meet me in the pouring rain
Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: mark's working over time to make things up to you, because when sparks fly, they fly. (part two of life in a glass house)
word count: 886
all he could hear were your words, “i asked you not to waste my time mark,” repeating in his head like a mantra. he couldn’t go one second without hearing them. lifting weights with the team, he was thinking about you; eating at the dining hall, his thoughts were centered around you.
it was a slap to the face, honestly. he worked so hard to gain your trust, establish a friendship with you, and then blew it in the span of one night. he blew it and he hadn’t even known it. until days later, and it was affecting everything.
his game was off. he was spending more time than usual in the penalty box, and that’s saying something since he’s already in there an excessive amount of time. his social life was also taking a hit. suddenly, he didn’t even want to think about partying, drinking, or seeing any girls. all he wanted was you.
he missed your study sessions, your ranting about books, ones he’s never even heard of, and your sarcastic remarks. he missed seeing your encouraging smile when he started to understand the material from english class. he missed sitting side by side on his bed, legs barely touching, as you ripped apart his latest composition. he missed watching you chew on the cap of the red, ballpoint, bic pen as you made small corrections to his revised essays. but most importantly, he missed you.
after this revelation, mark made it his personal mission to talk to you again. he tried catching you after class, but you were either ignoring him or didn’t hear him. he wanted to believe it was the latter, but he knew there was a higher probability that the former was true.
then, he tried finding you after your weekly book club meetings. he knew it met on thursdays, because you very adamant about keeping thursdays free, and he knew meetings occurred in a room in the student union. he just, for the life of him, could not find out which room. so that idea went down the drain.
a week later, he saw you in the stands at yost arena. you were sitting with some friends, your group barely paying any attention to the ice or the people on it. but his eyes found you, and they kept coming back to you. “dude, get your head in the game,” ethan said, speeding by him. all he could think about was how you’d comment on the high school musical reference.
thankfully, they won that game, and mark was sure that you’d stick around. he was so sure, that he rushed to shower and change back into his suit. imagine his surprise when he walks out of the locker room and can’t find you. he’d lost you again.
the next day, on his run, mark stopped in front of your dorm building. ever since you stopped talking to him, he changed his route, praying for a chance to run into you. it seemed that luck was on his side because you were fumbling around for your id to unlock the door when he slowed to a stop in front of your dorm room.
“mark? you’re soaked, what are you doing?” you asked, looking at him for the first time in weeks. and that’s all that mattered at the moment, the fact that your eyes were meeting his. and was it raining? it was raining, he realized as he felt the cold water deep into his bones.
“i ran to clear my head, and i somehow ended up here,” he answered. mark wanted you to respond, but you didn’t say anything. instead, you just stared at him. “look, y/n, the letter thing wasn’t my fault. i had no idea you even wrote me a letter until after you stopped talking to me. i was complaining about it to the guys, and they told me what happened. i really had no idea,” he explained.
“why didn’t you tell me any of this sooner?” you asked, arms crossed as the rain soaked your hair and all other aspects of your outfit.
“i tried, but you were kind of ignoring me,” mark answered. “is that it?” you replied, after a couple beats of silence.
“yeah, my pride is telling me that’s it. my pride just wants me to walk away and pretend like nine of this ever happened, but my heart says just forget about your pride, you idiot. you love this girl. and even if you’re gonna catch pneumonia, your ass is gonna stand out here in the rain, until you can convince her to forgive you.”
“and why should i? forgive you?” she finally asked, giving him a curious look. “because i love you. and you look really hot standing out here in the rain, so i have to kiss you,” mark answered, with zero hesitation. at that moment, y/n smiled, a small one, but it was a smile, nonetheless.
“oh you have to?” she asked, in that smartass tone that would usually have mark going mental, but with her it was fine. “i have to,” he agreed as her arms wrapped around the back of his neck, one hand digging into his hair. “then you better kiss me you stupid idiot,” she mumbled right as their lips collided.

your heart dropped at the sight of tyler's lips latched onto another girl.
your fingers made its way to the necklace he gave you for your birthday. the months of repairing your friendship and going on 'dates' down the drain.
sure the relationship had been fake but you were convinced that your feelings for each other now were true.
"y/n, are you okay?" will asked.
instead of jumping for joy that the boy you had been crushing on was talking to you. you shook your head and let out a sob.
will looked over your shoulder and grit his teeth. the blonde immediately pulled you in for a hug and directed you towards your group of friends.
sarah sobered up quickly and took you away from will as cutter and rutger asked the boy what happened.
"i don't even know why i'm so upset because it was all fake," you choked out.
sarah furrowed her eyebrows. "do you think maybe a part of you wanted it to be real?" she asked.
"i hated him sarah. for the past twelve years of my life, tyler duke made it his mission to bother me but this bothers me the most," you whispered.
tyler wasn't one for good timing, so when he reached his friend group it was just as will had explained what he saw. the duke boy was then met with a nice right hook from rutger.
"you're a fucking asshole." he spat.
tyler was stunned as he searched the crowd for you. one of the first things he noticed was the absence of the necklace he gave you. the next was your puffy eyes.
that party was the last time you saw tyler duke.
or so you thought.
it had been a year of successfully avoiding tyler, with the help of some of his friends.
“y/n/n, you haven’t looked at the hockey team have you?” franks new girlfriend asked.
the girlfriends on the team were well aware of what happened between you and tyler. rutger had accidentally slipped up one night and now the boys were protective of you.
the girlfriends had welcomed you with open arms.
“i have not. why what’s wrong?” you asked.
your question was answered almost immediately when you heard his voice.
“she hasn’t spoken to me since that night man. i don’t even know what i did wrong,” tyler spoke to his brother.
dylan had tried his best to get his brother far away from you but it was no use. tyler was determined to get back to the locker room, using the route you were stood in.
seamus tried blocking you from his view but it was useless as tyler had already called your name.
the florida native kept his hand around your waist, prompting tyler to think that the two were dating. tyler just bite his lips and nodded his head slowly.
“i should’ve known you’d go for one of my teammates.” tyler spat.
mark and ethan stepped in front of tyler, blocking you from his view. tyler just rolled his eyes and shook his head.
“you should go ty,” dylan advised his younger brother.
tyler scoffed at his older brother and pushed his way past you and seamus. dylan looked to you and apologised before following after his younger brother.
"you cheated on me!" you exclaimed before tyler went too far.
the boy stopped and turned to you. "you kissed that girl at the party and I saw it. damn it tyler the whole time we were together it benefited you way more than me," you ranted.
tyler was stunned, he realised that you hadn't seen him push the girl away and search for you instead. you also hadn't realised that the only person he wanted was you.
"and to think, i was really starting to like you," you whispered before walking away from the team.
the guys all glared at tyler. especially rutger and frank "you fucked up bad ty," they chastised him.

Undivided attention—
Request: Luke has been simping over this sweet brunette girl who has the cutest dimples when she smiles. He decided to keep it a secret because he wanted to enjoy her all to himself. So he’s been rescheduling hanging out with his friends and brothers.
This is not my best work, but I'm pushing myself to write something!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
from Luke: Can't make it tonight. Swamped with homework :/
from Mark: Boo you whore
Luke was greedy when it came to her. He would scream it from the rooftops if it meant that he could cherish her and love her away from the chirping and the pestering of his team. So he kept her his little secret, not because he was ashamed or embarrassed of her, but because he liked the privacy and the luxury of keeping her all to himself. No annoying roommates, no older brothers, just her and him in a little bubble of love without any outside voices.
Luke grinned as Y/n made eye contact with him from across the library, his phone buzzing in his pocket from the boy's complaints about how he's grown flakey over the past few months. The notifications died off as he turned on Do Not Disturb and joined the girl prettily sitting in the back of the library.
There was an array of textbooks in front of her as she ushered for him to take the seat next to her, smiling shyly under his loving stare, "you feeling okay Lukey?" she asked as he leaned in to press a kiss to her cheek. "M' doing just fine," he grinned as his thumb ran over the soft skin of her face, dipping into the dimple of her cheek as her grin made it grow more prominent.
"Let's get you caught up," she mumbled, trying to get his adoring stare off of her and onto the notes she prepared to help him get caught up in anatomy. His gaze stayed fixated on her as she organized her notes, awaiting his full and undivided attention.
"Luke" she whined and gently grabbed his face to make him look at the book opened up in front of them, "pay attention please." Luke shook his head, pulling himself out of the little trance he was caught in, "sorry," he grinned as she smiled back, "you're just too cute," he mumbled as her cheeks began to blush a dark red.
His hand came up to brush the face framing pieces of hair out of her eyes and tucking them behind her ears as she stared at him with no trace of amusement. "Stop distracting me, you need to study," she mumbled and looked from the books back at him, a pleased look on his face as he leaned forward and placed a short, but hungry kiss to her lips and then pulled away pointing at the book. "Okay, I'm ready to learn."
She stared at him, her eyes a little hazy from the surprising amount of loving he'd been giving her, flushed cheeks, as she fought off the lovesick feeling in her chest, "uhhh, okay, um where to start," she stalled and flipped through her book.
A laugh left Luke's lips as he dug through his bare for his laptop and books, giving her a second to collect herself before they actually started to study.
It was about half an hour later when she pressed a kiss to Luke's jaw as he got a question correct, and then a gasp erupted from across the room. Dylan and Ethan who had been sent on the mission of finding and trying to convince Luke to go out instead of spending his night in the library, but the sight of a pretty girl leaning up against him pulled a reaction out of the two boys.
"You skipped on boy's night to kiss your tutor?" Ethan whispered loudly as he and Dylan stood in front of the couple. Luke looked at his teammates unamused as the girl hid her face in his shoulder, praying that the blush would die down and she could hold a normal conversation without acting like some caught teenager.
"This is Y/n," he smiled as she looked up at his best friends with a nervous smile, "my girlfriend, not my tutor," he said watching as Dylan's face dropped with confusion. "You hid this from us?" he asked with a dropped jaw, "didn't even tell your best friends?" Luke shook his head at Duker's dramatics and turned to Y/n whose dimples were on display as she grinned at his roommates who were now bickering.
Ethan stopped his petty fight with Dylan to look at Luke, "please stop eye fucking her, there are people trying to study," he said watching as Luke looked at him smugly and sat back in his chair, arm wrapping around his girlfriend to pull her into his side as Dylan looked between the two of the distraughtly. "How long has this been going on?" "A little over two months," the girl finally spoke up as Dylan's eyes went wide. "I can't believe you Hughes, you really hid this from us, your roommates for this long!"
The people around the room were staring at the scene causing Y/n to shrink in her seat of embarrassment, Luke laughed at how shy she suddenly grew and then back at the boys, "Okay you guys gotta go, we need to finish studying." Both Ethan and Dylan looked taken aback at that statement as their brows furrowed, "Study?" Ethan laughed and then turned to the girl he just met, "What have you done to him?" "Oh fuck you, go home," Luke said and shooed them away as both Dylan and Ethan said their goodbyes to Luke and the girl before heading back to the sophomore house to tell Mackie and Mark the news that Luke wouldn't be going out.
"Sorry about them," Luke said kind of embarrassed as Y/n shook her head and grinned at him. "they seem lovely," she said while pressing a kiss to his shoulder before flipping to a new page in her notebook. "You'll think less highly of them once they're all in a room, or once they've had a few beers," he mumbled and looked back at her who was still smiling up at him.
Those damn dimples, he thought to himself as he squeezed her thigh and tried to focus back on the terms list in front of him.

