Hiya could you do Harry Crosby + “ if you asked me to marry you tomorrow, i'd say yes. “ “ what about today?” from one of your drabble prompt lists please and thanks 💛
Thank you so much for requesting, Nonnie! I’ve adored these Masters of the Air requests, especially getting to write for Harry my love!! Our favorite navigator 🥰
Quick warning that there is a nonzero chance of historical inaccuracies here, and the timeline may be a little off, but I did actual research for this one y’all! New additions to the ever-growing Useless Knowledge section of my brain: knowing where Lt. Harry Crosby studied for college (he was working on his graduate degree at the University of Iowa when the Pearl Harbor attack occurred; he went back to finish his degree there in 1947 and earned his PhD from Stanford University in 1953!), when and why he joined the Army Air Forces (paused his studies at U of I to enlist after Pearl Harbor), and where he was sent for his training (Mathers Field, California) before being stationed in Idaho, and eventually at East Anglia. Look at me go lol 🤪 Anyway, I hope y’all enjoy!
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction based off the portrayal by the actors in the Apple TV+ series. I hold nothing but respect for the real life individuals referenced within.
a/n: well, that’ll teach me not to try to format my fics on mobile 😂 I guess the Harry fic’s coming out today! Hope you like it Nonnie <3

Just Say Yes
You waited anxiously under the maple tree at the edge of the campus courtyard, fiddling with the worn, creased paper in your hands — Harry’s last letter, telling you that this next visit home would likely be his last before he was transferred to Idaho, and then to who knows where.
I’ll meet you under our tree, pretty girl, the letter had read, Saturday, our usual time?
The tree— the very maple tree you stood in the shade of now— was where you had met often when you were both students at the University of Iowa, studying English. The tradition had started when you were paired up for a project, and Harry asked if you would mind working outside.
“I think better in the fresh air,” he had said, almost apologetically, and you had agreed almost instantly, captivated by the quiet but clearly very smart boy who sat next to you in class.
Even after the project was over and graded, you continued to meet under that tree nearly every day at 2 o’clock after class to compare class notes or exchange feedback on essays.
And after nearly four months of meeting and working together, it was under that tree where Harry Crosby finally asked you out on a date.
Leaning back against the tree, you were jolted out of your trip down memory lane by a familiar voice calling your name.
Grinning, you turned to see Harry strolling towards you, dapper in his dress uniform, one arm raised in greeting, the other cradling a bouquet of tulips— your favorite.
You pushed off from the tree, unable to wait a single second longer, and sprinted to meet him, uncaring of the students staring at the crazy lady running across their campus.
He opened his arms as the distance between you lessened until you crashed into him, burying your head in his chest. He stumbled back a bit, absorbing your momentum, but he was quick to embrace you, quicker still to turn your momentum into a dizzying, joyous twirl, lifting your feet off the ground.
You let out a gleeful laugh as the world spun around you, and pulled him in for a long-overdue kiss once your feet were firmly back on the ground.
After the two of you reluctantly pulled apart, you cupped his face in your hands, drinking him in: lips stained red from your lipstick, hat knocked askew, uniform now more than a little wrinkled, and best of all, those warm brown eyes you had missed so much overflowing with love.
He looked as dapper as ever.
“Hey, pretty girl,” he murmured with a smile, a greeting for your ears only.
It had been so long since you’d heard those words from his lips, and all you could do was blink back the tears that sprang to your eyes as you replied with a simple, tender “Hi.”
Understanding filled his eyes, and he pulled you into a hug, pressing a kiss to your forehead and allowing you a moment to compose yourself before the two of you headed back towards your tree.
“Oh!” He said, holding the bouquet out to you as if he just now remembered he had it, “For you, m’lady.”
You took the bouquet, fingering the delicate pink and yellow petals. “They’re beautiful, Harry,” you smiled up at him, “Thank you.”
“Anything for my girl,” he said, gesturing for you to sit and make yourself comfortable first before he settled next to you in the shade.
“So,” he said, wrapping an arm around you, “Tell me everything. What have I missed? How’d that paper go that you were telling me about?”
