My blind son was jailed for being at the scene of a murder. Halt this tide of joint enterprise convictions
From the article;
'Jordan had an eye condition called keratoconus that was so severe he was scheduled for transplant surgery in both eyes. Given that my son could not have seen the altercation, or run away from it, and did not come into contact with the victim, I assumed it was a no-brainer that he would be let off.
The prosecutor, Michael Chambers QC, thought differently. He wanted all five of the boys who had been charged to be prosecuted under joint enterprise, a 300-year-old common law doctrine, which was controversially brought back into use under the guise of prosecuting gang violence. Instead, it has led to innocent people – many young, working-class and black and minority ethnic boys – facing mandatory life sentences for crimes committed by others, as was the case for Jordan and so many others like him.'

I found this a while back but I just wanted to share this for people who haven't seen it
No Tax for Genocide
This is a great resource! Thank you so much for sharing this. For folks living in the UK, please take a look if you already haven't seen this/haven't made the pledge:
"It is a criminal offence in this country to pay tax if any of it is used to fund genocide, murder or any criminal activity as per the 1945 UN Charter, Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, Terrorism Act 2000 and The Nuremberg Code." "We will take direct action when we receive 100,000 pledges from members of the public ~ removing £700 million from the government war machine." "Our team of experts have determined that British taxpayers can legally withhold taxation through a clear mechanism we will set out for you. Millions of people in this country want an end to the killing - are you ready to make your voice heard?"

UK ruling sheds renewed light on justice for the Yazidi’s
youtube
The UK has now formally acknowledged that genocide was committed against the Yazidi people in 2014. The UK ruling follows Germany, who found a Daesh fighter guilty of acts of genocide and crimes against humanity.
"We have made the historic acknowledgement that acts of genocide were committed against the Yazidi people. This determination only strengthens our commitment to ensuring that they receive the compensation owed to them and are able to access meaningful justice."
In 2015, the AMAR Foundation launched 'Escaping Darkness' - the first specialized mental health service for Yazidi women. This 2015 video also demonstrates AMAR's efforts within Iraq’s displacement camps, for those Yazidis who were brutally displaced by IS.
For more information on the AMAR Foundation’s work with Iraq’s Yazidi community, please contact AMAR on 0207 799 2217. You can also direct any questions to @AMARLondon on Twitter or make a donation here.

101 Things You Should Know About the UK Tory Government
Thing 5
Brandon Lewis is Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice.  At the very least we should expect our Justice Secretary to abide by the law. Not so!
Boris Johnson’s not so “oven-ready" deal for Brexit has never adequately dealt with the Northern Ireland question. In consequence, Boris Johnson decided to break his own agreement, thereby breaching the ministerial code of conduct and international law.
Sycophantic Lewis, then Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, was forced to defend Johnson in Parliament. When asked if the government was intending to break international law he confessed:
“I would say to that yes this does break international law in a very specific and limited way.”
That’s all right then. Heaven forbid we should have a Justice Secretary who is prepared to break the law in an unlimited and indiscriminate way.
No wonder it has been said that “not even his most generous friends would describe (him) as particularly bright.”  (Guardian: 08.09.22.)

"Prison Reformer Knows Much Crime," Kingston Whig-Standard. June 28, 1933. Page 11. ---- Sir Ernley Blackwell Retires as Adviser to British Home Office ---- LONDON- Sir Ernley Blackwell, prison reformer and police authority, has retired from his position as Legal Assistant-Under-Secretary to the Home Office, he having reached the age limit of 65 years.
It is said that no man in the United Kingdom is possessed of a greater knowledge into the mind of the criminal or has so extensive a knowledge of the methods of the criminal fraternity than Sir Ernley. Despite a stern demeanor, he has been a genuine friend to the criminal trying to make good, but to the hardened criminal who makes his living by crime he has proved a positive terror.
He has spent many anxious hours at the Home Office reading and considering petitions from convicted murderers and other criminals, for it was his duty to advise the Home Secretary on points arising on these matters. Every petition for many years past has gone through his hands. Born at St. Andrews in 1868, he was called to the Bar at the Inner Temple in 1892. He became Assistant Under Secretary of State in 1906, and Legal Assistant Under Secretary to the Home Office in 1913.