[ 5 more minutes ] l. hughes
Tumblr media
paring : Luke Hughes x fem!reader
summary : Luke’s girlfriend surprises him in Newark after his last college hockey game
warning(s) : none really. just very fluffy and emotional. also very short bc it was 1 am when i came up w this idea
author’s note : in honor of today being my last day as an ncaa student athlete, i quickly wrote this up. i was feeling very emotional and i needed a way to express how i felt. hence why we now have a very fluffy / emotional fic. some of the comments luke makes are some of my thoughts about how my own season ended yesterday. it’s kinda sad but it had to be done. you’re welcome (i think ?)
༺═──────────────═༻
Jack texts her when he has picked up his younger brother from the airport. She begins to pace around the living room of Jack’s apartment that he’s now going to be sharing with Luke.
She has no clue what state Luke is going to be in when he walks through the door. He’s probably going to be so pissed that he spent the last two minutes or so of his college career in the penalty box instead of on the ice or on the bench with his teammates. He’s been so busy traveling that he hasn’t had time to sit and reflect on the season.
That’s the reason that she hopped on a flight to Newark as soon as the clock hit zero against Quinnipac. She just wanted to make sure that he’s okay before he goes and signs his NHL contract in two days and joins Jack on the Devils.
Either he’s going to be really upset and pissed or he’s going to be excited to start the next chapter in his career. She has no idea which version of Luke she’s going to get.
Keys jingle in the door about a half hour after Jack texts her to let her know he has Luke. She stops pacing and stands in the middle of the living room. Her eyes are on the door as Jack pushes it open.
“… not really in the mood for any surprises,” Luke says as he walks through the door. “I’m so tired.”
“I think you’ll like this one,” Jack tells his brother as he shuts the door behind them. Luke drops the big duffel bag that contains his hockey gear on the floor by the door in the foyer area. Then he finally makes his way to the living room with his suitcase.
He freezes mid-step when he sees his girlfriend.
With a small wave and a smile, she says, “Hi, Lukey.”
Luke crosses the room in five strides because of his stupidly long legs. He envelops her in a hug and buries his face in her neck. She wraps her arms around his torso and they stand like that for what feels like an eternity.
She doesn’t mind. If it means that Luke’s okay then she’ll stand like this forever.
She presses soft kisses into his shoulder and whispers to him, “I’m so proud of you, Luke. So incredibly proud of you. I know that’s not how you wanted the season to end but you did everything you could, and for that I am so, so proud of you.”
A quiet sob wracks Luke’s body as he pulls back from the hug. She sees tears in his eyes and frowns. A couple roll down his cheek and she reaches up to wipe them away. Jack silently sneaks out of the apartment. He thinks he’s slick but she saw him leave behind Luke.
“I hated that I wasnt out there those last two minutes,” he tells her, voice shaky. “Maybe I could’ve done something that pushed the game into overtime or won it for us. Instead I was in the penalty box while my team had to fight even harder to get goals because they were down a man.”
“I know, baby,” she softly replies. “I wish I could’ve given you guys five more minutes. You all fought so hard. So fucking hard. I’m so sorry that’s how your season ended.”
More tears roll down Luke’s cheeks and she continues to wipe them away.
“I feel like I let them down,” he whispers. “I could’ve fought harder for them. For this season. I let them down when they needed me most and now I’m abandoning them.” His words break her heart.
She shakes her head and cups his jaw. “You didn’t let anyone down,” she tells him. “You did what you could in the sixty minutes you had. They know that and they will always remember how hard you fought for them. You’re so important to everyone on that team and you played such an important role in getting as far as you did as a team. They’re just as proud of you as I am because you are about to start an amazing new chapter in your hockey career. You aren’t abandoning them, Luke. They want you to move forward in your career. They understand that you’re ready and that this is what you want.”
Luke nods and wraps his hands around her wrists. She continues to look up at her boyfriend.
She’ll never understand how he feels because she isn’t an athlete. All she can do now is try to help him realize that he isn’t the worst teammate that he thinks he is at the moment. She doesn’t want him to have that mindset as he transitions from college to the NHL.
Losing is tough in any sport. She knows that much and she is going to make sure that Luke understands that it is okay to feel this way but that he also has to get ready to move forward.
“Thank you for being here,” he says after a moment of comfortable silence. “Sorry I’m such a mess. I didn’t think it would affect me this much.”
“It just shows how much you love every team that you’re on,” she replies. “You dedicate so much time to hockey because you love it. You’re allowed to feel this way and feel it for a little bit. You do have a contract to sign in a few days so I’m giving you tonight to get out everything you feel about the Michigan season ended. Tomorrow, it’s time to get excited. I’m here to help you get excited.”
A smile finally cracks through the frown that’s been plastered on Luke’s face since he saw her. She dries his cheeks one more time before she pulls him back into a hug.
Luke presses a soft kiss to the top of her head. “I love you,” he says into her hair. “I don’t deserve you.”
“Shut up. Yes you do,” she retorts. “I love you too. Let’s go get you unpacked then we can take a nap because I heard you tell Jack how tired you are.”
When she pulls away from the hug and starts to walk to his suitcase, Luke grabs her hand and pulls her back to him. She looks up at him for a quick second before his lips are on hers. The kiss surprises her because of how emotional he is, but sometimes a kiss is all it takes to feel better.
She happily smiles into the kiss and runs her fingers through his curls as she returns it. It’s one of his favorite things she does so many he’ll start to feel better a little faster. Luke loves feelings her fingers in his curls. It’s the reason he doesn’t try to tame them.
The front door opens again and a voice says, “Okay, we are establishing some rules. Rule one, the door stays open three inches when your girlfriend is over. I don’t need any babies crying in my apartment at three in the morning right now.”
They both pull back and she looks behind Luke at Jack, who has a disgusted look on his face. She smiles but Luke’s cheeks turn a tomato red. She laughs and shakes her head.
“Rule two,” Jack continues. “No making out anywhere I can see you. That means the-”
“Jack!” Luke snaps. “I get it. We get it. Also, I’m not going to be leaving my door open three inches. If I want to have sex with my girlfriend then I’m going to. It’s my room and we split the rent now so I’ll do what I want.”
“None of that premarital kissing stuff where I can see or hear it,” Jack tells his brother. “I don’t need that in my life.”
She laughs and takes the opportunity to grab Luke’s bag and suitcase. “Don’t worry,” she says. “We won’t traumatize you. Again.”
Both Luke and his girlfriend laugh as they make their way to Luke’s new room, leaving a disgusted and definitely traumatized Jack Hughes in the living room.