You couldn’t help but light up at the mention of your latest paper— your pride and joy, your best work yet if you didn’t say so yourself— and at Harry’s encouraging smile, you rambled on about themes and motifs and parallels, Harry occasionally chiming in with a suggestion that made the connections you had made even clearer.
Despite the plethora of letters you had sent each other, each doing your best to keep the other updated, you and Harry never seemed to run out of things to talk about: the conversation flowed from your latest paper to how Harry had been giving the guys some book recommendations based on your suggestions, to the small bookshop you had taken to visiting, compiling a list of titles for him that you thought he’d enjoy. Harry mentioned that some of his comrades had set up a small library of sorts in the barracks, running on the honor system, but they’d likely need to shut it down soon, with people moving to their more permanent placements.
“Oh that reminds me,” Harry said, digging in his pocket for a moment before triumphantly revealing a scrap of paper with his distinctive scrawl.
“Plenty of the guys are getting letters from their wives and sweethearts,” he said, slipping you the small piece of paper with the address of his next assignment in Boise, “I wanna make sure I’m one of ‘em.”
“Getting letters from your wife, or your sweetheart?” You asked playfully, tucking the slip of paper safely in your pocket.
“Uh.. Well, I mean…” Harry stammered, trying very hard not to think about the small box in his pocket.
“Hey,” you pause to assure him, “I was just kidding.” Under the shade of your tree, you rested your head on his shoulder, looking out at the courtyard. “I know we’re a little young, but…” You took a deep breath, entwining your fingers with his, “If you asked me to marry you tomorrow, I’d say yes.”
You caught the barest hint of movement out of the corner of your eye, and you glanced over to see a small box held out to you.
A box in Harry’s hand that was open to reveal a delicate gold ring.
“What about today?” Harry asked softly, close enough that his breath brushed your cheek.
“I— Harry—” You were speechless, your world zeroing in on that small gold band before realizing that you had been silent for far too long.
You nodded furiously, turning to kiss him before you could even get the words out.
“Is that a—”
Harry’s tentative question was cut short by your lips crashing onto his. His hands came up to cup your cheeks, kissing you back with equal fervor, the ring box left in your lap.
You both eventually pulled away, gasping for air. Harry’s forehead remained pressed to yours, chocolate brown eyes locked on you.
“Was that a yes?” He asked, lips still just barely brushing yours, and you could feel him trying not to smile.
You were an English major. There were a thousand words you could have said, a thousand speeches of acceptance and love and devotion you could have made.
Only one word mattered to you just then.
“Yes.”

Suspect Arrested in Killings of 4 College Students in Moscow, Idaho
The man arrested over the brutal murders of four University of Idaho students has been named as Bryan Kohberger.
A SWAT team entered the location in Pennsylvania where Kohberger, 28, was staying and took him into custody around 3 a.m. today (30 December 2022). Police also seized a white Hyundai Elantra matching the description of a car police had being trying to locate from the scene of the murders.
Online records indicate Kohberger appears to have been pursuing a doctorate in criminal justice at Washington State University in Pullman, less than 10 miles from Moscow. Shortly after his arrest, the university took down a grad student page listing his name. A man with the same name is also listed as having received a master of arts in criminal justice from DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa., in 2022.
While at DeSales, Kohberger allegedly posted in a Reddit community for former prisoners to ask for help with a research survey about “how emotions and psychological traits influence decision-making when committing a crime.” The post, which identified Kohberger as the “student investigator,” was purportedly interested in “the story behind your most recent criminal offense, with an emphasis on your thoughts and feelings throughout your experience.”
Kohberger appeared briefly in a Monroe County court friday morning. Records showed he was ordered held without bail and is due to be extradited after a hearing on Jan. 3.
His arrest comes almost seven weeks after Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were stabbed to death in their beds as they slept in their off-campus home on Nov. 13. The murders were the first in Moscow in seven years and have rocked the small college community. Earlier this week, police confirmed they were sifting through 20,000 tips in connection with the case.
Police say the four students were murdered sometime between 3 and 4 a.m. but they were not discovered until hours later after roommates Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke became worried they could not reach their friends and called police, who made the grim discovery.
The Moscow Police Department, in conjunction with the FBI and investigators from the University of Idaho, is set to hold a press conference to address developments in the case at 1 p.m. local time Friday.
