Something to be said about Joel’s specific wordage, after Jimmy dies. He says “I was gonna sacrifice myself for him, so he wouldn’t be the first out.”

After Jimmy dies, Joel kinda snaps. He goes off it, trying desperately to get kills, to avenge Jimmy. And even Grian points out “Joel reaches a point where he just loses his mind, completely, and he— he was way past that a while ago. Jimmy’s death has kind of had an adverse effect on him.”

And I just— I look at the way Joel says he was gonna sacrifice himself so that Jimmy wouldn’t be out first. Not that he was just gonna give Jimmy time. It was so that Jimmy wouldn’t be out first. As if he was gonna just… let Jimmy take all his time, maybe? I don’t know. But…

To me, it seems like Joel never planned to see Jimmy die at all. He planned to be dead before then. And so, seeing Jimmy die… it broke him. And I just. I can’t be normal about that.

5. Anything you haven’t drawn yet but want to?

OHH SO MANY THINGS.. I have no less than three (3) pieces of fic fanart I REALLY want to draw but I just Haven't yet. (One because its out of my comfort zone of character design, another because it's out of my comfort zone for perspective/backgrounds, and the last because I need to reread so I know what they're wearing LOL)

THEN there's the portal au I want to design guys for.... the [redacted] au which I am fighting the desire to draw comics for constantly... OH and I want to draw mumscarian baking together at some point <- going through baking art withdrawls. I NEED TO DRAW OLI AND HIS SON. There are so many. JOEL. Just generally

YES... I. Don't know if I want to say very much about it but I want to do a choose your own adventure ask blog / event on this blog. I just keep having my ideas spiral out of control. I am so compelled by this idea though.

Hey do you happen to know, in fWhip’s hardcore, is the purple glass in the middle of the world tree meant to be like, floating magic light or glowing magic crystal? I only started watching his hardcore videos this last year and I’ve only gathered broad strokes about the world building.

As far as I know the purple glass in his building is some sort of magic energy that flows through his lands it also can be found in his iron farm. in this video he explains that the purple is, and I quote: "a sort of magic in the building causing the farm to still be functioning and holding the entire ruined tower together" So i think its similar for the tree aka its a magic that keeps the world tree together and helps it stay alive. In general he had talked more about the purple glass in a stream, but i dunno which one. @umbrify might know some more to that

fWhip was having a terrible morning. He had to suffer through Jimmy and all of his mister perfect, I wake up for fun and do sports energy even earlier than usual due to how their current lab project simply had to be done. And now had to wait an additional hour for his next class. He already had to wait a whole hour for it when the lab was at its usual time... So he went to Pix's antique store to not crowd the already overcrowded with tired students coffee shop next door. And now kind of sat there and complained about Jimmy to Pix as the shop's owner went over his important shop books. And slowly sipping his coffee.

"I just don't understand how he can have so much energy this early, he's not human I tell you," fWhip huffed and took another sip of coffee. If anything could help him through today that was it. Why must he share so many classes with Jimmy's terribly perfect self? At least there was that modern lit elective he took just because a friend asked him. 

He was about to complain more but the door opened and Pix didn't even look up from his book. "Hello Scott," he said with a sigh.

"Don't you hallo Scott me," came a very familiar huff. fWhip knew Scott well. They had that modern lit together and Scott was... a bit of a special case. "Hello fWhip," Scott grinned spotting him and instantly turned back to Pix.

"Can I help you?" Pix asked, finally looking up from his books.

"No." Scott said placing his colourful, covered about a third of the way in pins bag on the counter. And pulled out... A white thermos with pretty red flowers all over it and a matching tub with a plastic cover. "I know you'll drink nothing but coffee if I let you so I brought you some tea and cookies I made while studying last night," Scott grinned.

fWhip was a bit confused. Not why Scott was in an antique shop. He was the star of the history department. Their own mister perfect with all perfect scores. Scott was not only that, Scott was also a weirdo who took modern lit even though he apparently hated modern literature. And a home economics elective just for the hell of it. And he had a pretty full schedule without those... Oh, and he apparently took some art thing as his third elective. What normal person took three electives with nothing to do with your main subjects? Who took three electives in the first place if you could get away with just one? And he fed Pix on top of that? How did that even happen?

"Okay, I'm off to my Grimlands History class, I'll come by around lunch, don;t worry I have plenty of these and I'll pick them up after classes... Bye," Scott grinned, placing a kiss on Pix's cheek. "See you at modern lit, fWhip," he waved and marched off. His colourful combat shoes made a funny noise on the tile floor as he marched off, bag over one shoulder, long coat flowing behind him. All he was missing, fWhip thought, were flower petals but Pix would probably not tolerate that in his store.