locker room | luke hughes
Tumblr media
summary: you find an angry luke in the locker room after a loss and figure out exactly how to help him.
warnings: 18+!!!! SMUT. oral (m receiving), swearing, slightly angry luke, whimpering, begging if you look hard enough. a little fluff. poor rutger gets caught in the crossfire. pretty tame (just wait for my next one. it’s on its way.) not edited, i’m impatient
word count: 2.5k
A/N: hello! welcome to my new venture. i’ve not written anything like this before so please, give me some grace- and feedback, if you’d like. tell me how you feel, who you want me to write about, what you want me to write about. with that, let’s get into it, shall we?
18+ below the cut
you heard laughs echoing from the press stand where the opposing team was giving post game interviews. you scoffed as you strode by, muttering to yourself. absolute ref show.
the path to the locker room was second nature to you, ingrained in your head, as familiar as your own bed. you’d been there enough times. familiar faces passed you as players quickly headed out, a few gracing you with a look, even fewer with a smile. you smiled back at those who did. one caught your arm, a freshman who’s name you hadn’t learned yet, right as you were about to turn the final corner, and gave you a warning glance. “he’s really upset, y/n. really upset. just thought i’d warn you. i’m not sure if he’s sad upset or mad upset but regardless i figured i’d let you know.”
you knew this. you knew it the second the buzzer screeched at the end of the third and luke stormed off the bench, shaking his head. you knew when you heard a loud snap and then the angry voice of an equipment manager, scolding luke about breaking a stick.
you knew luke.
“thanks, kid.” he smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. you reached up to gently pat his shoulder; friendly, comforting. “hey, don’t do that. you played amazing. the refs were horrid.”
he nodded, releasing your arm and bringing his hand up to wipe under his nose, followed by a loud sniffle. at the same time, you heard a scoff echo from around the corner and turned your head to find a brown, curly head and a bare shoulder disappearing back through the locker room door.
the freshman- who’s name you still couldn’t remember- looked at you, panicked. you just huffed out a sigh and drew your hand away from his shoulder. “oh, goodie.”
“i- y/n, he’s gonna think- shit,” he breathed out, letting his head drop backwards.
“hey, whatever he thinks doesn’t mean shit because it’s not true. he’s upset anyways and now he’s gonna spiral cause he thinks i’m messing with his freshman teammate. so, good game, honestly, but i’m gonna go figure out that situation before it’s too late.” you rushed out, pointing towards where luke’s head had disappeared to.
the freshman- you really had to learn his name- nodded and muttered a tiny ‘bye’ before making his way down the rest of the hall. you offered a quick wave as you stepped around the corner and pushed the door to the locker room open.
upon your immediate surveillance, there was no luke. but, you heard water streaming against tile, and the showers don’t shut off or turn on automatically, so that means that someone turned it on and was still in there. you did a quick second scan of the stalls, and upon seeing that everyone’s jerseys were hung up, bags folded, and there were no shoes resting underneath a stall- except luke’s- decided that it must be, could only be, luke in the shower.
“luke?” you called, making your way across the maize and blue carpeting.
“in here,” he answered, voice clipped. impatient. upset.
“can i come in?”
“yeah, i don’t care. ‘less you have rut with you, in which case, stay out there.”
“rut?” who the hell names their child rut?
“rutger, honey. my replacement, apparently.”
you surmised that rutger must be the freshman, and decided that yes, rutger was a name you’d have a hard time remembering.
“baby, he’s not your replacement. we were just talking.” the water shut off as you were talking and you heard bare feet slapping against the wet tile, followed by a low ‘fuck.’
“why are you swearing, lu?” you wondered, taking another stop towards the showers.
“forgot my towel. would you grab it for me? it’s hanging in my stall.”
you chuckled, walking back towards his stall and grabbing the towel. it was rough, pilled. threadbare on one end. “ew. gotta get you a new towel, babe.” you giggled, sticking your finger through a hole in the corner and turning, wiggling it at him.
“can you just bring it over here you weirdo?” he grumbled, but a small smile graced his lips as he poked his head around the wall.
“can i explain?”
“honey, i’m soaking wet. can it wait?” still upset, then.
“no.”
“go, then.” he bit out, exasperated, angrily gesturing at you to explain. you made a face at him before speaking.
“he was just warning me that you were upset, lu. i was thanking him and he looked sad so i told him he played well and that it was a ref show, ‘kay? just talking.” you finished, tossing the towel to him. his head disappeared behind the wall briefly before he made his way fully out, towel wrapped around his hips.
“alright. just don’t want him getting any ideas.”
“wait, lu, doesn’t he have a girlfriend? i swear, one of the freshmen this year has a girlfriend.” you thought out loud, following him towards his stall before plopping yourself onto the ground, electing to sit rather than stand as he got dry and dressed.
“oh. yeah.”
you laughed without humor, watching his back flex as he undid and redid the towel around his waist.
“glad i got you that shitty towel. didn’t feel like getting dripped all over, if i’m being honest.” you said, pulling your knees to your chest and resting your chin on them.
luke froze, turning his head with a devilish smile on his lips. your playful expression dropped as he turned all the way around, water slowly trailing down the planes of his chest. you gulped.
“lu, don’t even think about it- LUKE!” you started, trying to get up, but it was to no avail, because in a split second he was standing over you, shaking his head like a dog, sending water all over you- and the rest of the locker room, for that matter. “you little shit!” you screeched, holding your hands up to your face, the water splattering unceremoniously on you.
you heard his hoarse laugh as he finished tormenting you, turning back to his stall and pulling a sweatshirt over his body. you heard the rustling of fabric as he reached into his bag and pulled out a pair of sweatpants. your hands still covered your face, trying to be prepared if your child of a boyfriend got a second wind, but by the wet thump of the towel against the ground, you assumed he’d pulled the sweatpants on.
“i’m not gonna splash you again, baby. you can move your hands.” luke said, his voice calmer than it was a few minutes ago.
“why aren’t you putting your suit back on?” you asked, taking in his outfit.
“not going out the front, so nobody’s gonna see. just gonna go out the back, s’where i parked anyways.” he spoke towards the ground, pulling on socks and slipping his feet into a worn pair of birkenstocks.
“nobody’s even here anymore,” you added absentmindedly, looking down at your apple watch. 11:37. “it’s late.”
“yeah, honey, i know. you got a date with rutger at 11:45 or something?” he mumbled, the sass making its way back into his voice at in response to your apparently stupid statement.
“oh well, pardon me, mr. perfect. wasn’t sure if you were too busy being mad at me for talking to someone to look at your watch. oh, boy, am i excited to walk to the car, freezing and wet with your mopey ass.” you cut out, voice raising at the end, having had enough of him. “i get that you’re upset about losing but come on, luke. he’s got a girlfriend, he’s younger than me, and i would never do that to you.”
“oh, so you admit that i was right for thinking that? you’re defending yourself pretty heavily, y/n, i dunno. you sure he’s not waiting for you?” he whipped around. there was no more playfulness.
“you’re kidding, right?” you returned, voice emotionless.
he simply shrugged, nostrils flared slightly, anger written all over him. tense shoulders, arms crossed. wide stance.
“god, luke, you’re such a child sometimes.”
“oh, i’m a child for being protective over my girlfriend, but it’s fine for you to get all up on him and touch his arm? fucking double standard if you ask me.” he was harsh, accusatory.
your mouth dropped, incredulous at his words, but more so his tone. “don’t you fucking DARE talk to me like that. once you’re thinking straight and decide to not be an asshole, text me. i’m gonna go to my dorm tonight.”
you shook your head, pulling your phone out of your pocket and clicking into snapchat, swiping into your roommate’s chat, starting to type a message to her to ask her to pick you up, but you felt a hand close around your arm, spinning you back. you were ready to fire off more words but said words were nipped in the bud as you felt luke’s mouth on yours, hot and heavy. any anger you had took a backseat as you felt his tongue on yours, his hands finding their place on your hips, pulling you into him.
he kissed you desperately, hard enough to almost hurt. you moaned when he bit lightly on your lip, sticking the tip of your tongue out to flick his upper lip. a type of retribution. something between a moan and a growl clawed it’s way from his throat, angry and ready to be released.
you pulled away, shoving him firmly backwards by the chest. his eyes were apologetic and he looked like her was about to say something but you quieted him by pushing him down into the bench in front of his stall. “talk later,” you muttered, kneeling in front of him.
“baby, i was mean to you, you don’t have to-” he cut himself off as you undid his sweatpants and pulled him out, felt him heavy in your hand. you pulled slow, languid strokes over his cock, relished the way his head tipped back, the way his adams apple bobbed, the way he whimpered when your thumb ghosted over his angry tip. you grinned at the noise, deciding to tease him even more. his breath caught in his throat, a wet, choked, noise, as you dragged your tongue across his slit, letting your saliva mix with the precum that was gushing out of him. he looked down at you then, bringing a hand to the back of your head to gather your hair. “don’t tease me, baby. can’t take it.”
“gotta ask nice, pretty boy.”
“please, y/n. i need your mouth, i need to feel you on my cock, please.”
a wicked grin carved itself onto your face as you spat into your hand and gave him three long, hard strokes from the base. “all you had to do was ask, lu.” you purred, taking him into your mouth, moaning around him at the taste, the weight, the relief of feeling him in your mouth, on you tongue.
you heard his head thump against the wood of the stall, his breathing ragged as your moan vibrated around him. you felt him twitch in your mouth as you pressed your tongue flat against the underside of his dick and swallowed around him, curses falling from his lips.
“god, y/n, not gonna last. take me so good, baby,” he cut out, voice strained as he bucked into your mouth, hips and words stuttering in some sort of fucked up prayer to your mouth.
you smiled as much as you could with a mouth full of dick, moaning around him to try to get him there faster. his fist tightened in your hair and a whine escaped your lips, buzzing on his cock.
you looked up at him through your lashes, saw the flush on his neck making his way up to his cheeks, pride in the fact that you made him like that, that you could have him like this. that you could reduce him to a moaning, whimpering mess with only your mouth. you moaned at the mere thought, feeling him swell in your mouth.
you tapped his thigh twice, knowing he was getting close. his eyes met yours, hazy and hooded and drowning in lust, in you. you nodded, wanting, needing to see him when he finished.
his chest heaved, eyes trained on you as you worked him, bobbing up and down his cock, spit coating him at the base.
“fuck, y/n, look so pretty like this. so pretty, baby.” he whimpered, impossibly close. you moaned around him, long and loud, wanting to taste him. “so close, baby, so close.”
you took a deep breath, steadying yourself, before pushing your head down further, feeling his head hit the back of your throat, your nose pressing into the soft skin of his pelvis, feeling him tense under you. a long, drawn out call of your name left his lips as you swallowed around him, trying not to choke.
“fuck, gonna cum,” he whispered, lightly pushing his hips into your mouth, thighs shaking as he finally let go, warmth filling your mouth, his cock jumping wildly. you moaned, tasting him, feeling his hot cum coat your tongue and throat, swallowing it down as much as you could with his dick still in your mouth. he hissed, pulling your head off, overstimulated. you swallowed again, not wanting to miss a drop, settling back onto your knees, looking at him trying to collect himself.
“you still mad?” you quipped, cocking your head. he rolled his eyes at you, still trying to catch his breath as he tucked himself back into his pants. “gonna take that as a no,” you answered yourself, pushing yourself up, brushing your hands over your knees, feeling the imprint of the carpet and your jeans on the skin.
he stood up, gathering you into his arms and pulling your head into his chest. you nestled your head there, arms draping lazily around his waist, leaning all your weight onto him, the lateness of this rendezvous catching up with you. you smiled into the softness of his hoodie. “i’m sorry, babe. just get jealous, you know how i am.”
“i know, lukey. it’s okay. but you know i would never do that to you, to us, so i got defensive.”
he pressed a quick kiss into your hair, muttering an ‘i know,’ tapping your butt lightly so you would jump. you did so, weakly wrapping your legs around his waist, clinging to him lightly, knowing he had you. you rested your head on his shoulder, pressing a light kiss to the column of his throat. “can we go home? i’m tired.”
he smiled, readjusting you so he could grab his keys from the hook in his stall. “‘course we can, baby.” he kissed the side of your face, and you felt the smile still gracing his lips.