Meanwhile, a professional crime-scene clean up crew arrived on Friday at the home at 1122 King Road in Moscow where the stabbings occurred, but police stopped them from entering the house due to the developments in the case. After the conclusion of the investigation, it is unclear if the three-story house will be demolished or re-listed by the property owner.

The True Story of the Boise Murder House
805 W Linden Street in Boise, Idaho, its covered in a layer of soot, with windows broken and boarded up and trash strewn about the yard, the 2-story, 2,728 square-foot Craftsman-style home looks like an abandoned horror movie set.
Known commonly as the Boise Murder House, the home is also sometimes referred to by locals as the Chop-Chop House, a glib reference to the gruesome homicide that took place there more than three decades ago. In the early morning hours of June 30th, 1987, 37-year-old Daniel Rodgers and 31-year-old Daron Cox shot and killed 21-year-old Preston Murr in the basement of Rodgers’s home at 805 W Linden Street. The two men then used an axe and knife to dismember his corpse, wrapped the pieces in plastic bags, and drove to the Idaho-Oregon border to dump the body parts in the Brownlee Reservoir. Horrifying as the facts of the crime are, there is one detail more haunting than the rest: Murr almost escaped.
According to court documents, an altercation broke out around midnight between the three men and Murr was shot in the shoulder by one of the two others. Having somehow managed to flee the home, he ran to a nearby house and banged on the door begging for help, but no one answered. The neighbor inside did call the police, however. He reported hearing pounding on his door, as well as someone screaming “let go of me,” followed by an anguished yell. Peeking out his window, he saw someone chasing Murr, eventually catching him and dragging him back into the basement of Rodger’s home, where he was fatally shot in the back of the head.
Though police never responded that night, they were called again the next morning by the same neighbor who asked officials to come investigate blood on his screen door. The blood found throughout the neighborhood—on sidewalks and at least one other neighboring house—further painted a harrowing picture of Murr’s desperate attempt to escape his murderers the night before. While the crime scene has long since been cleaned up, a dark legacy lingers around 805 W Linden Street to this day.
It’s unclear what happened to the house in the immediate years after Rodgers was sent to the Idaho State Correctional Center to serve out a life sentence without parole, but property records available online list a new owner, James Howell, as of 2000. Howell has since rented the house to a number of tenants and, given its proximity to Boise State University, it’s become a popular choice among students seeking off-campus housing. As a result, local lore about the house has a decidedly collegiate flair: One persistent rumor claims that fraternity brothers have reported seeing blood dripping down the walls of the basement for years. While there is no truth to this tale—and 805 W Linden was never an official frat house—many former residents say there is something “off” about the space.
“The basement was creepy and had a weird feel. We would take people down there to scare them. I never saw any ghosts but you could tell something wasn't right,” Joe W., a former BSU student, told a local radio station, 107.9 LITE FM. Another Boise resident, Rachel R., told the station that her family almost bought the house back in 2000, and to this day she still gets anxious when thinking about their tour of the home. “It looked like it had been abandoned and the basement was by far the creepiest part,” she said. But of all the accounts shared with 107.9, the strangest tale, submitted by Dan D., goes well beyond the basement.
According to his story, one night Dan and his friend thought they heard someone trying to break into the house. When they went out to the front porch to check things out, no one was there. After looking around the front yard, Dan turned to face the house and saw a “big black oily looking thing” in the window of a bedroom upstairs. He remembers seeing the shadow-y figure move back from the window and towards the bedroom door before it disappeared. Shortly after, it reappeared outside in a mirror sitting on the porch. Dan watched as the “ball of oily blackness” moved down the large column of the porch, slowly growing in size until it took up the entire reflection of the mirror and moved right through him. “It was the weirdest, most disturbing thing I've ever felt and just typing this makes me feel it again. It's like ice fingers sinking into my shoulders,” he said.