"I have no idea why he keeps coming here," Pix sighed shaking his head. He did pour some of the tea from the thermos into a cup he usually used for coffee and opened the cookie box. fWhip vaguely recognised the two as something Scott once showed up to the lit class with, calling it an art project. 

"Well, he is a history major," fWhip shrugged, sadly noticing his coffee was gone. "And the best one too," he added having noticed the shock on Pix's face.

"I thought he's an art major or something..."

"He does take an art elective, I think he painted these," fWhip could not help but chuckle as he pointed to containers Scott dropped on Pix. "A complete overachiever who always has homemade snacks on him," he summarised as Pix slowly ate the first cookie. Complete disbelief was still on his face.

"He never talks about history," Pix hummed, finished the first cookie and took another. 

"All you have here is probably too new for him, he always complains about modern literature saying ancient elven texts are much better," fWhip hummed, his initial Jimmy annoyance getting maybe a bit lower at the thought of Scott bringing Pix homemade cookies in hand-painted containers. It was at least a distraction, wasn't it?

There's some more quotes at the end but I'm breaking in here. fWhip has an episode coming out tomorrow, so I’m wondering if he’s playing up some stuff based on knowing what’s in the episode? If somehow it’s not in Jimmy’s ep from today? He periodically shouted lore, so I’m treating it all as lore. If this is what c!fWhip thinks is going on, and that it matches his action, what a marvelous little goblin man we have here. I want to put him under a microscope and poke him with a wonky stick.

With Hermitcraft season 9 coming to a close, I wanted to pull up this clip from Joe Hills’ ten year anniversary stream. It’s a clip I think about often.

Joe: I— it’s so hard, like, to say goodbye to ten seasons— or— ten years, of Hermitcraft. But then, I guess, I realize, I don’t have to, because we’re gonna go make more.

It just… it reminds me that we’re not saying goodbye, y’know? And there’s always a bit of that somber energy around a season ending, as exciting as it is otherwise, so I’ve been thinking about this again. Immediately after that clip, Joe goes on to talk about plans that they all have for an event the following day, and it’s just…

It’s okay. There will be more Hermitcraft tomorrow.

People have been being really harsh towards fWhip recently over the whole “no lore” thing on SOS, which was only ever meant to be an inside joke between creators. All creators knew the plan for the series going in, and agreed to it.

Please remember to be kind, and if we could send some extra love fWhip’s way, I think that would be great. He’s such an amazing creator who puts so much love and passion into his projects, it really sucks to see people be so cruel over such a small thing.

Okay so, we all know that fWhip and the group have a new series starting soon, yeah?

Recently, fWhip put out a short where he built a stone obelisk of sorts, with some glowing letters carved into it

Assuming I’m reading it right, it says “SOS” in galactic. In the short, he says that that it’s “not ominous, or foreshadowing anything at all!”

So, it definitely is.

We also know that Pixlriffs mentioned starting a new multiplayer series: “I’m also about to start a new multiplayer project, which should be beginning this weekend.” [Survival Guide S3 E.87 (0:23)]

Apart from these two, I’ve also seen that both Oli and Sausage have alluded to new skins in some way

The skins seem very casual to me? I also noticed that Sausage’s skin is lacking the shoulder pad and fallout wristband that he usually wears, which is interesting. (Perhaps related to fWhip mentioning that he’s not allowing multidimensional lore, but still worth noting regardless.) To me, it’s giving like, normal people somehow stranded in a fantasy world vibes. We also know that fWhip commissioned a special mod for this series, so perhaps it’s something to do with that?

So! It seems like the new series is starting this weekend (Feb 24-25), if Pix is correct. It’s also worth mentioning once again that this is NOT empires season three, as fWhip has repeatedly emphasized that a season three will not be happening this year.

Finally finished taking notes on all the Empires POV’s that I take notes for. My hands are dead and I am tired. Here’s some of my personal highlights from today’s shenanigans, in no particular timeline order:

Scott Smajor having the coolest “hermits join the server” moment, with the purple sky and the fog. Very cool of you

Joel vibrating at the seams because he’s so excited his friends are here and he’s trying to be normal about it

Two different hermits absolutely gushing over Gobland and how cool it is

Scar: I love the colors in here, they go together so nice! / fWhip: I’m glad you think so, because I’m colorblind! So!

Whatever was going on w Sausage and Keralis. Why are they like that (affectionate)

Sausage being So Incredibly Normal about Pearl being there

Pearl wore her season one skin holy shit

Scott explaining Pearl away by saying she’s a cosplayer. A… god cosplayer. Yep.