🫧 Can you write #15 with Quinn Hughes? Thank you!! :)
the proposal - q. hughes
A/N: Once again, college has been so busy that I haven’t had any time to post 😭 Hope you enjoy this, it’s more of a real imagine than a blurb to make up for the long wait! Love you guys :))
Tumblr media
You woke up to the summer breeze rustling through your curtains. Your afternoon nap had replenished your energy from your morning out on the boat with Quinn. You had arrived at Quinn and Jack’s lake house just a few days earlier, and Jack had arrived last night. Now, you were waiting on Luke to get in this evening to round out your little group.
You stretched out to find the bed empty, but your hand brushed a piece of paper on Quinn’s side of the bed. To Y/N, it said. You blearily picked it up and read the message inside.
Pick you up for dinner at 6. Dress fancy :)
Love,
Quinn
You giggled at the note, at how adorable it was. You and Quinn were literally staying at the same house but his little plan made you smile. This summer would mark the fourth year that you and Quinn had been together and the first since you two had moved in together. You couldn’t imagine doing life without him anymore.
You picked out a light green slip dress from your closet, one of Quinn’s favorites on you. With the two hours you had left, you put on some makeup and did your hair. You loved that Quinn always made spending time with you a priority in your relationship, even when you had gone on just about every date imaginable.
You walked downstairs at 5:45, not sure what to expect. Jack was sitting at the kitchen counter, scrolling on his phone. He looked up immediately when he heard your heels clicking on the floor, grinning at you like a five year old with a secret.
“Why are you smiling at me like that, Jack?” You chuckled, a little suspicious.
“No reason!” Jack said quickly. “But Quinn will be here soon, he just texted me.”
You nodded and pulled out your phone to check. Quinn had also sent you a message that you had missed.
From: quinn❤️
On my way, see you in a few
You said goodbye to Jack and went to wait outside for Quinn. Before you left for Michigan, you had gotten your nails done and made sure to pack some of your favorite outfits just in case a special night like tonight happened. You raised your left hand and your various rings shone in the light, but your ring finger still remained bare. You let out a sigh, trying not to get your hopes up in case tonight wasn’t the night. After four years together, you knew Quinn was the one, you just had to wait for the big moment now.
Quinn pulling up drew you from your thoughts a few moments later. He honked the horn of the beautiful cream colored vintage convertible he had rented for the night. He hopped out and came to walk you to the car, giving you a quick kiss.
“There’s my gorgeous date for the night,” he said proudly. His comment made your cheeks heat up and you marveled at the way he could still make you blush, even after knowing him for years.
“You don’t look too bad yourself, especially in this fancy car,” you said as he opened your car door for you. Quinn had always been a gentleman to you, it was one of the things you loved most about him. He never failed to make you feel special.
“So, where does this mystery date take place, Captain Hughes?”
Quinn just shook his head as he drove. His hair was blowing softly in the breeze and the summer sun highlighted his features beautifully. You were so gone for this man.
“Can’t spoil the surprise just yet, babe.”
Twenty minutes later, Quinn pulled up to a small restaurant right on the lake. He led you inside and the hostess quickly brought you to a table in a small gazebo, right near the water.
Quinn quickly pulled out your chair for you to sit in and you giggled at his actions. He had always been chivalrous, opening doors for you, pulling out your seat. It was something you had never experienced from guys before Quinn and now you hoped you’d never have to live without it.
You reached for his hand across the table once he sat down, yearning for his touch. His hand found yours and he smiled.
“Hi babe,” he said quietly. It was only the two of you for a good twenty feet, so you couldn’t hear anyone else’s conversations, and you doubt they could hear yours, but leave it to your Quinn to still be soft spoken and sweet.
“Hi Quinny,” you said shyly. “Can’t believe you got a spot here for dinner.”
Quinn knew this restaurant was one of your favorites. It was the place three years ago where he asked you to be his girlfriend. You had an inkling that he had an important question for you tonight.
“Yeah, just wanted to bring you back to where it all started,” he said. “Remember when I asked you do be my girlfriend? I was so nervous that day.”
You could tell he was nervous again and almost started to tease him about, but a waiter came up before you could ask. The meal got underway and you didn’t get to bring it up again. The two of you talked about anything and everything, just like you always did.
Quinn had checked his phone a few times during dinner, typing away on his screen before returning to the conversation.
“Something important on there, babe?” You asked.
“Uh, just some texts about hockey stuff,” he smiled back nervously. You knew he was always busy with captain duties, but you had a feeling that he wasn’t actually texting anyone about hockey. Regardless, you nodded and finished your dinner, which was absolutely delicious as always.
The sun had started to paint the sky hues of pink and purple and you smiled at the beautiful view of the sunset over the lake. This could be the night that you become Quinn’s fiancée. The thoughts swarmed your mind and sent tears to your eyes. You loved Quinn so much, you just didn’t want to wait any longer.
“Y/N?” Quinn drew you from your thoughts.
“Hmm?” You tried not to act like you were totally distracted, but it wasn’t easy. Quinn titled his head like a confused puppy.
“You alright? You looked sad,” he said.
“Yeah, I was just thinking about us,” you said, smiling at him. “I’m the luckiest girl ever.”
“Well, I’m the luckiest guy ever.”
You could tell Quinn got a little startled at your words and how close you were to tears. He thought you had figured him out. He ate the last few bites on his plate as you did the same, and asked if you wanted to go down by the restaurant’s dock with him.
“Sure, but can I run to the bathroom first?” You asked, and he stood up quickly to pull your chair out for you so you could go inside.
“Uh, sure! I mean, yeah, of course, I will just wait here,” he said, tripping over his words.
He watched as you started to walk away from the gazebo and towards the main building and he hastily pulled out his phone. Clicking Jack’s number, he prayed his younger brother would answer in time.
“Yo,” Jack answered.
“Get back in the car or hide or something! She’s coming into the restaurant right now!”
Quinn heard a few curses and some bottles clinking as he assumed Jack and Luke were trying to get up from the bar or a table and get out of the restaurant.
“She’s going in the door near the ramp, so don’t go that way or she’ll see you.”
“We’re not, we’re outside on the patio,” Jack snapped. “You’re bossy when you’re nervous.”
Quinn rolled his eyes. He could make out two tall figures over on the patio deck who were waving at him. Jack had gone to pick Luke up from the airport and they both made their way to the restaurant, along with a photographer, to see their brother propose.
“I’m not nervous, I’m just,” but Quinn didn’t have an answer. Truthfully, he was nervous. He knew he had waited quite a while to propose, not ever doubting your relationship, but just waiting for the right moment. Quinn knew there were plenty of moments in Vancouver where he could’ve pulled out the ring he had picked out for you last year, but none of them seemed right. He wanted to propose to you at the spot where you became his girlfriend, with the beautiful lake and sunset in the background.
“Yeah, exactly,” Jack and Luke chuckled. “We’ve got the photographer waiting, she’s also excited. You got this, okay? She’s gonna say yes, she loves you, Quinn.”
Jack’s words calmed him down a little, and before he knew it, you were walking out of the restaurant. He quickly dropped the call and watched your dress shine in the evening sun. He couldn’t believe you would be his fiancée tonight.
Quinn stood to greet you, reaching for your hand, which you accepted.
“Look at how sweet they are, Quinn,” You passed by a few tables with some older couples, and your heart swelled in your chest. You hoped that would be you and Quinn someday.
Quinn just squeezed your hand, not able to say anything due to the lump in his throat.
“I hope that will be us someday, coming to the lake house and spending summers together.”
Quinn nodded and led you up the ramp, letting you go first so he could locate the photographer who gave him a small wave and thumbs up to indicate she was ready.
“Oh my god, Quinn, look at the sunset!” You walked to the edge of the dock, gazing out into the sky. You were so enamored that you didn’t realize that there were fairy lights adorning the wooden posts on the dock, which weren’t usually there. They twinkled in the waning light, and Quinn wished he was able to see how they lit up your face.
He kept a little distance between the two of you, standing to the side, just like him and the photographer had practiced the day before. Quinn reached into his pocket to grab the little velvet box. He quietly knelt down to your left side as you turned to the right and waited for his moment.
“Oh shoot, I think I left my phone at the table so I can’t take a-,” you said, turning to your left where you had felt Quinn’s presence. Unsurprisingly, he was there, since you could always tell where he was, but shockingly, he was down on one knee, staring at you.
“Quinn,” you said breathlessly, your hand coming to cover your gaping mouth.
“Y/N, I knew from the moment I met you that it was love at first sight. I knew that you were special, and that I would be lucky enough just to be your friend and have you in my life,” he said shakily. “I never thought a girl as beautiful and intelligent and perfect as you would ever walk into my life, but I’ve been so lucky to call you mine ever since.”
You couldn’t help the tears that welled in your eyes at this point. You had hoped for this moment for years, and there was no stopping the emotions now.
“I’m so grateful that you support me in my dreams and my job and I’m the proudest guy on the ice every time I know you’re up in the stands cheering me on. I could’ve never made it to where I am without you in my life, and I hope you know how much you mean to me,” Quinn said, getting choked up. “You complete my family, my life, and myself in a way that I didn’t think was possible, and I don’t ever want to do life without you.”
“I know I waited a long time to ask you this question, but I hope you know I just wanted everything to be perfect. And I thought asking you here, where it all began, was as perfect as it gets,” he said, opening the small box in his hands.
“Y/N L/N, will you marry me?” Quinn could barely get the words out of his mouth before you were nodding enthusiastically, your whole body shaking.
“Yes, Quinn, yes,” you said urgently. He chuckled nervously and placed the beautiful ring on your left ring finger. You had never put on a piece of jewelry that felt more right.
You pulled Quinn up to kiss him, and finally registered the clicks of the camera and the cheers coming from the restaurant, led by a pair of brothers you knew all too well.
“I knew you were planning something,” you giggled against his lips. “I love you so much Quinn.”
“I love you too, Y/N. Can’t wait to call you Mrs. Hughes someday.”