Weeds of Boise: Boise State University Campus, part two
In part one of this two part series, I introduced you to the Boise State University campus, located in the heart of Boise, Idaho. I’ve been spending the past year walking the campus and cataloging the weeds that I find there. Boise has a fairly mild climate compared to the rest of Idaho, so weeds are generally easy to find just about any time of year. What weeds are present depends on what time…

Arriving at Pullman
Tumblr media
We drove to Pullman on Dec 26. It took about 11 hours. We had good weather for driving, except for a patch around the Twin Falls region. Our mini van was very full, and the winds made it a little bit of a white knuckle drive through that area for about 45 minutes or so. When we got into Pullman it was fairly late and we stayed at a hotel. The next morning we were able to meet with Sister Hatch who is the Institute Secretary. She took us to our apartment and also showed us around the Institute building where we will be spending most of our time. We have an office there with two desks.
We then got to work unpacking the car and moving things into the apartment. It is lower level of a duplex with two bedrooms. It will work nicely for us and is already feeling like "home". We had to go buy a few things for the apartment and of course food for the kitchen. That night we were quite tired, but pretty much got everything unpacked, put away and set up.
The next few days we were able to meet with our Institute Director, the young missionaries, and the Young Single Adult Ward leaders. We are starting to get a feel for what we will be doing. We will actually start teaching classes on January 8.
There are two Institutes in our Stake - Pullman at Washington State University, and Moscow at University of Idaho. Our Director Brother Salmond is over both of them. We have been over to Moscow (about 8 miles away) to see that Institute. An interesting note is that Moscow is the very first Institute of Religion in the church! The building there is much larger than our building in Pullman and it has a gym. Here at Pullman we do activities requiring a gym at one of the other Church buildings. Brother Salmond has been over the Moscow Institute since September, but is just starting to be over the Pullman Institute as its director Brother Banks is retiring. We were able to have a nice meeting with Brother Banks and learn more about the history of the Pullman Institute and how much it has been a part of the missionary effort here. He said that on the average there are at least a dozen people baptized each year here on campus. We are excited to be involved with that effort.
On Sunday (Dec 31) we were able to attend church with the YSA ward. It was nice to start meeting some of the people that we will be working with. The bishop had us introduce ourselves and bear our testimonies at the end of Sacrament Meeting.
On New Years Day we took the opportunity to drive around the area a little bit and see some of the small towns nearby. I will include here some pictures we took of the rolling hills that are farmed mostly with wheat and lentils. The green fields right now are Winter Wheat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The next pictures here are taken in Pullman. You can see the campus on the hill. We learned that there are 4 hills in Pullman. They are: Military Hill , Pioneer Hill, Sunnyside Hill and College Hill. We live on Military Hill which is named that because there used to be military housing on the hill.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here is a picture of our apartment. It is a split entry 2 bedroom duplex that is divided top and bottom. We are on the bottom floor.
Tumblr media
On Tuesday Jan 2 we met with Bro Salmond and he had us get to work on some projects. There were two cabinets/display cases in the entry of the building leading into the classrooms that he wanted taken out. Shirl started working on that and one piece of tempered glass shattered. He cut his finger but it's healing pretty well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After taking them out, the two areas needed some sheetrock patching and texturing work. Elizabeth helped where she could as well. It required a few trips to the hardware store and two coats of paint.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here is the finished project aside from the fact that someone else will come fix the ceiling tiles and carpet, and the pictures will be mounted on the wall.
Tumblr media
This is what you will see when you enter the building.
On Wednesday we were able to travel to Spokane to attend Zone Conference. We really enjoyed meeting the Mission President and his wife - the LaBarons from South Jordan UT. President LaBaron served his young mission in the Netherlands like Shirl. They talked about that for awhile. President LaBaron actually mentioned his mission the the Netherlands to the young missionaries in his address that day. He was comparing that mission - 75 baptisms per year with this Spokane WA mission where last year they had over 600! He was helping them understand that what they work hard to learn and do on their missions now will prepare them for further challenges that will come in their life. He said that the sooner they can truly be converted to the Lord and develop a strong relationship with Him, the better their whole life will be. He and his wife will be released in July. President and sister Kerr will be coming from Arizona and he ALSO served his young mission in the Netherlands!
Tumblr media
After the Zone Conference we were able to attend an Endowment Session at the Spokane Temple which shares a parking lot with the Stake Center where the Zone Conference was held. It is a small temple. We enjoyed the session very much. Hopefully we can get up to the temple every month or two. It is about 80 miles away.
