All the year unknown Easter eggs have me excited but can we just talk about Ben's timeline for a second? Because firstly it's the only one that has his birth on it which feels like it means something, especially with this being 'the final timeline' but also it has both Ben's on there and year unknown says 'Ben is released'. Not Sparrow Ben, *Ben*. Lads I fucking happy cried at this, I'll be so furious if it is actually about Sparrow Ben. Also, the subway motif and last we saw Ben was on a subway so like...clearly he's important this season.

I've been really into the theories that Sparrow Ben will have Brelly Ben's memories or be an amalgamation of both Ben's and this definitely feels like its hinting at this.

Edit: So I've seen someone point out that Ben born is in relation to Harlan having killed their mums which...is probably true but he didn't kill Lila's parents and her's doesn't say Lila born?

1. His death was what fractured the original Umbrella Academy - spurring the events of what happened afterwards.

2. There’s absolutely no reason for the writers to build up the cause/story behind his death for THIS long unless it’s a main plot point. We get teasers and hints here and there but it’s been increasingly apparent that ‘the Jennifer Incident’ is something that’ll be huge.

3. Following point 2, the ‘Jennifer Incident’ happened in both timelines - Umbrella and Sparrow. Obviously in the Umbrella timeline, it was the incident that killed Umbrella!Ben. In the Sparrow timeline, it was hinted that something happened that made Ben’s attempt to claim the ‘Number One’ position a total failure. We saw sketches of ‘Jennifer’ in Sparrow!Ben’s room, which confirms that she was someone who had a connection to him.

4. Every major reveal in all the season finales has something to do with him. Season 1 it was revealed that he’s been a ghost this whole time (it’s still not clear on why he aged with them) and he saved everyone. Season 2 had the huge Sparrow!Ben reveal. Season 3 ended with him on a train in Korea.

5. We started S3 with Ben’s mom giving birth to him on a train and we ended S3 with Ben on a similar train.

If that doesn’t scream main character energy then I don’t know what does.

I’ll give you both of my hands to support you through this shock.

Netflix acquired the rights and announced in 2023 that they were going to make a live-action series about Horizon Zero Dawn. I’d honestly forgotten about it until Sony Pictures announced in the last 24 hours that the show was currently being written (along with a series for God Of War by Amazon Prime). At the moment, the showrunner for the Umbrella Academy series Steve Blackman is involved with the project but no other cast or crew announced.

Now a lot of shows can flounder in development hell and never make it to release. So I’m trying not to have much of an opinion either way until filming is wrapped and a teaser trailer is dropped online. I had major reservations for The Last Of Us to get a show and it blew me out of the water. But knowing how vast the world and lore of Horizon is, I’m definitely a bit wary.

Interesting dream I just woke up from:

I was taking a film studies class at my university and we got to see an advanced teaser trailer of an upcoming DreamWorks movie called "The Hotel." Very little was known about it, but it was rumored to be a massive crossover between many of DreamWorks' movies.

The screen starts out all white, and it fades into the middle of a blizzard in a mountainous area. The blizzard starts to fade, and out of the snow walks Jack Frost, confirming the rumor he was in the movie. (I turn to my friend, grinning wildly, and I shit you not I say "the Tumblr girlies are going to freak when they see this," as if I am not one of those Tumblr girlies.)

It cuts to Jack and Bunny standing at the edge of a cliff covered in snow with trees in the middle of their leaves dying in the background. They don't say anything, but do the last step of the Dragon Ball Z fusion dance and hold it as they generate some combined magical power. It looks like the super ice power Jack develops in the middle of the movie. It builds until they can't hold it any longer and they separate with the magic releasing into the air. The magic splits the earth apart perpendicularly to the cliff face, and snow dramatically falls into the crevasse. Jack and Bunny both look satisfied at the outcome.

There is a very brief moment where Jamie and another kid from the town are sledding wildly in the newly formed canyon, but it lasts for like two seconds before the teaser cuts to an entirely different scene.

It's the edge of a different part of the wooded area, understood to be further down the mountain where Jack and Bunny did their magic. There's snow on the ground and the trees are in the middle of fall. There's also a small river running along the edge of the trees, with a bridge going across part of it to help people cross. Several of them do, and it's understood they're heading from homes further down in the valley, where the town is. The vibe is that it's the Alps in Europe.

The camera cuts to a close up on the bridge to reveal part of it is broken. Most people hop over the broken part easily, but then someone approaches and stops at the edge of the broken part. The camera pans up to show a young man (short brown hair, brown eyes, and a dark trenchcoat) standing there in frustration, holding a cane and walking with a limp. It's clear he's disabled and finds it difficult to cross the bridge unaided because of the broken part. But he manages to cross it and heads down to his job in the village.

There's a brief montage a la Up of the man trying to cross the bridge and it getting harder and harder for him as he gets older. Finally, he's an arthritic old man (still in the same trenchcoat) and he decides he's had enough and steps off the bridge into the river, which is understood to be extremely cold.

Thankfully, Jack Frost is there and decides to rescue the old man and dives into the river (for some reason he doesn't have his staff with him the entire teaser, so it's just him). The old man is crouched (despite the current) on the bottom of the river and is surprised to see Jack there, also crouched a few feet away. Jack is also surprised and says, "You can see me?" The man responds, in a cross between a German and Italian accent, "Of course I can see you, you're right there!" and mutters something about weird kids being weird.

The teaser cuts to Jack dragging the man out of the river and laying him on a pile of leaves. The man is clearly frostbitten and dead, but Jack raises his hand and kisses it, sending his magic coursing through the man's body and reviving him. The man gets to his feet and starts pestering Jack with questions, gesticulating wildly (briefly without his cane, though it appears later) when a new guy approaches. This guy looks like a cross between Wong from Doctor Strange and Happy from the Umbrella Academy, also in a trenchcoat. He takes a sip from a steaming Starbucks cup of tea, and says to Jack, "Oh good, you got him." This makes the old man ask more questions, but the newcomer ignores them and starts walking back into the woods, gesturing for him (once more with the cane and limp) and Jack to follow. They do, but the camera doesn't follow them, instead zooming out to show more trees.

As the camera moves around, there is a very brief shot of Toothless, wearing riding gear, hanging upside down high in a tree (you'd only see him if you were looking, which the camera does for us) and itching his wing. It's understood that Jack, the old man, and the newcomer are going to some hidden village in the woods where a bunch of DreamWorks protagonists have made their home. It's also understood that they're quasi immortal since they're all fictional characters, but my dream doesn't expand on the meta.

I have to emphasize here that the setting is all quite beautiful and typical of DreamWorks' "scenery porn," as TV Tropes calls it. Everything is also clearly animated in a hyperrealistic style, except for the Wong/Happy guy, who is live action, though he doesn't look out of place.

The teaser ends with no more explanation of who this old man is, and then I wake up because my cat is messing with the curtains, with this dream vividly in mind.
