SWI- TIE Ghost

While Kess initially used a TIE Interceptor, after transferring to Task Force 56 he put in a request to Captain Adaso for a prototype fighter craft he helped develop back on Umbara. As with the Umbaran mobile heavy cannon, the Empire also attempted to reverse engineer the Umbaran Zenuas 33 starfighter which proved a daunting task even with the assistance of the fighter’s producer Ghost Armaments. As a result only a single squadron of prototypes were developed before the project was shut down following the Nightswan incident above the planet. Nonetheless Kess was able to procure one of the prototype fighters and with the help of the ship’s engineer Noli, he’s been able to keep it in working order and modify it as necessary. Officially logged as the “Sienar-Zenuas 34 Imperial Production Model” (or SZ-34 IPM), it possesses a unique chassis that hybridizes design elements of Imperial TIEs and the base Zenuas 33 whilst retaining much of the original framework. The inside of the outer wings are lined with solar panels as are the dorsal plates of the smaller inner wings complimenting the Umbaran reactor that the craft primarily relies on. As opposed to using the twin ion engines of the titular TIE series, the SZ-34 has a specialized engine system inspired by the original fighter that uses four elongated output vents keeping to the Zenuas 33’s three vertical vents maintaining the fighter’s impressive maneuverability while doubling it’s speed. Also unlike standard TIEs, the SZ-34 possesses a hyperdrive, life support systems, and long range communications as well as a significantly heavier armament including two wing mounted Umbaran laser cannons and two Imperial versions of the Umbaran electromagnetic plasma cannons giving the SZ-34 an impressive arsenal both for dogfighting and air support. Several design traits of the original fighter were lost as the Empire was unable to replicate or otherly incorporate the technology such as ray shielding and the flexible airframe being replaced instead with standard deflector shields and jointed outer wings respectively while the entirety of the the Zenuas 33’s holographic interface and detachable “cockpit” were removed and replaced with controls more akin to standard TIE fighters. Noli was however able to partially replicate the original interface after much experimentation allowing Kess to use one hand to fly the craft via stick while his other uses a holographic bubble to control much of the fighters systems such as the weapons and engines with much of the ship’s display also being replaced with an Umbaran interface thanks to her modifications. Dubbing it the TIE “Ghost”, Kess flies the prototype with skill and joy taking full advantage of it’s similarities to the Zenuas 33 he grew up learning to operate.

Politics. That’s what everything boils down to on my world—do anything you can to jump castes, to move up in life. All’s fair in love and class war, but whatever you do, do not get caught.

I wasn’t caught, I was just collateral damage. So now I’m out here building myself up. With the Imps, Exchange, Hutts, whoever…and one day when I’ve got creds enough, when I’ve got a rep enough, when I’ve got a name enough…maybe then I’ll finally be able to go back home.