Tumblr media
This week we were also able to go with the Elders as they taught a first lesson to a lovely woman from India. She is interested in learning more about Christianity and the Book of Mormon. We enjoyed that experience. The sisters have taught two lessons at the institute building while we have been there and it looks like there is at least 1 or 2 baptisms coming up this month!
When we got to the Institute building on Thursday we saw this on our office door.
Tumblr media
So I guess we are really official now!
We had a faculty meeting with Bro Salmond, Sister Hatch who is the secretary, and Brother Sears a part time Institute teacher. This meeting was very helpful as we are now preparing to teach starting Jan 8.
One other project Bro Salmond had Elizabeth do was to put up pictures and quotes from Jesus and the Living prophets on the cabinet doors in the classroom. You can see Elder Kearon is still coming!
Tumblr media
Yesterday, Jan 6, there was quite a bit of snow here. It is very hilly everywhere and we actually had trouble getting out of the Institute parking lot. We had to shovel and salt the ground to get out. Then we headed home but were unable to get up the mail hill to our place. We turned around and went back to the Institute to do more work and wait for the snow plows to do their work. Later the snow died down and we went up the hill fine. We are going to look into getting some better tires though!
Tomorrow school starts on campus, and we will start teaching and helping with all the food and activities that are a part of our assignment. It should be interesting!

(Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court is weighing whether colleges can continue to consider race as part of their admissions decisions, a practice commonly known as affirmative action.
Here is what to know about the policy, its history and the possible consequences of the court's decision.
WHAT IS AFFIRMATIVE ACTION?
In the context of higher education, affirmative action typically refers to admissions policies.
Colleges that take race into consideration say they do so as part of a holistic approach that reviews every aspect of an application, including grades, test scores and extracurricular activities.
The goal of race-conscious admissions policies is to increase student diversity. Schools also employ recruitment programs and scholarship opportunities intended to boost diversity, but the Supreme Court litigation is focused on admissions.
WHICH SCHOOLS CONSIDER RACE?
While many schools do not disclose details about their admissions processes, taking race into account is more common among selective schools that turn down most of their applicants.
In a 2019 survey by the National Association for College Admission Counseling, 24.6% of schools said race had a "considerable" or "moderate" influence on admissions, while more than half reported that race played no role whatsoever.
Nine states have banned the use of race in admissions policies: Arizona, California, Florida, Idaho, Michigan, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Washington.
WHAT IS THE CURRENT LITIGATION ABOUT?
The court is weighing two cases brought by Students for Fair Admissions, a group helmed by Edward Blum, a conservative legal strategist who has spent years fighting affirmative action.
One case contends that Harvard's admissions policy discriminates against Asian American applicants. The other asserts that the University of North Carolina discriminates against Asian American and white applicants.
The schools reject those claims. They say race is determinative in only a small number of cases and that barring the practice would result in a significant drop in the number of minority students on campus.
The court's conservative justices, who hold a 6-3 majority, expressed skepticism about the role of race in admissions during oral arguments in October, and most legal analysts expect the court to rule against the schools. The rulings are due by the end of June.
HOW HAS THE SUPREME COURT RULED IN THE PAST?
The court has largely upheld race-conscious admissions for decades, though not without limits.
A divided Supreme Court took up the issue in the landmark 1978 case Regents of the University of California v. Bakke, after schools began using affirmative action in response to the Civil Rights era to correct the effects of segregation.
The swing judge, Justice Lewis Powell, ruled that schools could not use affirmative action to rectify the effects of past racial discrimination and struck down the university's practice of setting aside a certain number of spots for minorities.
Nevertheless, he found that increasing campus diversity was a "compelling interest" because students of all races - not just minorities - would receive a better education if exposed to different viewpoints. He ruled that schools could weigh race in admission, as long as it remained only one factor among many.
In 2003, the court struck down the University of Michigan's use of a system that awarded "points" to minority applicants as going too far, but affirmed Bakke's central finding that schools can use race as one of several admission factors.
The court again upheld the practice in a pair of 2016 cases challenging the University of Texas admissions policies.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE OUTCOMES?
The court could choose to maintain the current system, eliminate race-conscious admissions altogether or settle on something in between, such as more stringent limits on the practice.
A decision banning affirmative action would force elite colleges to revamp their policies and search for new ways to ensure diversity. Many schools say other measures will not be as effective, resulting in fewer minority students.
