If “artists” had any ability to actually critically think, they’d realize that AI art removes objections against 1) ending intellectual property 2) implementing an unconditional basic income.

MY FELLOW EUROPEANS
There is an European Citizens' Initiative going on which requests a Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) for everyone in the EU.
"Our aim is to establish the introduction of unconditional basic incomes throughout the EU which ensure every person’s material existence and opportunity to participate in society as part of its economic policy. This aim shall be reached while remaining within the competences conferred to the EU by the Treaties."
So if you are an EU citizen you might be very interested in signing for this! You only need to introduce your name, country and ID (it's legit so don't worry about anyone stealing your personal data).
Here's the link:

If you’re not an EU citizen or can’t sign please pass the info to EVERYONE you know, so they can help spread it!
(That means reblogging this, not just liking it ... )
If the EU manages to get this implemented, it could really improve quality of life for everyone not just those living in the EU.
If this get’s of the ground no western governemnt has an excuse to not at least try the UBI!

Why we're still not living in "Star Trek"
The way we now can interact with ChatGPT and Midjourney and all the other AIs strongly makes me think of "Star Trek". I mean, the people there are always like "Computer, give me a report on *whatevs*", "Computer, make a sketch of *so-and-so*".
And yet, we're not even remotely feeling like "Star Trek", are we? And I think that's because in "Star Trek" there's no such thing as capitalism. I can't remember any episode where it's stated clearly, but I always felt like everyone in the United Federation of Planets has unconditional basic income. And based on the discussions we are having now regarding AI art, I think that here might indeed be some important political decisions to make if we as a society wish to keep up with our technology.
Or so. I think I simply wish that some people in charge would watch more "Star Trek". And pay close attention.

Retirement pensions
Why should we pay pensions higher than average incomes to people who have earned their money by polluting without any solidarity with the rest of the people or with future generations (oil, nuclear, pharmaceutical industries, banks, etc.)?
If they earned more than the average salary when they were working, they were able to invest their money and benefit from it when they retired.
Why not opt for an unconditional / universal basic income with good health insurance that all citizens would receive, whatever their age? Then everyone would have their own strategy for increasing their income. In a rich country, there’s no reason why people shouldn’t be able to feed themselves, treat themselves and eat with dignity (organic permaculture)? Most of the poorest people are under 30. On the other hand, people who live in extreme poverty are over 60.
Why should elderly people be more deserving than people who devote themselves to their loved ones, to art, to social links, or than unemployed people who refuse to do unworthy work? What about the over-55s who no-one wants to work with and who are not yet old enough to retire? 73% of people receiving the minimum old-age pension are women. Prices are doubling every ten years, so pensioners no longer have enough to live on. As women live longer, they find themselves in poverty. We should abolish pensions, family allowances, the minimum income allowance (RSA), unemployment benefits, student grants and all the civil servants who manage them and who cost society so much, and introduce an unconditional universal basic income.

The richest 5% earn more than the other 50%. They are the ones who should pay, they are the ones who are not taxed.
We have to stop always taxing the same people, i.e. workers and companies. We need to tax those who own and inherit the country’s wealth.

The Swedish employment agency is garbage
“Get an internship” they tell me okay I get a company to accept me to do an internship part time
and the employment agency? LMAO they say it’s not a good enough internship and no, I’m not allowed to do it part time. Nevermind that it would be good for me and suit me perfectly. It’s not “politically motivated.” Oh, so it is more politically motivated for me to stay at home and do nothing then?
 Apparently so.
Also my dad was doing training for a job, but they deemed him not good enough to continue the job training because he wasn’t learning as fast as they wanted him to.
FUCK the employment agency HARD IN ITS FUCKING ASS.

We figured out the concept of how to do a firing squad centuries ago, so arguments against welfare/redistribution or social liberalization/secularizing that mention crime haven't made any sense for a long, long time.

“The Irish government is offering a €325 weekly basic income trial for artists which will last for three years. As part of the trial 2,000 artists will be randomly selected from all of the applicants. The government definition of artists is broad and covers any creative or interpretative expression, including: visual arts, theatre, literature, music, dance, opera, film, circus and architecture.
The trial hopes to minimise the loss of skill and experience from the arts sector whilst also recognising the value that artists contributes to society. In addition, the trial is aiming to prove that a basic income enables artists to focus on projects without their projects being impacted from the stress of needing to look for work in other sectors to sustain them. Artists who receive the payment are also free to obtain additional work if they please without affecting the payment, however the payment is taxed so additional work may change their tax rate...
The policy was announced by Ireland’s Minster for the Arts Catherine Martin who is a member of Ireland’s Green Party. The Green party are one of three parties in a coalition government in Ireland. When launching the policy Martin said,
“I believe that this scheme is the start of a fundamental change in the way Ireland supports and recognises her artists and arts community.”
Martin went on to say,
“This pilot scheme represents a groundbreaking opportunity for us to explore how the role of the artist in Irish society can be protected and nurtured so we can continue to be inspired by great art for generations to come.”” -via The Good News Hub, 4/30/22