The fact that they clearly did NOT discuss wether they knew each other or not. schrodinger's canon <3

Sausage: hey False what happened to the clothes you got off that dead guy that one time? / False, from Hermitcraft: ….what?

The hermits acting like they know Empires!Gem and her just being like “this is fine. Act natural.”

Sausage casually dropping his entire tragic backstory on Keralis and Jevin and then just. Moving on completely

Also the fact that Sausage greets them both by name and then acts surprised when they know his name a minute later, despite them calling him by it for a minute or two now. Great job everyone

Jimmy ALSO got to see his evil soulmate, his soul enemy, if you will, Grian, who won’t let him have peace in any timeline

But Jimmy has SUCH a big smile on his face the whole time, you could tell he was so thrilled they were there

Impulse: Scott! My friend! My buddy! We’ve seen each other before, how are you! / Scott: I’ve never met this man in my life

Joe Hills saying he broke his arm but he’s actually just holding a stick while having litematicia installed and he doesn’t know how it works

The fact that Scar was the first one to consider that maybe the hermits should try to figure out how to get home?? Everyone was just like “ooh free vacation :)” and did NOT question it

Grian and Impulse blasting the Hermitcraft Recap music down the mic while they chase Pix around live on stream, and then Grian including that in his video so that Pix HAS to recap himself. Absolutely incredible work boys

And an extra special shoutout to the fact that fWhip and Grian have been working this out for four months now! Absolutely incredible, I’m so excited to see more. Oh my god

Thinking about Joel’s episode today (s2 e34) in the context of the idea that the old empires are largely just stories and myths now. And I’m thinking about the way that, upon realizing who he was looking at, Jimmy says “Wait— you’re back?” Like he recognizes king Joel for who he is, and just—

It’s the way that Jimmy only refers to him as “Mezalean King,” and never as Joel. How he asks where “God Joel” has gone.

And it’s how confused Jimmy is when Joel calls him the cod king. It’s the way he refutes it, “I’m not— I’m not— I don’t know who the cod king is, I’m— I’m just a sheriff, alright? Leave it at that, I think.”

All these pieces here, and I’m imagining what sort of scenario Jimmy must be in right then. He’s the leader of this mesa town, and— of course he’s read the history books, he knows about the long gone city of Mezalea, and of their king, how they may have once lived in a place not far from here, but… well. He never thought he’d be meeting that king face to face. King of Mezalea… and he looks remarkably like Joel. And he’s calling Jimmy the cod king, and…

I dunno. I imagine it’s a lot to think about.

I’ve seen this misconception going around that Joel is the only player that timed out, and I wanted to put it out there that this is not the case. In his episode, you can see at the end that he dies with just over 3 minutes left

He was killed by Scott, which you can see in his episode 7 at 27:14

Joel died fighting. He died fighting. That’s so important to me.

Since Empires season two is coming to a close, I wanna put this out there for anyone that needs to hear it— I know I do.

You’re allowed to keep making art for these characters after it’s over. You’re allowed to keep drawing them and writing about them and cosplaying them and everything else you do. You’re allowed to keep loving them.

You can just make whatever you want forever!! Don’t feel like you have to stop!!!

Ren showing up to bust the party in his basement and everyone scattering is the funniest thing. Personal highlights of the escape include:

Ren, distant: “Hello???”

Jevin: “The kings here!”

Impulse: “Oh no no!!”

Hypno: “Woah! It’s the cops! Cheese it!!!”

Grian, increasingly distressed: “you didn’t clear this wiTH THE KING??”

Tango: “Dad’s here!!”

The sheer speed that everyone just scattered on outta there was incredible. Hypno called scatter and everyone just bailed immediately

Hey so just in case anyone out there wants to know, fWhip was talking about the empires ending and subsequent plans on stream today. The stream crashed a few minutes in, so some of it was lost, but he said “We’ve got something new coming. I won’t tell you what, but, there is something,” and said that it would be with the empires group, so we’ve got that to look forward to!

He also mentions that the group tends to not immediately jump into another vanilla series, so it’s likely that it’s something modded? Either way, good to know I think— I know I felt a bit reassured knowing there was a new group project in the works.

He also talks more about his ending, and about empires season two as a whole, so it’s really worth a look at the vod if you wanna know more about the inner workings of empires (most talk happens for about the first 13 minutes, though discussion carries on and off throughout.)

Highlights are that they haven’t discussed a world download yet as people are still wrapping up, and that we might see him around still in other peoples videos as the series concludes. He also mentions that we’ll likely hear more about the fae from other perspectives, as he wasn’t involved in that plotline. He says they currently have no plans for a season three— but I would assume that’s not something they’d discuss till they’re well into whatever new series they’ve got planned, so I wouldn’t worry about that for now.
