Wunderwaffen

Çizgiroman okumayı ve çizgiroman dükkanlarını gezmeyi çok severim. Yine bu gezmelerden birisinde raflarda WUNDERWAFFEN adlı dergi boyu bir çizgiromana rastladım. Alfa Yayınları tarafından Türkçeye çevrilmiş ve basılmıştı. Eski nesil uçakları sevdiğim için sayfalarındaki görseller ilgimi çekmişti. Çizgiromanın çizilme tarihi 2011. Bu nedenle dehşet bir taraviri kolleksiyonuna sahip dostumdan yardım istedim ve elindeki taraviri malzemeyi edindim. Kolleksiyonun biraz eksikleri olmasına rağmen seri hakkında fikir edinmemi sağlamıştı.

Serinin yazarı Richard D. Nolane. 1955 doğumlu Fransız yazar-çizer.

Dergi Fransız Soleil Yayıncılığın çalışması. Bu ekip “ikinci dünya savaşı bu şekilde bitmeseydi bugün neler yaşardık” senaryosunun pek çok versiyonuna çalışmış. Ekipte ana çizim MAZA’ya ait. Ancak ilginç bir şekilde Sırp kökenli çizerlerin desteği yoğun. Jovan Ukropina, Zeljko Vladetic, Desimir Miljic, Desko, Marko Nikolic.

Digikore Studios çizimleri renklendirmiş. Bu stüdyo grafik renklendirme, VFX üzerine grafik animasyon stüdyosu. Çizgi roman, bilgisayar oyunları ve film görsel efektleri üzerine çalışıyor. VFX üzerine çalışan ekibin hemen hepsi Hintli. Jumanji, Stranger Things, Transformars, Titanic 3D, Vortex, Expandables, Ninja Turtles, Need for Speed, Hayalet Sürücü, Deadpool gibi pek çok sinema filminde çalışmış. Wunderwaffen’de Ana çizer olarak MAZA adı geçiyor ve bazı çizgiroman sitelerinde 1924 doğumlu Kübalı sanatçı Heriberto Maza olduğu yazılıyor. Soleil Yayıncılığın sayfasında MAZA nın kim olduğu konusu muallakta bırakılmış. Azıcık karıştırınca bu çizerin 1965 Bosna-Hersek doğumlu MAZA olduğu ortaya çıkıyor. Yine de asıl adını bulamadım.

Serinin yaratıcısı Nolane ve Maza’nın dünyasında  takvim 1946 yılında durmuş. Normandiya çıkarması başarısızlığa uğramış. Savaş havada sürüyor. Almanların güç uğruna savaş teknolojisinde başlattığı yarışa Amerikalılar, ucundan Fransızlar ve bozguncu olarak İngilizler katılıyor.

Maza’nın havacılık terminolojisi, uçaklar, uçuş tarihi, uçuş teknolojileri konusunda oldukça kapsamlı bir bilgisi var. Uçak modellerini çok iyi yansıtmış. Savaş sahneleri göz alıcı.    

Ağırlıklı olarak savaş sanayinde ortaya çıkan fantastik denemeleri, devamlılığı olmayan veya üstü örtülmüş çalışmaları göz önüne çıkartan bir öyküleme. Wunderwaffen tarihi değiştirebilecek konseptlere ve uçak tasarımlarını inceleyen, havacılık temalı bir dizi olarak tasarlanmış.

What if

Eğer böyle olmasaydı, zamanın akışı nasıl olurdu çeşitlemesinin Nazi Almanyası ve Hitler karakteri üzerindeki örneklerinden birisi. Nazi Almanyasının bütün karakterleri (Gobbels, Goering, Hesse vd) her macerada boy gösteriyor. Askeri olarak Alman ordusu, araçlar, rütbeler, olay kurgusu çok iyi çalışılmış. Sonra da gerçek zaman akışı Normandiya çıkartmasında kırılarak “eğer ollmasaydı ne olurdu” senaryosu yazılmış.

Bu seri ile ilgili pek çok eleştiri var. Nazi propagandası yaptıkları iddia ediliyor. Seriyi oluşturan ekibin ağırlıklı Sırp kökenli olması şüpheleri arttırıyor. Nazi Almanyasının görkemi, kudreti, gücü resimlerde yansıtılıyor.

