I didn’t want to sillypost on @eternityboxes’ earthsea quotes post but i immediately need to share this mental image of a fantasy SPCA sticker that came to me fully formed. Completely different vibe than Tenar’s line, sorry

Everyone—even the poor, even the lazy, even the undesirable—can matter. Do you see how just the idea of this provokes utter rage in some? That is the infection defending itself . . . because if enough of us believe a thing is possible, then it becomes so. And then? Who knows. War, maybe. The fire of fever and the purging scourge. No one wants that, but is not the alternative to lie helpless, spotty and blistered and heaving, until we all die? So don’t walk away. The child needs you, too, don’t you see? You also have to fight for her, now that you know she exists, or walking away is meaningless.

Steering the Craft by UKLG: Being Gorgeous
I'm only posting the ones i think came out ok or at least cute. This one is meant to sound childish and playful, messing around with aural quality.
Exercise 1: Write a paragraph to a page of narrative that's meant to be read aloud. Use onomatopoeia, alliteration, repetition, rhythmic effects, made-up words or names, dialect-- any kind of sound effect you like-- but NOT rhyme or meter.
The tiny fishbowl world is glittery and glows with the gluberring bubbler, pockets of pretty diamond air bathing us up and up till we’ve all breathed our share. With water all around, streams of upward oxygen, it is the inverted waterfall which keeps us iridescent and incandescent and resplendent, except for the one who is pale and fades, the one who is convalescent.
She was once a bulbous lady, yellow like goldenrod or goldilocks or marigolds or goldfinch or canaries or butterflies or buttercups, but her belly is stopped up full of worms, green and black ones that hang out of her butt and make her swell up like a yeast roll, and now even the bubbler can’t make her colors sing. She is cranky and mean, swiping and swirling up a slurry of tears. She makes us hide in our castles and temples; we duck into the caves and hope she doesn’t see us!
She slithers through the water, casts a wide circumference on the rocks and grasses, the penumbra of our despair! When she finds us, we will flee! We will go so far as the walls of our fishbowl world! We will crash smack ping into our glass mirror borders! We will feel her on our tails, the trail of her worms like flags hanging off of bike handles. We will turn and turn, twist and twist, flip and flip, until she tires and floats near the inverted waterfall, hoping to catch some diamonds on her back.

when scholar laurence davis said in his essay about open-ended utopian politics that If the dominant form of utopian narrative is a timeless monument to euclidean reason then the dispossessed is a mighty wave of imagination in the ocean of time, on the crest of which we are all buoyed up and provided with a glimpse of the farther shore

I think in a filmed adaptation of The Dispossessed you’d have to make some concessions to ‘uncomfortable to act through a face full of spirit glue’ but I wouldn’t want to do this. Hairy Cetians forever.