Sea Sickness
Sea Sickness
Luke Hughes x fem!reader (established relationship, but still new)
Idea: Reader gets nauseous from being on the boat at the Hughes’s Lake House and snuggles up to Luke.
Requested: Nope.
Author’s Note:  I know I’m bouncing around who I’m writing for, but I’m on a NHL spree right now. I also get nauseated if I'm on a boat or in the ocean for too long. Fun Fact: I wrote the beginning part of this on a note card while working by myself in the OR today. We had a really long case where I just had to check up on people during the middle of it (hence why I wrote this on a card because I don’t like going on my phone when I’m in the OR. It's unprofessional). I don’t know any of these people personally. The closest I’ve gotten to the team (that wasn’t just playing in the band at the games or when they were walking past us down the 2023 red carpet in tampa) was a tuba was talking to some of them in his plane row on the ride back from that trip (he ended up being the tuba you see in the senior picture from 2024) and one of the coaches had to share our bus on the way back from the 2023 frozen four game with his wife and two young daughters (I kept trying to get the younger one to smile at me unsuccessfully).  Someone from my hotel room also shared the elevator ride up with the entire Fantilli family the night they lost that game in 2023 (I think Adam also won the Hobey Baker award that same night). I’ve also been playing my lego lord of the rings game. Anyway, enjoy this little blurb.
Tagging some of my favorite Hughes/NHL writers, love y’all.

I forgot to mention that this is kinda based on the cute stuff @bedsyandco writes
I'm now sad when I'm uploading this because a friend from college drumline has an incurable brain cancer. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers (he's only 19 or 20).
Requests are still open.  Feedback is always appreciated.  Also, tell me if you want to be part of a Tag List and I’ll tag you when I upload something new. If you want to only be tagged when I upload something for a certain character or shows, let me know as well.
Warning: None, just general fluff. Feeling sick on a boat.

Being on a boat wasn’t your most favorite thing in the world, mainly because the last time you were on a boat, it got stuck in the middle of the laek and had to be towed back to shore (true story), but when your boyfriend Luke invited you to spend the weekend at the lakehouse with ihs brothers and friends, you weren't going to say no. The weekend had been filled with lots of eating, playing outside, and the boys being competitive at every game they pick up (even the old board game you brought to teach them how to play).  Just trying to keep up with them all was exhausting, so that’s how you ended up on the back of the boat enjoying the warm air instead of diving into the water again.  The boys had been going back and forth between wakeboarding and chatting on the boat deck. With them supplying the lake with plenty of waves, the constand up and down was starting to make your stomach sick.  You scooched over and made yourself comfortable laying your head on Luke’s shoulder.  He then opened his arms and wrapped you in his warm embrace so you could crawl on his lap and snuggle closer to his chest.
“You feeling ok?”
“Yeah, just want to stop the constant movement.” It was getting to a point were you just wanted to stop the constant movement.  It being really hot out didn’t help either.
“We’ll head to shore soon. Then we can cool off inside.”
Being wrapped up in Luke’s embrace with his fingers gently carding through your hair or down your shoulder leaving goosebumps in their wake and shading you with his fit body definitely helped keep your mind off of your stomach and the boat’s ever shifting movements.  Luke wasn’t much of a pda person, but you always encouraged him to show little bits of it at least in front of his family or close friends.
Little did you know, that’s exactly who was eyeing the interaction.  Jack, Quinn, Trevor, Cole, and Dylan all had stopped what they were talking about in favor of watching the interaction between you two.  Eventhough they were not all related, they felt like proud older brothers seeing Luke be so considerate and affectionate in front of them.  Of couse they’re all going to tease him relentlessly later about this, but they were gentlemen in regards to respecting the timing and the moment.
“Just lay down and close your eyes. We’ll be on shore soon.”  You snuggled deeper into Luke’s neck keeping your eyes closed and focused on his soft skin, his natural scent, and the way his warm body curled around yours. He even tugged on your legs to pull you fully into his lap as his large frame wrapped around your body fully encasing you in his warmth and comfort.
Nothing better than enjoying the summer with those you love.

More Hearts Than Mine -His Brother Comes Home Early
~More Hearts Than Mine by Ingrid Andress~
Author's Note: i've got nothing Summary: Jack walks in on Luke and Y/N Warnings: Implied smut and swearing I think Word Count: 1,736 Luke Hughes x fm!reader
Tumblr media
It was a rare evening where they were staying at Luke’s apartment. It was rare since Jack was usually home. Tonight, he was supposed to be staying with a new girl he was seeing. Jack seemed super interested in her, more than any girl in the last year that she’s known him.
They were laying on the couch watching the first Scream movie. He was laying on top of her, his head rested on her chest as she was running her fingers through his hair. This was one of her favorite movies of all time and to her surprise Luke has never seen the movie.
“Suprise Sydney,” Stu said on the screen. It was the turning point of the movie, it was also one of the most shocking reveals in cinema history. At least she liked to think so. She felt her heart race like it does every single time she watches it.
Luke didn’t react at all, “Nothing?” she asked, offended as she shook his head slightly. He chuckled as he lifted his head to meet her gaze.
“It was a little obvious,” he muttered before he shifted his gaze back towards the TV. she shook her head with disapproval as she looked towards the screen.
“It was not! How could you say that!?” she spoke dramatically as Luke tilted his head to look towards her. She widened her eyes as she stared into his eyes.
“He was weird the entire movie, come on,” he argued back with a wide smile. She clenched her jaw as she pursed her lips forward. She looked back towards the screen. He lifted his body from hers and stood up from the couch.
“Where are you going?” she asked as she sat up and curled her knees to her chest. “This is the best part of the movie,” she mumbled, pouting her lips.
“She lives, they die, right?” he said as he leaned his hands against the counter. Her mouth fell open as she stared into his eyes from across the apartment. She crossed her arms over her chest as she pouted her lips again.
“You’re no fun,” she mumbled before watching the movie again. He dropped his head while letting out a dry chuckle. “You’re just jealous that they’re hotter than you,” she muttered as she fought off the smirk forming on her lips.
His mouth fell open as he stared towards her as he started laughing. “Now that was mean,” he let out as he took a bottle of water from the fridge and tossed it towards her before he took a hold of his own. She caught and took a sip before she rested it onto the coffee table.
“You disrespected my favorite movie of all time,” she snapped playfully as he collapsed beside her. She opened her legs, allowing him to rest his head between her legs. She ran her fingers through his hair.
“I didn’t say it was a bad movie, I just said it was predictable,” he countered before pressing his lips against her inner thigh. “I thought it was going to be scary,” he mumbled as he leaned his head back trying to meet her gaze. She smiled softly when she met his light eyes.
“There’s five more movies in the franchise, we’ve got a long night ahead,” she said as she continued running her fingers through his hair. He hummed as he turned his head pressing kisses to her thigh. He slowly pressed wet kisses against her skin, trailing his tongue along her inner thigh. She tilted her head back, “Luke,” she let out, holding her breath.
“What?” he asked knowingly as he slowly rotated his body to be hovering over her. He held himself up by resting his forearm beside her head. He scanned her features as he pulled his lips between his teeth.
His nose bumped against hers before she reached her hand to take a hold of the back of his neck, running her fingers through the ends of his hair. It was longer, something she loved about him.
“The movie,” she whispered as she met his gaze. He hummed as he leaned down and pressed his lips against her jawline. He pulled away for a second as he leaned down and began sucking the skin on her neck. Biting down and running his tongue along the quickly reddening spot, “No-no hickeys,” she muttered as she tapped her hand against his neck. He hummed against her skin as he lifted his gaze to look down towards her.
He quickly pressed his lips against hers as she bucked her hips up against him, “A little late,” he muttered against her lips and she giggled as he pressed his lips against hers urgently. His tongue circled hers before he pulled away, lowering his lips from her own down her neck, needing to mark more of her body.
“Luke, you have to st-stop,” she moaned out as he reluctantly lifted his head to look down towards her. “What if Jack comes home?” she asked as she ran her hand across his cheek.
“He said he’s staying the night at his girl’s place, we’re going to be fine,” he whispered in her ear. She smirked as he leaned backwards slightly, pulling his shirt from his body, tossing it on the floor beside them. He urgently leaned down and kissed her passionately.
His hand started tugging at the hem of her t-shirt, riding it up her body. His hand caressed the exposed skin of her stomach. He bit her bottom lip as she tilted her head back. He smiled as he pulled away from her tugging her shirt up, she sat up allowing him to pull her shirt from her body. She leaned her body back down as he slammed his lips against hers.
They stayed in that position for a while, lips swollen, breathless. He lifted his head as he looked down towards her. Breathing heavily, “You’re so beautiful,” he mumbled as he bumped his nose against hers. She smiled widely as she caressed the skin of his cheek. He kissed her again.
After a few seconds, the front door to the apartment was being unlocked and pushed open. Jack walked into the apartment, cussing to himself as he kept his gaze low.
Luke and Y/N were still kissing as they didn’t hear Jack walk in.
Jack lifted his gaze as he saw his younger brother on top of his girlfriend, “Oh my god!” he groaned out. Luke pulled away from her, panicked. “Oh my god, guys really?! On my couch!” he shouted as he covered his hand over his eyes.
“Dude you weren’t supposed to be home!” he shouted as he reached beside him, handing her the shirt that was on the floor. She quickly covered her frame with her shirt as she crossed her arms over her chest, keeping her gaze on the floor.
“You have a bedroom!” he shouted, still covering his eyes with his hand. Luke pulled the shirt over his head as he glanced towards Y/N. “That’s my couch!” he shouted.
“You can move your hand from her face,” Y/N mumbled as she glanced towards Jack. He shook his head.
“I’m trying to unsee what I just saw,” he muttered, “Why aren’t you guys at her apartment?” he let out while rubbing his hand against his eyes.
“You were supposed to be gone for the night!” Luke countered again as he ran his hand across his nose, “What happened with Olivia?” he asked as he took a step around the couch towards Jack, glancing towards Y/N every second.
“I said something dumb and she told me to go home,” he let out, finally pulling his hand away from his eyes. He met Luke’s gaze, his face scrunching up in disgust. “When did you start having sex? You’re like-” he said, before he shook his head.
“We weren’t having s-”
“I don’t actually want to know, just keep it out of my sight,” he said while nervously laughing. He glanced towards Y/N, who was still avoiding his gaze. “I didn’t see anything, I mean I didn’t see you-”
“It’s fine, Jack, really,” she mumbled, Luke stared towards her. Nervously pressing his lips together. “I’m gonna-” she let out before she took a hold of her phone and wandered towards his room down the hall. Luke met Jack’s gaze, while clenching his jaw.
“We weren’t really doing anything,” Luke mumbled as he glanced towards the floor. Jack rolled his eyes as he fought the smirk toying to his lips. “I’m gonna go to my room,” he mumbled as he began walking down the hall.
“At least play some music, so I don’t hear anything!” Jack teased as he walked towards his bedroom. Luke walked into hisbedroom to see Y/N laying on his bed, she faced the door. Clenching her jaw once she saw him.
She dropped her gaze towards her hands as she fiddled with the rings on her fingers. “Are you okay?” he asked as he locked his bedroom door, his eyes looked her frame up and down, she simply nodded. “I’m sorry,” he muttered as he climbed over her, laying beside her. Her body was facing away from him.
“Not your fault,” she muttered as she kept her body away from his. He could tell she didn’t want to be touched at that moment.
“Are you mad?” he asked delicately, running his finger along the fabric of her back.
“Embarrassed mostly,” she muttered as she brushed a few pieces of hair away from her face. He hummed as he wrapped his arm around her waist, resting his hand on her stomach. He pulled her towards him. She ran her hand over his as she slowly glided her fingers up his arm.
“I’ve walked in on him doing a lot worse than what we were doing, he’ll get over it,” he whispered against her ear before he delicately pressed his lips to her shoulder before he continued running his hand from her hip towards her stomach, back and forth.
“We’re never doing anything on a couch again,” she mumbled, he laughed as he shook his head.
“Well, when I move into your place, we won’t have to worry about anyone walking in on us,” he whispered. It was her turn to laugh.
“Cannot wait for that, my love,” she whispered.

