And out of all the ways I love you
— prompts based on the different types of love
Philia — affectionate love: write about the shared love between two people as friends, or in the beginning stages of their relationship. A platonic friendship that is both meaningful and sweet, and one that sets the foundation for growth in the future.
Ludus — flirtatious, playful love: write about two people seeing love as a desire to want to have fun with each other, to do activities with each other; teasing, indulging and playing harmless pranks on each other.
Eros — romantic, passionate love: write about the passionate love between two people; they explore each other physically and emotionally, each others likes and dislikes, what makes the other tick. Delve into their phase of intimacy and romance.
Pragma — committed, practical love: write about how two people assist each other in life, be it running errands for each other, doing chores etc. Two people who want to find value in their partners, and ultimately find satisfaction in reaching a common, practical goal.
Storge — familial love: write about their growth from being a couple to a family unit; this builds upon their initial platonic friendship, and morphs into a committed, anchoring love, especially through times of hardship.
Philautia — self love: write about how two people, though a couple, respect each other's space for self care, and self love. This helps them to grow as individuals, and helps with their self esteem and confidence.
Agape — altruistic, selfless love: write about the sacrificial love each person has for the other; it is a more emotionally mature love where groundedness comes into play, rather than being guided by their emotions and their hearts.

ᴛʏᴘᴇs ᴏғ 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 ɪɴ ᴀɴᴄɪᴇɴᴛ ɢʀᴇᴇᴄᴇ
Ancient Greeks divided love in different categories due to their need to classify and give a name to everything. They had eight different types of love:
’αγάπη (agapē): unconditional love, mental, sometimes it can be not reciprocated
φιλία (philia): affection between friends, parents
ερως (érōs): physical love, it's about the sexual aspect; something that cannot be satiated (it doesn't necessarily have to be satisfied)
αντέρως (antérōs): reciprocated love, there’s a bond
’ιμεροσ (hī́meros): unstoppable love (it must be satisfied)
πόθος (póthos): desire (imaginary, dreamed)
στοργή (storgḗ): tender love, sweet (family love)
θέλημα (thélēma): devotion (love for what you do)
Let me know if you like this type of post and if you want me to do more.

As someone who fit in the aro/ace spectrum I keep forgetting how allo people see the world. And I keep just... don't understanding when they summarize love in romantic love.
I'm like you do know there's more than one type of love, right? But the romantic just seems so important for them.
I'm not saying romantic love is not important but like...
Sqq loved lbh from the beginning.
I think mostly people who say, that he doesn't love lbh, is alloromantic. Cause they only look for the romantic love and sexual attraction. For mostly of allo I think that love=attraction and romance.
Another example. Ranwan love for each other move aspects of the story. But why this love have to be romantic? Considering the censored adaptation for example, a non romantic love between shizun and disciple still can move the story as in the novel. Cause not just the romantic type of love that can do sacrifice. Ofc we want to see their romance, but when comes to their love moving the story. Don't necessarily need be the romantic type.
Once in topic I gotta say that one thing that mostly bothered me in 2ha, is Meatbun basically saying: "romantic love need have attraction" What we know is not true, what lead me again, to question allo people vision of love. Romantic or not.
I'm not judging, just saying that I don't understand see love like this.
Don't mind me, I'm just rambling.

To me, a huge part of aro culture is having unique personal labels for each of my friends. Sure, I’ll refer to them as a “friend” if talking about them to a stranger, but that’s not their primary label in my head. They’re my editor, my artist, my rival, my wise elder, my writing partner, my teddy bear, my gamer buddy, my theatre daughter, my plucky shonen voice child, my surrogate younger sibling, my older brother who moved off to college and now every once and a while we catch up and reminisce.
My friends all fill a unique role in my ecosystem and very rarely do their roles overlap. One couldn’t replace another.

