Short manga if the "person who gave Hajime a neat gift" mentioned in a friendship event with Makoto and Shuichi in UTDP was Chiaki.

(I just noticed an important thing: the English version seems to be missing the fact that Hajime was "in his friend's room". So note Makoto and Shuichi's reactions are based on the fact that Hajime was alone with Chiaki in her room. )

Hi I need to talk about a UTDP interaction because my brain won’t stop putting it at the forefront of my mind.

So, like, Kazuichi and Taka really are mirrors of each other, huh- HEAR ME OUT!

So Kazuichi and Taka have this interaction where Taka stops Kazuichi (presumably in the halls) and gets on Kazuichi’s case for how he dresses.

From how they talk to each other, this seems like a regular interaction for them, which is pretty funny in all honesty. It feels so very Taka to harp on these kinds of things constantly.

And the interaction is pretty funny and lighthearted like this... until we get to this point:

The tone turns fairly serious here, and the choice of dialogue should ring a bell for those familiar with Kazuichi’s FTEs.

For those unfamiliar, Kazuichi has some deeply ingrained trust issues that correlate to how he dresses.

After being betrayed by a close friend, Kazuichi changed himself to keep people away from him. He doesn’t want to be betrayed again, and that’s very important to his character. We even see this in how quickly he turns on Hajime in chapter 4. He’s scared of trusting people.

It can be very easy to assume that he was a lot like Taka growing up: smart, responsible, gullible, etc.

The biggest difference between the two is that Kazuichi had a friend. And depending on how you view Kazuichi’s family life based on his FTEs, it can also be thought that Taka had a more healthy dynamic with his father.

So with this all being considered, can it be considered that Kazuichi sees his old self in Taka? I certainly think so.

All of this is to say that this is an incredibly interesting dynamic that I need more of.

Debunking lies spread by Kaito, Shuichi and/or Saimota Haters (#1)

Analysis time! Hello everyone! I’m thinking of making this a thing of debunking lies that haters spread. I will post these sporadically, but will update with a link to next posts when I make them. I wanted to start this with something I’ve seen a lot, recently and in the past, about Kaito and Saimota. So here we go: So people love to pick apart every single little thing Kaito says. To claim he's toxic. To claim he's not good for Shuichi, etc. And there's this one line he says in Salmon Mode if you take him on a date and he enjoys it.  People will claim this is very toxic, of course because in abusive relationships, we all know how abusive partners slowly distance you from your friends so you only belong to them. However, I find it hilarious how Kaito does exactly the OPPOSITE of this throughtout the ENTIRE game, yet just because he said this one line, people will claim he's toxic.

Throughout the game Kaito helped Shuichi and Maki learn they can rely on others, that they aren't alone. He gave them confidence and brought everyone together throughout the game. I'm not saying he "fixed" or did "everything" for Shuichi and Maki, but he definitely helped them a lot, and I think it's ridiculous to think he did that for selfish reasons, when he sacrificed himself for everyone in the end.

And here’s with Maki

Kaito is a walking contradiction. He's socially awkward for more surprising that may seem. All he does is always speak from the heart, but it's clear all the time in the game how many things he says just constantly contradict each other. For example, how he constantly says "men shouldn't apologise so easily" yet he doesn't treat women differently, he does tell the same thing to Kaede in chapter 1, that she shouldn't apologise for something that's not her fault. NOT TO MENTION, how constantly Kaito apologises in the game, and elyvorg here on tumblr, made a post counting how many times the characters apologised in the game, and Kaito is on the top 3 of characters that most apologises in the game (for those that claim like he's toxic bc he would "never" apologise, yeah right).

It is indeed true that some things he says may be rooted in toxic masculinity, there's no doubt about that, he grew up with his grandparents, so that's even more likely, but it's clear that he says many things without thinking and he just wants the best for everyone. As you can see here below, even in UTDP, Kaito is constantly mentioning and bringing his friends together. He never isolates them and actually encourages them to hang out with each other. I think it's seriously messed up how people claim Kaito to be toxic for one stupid line that does not actually describe who Kaito really is and what he really does.

This is very, very late, but I finally finished something like a manga as a birthday celebration for Hajime today. Wow, I don't want to believe that 2024 is already 6 days past 😭

There's a lot to add, so please check below before reading:

Only characters from SDR2 appear in the story, but the world line is Ultimate Talent Development Plan from NDRV3.

The story is based on Hajime's Winter Event dialog with Kazuichi and Fuyuhiko, and Nagito's Winter Event dialog with Hajime. If you haven't seen these or don't remember the details, you might not be able to understand what they're about, so you might want to check out the transcripts on the fandom wiki:

The story is based on the canon that the 77th class is throwing a birthday party for Hajime, plus my headcanon that they go to Hatsumoude (初詣/the first visit of the year to a shrine) before the party because January 1st is the best day to go.

Nagito tries to figure out how to act as a "friend".  Hajime is happy to see such a change in his attitude. (I tagged komahina just in case, but this is almost just a friendship-type story).

The depiction of Hatsumoude may not be so accurate. I drew them based on my hope that it would be something like this. (I've only been to Hatsumoude 3 times...)

one hilarious thing about the UTDP/Summer Camp universe

and i'll talk more about it when we get to Monokuma and Junko's entries in the Database...

this makes no sense because Jin is and as far as we know, has been:

so anyway Monokuma enrolls in Hope's Peak as a student:

and, though a little more independent than in the main timeline(s), still belongs to Junko:

you could chalk this up to the Writers trying to make sense of about three conflicting narratives at once or you can do what i do and pretend Junko gave her glorious furry son false memories for the lol lmaos.

Monokoomer thinks he's this big important guy. he is just Junko's self-insert fursona that no one likes. i almost feel Sorry for him...and wonder about Jin Kirigiri's ongoing negligence in this timeline (but is that really so different from the main timeline? we just have Shuichi now)