Ancak komplo teorilerini kıran bir durum söz konusu. O da bütün görsel Nazi ihtişamına karşın, öykü senaryosu, anlatılanlar, kahramanların konuşmaları bu etkiyi köreltiyor ve başka tarafa akıtıyor. Ciddi bir sistem eleştirisi var, Hitler saplantılı bir ruh hastası olarak kimlikleniyor, Hitler, Himmler’in kuklası halinde, etrafındaki herkes güç sarhoşu ve kişisel çıkarlar peşinde. Diğer taraftan Amerikan, İngiliz ve Fransız başkanları ve diğer siyasetçilerin kirliliği, çıkarcılığı, sahtekarlığı, kumpasları epeyce ortaya dökülmüş. Churchill’in entrikaları, Amerikan Başkanı Lindberg’in Hitler özentisi güç yönetimi epeyce kurcalanmış. Bir tek De Goulle hakkında yandan çarklı yaklaşımlar var.  Malum dergi Fransız kökenli. O kadar da olsun.

Seride Nazi Almanyasının askeri teknolojide yaptığı gizli çalışmalar senaryonun taşıyıcı parçası olmuş.

Ben okuduğum kadarıyla ilginç buldum. Hatta bazı tarihi olaylar hakkında hatırlatmalar iyi oldu. 

Teknolojinin NİYE insanları yok ederken bu kadar ilerleyebildiğini yeniden fark ederek hafifçe ürperdim.

October 31 - Halloween

Halloween is a modern international holiday dating back to the traditions of the ancient Celts of Ireland and Scotland, whose history began on the territory of modern Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is celebrated every year on October 31, on the eve of All Saints' Day. Halloween is traditionally celebrated in Western Europe and America, although it is not an official day off.

The prototype of Halloween most likely originated with the appearance of the Celtic pagan festival of Samhain, which was associated with death and the supernatural. Around the XVI century, there was a tradition of begging for sweets at night on October 31. Children and adults put on cloth masks and walked from one door to another, demanding treats and small shawls from the owners. The custom of wearing role-playing costumes and carrying a "Jack's lamp" appeared only at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries, and in exchange for money or food, it was initially necessary to offer various entertainments.

One of the most famous attributes of Halloween is a pumpkin lantern, or Jack's lamp. It is a hollow pumpkin, on which a sinister grimace is carved, and a candle is placed inside. It was believed that such a fruit, left on All Saints' Day near the house, would drive away evil spirits and other evil spirits from it.

Jack's lamp represents "a soul not accepted into heaven or hell." There is such a legend associated with him:

On the way home, the drunk Jack met the Devil, but he managed to trick him around his finger - he asked the unclean to climb a tree for fruit, and as soon as he perched on the spreading crown, Jack scratched a cross on the trunk, thus captivating the Devil and bargaining for privileges for himself. Having spent his life in drunkenness and sin, Jack could not get to heaven after death. According to this promise, the Devil also did not take Jack to hell, but only threw him a piece of coal from the hellfire. That cold night, Jack put a smoldering ember in an empty turnip so that it wouldn't die out. Since then, he has been wandering the earth, unable to find a place for himself.

Hollywood, 1938. Alors que l’Allemagne nazie vient d’envahir les Sudètes, Hedy Lamarr recherche une jeune actrice qui aurait elle aussi des pouvoirs exceptionnels. Ainsi commence ce deuxième tome de V-Girls, intitulé L’Armée cauchemardesque.

Autant le premier nous avait lancé au cœur de l’action, autant celui-ci prend un peu de temps pour nous expliquer de quoi il s’agit. Ou, à tout le moins, essayer: les protagonistes semblent être pas mal en retard sur les occultistes nazis, qui eux-mêmes ont du mal à maîtriser les forces qu’ils invoquent.

Le point capital, c’est la confirmation que le cinéma est le vecteur principal des pouvoirs invoqués à travers des actrices. Et, aux noms de Georges Méliès, Fritz Lang, Leni Riefenstahl et Luis Buñuel, s’ajoutent ceux de Guernica.