ALL JOKES; luke hughes
• based when luke was still playing at umich
• you decide to play a little prank on your bf where you call him your brother after you kiss him
Tumblr media
you were on tik tok way too much. and luke was too but definitely not as much as you. he wasn’t on it to the point where he saw the lastest couple pranks when they were still very popular. so of course as his amazing girlfriend you had to pull a little prank on your boyfriend whom you loved so much.
you were sitting on the couch in the house luke shared with some of his hockey buddies. a few of them were sat on other parts of the couch watching tv with heir girlfriends who were going from talking with you and then talking with their respective boyfriends while you sat with a single headphone in on tik tok. luke had sat next to you mere moments before until he had to use the bathroom.
it was perfect timing because that’s when the tik tok pulled up on your “for you page” and gave you the idea to mess with your boyfriend.
the tik tok was of a girlfriend next to her boyfriend. she said some words and then turned to him, he kissed her and she said the words to the camera: “best big brother ever!” and he started laughing.
obviously, you began to think how luke would react to this and knew you had to film this tik tok for yourself.
luke walked out from the bathroom and began to walk over to you till you stood up “babe come here.” you told luke and like a puppy he followed you into the kitchen which was right next to the living room.
you set up your phone and turned to luke who looked at you confused. in the corner of your eye you could also see mark, ethan, seamus and gavin giving y’all some questionable looks. everyone else payed somewhat attention to the both of you with their eyes still trained on the tv.
“okay so when i turn around just kiss me.” you smile up at luke. he was pretty tall compared to you (actually very tall compared to you) so to the camera it was a funny shot.
“okay..” luke gave you a suspicious glance as he watched you step forward to press play. when you backed up in front of luke you began to giggle which made the boys in the living room chuckle and luke laugh at you suspiciously, he knew you had something planned.
“if you wanna get to me, you have to get through him first.” you managed to get out through your giggles.
“preach!” one of the boys yelled from the living room, the culprit being duke tucker. mark let out a laugh at this. the two knew this tik tok and had their eyes glued to the scene.
you turned around to luke and on cue he gave you a kiss. he tried to make it go on for longer but because of the audience before you and the fact that you were in the middle of a tik tok, you broke the kiss and turned back to the camera. “best big brother ever.” you tried to keep a straight face. from behind you both, the boys broke out in laughter and you wish you could rewatch luke’s reaction over and over again like it was the first time.
his jaw dropped as he looked at you and then proceeded to look around awkwardly. “i am not your brother.” his lack of words made the event even funnier to you and all his friends as well. the girls were laughing too and it made the scene all the greater.
luke didn’t know what to do so he grabbed your waist from behind and pulled you into a bear hug “brother?” he laughed “brother?” he repeated, still in disbelief.
“woah big bro you’re getting a little too close there.” luca shouted.
“shut up.” luke laughed as he kissed you “look at what you started.”
“STOP KISSING YOUR SISTER LUKE.”
“SHUT THE FUCK UP.”

happy holidays
Tumblr media
summary: it’s the holiday season and the boys just had to make sure it was special for you and charlotte
word count: 1.2k
notes: happy holidays!! i felt like bringing back team baby, so here it is :)
“move it a little bit to the left,” brendan instructed, gesturing for thomas to adjust the star on top of the tree sitting in their living room. “are you serious?” thomas asked, looking at his friend. “yes! it’s crooked! right char?” the brisson boy asked the toddler who was perched on his hip. “yeah it’s not very straight bubba,”  the young girl agreed, tilting her head to get a better look at the tree. “see! even she agrees!” brendan continued, gesturing for thomas to fix the star.
“what’s going on?” luke asked as he walked into the room with mackie and mark. the other two boys immediately flocked to brendan’s side, poking at charlotte. she laughed at all the attention before ultimately reaching for mackie. the younger boy complied, taking the young girl into his arms. “you better not be high mack, or else y/n will kill us,” thomas said, climbing down from the ladder he was standing on. “i’m not,” the younger boy answered, but that didn’t stop thomas’s eyes from narrowing in his direction.
just as mackie was about to defend himself, your voice resonated throughout the house. “we’re back,” you said, walking into the living room, arms filled with bags. owen and kent followed behind you, their arms also full with various bags adorning different logos. “mummy!” charlotte shouted, wiggling out of mackie’s arms so that she could run into your open ones. “hi baby. we’re you good for your uncles?” you asked, pulling her into you as you kissed all over her face. “yes,” she answered, laughing at your actions.
“she was fine. aside from agreeing with uncle bren” thomas teased, tickling her tummy. charlotte giggled loudly at his actions, desperately trying to escape his fingers. once the two were done goofing off, thomas turned his attention to you. he placed a sweet kiss on your cheek before gathering the bags you dropped. “thank you,” you whispered, puckering your lips as he held the bags in one hand.
“ew!” charlotte whined, hiding her face in her hands. her outburst caused everyone to laugh, but put an immediate end to the pda between you and thomas. “should we start with the festivities?” brendan asked, looking around the room at the small group. charlotte frowned, crossing her arms over her chest as she shook her head no. “not everyone is here. like nicky, and johnny, and uncle matty. we have to wait,” she answered, looking at brendan. the guys all snickered at her words, watching as charlotte completely parented him. “fine, but once everyone gets here we can start,” brendan said, and charlotte nodded in agreement before running off to do something.
even though everyone was off playing hockey at different places, they all managed to come back to campus for the holiday. you were still going to make it to your childhood home for the actual holidays, but the boys all wanted to do something with charlotte. hence, they all decided to have this small get together at your off campus house. “we all have gifts to give her. can we do it tonight? please?” brendan begged, looking at you with puppy dog eyes. “i told you no gifts,” you mumbled, giving them all a pointed look. “well those of us on nhl salaries wanted to spoil her, so too bad,” owen said, looking at you with a challenging look. you grumbled something under your breath, but it quickly ceased when charlotte skipped back into the room, a stack of cards in her hands.
“mummy, can you help me?” she whispered, pulling on your shirt. “course baby,” you answered, kneeling down to her level. charlotte handed you the stack of cards, sorting through them. “are they all here?” you asked, waiting for her to answer. “i think. but i need to count,” she answered, and that’s how you all ended up circling around charlotte while she counted out how many cards were in her pile. by the time she was finished, everyone was at the house.
“okay! let’s begin with the exchange!” brendan announced, getting up to grab his gift. “no! i go first!” charlotte screamed, stopping brendan before he could even grab the pink gift bag. “charlotte rose we do not yell,” you reprimanded looking at her. “sorry mummy. i go first please,” she replied, looking sheepish. the boys all agreed, waiting patiently as charlotte grabbed the first card from your hands.
she went around the room, handing each boy a different homemade card. each of the cards was unique, but they were all decked out with glitter, toddler scribbles, and charlotte’s messy handwriting. once all the boys had a card, she stood next to you with a satisfied look on her face. “thank you fleur,” thomas mumbled, scooping her into his arms. “i’m gonna put this on my locker,” he promised, causing charlotte’s eyes to widen as she nodded excitedly.
“okay charlotte. we have some presents for you,” brendan said, holding out the giant gift bag. you watched as charlotte’s eyes grew to the size of saucers, an excited smile on her face. brendan handed her the gift bag and immediately she was tearing the wrapping paper out of it. a loud gasp echoed around the room as she pulled out a disney princess cash register. “mummy look!” she said, jumping up and down. “wow!” you answered, looking at the toy with amazement. you watched as charlotte began to push different buttons and listen to the different sounds. “char, keep looking in the bag,” brendan urged, causing the girl to turn her attention back to the bag in front if her.
another loud gasp resonated through the room as she pulled out a pack of barbies. they weren;t just any barbies, however, it was the entire collection of disney princess barbies ranging from cinderella to moana. “dollies!” she shouted, naming all the different princesses to ethan, who was sitting right next to her.
that’s exactly how the rest of the night went. each of the boys providing her with different toys that she loved. by the end of the night she had a ton of new barbies, a collection of bluey and peppa pig toys, a handful of new books, and a couple new outfits that the girlfriends picked out.
“okay so this last present isn’t for charlotte, it’s for you,” thomas said, handing you a box wrapped in the barbie wrapping paper they used for all her gifts. “you guys,” you mumbled, taking the box from thomas’s hands. “stop! we wanted to get you something,” kent said, holding up his hand. you nodded, carefully unwrapping the paper. you opened the box inside to find a navy blue book. “what is this?” you asked cautiously, pulling it out. your fingers ran over the spine and front cover as you opened the book.
immediately you were met with the picture you all took after the boys won the big ten championship. “oh you guys,” you whispered, fingers tracing over the photo. “there’s more,” luke said, gesturing for you to flip through the album. inside you found countless pictures. some featured just you and the boys, others were the boys with charlotte, and some were just you with charlotte. it was a reminder that they would always be there for you. you guys were family. “i love it. thank you so much,” you said, voice clogged with emotion. “we love you,” thomas whispered, wrapping his arms around you. “this doesn’t change the fact, however, that you spoil her way too much,” you said, wiping at your face. that elicited a laugh from everyone.

