There were 5 remaining slots for Smash Bros Ultimate DLC characters when I drew this, and I chose 2 characters that I would like for each slot.
1: Jibanyan or Professor Layton
2: King Boo or Spike
3: Paper Mario & Luigi or Geno
4: Neku or 9-Volt
5: Adeleine or Golett
•Jibanyan would transform between the different forms of Nyan including Benimaru, Thornyan, Badinyan, and Jetnyan for his attacks.
•Layton would use fencing, traps, and his inventions.
•I already shared my Spike and King Boo movesets a while back on my Instagram @MoltenGarnet_Art.
•Paper Mario and Luigi would be like Ice climbers or Pokemon Trainer, involving team attacks like super star saga or the paper flipping between the two characters for different attack types.
•Geno would play like mario rpg.
•Neku would utilize his pin powers and partners, with the fusion pin being his final smash.
•9-Volt would use the ultra hand for grabs, his skateboard for mobility/smash attacks, and nintendo systems/references for specials.
•Adeleine would draw kirby enemies for her attacks and use ink like inkling, Ribbon would help her for aerial attacks and recoveries.
•Golett is on this list because there are no Gen 5, ghost, or ground Pokemon in the game. He would have an EXP meter and evolve when it reaches the highest point into Golurk. I can imagine him doing Shadow Sneak for cool evasive punches and using his thrusters for recovery.

aside from sending the ultras from The Land of Light in bulk (im too lazy to submmit them all individually but they include such fan favorites as Zero, Taro, Man, and UltraSeven), i've also sent in kengo from fourze (spoiler warned ofc), Dark Zagi and Ultraman Nexus (not from TLOL), Tiga (also not TLOL), the worms from kabuto, and Ultra Nyan for shits and giggles. i wish ultra nyan was translated so we all could enjoy the show together...

So let’s see what the next license-holder of the Ultraman series gets to release
Assuming that Mill Creek doesn’t renew their contract, the next company to pick it up has more than a few series to release, over and above trying improved releases of the ones they already did:
The new series after R/B; Taiga, Z, Trigger and Decker
The three Ultra Galaxy Fight series, either as three releases or a nice box set
Depending on the deal they make, they might even be able to secure the rights to the next series, Blazar (final spelling TBD) and the next UGF series, including the soon to premiere Ultraman Regulos.
Ultra-Nyan - if they went for Ultraman Kids, I see no reason not to go for this pair of films.
If they could get the rights worked out (I’ve heard a few stories on who owns what) I’d even buy a fresh copy of Ultraman USA, AKA Ultraman The Adventure Begins, the animated film they did with Hanna-Barbera..
I still think there’d be a market for the Not-Quite-Ultras series that got a retro-revamp in the Zero Chronicle, Mirrorman, Fireman and Jumborg Ace. And I would absolutely drop coin on the Andro Melos and Redman.
I’d love to see the two UltraSeven sequel series, the first from from 1999 and Evolution from 2002.
There’s a bunch of short movies and specials like Ultraman Story featuring the young Taro that I’d love to see.
Then there’s the other stuff they’re producing for Tsuburaya Imagination that would serve well as additional material on various releases, if not discs all to themselves.
Personally, I hope Tsuburaya goes with someone else if others step up to compete for it. Mill Creek’s releases have been...acceptable. The Blu-Rays of the original Showa series were quite good, based mostly on the fact that the prints they were giver were positively pristine.
But as they switched to DVD for the more recent releases, the quality started to drop. I’m not as much a stickler about the compression; it’s more about the stuff they decided not to include..
They chose not to translate various segments of series here and there, like Spark Doll Theater on Ginga. Special/extra episodes are ignored. I would have loved to see them include the alternate version of the Cosmos movie, made during the brief period where the star was accused of criminal acts (and was utterly exonerated).
Even on the Nexus release, they chose to skip the two “director’s cut” episodes, as well as the director’s cut of the Next movie.
They could have gone to the trouble of translating the post-credit break banners (do thet have a real name?) since they went to the trouble of including them.
If the next folks chose to re-release the series with better treatment and more included material, I would happily re-purchase them.

