My favourite Lets Play is probably the. Dark Souls 1 blind run by Tin Plated where it's one gamer gaming and one foulmouthed Appalachian neckbeard drinking from a viking horn every time the player chugs an estus flask and providing bad advice

yes it was a lot of 2013 era edgy gamer humour with all that entails but it was also often hilarious. I wouldn’t bother going through the whole thing, but I find it funny to click into random areas and see what hell they’re going through today.

the suffering was the main draw

Second episode starts with then attacking the Crestfallen Warrior and getting spawncamped for an hour straight, being chased into multiple lategame areas before ever discovering Undead Burg, weeping in incoherent terror, and getting repeatedly jumpscared while comparing the experience to Friday the 13th. Probably the best place to start tbh

Finally finished Dark Souls, started that game 3-4 times and never went further than Taurus Demon or the UndeadBurg’s bonfire.

What a fantastic design and game, with a rich lore and so many interesting characters, who were well written and meaningful, they were so convincing as denizens of that land & time. Miyazakiさん is an absolute genius. I can totally understand now as to why Dark Souls is praised so much and considered as a genre defining game.

Comparing it to Sekiro and Bloodborne, I felt that the boss battle in DS1 is quite easy, but the world is so much more brutal in the latter. Enemies are ruthless and relentless. The world itself is in shambles and out to kill you in every turn (f@&# Sen Fortress and Tomb of the Gaints).

The lore, what can I say Miyazakiさん is a master at this obscure open ended story telling and I absolutely love it. DS1 is rich and lush with lore, every item, character, enemies, boss, environment has a a story to tell and beseech you to go and look more - there are no absolutes, itching in DS1 is black & white, good or bad (Seath? Maybe he was an ass#£€$), the game was an absolute treat and the 160hrs I spend in it is a memory I will cherish forever.
