If you see a message you like and don’t want to participate in the build up of our old clothes in other countries (see: textile piles in India) you can easily take your old t-shirt and write on it with bleach. You could get a fabric marker for $3 to write or draw on your hoodies (and yes they stand up to the washing machine perfectly well). You could sew the message yourself. And you can donate the money you saved, if you wish, to the campaign you want to support still. All while generating less waste.

People make fun of 9/11 now not because 3000 people dying in a terrorist attack is funny, but because the utter fucking self-righteousness and sentimentality with which Americans treat it and have used it endlessly to justify mass violence and misery on a scale that dwarfs 9/11 ever since makes its anniversary worthy of derision.

Osage Nation, the American Indian tribe whose ancestral domain included much of Oklahoma, said in a statement that the sale was “truly heartbreaking”.
“Our ancestors lived in this area for 1,300 years,” the statement read. “This was our land. We have hundreds of thousands of our ancestors buried throughout Missouri and Illinois, including Picture Cave.”
The bidder, who sought anonymity, bought the Picture Cave along with 43 acres of hilly property surrounding it near the town of Warrenton in Missouri, said Bryan Laughlin, the director of Selkirk Auctioneers & Appraisers.
Carol Diaz-Granados and her husband James Duncan, who spent 20 years researching the cave and wrote a book about it, also opposed the auction.
“Auctioning off a sacred American Indian site truly sends the wrong message,” Ms Diaz-Granados, a research associate at Washington University in St Louis said. “It’s like auctioning off the Sistine Chapel.”
if this was Hobby Lobby, the Mormon church, or some weird libertarian ghoul treating this like the newest addition to their private collection, there should be fucking bodies
how exactly do you auction off priceless cultural heritage and it just ends up going to some random guy
who actually benefits from this

Chrome extensions I actually use as a mentally ill university student
Making websites easier to digest:
Dark Reader - Changes any webpage to dark mode.
Mercury Reader - Simplifies the layout of any webpage to eliminate distractions and irritating formatting.
Podcastle AI - Turns any article into a podcast. This is a lifesaver for being able to process what I’m reading, to be honest.
LanguageTool - Spelling and grammar check for those of us who regularly type in more than one language.
Grammarly - Spelling and grammar check for those of us who only type in English. Can be used with LanguageTool installed, which is what I do.
Google Dictionary - Define any word on the webpage with a double-click.
Google Translate - Translate an entire webpage or even just a short segment.
AdGuard Adblocker - After trying quite a few adblocker options, this is the one I find the best.
The Great Suspender - Automatically suspend inactive tabs to help with performance. <- as an edit, I don’t believe this is available anymore
Honey - Try coupon codes automatically to save money on online purchases.
Built-in Chrome tab grouping - Group your tabs to keep organized and minimize distracting clutter.

The moderator has had to tell trump MULTIPLE TIMES to stop interrupting him and Biden
Biden keeps laughing at trump every time he says something obviously wrong
Trump keeps shouting about socialism
Trump is trying to piss Biden off but he won’t even look at him
Biden deadass just told trump to “just shut up, man”

There was a terrorist attack at the Kabul Airport today that killed over 60 Afghan civilians and wounded over 150 and the US corporate media and politicians can only talk about the dozen bRaVe sErViCeMeMbErS also killed
In case it wasn’t obvious nobody in the US government or media thinks of Afghans as people. That should be obvious after the last 20 years of dehumanizing and brutal occupation but if it wasn’t things like this succinctly tell you how the US ruling class thinks of the people it’s bringing “freedom and democracy” to.
