBY deserve a snack after how hard you all worked today.” She said with a smile.
Pyrrha smiled. “Thank you Ma'am.”
She just shook her head. “It was Jaune's idea. He said you students have grown quite fond of them. I see Jaune has enthralled more people with his cooking.” She said with a proud laugh.
Smiling Pyrrha nodded. “He does seem to know his way around the kitchen.”
“Mother! Pyrrha has to get back before it's too late.” Jaune said, trying to recover any dignity in this situation. He began to try and push her back towards the shop.
Pyrrha just laughed. “I should be going now. Thank you very much for the pies. I'll let you know when I can come over next for training.” She said to Jaune with a smirk.
Finally having ushered his mother and sister inside, he turned to her smiling. “I look forward to it. Thank you again for earlier. Also, be safe getting back!” He said, waving goodbye to her one last time.
Pyrrha nodded, before stumbling a bit as she tried to adjust her grip on the boxes.
Jaune moved closer, ready to catch them when he was surprised as Pyrrha leaned in.
It was over in a moment, but another kiss to his cheek left his face flushing red. “P-Pyrrha!”
“Goodbye Jaune!” She called out as she turned and quickly made her way from the shop, hiding her blushing face as she laughed to herself.
“G-Goodbye Pyrrha!” She heard him call after a moment, before hearing him already scolding his mother and sister by the time the door to the shop closed and muffled his voice.
As Pyrrha walked back, she knew she had to lose the blush before she could face her team or team RWBY. She really only had known Jaune for a rather short time since coming to Beacon, but she could already begin to see the fruit of his training. She could see him growing, but she could also feel something in herself growing as well. She knew, with every meeting she had with Jaune, she realized just how much he belonged in her life. She just hoped, she just prayed, that he felt the same way about her.
Pyrrha hugged the boxes closer as she smiled. She was excited for her next adventure with Jaune, and excited to see where they they would end up going together in this life.
