the sheer amount of angst potential in carmen sandiego is INSANE

like. they’re fighting against a criminal organization that is so secret and covert, literally nobody knows about it (except ACME but they’ve been trying to find them for 20 years and turned up with nothing, so without Carmen’s intervention they probably never would have defeated them), but its roots are in LITERALLY every country. there are canonically VILE operatives that run nations and supercompanies. like. when you really get into it, VILE is ASTRONOMICALLY powerful. and the only people who both know about it and can actively fight against it are a handful of teenagers.

also like. the mindwiping thing??!!? it’s a kid’s show so it wasn’t really explored in depth but the implications are HORRIFYING. if they can wipe someone’s mind, they can completely rewrite a personality, or create sleeper agents left and right. they could kidnap random people off the streets, brainwash them, and then have an army of drones with the drop of a keyword. they manipulate and train their operatives to steal and kill without remorse or hesitation, and honestly the only reason why all the main characters made it through the show alive and unscathed was because of the rating because if it was a tv-14 or tv-ma rating, there’s no way everyone would have survived that shit

i think like. what also gets me about the way that adam & michael's dynamic is portrayed in the show is the fact that, so often, in the face of toxic familial dynamics, the focus tends to be on the child and the ways in which they are able to break the cycle of generational abuse. i can't think of another example where the piece of media actually deconstructs generational abuse in a way that puts the focus on both the parent and the child and allows both to grow and overcome, in this case, the toxic masculinity that permeates their relationship and get to a point where a resolution is not only possible but heavily signalled by the narrative itself ( in this case the writing has been on the wall since s3 that the show is gearing up for a resolution between these two. i am thrilled that it's happening but it's also not a big surprise and is one of the s4 storylines that has been easiest to predict ).

if a child has a shitty parent the story is often about how they escape/overcome/grow from that trauma and find a family of their own, not necessarily blood-related. but it just thrills me so much to see a story where it's not just adam who is allowed to process his generational trauma, but we are given an insight into michael and where that generational trauma comes from. michael gets to open up to jean about his own brother and father during a therapy session, he gets to discover cooking as something that brings him genuine joy in his life and he gets to stand up to his brother about the bullying that he faced as a child. i just looove this storyline so so much and it's the one that i probably have the most faith in the writers in terms of pulling off a conclusion.

nah because not only did will survive the upside down for a week, he was constantly close by to the demogorgon throughout that week. whenever he communicated with joyce through the lights or other electronics, the demogorgon would always come. the first time with the phone, we hear will breathing and then the growling of the demogorgon before the phone subsequently explodes (same with the second time). the first time he talked to her through the lights and stereo the demogorgon almost came out of the wall. when holly followed the lights the same thing happened. then when he told joyce to run the demogorgon came out for real. and then when will opens up that window between dimensions in the wall the demogorgon comes after him. now you mean to tell me he just simply ran every time and survived? nah. not to mention after the first time the demogorgon almost comes out of the wall in will’s room and joyce runs, should I stay or should I go starts playing on the stereo again, showing that will was still there. he was literally with the demogorgon in the same place at the same time. in all these examples, will and the demogorgon were so close, way too close, and will always stuck around the general vicinity. jonathan said he’s good at hiding and yet, will was hiding in his house most of the time he was there. and the demogorgon kept repeatedly coming back to the house. so obviously it knew will was there. but why only come when will was contacting the upside world? was this somehow alerting the demogorgon/vecna? joyce was never bleeding in any of those scenes either, so why come after her? pls explain