i miss you, i’m sorry: luke hughes
Tumblr media
It was the first day of summer for Luke. The devils had won the cup and he was elated. After the end of his college season, he hoped he could make a difference in the Devils and help them win.
Of course, he knew coming back to Michigan meant that he had to gather the rest of his belongings and move to Jersey. It also meant that he had to see you. Especially with how close you were to his team and his family.
As Luke looked out of his window he watched as the garden you spent your time in blurred by. Luke recalled the way he knew he could always find you out on the lawn with a book in hand as you got lost in a world of your own.
"Is she coming for the party tonight?" Ellen asked.
No one had to mention a name to know who their mother was talking about. Quinn gave his mother a curt nod in response as Luke let out a large sigh.
The younger Hughes boy leant his head against the window as he recalled simpler times.
Luke tracked your phone as he couldn't find you. Seeing as you usually answer his calls and texts Luke began worrying that something terrible had happened to you.
The two of you had plans for the afternoon and when you were ten minutes late, Luke assumed the worse. He gathered information from his friends on when they last saw you until Mark reminded him that he could use find my friends.
Luke let out a sigh of relief when he found you laying in the yard, your headphones on and a book in your hand. Of course, you would be outside. In your own words, a sunny day where there is a slight breeze is always good reading weather.
"Now what do we have here?" Luke teased as he took your headphones off.
You giggled before realising that the two of you were meant to go out. "Luke I'm so so sorry. I lost track of time and I guess my alarm didn't go off and I'm such a bad person," you rambled.
Your boyfriend shook his head as he chuckled. "Don't worry about it, baby. I was just worried something happened to you. Now about our date, what if I run over to the store and grab some of your favourite snacks and we have a picnic instead?"
And that is exactly what happened. Luke bought all of your favourite snacks and drinks and had you read your book to him as he admired your beauty.
When the Hughes family walked into their house, the two younger siblings were embraced in hugs and were given many forms of congratulations for their achievement.
Luke tried his hardest to keep his tears at bay as he was embraced by his Michigan teammates. The group had been there for every game of the final round cheering Luke on.
Yet, despite all the attention on him and Jack. Luke was still able to see you out of the corner of his eye. Your hair was shorter than when he left and your once radiant smile was diminished to a slight tug of your lips.
He wanted nothing more than to go up to you know and to tell you how he hated the way things ended. He hated the fact that he was taken from Tampa without so much as allowing himself to see you again.
Throughout the night, Luke tried to so much as say hello to you but he couldn't. Every time he thought he was getting close to you someone would swoop in and direct his attention somewhere.
So Luke did the only thing he could. He watched you.
He watched as Jack brought you in for a big hug. And how one of his previous teammates was always at your side, making you laugh.
But the one action that irked him the most was the way Quinn would find you wherever you were. The oldest Hughes brother would be by your side anytime you showed a sign of discomfort.
Quinn would always leave kisses on your head or rub your shoulders,
Luke hated it.
He hated the fact that you had replaced him. Especially as the replacement was his older brother. The man he looked up to.
After dinner, you had disappeared from Luke''s sight. He assumed you had gone back home but when he couldn't find his older brother either he went on a hunt.
"I don't think you understand Quinn. I am so proud of him but it hurts me that I can't be there for him in the way I want to be," you sobbed.
You were in Quinn's room as you couldn't hold onto your facade anymore. You had promised Ellen and Quinn that you would come tonight to support your best friend.
"He hurt me, Quinn," you whispered.
Luke's heart broke as he heard the tremble in your voice. At that moment he wanted you to know how much he missed you. He needed you to know how stupid he felt for breaking up with you.
How he would lay awake at night wishing you were by his side. How he wanted nothing more than for you to be in the stands with his family and how after they won the cup his first thoughts were about you.
Quinn knew his younger brother was outside his room. As the door was slightly open he saw Luke walk by and stop to hear what you were saying.
"Would you tell him?" Quinn asked.
You tilted your head in confusion as you looked up at the boy. "If Luke came in here right now, would you tell him how you feel because I know he regrets everything y/n/n?"
"When I stayed the night with him and Jack, I heard him crying. I heard him curse himself for breaking up with you. When they lost, he asked Mom if you were there because he hoped he could get one more chance to say goodbye. I know you're hurting y/n/n and I know you've built yourself up from what happened but don't throw away an opportunity where the two of you are happy. Especially if you are together," Quinn concluded.
The older boy gave you one last hug before he walked out of his room. Quinn looked over at his brother and gave him a small smile before walking away.
Luke waited until Quinn had walked downstairs before he knocked on the door. You called out that it was open so Luke slipped into the room and shut the door behind him.
"Hi," he breathed out.
You looked up at him and tears brimmed your eyes. Luke noticed immediately and made his way to you and wrapped his arms around you.
The comfort you found in his arms made you crumble as sobs left your mouth.
"It's okay, baby. I'm right here, I'm not leaving you again," Luke whispered.
"You left me," you muttered.
"You left me, Luke. You promised when it came to you leaving for Jersey that we would talk about it but you left. You said you needed a break and you walked out on us. You broke my heart," You told the boy.
Luke nodded and avoided eye contact. He too had tears welling in his eyes as he tried to think of a way to approach this conversation.
"I miss you," he whispered.
"I'm sorry I broke your heart y/n. I broke up with you because I thought I was protecting you. I thought that if we put an end to the relationship then maybe I wouldn't miss you so much when I'm in Jersey but I was wrong. God, I was so wrong because all I can think about is you,"
You didn't say anything, you just looked at Luke.
"I-I miss you, I'm sorry," Luke was about to leave the room but you grabbed his wrist.
You turned him to face you and cupped his face in your hands. Your thumb ran over his cheeks and wiped at the tears in his eyes as he looked down at you with adoration.
Luke wrapped his arms around your waist and brought you into his chest before leaning down, placing his lips on yours brining you into a gentle kiss.

𝐩𝐚𝐩𝐚 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐩𝐚 - 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐩𝐚
in which after going live with rutger on the umich insta account, your boyfriend comes home with new nickname
warnings: slight mention of sex at the end, not proofread
pairing: mark estapa x reader
Tumblr media
your eyes slowly opened as a bunch of guys could be hear entering the house. you had fallen asleep shortly after mark left, leaving a little later than the others since he wasn't practicing. you knew they were having their turkey showdown today, so the boys who lived in the house would be extra agitated when they got back.
"dude, im being honest, gavo had the best technic to level the ice." you heard your boyfriend's voice as the group appeared in the doorway of the living room. "hi, babe." the boy added with a smile when his eyes landed on your frame. you yawned strongly, blinking multiple times as you pushed yourself up from your laying position before sending them a wave.
"how was your turkey thing?" you mumbled as all the boys, including some who didn't live here, settled down on the multiple couches. mark sat next to you, throwing his arm around your shoulder, making you lean your head against his shoulder.
"you weren't on the live?" rutger asked, a frown on his face.
"do i look like i was on the live, rutger." you sassed, hinting at your appearance, and the fact that you had just woken up. your answer made a couple of the guys chuckle, including mark.
"you look like you got ran over." the nebraska native answered with a smirk, and soon a pillow flew his way.
"you look cute, baby." mark mumbled in your ear so only you could hear. you looked up at him, a shy smile on your face.
"papa estapa had a lot of fun." frank said from besides rutger, making all of the guys laugh once again. meanwhile, a look of confusion grew on your face as mark's face turned a bright shade of red.
"papa who now?"
"papa estapa." he repeated, only making all of them laugh even more.
"uhm... do i even wanna know?" you questioned, smiling awkwardly while mark avoided eye contact.
"you'd know if you were on the live."
"rutger, don't make me hit you." you warned him, already tired of the way he was acting.
"someone on the live commented that." mark answered your question, only making all of them laugh even harder.
"lots of girls like your papa estapa, y/n/n." rutger joked, and this time mark was able to stop you before throwing another pillow his way.
"you don't even live here!"
"papa estapa invited me." the blond boy said. he knew he was pushing your buttons, and that mark would give him hell for it the next, but he didn't care. he found the whole situation funny, especially since he was the one who found the comment, and your reaction was making it even better.
"whatever, im going to the bathroom." you mumbled harshly before standing up from your spot and exiting the living room. all of the boy's laughter died down when they saw the look on mark's face, who was staring straight into rutger's soul.
"didn't invite you over so you could be an asshole to my girlfriend, mcgroarty." mark said, his tone firm and strict. it wasn't until then that rutger realized how badly he has messed up. before he had the chance to say anything, mark was following in your footsteps.
when he made it up the stairs, he was the bathroom door wide open, while his was completely closed. he slowly approached it, knocking softly on it.
"baby, it's just me. can i come in?" the boy asked. when he heard you slur out a yes, he quietly entered the bedroom. you were laying in the middle of his bed, blankets thrown over your body so only your head was pecking out. "im sorry 'bout rut."
"don't be. i should've have lost my cool like that. they're all gonna think im a bitch now." you whispered as mark joined you under the warmth of the blankets. your head landed on his chest quickly as his arms wrapped around you, keeping you close.
"you're always a little grumpy when you wake up, especially if you get woken up. rutger knows that, he did it to himself." the room was silent after that, marks eyes slowly starting to close, while yours remained wide open.
"did someone actually call you papa estapa?" you asked, trying your best to hide your giggle. your question made mark's eyes fly open, chuckling lightly when he realized you were smiling against his chest.
"yeah."
"does she know you have a girlfriend?"
"baby, my insta account is pretty much a fan page of you at this point. im sure she knows."
"good. 'cause you're my papa estapa." you answered, pushing yourself off his chest and pressing a deep kiss to his lips.
"is that so?" your boyfriend asked with a cocky smirk when the two of you pulled away.
"not in that way, weirdo."
"but i could be."
"im not calling you papa estapa while we're having sex, mark!"