Writing with Shiomun: Love
I have noticed, in my time writing and reading the writing of others, a pervasive trend to conflate “love” with “romance”. I know that the best cure for this kind of misconception and conflation is education - so I am going to write about different kinds of love, using concepts I learned many years ago, derived from ancient Greek. A disclaimer: While I learned this and have done my best to research the information I am talking about, I am not an expert, and I could be incorrect - I am willing to be corrected and would love to see any material that contradicts me - I want to be educated myself, if I have misconceptions!
The types of love I am going to talk about today are Eros, Pragma, Ludus, Agape, Philia,  Philautia, Storge, and Mania.
Eros
Eros is erotic love, physical love.
Eros is the craving to have your hands on their body, their mouth on yours, entwined, close.
Eros is "I desire you as in physically."
In FFXIV, a representation of Eros is Haurchefant, towards the Warrior of Light.
Tumblr media
“I say, be my personal steed!”
Pragma
Pragma is practical love, enduring love.
Pragma is waking up, every day, and making love work. It's the long marriage, the steady lifelong commitment.
Pragma is "I desire you in my life every day."
In FFXIV, a representation of Pragma is Ameliance, towards Fourchenault.
Tumblr media
“Thus, did I pull them out of storage - to show you that he was not always the man who stands in vehement opposition to you now.”
Ludus
Ludus is playful love, flirtatious love.
Ludus is wanting to have fun with people, to laugh with them, play games, share experiences.
Ludus is “I desire you have fun with me.”
In FFXIV, a representation of Ludus is Feo Ul, towards the Warrior of Light.
Tumblr media
“Burn bright and shine as only you can. These blessings, your lovely branch will accept in your stead.”
Agape
Agape is universal love, selfless love.
It's the love for all living things by default, the abiding affection for the world because of the fact of its existence.
Agape is "I desire the world be happy."
In FFXIV, a representation of Agape is Venat, towards everybody.
Tumblr media
“And amidst it all a people. Beacons of light and life. Laughter that warmed my heart like naught else before. They are my meaning and my purpose. My love.”
Philia
Philia is friendly love, companionly love.
It's your best friend who you'd never in a million years date but couldn't imagine your life without.
Philia is "I desire you stick around, my friend."
In FFXIV, a representation of Philia is Ardbert, towards the Warrior of Light.
Tumblr media
“For what it's worth, I cast my lot with yours. If you need a push, I'll be right there behind you; if you lose control, I'll do my best to stop you. So─let us be about it, hero.”
Philautia
Philautia is love of the self.
It is to look inwards and see that you are as valid of love as anybody else.
It is self-compassion and self-esteem.
Philautia is "I desire that I be happy and cared for, by myself most of all."
In FFXIV, a representation of Philautia is Fray, towards the Warrior of Light.
Tumblr media
“For I speak only for myself. If you find comfort in my words, they are yours for the taking, but that is your choice. Now and ever after, as it has always been.”
Storge
Storge is familiar love.
It is to look at your kith and kin and want them to flourish. It is gratefulness for them transposed into love.
Storge is "I desire you flourish for all you have done for me."
In FFXIV, a representation of Storge is Matoya, towards Y’shtola.
Tumblr media
“It's good to see you again, my girl, and with your fiery spirit unquenched. But look at you - all grown up and womanly.”
Mania
Mania is crazed love, obsessed love.
It is the where things like codependency and toxic relationships live. It is also where obsession and jealousy live.
Mania is "I desire to possess you, no matter the pain."
In FFXIV, a representation of Mania is Asahi, towards Zenos.
Tumblr media
“My lord was destined to lead us unto a glorious new age. Your light is nothing to his radiance.”

Friendships seen as something of less value than romantic relationships
I've always said this and I'll say it again, friendship isn't something "less" than a relationship and it shouldn't be viewed that way. I'm SO SICK of society's view on friendship and how it gets treated both in real life and on social media.
When it comes to family love, you don't say you love your family less than your romantic partner, you simply say that it's a different type of love, which it is, then why do so when it comes to your friends?
First of all, friendship love and romantic love are two completely different things, therefore they can't and shouldn't be compared. Let's not bring one type of love down in order to bring the other up.
Second of all, the sentence "he's more to me than just a friend" you just said about a person you have a crush on and barely ever talked to made you sound REALLY ungrateful. Why would they be "more than a friend"? Are they even your friend to begin with? What did they do to even get such a mark, what more could they possibly give you than your loyal friend who was by your side and let you cry on their shoulder for the past six years?
You either never had a genuine best friend who you loved, or you are way too obsessed with romance.
Seeing a healthy friendship and immediately assuming they are in love
This is also a weird thing a lot of people do, why would a person be in love with their best friend for writing an essay on how much they love and appreciate them? Or why would you even try to convince them that they are? Who are you to say that? You really think you understand their feelings better than the person who is feeling them? Let's normalize being grateful for your friends, shall we.
Friends elaborate on their platonic feelings for each other and yet people still laugh it off with "you will know in no time", "that's what they all say", "just kiss already" like what? How are you so ignorant? These two people just respectfully explained to you what they feel for each other and you are still forcing your romance ideals into them. Actual real people. Are you not considering the fact you might be making them feel really uncomfortable right now? Just stop and think.
Let's try this example of disrespect on another type of love, would you try to tell a couple "wow you are such good friends"? You wouldn't, right? Because they told you once they are a couple, so since they cleared it up for you, there's no need to keep telling them they are good friends, they would look at you weirdly if you did. Then why do that to two friends? It's also an unpleasant feeling to be told all the time that you and your best friend are in romantic love when it's not true, there are types of love, trying to prove to other people which one of them they are feeling for each other is disrespectful to say the least.
Strangers -> lovers & Friends -> lovers
I'm aware that two friends can become romantic partners later on, there's nothing wrong with that, but that still doesn't prove me wrong in what I'm trying to say. If two people love each other platonically and it's mutual, both knowing they aren't developing any romantic feelings, then you should respect it and shut up. You are not involved, why do you care so much?
When you and your friend fall in love and start dating, you can say you are friends and romantic partners, or just romantic partners, whatever you prefer. When you fall in love with a person before you even get the chance to be their friend and straight up start dating, I'd see you as romantic partners, without the friends label. Me personally, I think friendships are really important, you need your romantic partner to be also your friend, if they are not, you are most likely to break up later.
-
So yeah, that would be it, thanks for listening to my rant. Sometimes I just get angry and need to share my opinions.
All types of love are important and feel nice, making one seem better than the other is just illogical. Please appreciate everyone you love. Family, friends, partners and pets, they all make you happy and together make your life worth living, be grateful for them.
