This wasn't the first, uh, iteration of the design, the first one was literally just me throwing stuff at the screen in a bad doodle and making EVERYTHING GLOW like crazy ! It's not good, but tbh those glowy bits are pretty cool i think.

Why Takashi Iizuka hates Hyper Sonic and Super Emeralds so much?

"Hate" is probably a strong word. Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean you have to classify his feelings as "hatred."

I have a feeling he's just trying to stop power creep. If you have Super Sonic as the ultimate power, and then you introduce a newer, more ultimate power, then it just keeps going up and up and up and up.

Great Ape. Kaio Ken. Super Saiyan. Super Saiyan 2. Super Saiyan 3. Super Saiyan God. Super Saiyan Blue. Perfected Super Saiyan Blue. Super Saiyan Blue Kaio Ken. Super Saiyan Rosé. Ultra Instinct ~Sign~. Mastered Ultra Instinct. Ultra Ego.

You go down that road and it never ends. There will always be a new form. Even the Archie comics fell in to this trap: they claimed that, beyond Hyper Sonic, there was insane garbage like Solar Sonic, Polar Sonic, Eco Sonic, all the way up to "Ultra Sonic."

Ultra Sonic's deal was supposed to be controlling matter at the atomic level, which I guess is why he has atoms swirling around him or whatever.

By stopping that, and capping it off at just Super Sonic, it keeps the lore and branding consistent. It makes sure things don't get out of control or bogged down with new macguffins to find or forms to keep track of, and it makes sure that Super Sonic is always the ultimate power. Nothing is more powerful than Super Sonic, and when something is more powerful than Super Sonic, it feels like a legitimate threat.

There is no treadmill of "Goku trains and achieves a new power." What works for Dragon Ball does not have to work for Sonic.

Food for thought:

Fleetaway, Dark Sonic, Hyper Sonic, Werehog, Darkspine, Excalibur, Ultra Sonic and Super Sonic all coexist within Sonics head when they're not actually manifested in a physical form

and they all have different ideas, takes, preferences, etc, etc that clash which can cause a lot of discord within Sonic during things that should be easy, example:

"Do you want coffee or tea?"

"Tea."

"Coffees better!"

"You're both wrong, he should ask for Sprite."

"You little insignificant-!"

"I'll just have a cup of water, thanks."