Costume ideas for Halloween 2018: Ultraman
Up next for costume suggestion ideas are ones that hail from the Fandom of Light and the outer depths of space.
Ultra Nyan
Yeah, Yeah, you know I had to start with this one. But can you blame me? He is such a cute widdle kitteh!
Now, there are several ways to approach the idea of Ultra Nyan:
First is the mascot costume method, making a suit like the mascot used at the now defunct Ultraman Land theme park. There are plenty of online suppliers to help in this endeavor, just google “Custom Mascot Costume” or “White Cat Mascot” to find a base template and modify from there using existing images, some carefully placed red clothing dye and a custom tail attachment and a button on the chest to finish it.
Carry a plush. You could go dressed as a Japanese student such as Nyan’s owner Haruka (albeit a bit older) and make a custom homemade plush of Ultra Nyan to carry around in a basket, in a backpack or in your arms.
Catgirl maid. For hardcore otaku fans, one possible option is a Ultra Nyan maid outfit. Make a dress with the red and white patterns, get some red and white neko ears, a neko tail, a custom wig or hairdo and custom color timer and tail parts for the costume.
Dress up your kitty! Depending on the temperament of your pet, this could go well or very badly. But make a little costume using string and fabric and then show how cute he/she looks to all the trick or treaters who come to your door! Also, pro-pet costume safety tip, never use costume paint! That could make your cat sick or suffer badly due to skin irritation, not to mention it would be very hard if not impossible to get off.
Ultra Kaiju Girls
A spin-off of Ultraman, Ultra Kaiju Girls asks the weird question of what if Kaiju from that series were revived as cute humanoid high school girls. There are certainly a lot of options to chose from: King Joe, Zetton, Gomora, Eleking etc.
I suggest if this be your choice to research the spin-off material such as the anime, the translated manga by Seven Seas Entertainment and promotional art for designs. Search the lore of the Ultra Series and let your imagination run wild! Find your inner kaiju!
Super Fighter Ultras
Ultraman Mebius (equipped w/ Phoenix Armor)
Once upon a time in the 1990s, Ultraman tried to ride the wave of popularity of Dragon Ball Z by doing a similar shonen action approach in a spin-off manga and OVA. It was called Ultraman: Super Fighter Legend and its premise was that Ultras could now enhance thier powers with special battle suits (so a sort of precursor to Ultraman X). You’ll need: a pre-made Ultraman suit, sculpting tools or 3D molds, paint, LEDs and circuits and other assorted materials.
Don Shine
Ultraman Geed’s favorite superhero show character, an homage to heroes like Kamen Rider.
Here is a sample cosplay outfit online, which you can either attempt to buy or use the images to give you a general guideline of what goes where during assembly. Alternatively, you could make some style changes such as creating a Showa style or early Heisei era style suit variant or even a female version. Hmm...a Dawn Shine, would be more Pretty Cure than Rider based on how that sounds.

For those not in the mood for arts and crafts and want a quick toku costume for a party, here is a good solution. Due to Ultraman Mebius having a presence in the west, cosplay stores are all but too happy to provide an outfit for you at semi-reasonable prices. Just remember the measurement sizing differences of East and West before purchase and be careful where you buy.

Something found on Pinterest, and its not a bad idea! Credit to creator Willaim Knowles.
The MCU’s Ant-Man was designed with Ultraman as a noted influence, so that begs the question of what would have happened if another Marvel MCU hero took inspiration from Japan’s most celebrated kaiju busting superhero.
Some have done mash-ups of Kamen Rider with Cap (I’ve even seen one such cosplay up close at Japan World Heroes 1), but who is to say other J-hero designs couldn’t work for the Sentinel of Liberty? There are plenty of designs that can make an Ultra-fied version of Steve Rogers work.
Free Possible Example: Mix elements of Gridman Sigma, Ultraman Chuck, (Or Scott), Tiga and a stylized variant of X’s Cyber Bemstar Arm Shield and you will have a prize winning costume!