hey babe! can you do 1 from the fluff prompts for luke hughes? 🫶🏻 thank you!
1."come dance with me." (from this prompt list)
this is slightly self-indulgent in that i never get asked to dances and didn't go to my junior prom lol
tw: douchebag football player
the school was holding a prom of sorts, which was weird for a college, but nonetheless, students attended. you being one of them.
the only reason you went in the first place was that you were asked. if you weren't asked you wouldn't have gone.
you weren't the person to normally get asked to dances. you missed your junior prom 1. because it was too expensive and 2. because no one asked.
so when a football player asked you, you immediately said yes. well, you didn't immediately say yes, it took you a few days but you eventually said yes.
so, here you found yourself, sitting alone at a table while everyone else danced with their partners, "stupid." you muttered to yourself as you checked the time on your phone for what felt like the 10000th time.
you scoffed and stood up, making your way to the door, hoping no one would see the embarrassment on your face. unfortunately for you, someone did see.
luke did.
he was here with a group of his own friends and had heard through the grapevine that you had been waiting at the dance already for almost an hour, "who're you staring at?" eddy asked, and followed his line of sight over to you, "oh." eddy smirked.
"what?"
"nothing." he shook his head, "i think you should go over there."
"over there and do what?"
"i don't know. offer her a dance." eddy shrugged, pulled him up, and pushed him towards you.
you were sitting in the hallway, crying softly. you looked up when you heard his footsteps and tried to wipe the tears quickly, "you okay?" luke asked.
"yeah, all good." you nodded, avoiding eye contact.
"it's okay to not be okay, ya know?"
"i'm fine, really." you insisted.
"all right, i'll just sit here then." luke sat down next to you on the bench.
"you don't have to stay. i'm sure you were having fun," you told him.
"not really. you weren't there." he shrugged.
"yeah, sorry about that."
"don't be. you were asked, i would’ve said yes if asked.” he shrugged again.
“stop doing that.”
"what?" he asked.
"shrugging it off."
"what do you mean?"
"this doesn't happen to girls like me. i don't get asked to dances by the cool popular athletes. do you want to know where i spent my senior prom?"
"i know, you spent it watching movies with friends."
"no i didn't, luke. i spent it at home, alone, watching movies all by myself because all my friends already had dates."
"really? why didn't you tell me?"
"because you already hate a date," you told him, wiping the tears that managed to fall.
"well, if you'd have asked, i would've gone."
"i know." you nodded, "i had been putting out all these signs, hoping you'd notice, but i guess you never did because you went with kyra."
he stared at you, shocked by your admission, "are you serious?"
"this isn't something i'd lie about." you snapped.
"right, you're right. i'm sorry." he nodded, letting silence fall between you. you wiped your eyes, and stood up, "where're you going?"
"i'm going home, luke. i don't want to be here anymore. I'll see you soon, i guess."
"no, don't go yet." he panicked, wanting to spend more time with you.
"i really just want to go home, luke."
"come dance with me." he offered. you stared at him, trying to decipher his features.
"are you serious?"
"this isn't something i'd lie about." he repeated your words.
you smiled, the first real genuine smile of the night, and grabbed his hand, letting him lead you back into the giant room where your "prom" was being held.

strawberry wine: l. hughes
blurb: in which luke is teased for how he treats you, but he doesn’t mind. Not if all of it’s for you / word count: 1.3k / pairing: luke hughes x fem!reader
You hadn’t meant to fall in love with him at first. When you first met Luke— right in the middle of your freshman year at UMich, where you were trying to balance the precarious work-social life balance— it wasn’t love at first sight. No, you were way too pessimistic for that. Instead, the love you had garnered for the curly haired boy was gratuitous— it was a simmering feeling you felt every time he turned his gaze on you, everytime he checked in with you via text or phone call when he was away, and the feeling of his heartbeat as he laid on your chest— the reminder that, above all, he had put you first.
Falling in love with Luke wasn’t an automatic fairy-godmother thing, but it was magic all the same — it was the feeling of coming up for air after being submerged underwater, the feeling of being in the sun after being inside for too long. It was a feeling you wanted to be embraced with all the time, really.
Now, though, you were hearing the extent at which Luke loved you — in your sleep induced haze while your head laid on Luke’s chest, and your legs extended over his lap. The two of you had made your way to the Hughes Family lake house for the first few weeks of the summer, where you were joined by Quinn and Jack, as well as some of your and Luke’s mutual friends from UMich; all the people you cared about, all under one roof.
As the summer grew, and the first week turned into the second, you could only feel how much your love had grown for the boy with the curls— the boy who had somehow made falling in love with an all-consuming feeling that you never wanted to let go of.
Now, though, as you listened to the conversation around you, your almost-sleep was interrupted when you heard Jack call to Luke— saying something along the lines of something “being clear,” and picking up on some changes in Luke’s behavior.
Now almost fully awake, you didn’t want to make yourself entirely known— not just yet. Luke and you had spoken about what to expect on the trip— the teasing and remarks that were sure to come from his brothers, the jokes that were sure to come out of Trevor or Duker at one point, and even the overprotectiveness for the only other woman in the house from Ellen. Now, through, you could tell the conversation was fully about you— and Luke.
“I’m just saying, man,” you could hear Jack start. “We’ve never seen you this whipped before! It’s liek you’re an entirely new man, Moose,” he finished, to where you heard the rest of the boys add in their own agreements. You felt Luke pull you even closer when he said that, and could feel the hand on your calve resume its soft movements— mishappen shapes and letters that didn’t really mean anything, but that Luke had gotten into the habit of doing whenever you were around.
“Name one time where that’s happened,” Luke said. “I might be in love, but I haven’t changed,” he said, and oh god— he was in love with you! Even if you were still supposed to be asleep the sole notioon that he’d say it in front of the people whose opinions he cared about so deeply made your heart melt even more. The truth was, you were in love with Luke as much as he was in lovr with you — he was your rock, your safe place, and above all else, the person you looked for in anything; the one who had captured your heart and kept it as close as he could to his own.
“C’mon, dude, you literally put your hand on the table corner when she dropped her cup the other day, just so she wouldn’t hit her head,” Quinn said from the opposite chair. “And, not to mention, you literally called Mom right after your first date with her, just to ask her how you did, and to see if she could help you see whatever signs Y/N was givign you” the boys laughed. While you had picked up on the things Luke did for you— including making sure you were always safe, that second thing wasn’t something you were aware of. Sure, you were both nervous wrecks on your first date, but you found him charming— especially when he had shown up at your dorm smartly dressed, and had brought flowers not only for you, but for your roommate too.
“Plus, remember that time Coach made you do extra liners because you showed up to practice with a hickey on your neck?” Duker said. “Wasn’t that after your sixth-month anniversary, or something? When you rented that hotel room to, and I quote, “treat her how she deserves to be treated?” C’mon Hughes, you’re a sap!” he finished.
Duke was right; you remembered that date almost vividly. Luke had spent so much on a grand hotel room, had taken you out to dinner at a nice restaurant, and, in the privacy of your own room, had danced with you for the entire night— had spun you around and around until the two of you ended up tangled in the white sheets, kisses being shared like secrets, and leaving them like brands on the entire expanse of his chest, his neck, and his mouth. The two of you had drank a third of a bottle of strawberry wine before you ended up on your tiptoes, Luke spinning you and leading you around the expanse of the entire room, before ultimately taking it further.
That night, you had become his, and he had become yours in a way that you had never imagined possible; regardless of either of your past experiences, you had felt love strum between the two of you in, as cliche as it sounds — magical way.
“So what, I care about her! Look at her, and tell me you wouldn’t give it all up” Luke said, but you could tell he wasn’t mad in the slightest. Sure, he was getting chirped at, but it was all in good fun, and he understood that; it must have been a strange thing, for both of his older brothers to see him so in love, and so ready to be tied down to you, that he didn’t even mind the teasing.
Luke, for all his faults, loved you, and that much was entirely apparent every time he opened his mouth to talk about you— something he would do any chance he got, always finding a way to bring you up in his conversations.
“We know, dude, you’ve just become such a sap,” Jack added. “‘S making the rest of us wanna settle down too,” he said, laughing. It was true, in a way. Seeing their little brother so in love — so much so that he had almost put his hockey career on pause just to be able to graduate with you, and looked like Cupid had whacked him in the ass with an arrow every time he looked at you — they could clearly see the adoration he had for you; the bone deep understanding that you were his, and he was yours.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” he said, waving them away. Feeling like this was your cue to get up, however, now that the conversation had died down, you opened your eyes, and picked your head up slowly from his chest. Luke looked down at you immediately, his hand that was previously on your leg coming up to cup your chin.
“You okay there, honey?” he asked. You could only try to shake away the remaining sleep from your head, and smile up at him. Here was your boy — the one who had taken your heart and ran with it, who held you close, and who planned to never let go; the man you wanted to spend the rest of your days with, and who was willing to endure every single comment about your relationship just to keep you. You couldn’t have asked for anyone better —— you couldn’t have asked for anyone other than your Luke.
“Never better, baby. Never better.”