On voit également apparaître Dashiel Hammett, l’auteur et scénariste (notamment du Faucon Maltais) et Frances Farmer. Et, oui, comme je le pensais, Einstein est cité.

Si j’avais accueilli le premier tome de V-Girls avec un intérêt piqué de perplexité, ce deuxième épisode ne fait pas grand-chose pour dissiper la perplexité.

Le côté uchronie pulp/dieselpunk n’est toujours pas réellement expliqué et l’aspect « guerre secrète occulte » s’égare quelque peu dans les détails et les ramifications secondaires.

Si j’étais médisant, je dirais que c’est un défaut récurrent dans les scénarios de Jean-Pierre Pécau. Disons que ce n’est pas toujours aussi marqué que dans cette série. Ça aurait sans doute été moins gênant s’il y avait eu plus d’action.

Ce qui me gêne plus, dans ce tome, c’est le trait de Jovan Ukropina. Pour les personnages, ça va, mais les véhicules ressemblent souvent à rien. C’est déjà gênant pour les véhicules « uchroniques », mais pour l’attaque sur Guernica, les avions censément historiques sont complètement aux fraises.

L’un dans l’autre, ce deuxième tome de V-Girls reste cependant correct. J’avoue que je suis un chouïa échaudé par les uchronies sur la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale depuis Wunderwaffen, mais on n’en est pas encore à ce point.

Cela dit, j’attends la suite avec un poil moins de bienveillance.

Stingy Jack

As the story goes, several centuries ago amongst myriad towns and villages in Ireland, there lived a drunkard known as "Stingy Jack". Jack was known throughout the land as a deceiver, manipulator and an otherwise dreg of society. On a fateful night, Satan overheard the tale of Jack's evil deeds and silver tongue. Unconvinced (and envious) of the rumours, the devil went to find out for himself whether or not Jack lived up to his vile reputation.

Typical of Jack, he was drunk and wandering through the countryside at night when he came upon a body on his cobblestone path. The body with an eerie grimace on its face turned out to be Satan. Jack realized somberly this was his end; Satan had finally come to collect his malevolent soul. So Jack made a last request: he asked Satan to let him drink ale before he departed to Hades. Finding no reason not to acquiesce the request, Satan took Jack to the local pub and supplied him with many alcoholic beverages. Upon quenching his thirst, Jack asked Satan to pay the tab on the ale, much to Satan's surprise. Jack convinced Satan to metamorphose into a silver coin with which to pay the bartender. Satan did so, impressed upon by Jack's unyielding nefarious tactics. Shrewdly, Jack stuck the now transmogrified Satan (coin) into his pocket, which also contained a crucifix. The crucifix's presence kept Satan from escaping his form. This coerced Satan to agree to Jack's demand: in exchange for Satan's freedom, he had to spare Jack's soul for ten years.

Ten years later to the date when Jack originally struck his deal, he naturally found himself once again in Satan's presence. Jack happened upon Satan in the same setting as before and he seemingly accepted it was his time to go to Hades for good. As Satan prepared to take him to hell, Jack asked if he could have one apple to feed his starving belly. Foolishly Satan once again agreed to this request. As Satan climbed up the branches of a nearby apple tree, Jack surrounded its base with crucifixes. Satan, frustrated at the fact that he had been entrapped again, demanded his release. As Jack did before, he made a demand: that his soul never be taken by Satan into Hades. Satan agreed and was set free.

Eventually the drinking took its toll on Jack and he died, Jack's soul prepared to enter Heaven through the gates of St. Peter, but he was stopped. And Jack was told by God that because of his sinful lifestyle of deceitfulness and drinking, he was not allowed into Heaven. Jack then went down to the Gates of Hell and begged for admission into underworld. Satan, fulfilling his obligation to Jack, could not take his soul. To warn others, he gave Jack an ember, marking him a denizen of the netherworld. From that day on until eternity's end, Jack is doomed to roam the world between the planes of good and evil, with only an ember inside a hollowed turnip ("turnip" actually referring to a large rutabaga) to light his way.