In briefs filed with the court, the University of California and the University of Michigan - top public school systems from states that have outlawed race-conscious admissions - said they have spent hundreds of millions of dollars on alternative programs intended to improve diversity, but that those efforts have fallen far short of their goals.

The Idaho murders: what we know so far
SAN ANTONIO – On Nov. 13, 2022 in Moscow, Idaho, at around 11:58 a.m., a 9-1-1 call was made to the Moscow Police Department for an “unconscious person.”
Tumblr media
Bryan Kohberger, the suspect in Idaho’s quadruple homicide case, is being held at Latah County jail awaiting trial after being charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony burglary.
Officers would then encounter a gruesome scene consisting of the lifeless bodies of four University of Idaho students who reportedly suffered multiple stab wounds.

The stuents were, Madison Mogen, 21, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Ethan Chapin, 20, and Xana Kernodle, 20.
More than six weeks after the incident, on Dec. 30, police arrested Bryan Kohberger, a 28-year-old criminology Ph.D. student at Washington State University.
Since then, court documents and an 18-page affidavit consisting of evidence against Kohberger have been released, and the case is still unfolding.
Police said Chapin and his girlfriend, Kernodle, were seen at a fraternity party at the Sigma Chi House the same night.
At 1:40 a.m., Goncalves and Mogen were seen on surveillance footage at a food truck, later arriving home at 1:45 a.m., the same time both Chapin and Kernodle returned to the residence.
According to court documents, the murders took place between 4 a.m. and 4:25 a.m.
The off-campus residence on King Road had no signs of forced entry, an unlocked door and the two surviving roommates who were at the home during the murders were unharmed, according to the authorities.
In the affidavit, a “tan leather knife sheath” was found on the bed next to Mogen’s right side.
After the sheath was processed, the Idaho State Lab located a single source of male DNA that was then traced back to the suspect through genetic genealogy.
A security camera would then pick up four sightings of a 2011 - 2013 white Hyundai Elantra circling around the home, then driving off after the murders had occurred.
Investigators also recovered a latent shoe print processed by the ISP Forensic Team.
The FBI tracked Kohberger from Washington and Pennsylvania and requested that the Indiana cops perform a routine traffic stop so that they could capture footage or photos of his hands.
According to NBC, Kohberger was pulled over twice, and TMZ had released footage of one of the first traffic stops.
Kohberger was arrested Dec. 30 at his parents’ home in Effort, Pennsylvania. Monroe County, and authorities seized the car of the same make and model like that of the white Hyundai Elantra.
Pennsylvania Public Defender Jason LaBar told CNN that Kohberger was "shocked a little bit" by the accusations.
DeSales University confirmed that Kohberger had received a masters degree in Criminal Justice.
According to one of his DeSales classmates, Kohberger had a massive interest in serial killers and true crime and was passionate about theorizing why and how crimes took place.
Kohberger was not only a graduate student, but he was also a teacher assistant who helped teach students about criminal justice and criminology.
Tumblr media
Reddit survey post made by Bryan Kohberger a while before the murders had occurred.
Kohberger allegedly even sent out a survey before the murders, to a select group of people asking questions about committing a crime.
One of the questions in the survey was “why did you choose that victim or target over others?” Kohberger wrote.
Our Lady of The Lake University (OLLU) student Julissa Casas has been following the case through social media since January, and said that hearing all the details slowly come out had been a crazy experience.
Casas lives in the Lakeview apartments on campus.
The apartments were made to create more residences for those who do not commute to the university, and it can be said that the Lakeview apartments are similar to the King road residence that the victims had lived in near the University of Idaho.
“The story made me even more scared and hyper aware of my surroundings,” Casas said.
Although she’s taken her own appropriate safety precautions, such as sharing her location with her parents via Life 360, with some of her close friends, and pepper spray, she still feels that since the Idaho murders, it could happen to anyone.
“I used to feel safe, but now It’s now engraved in my brain,” Casas said.
Casas also said that she does not feel safe walking alone, but safer walking with a group of friends.
“It’s terrifying knowing that there are people that find joy in hurting others. It’s terrifying knowing that he was a Criminal Justice grad student teaching other young students about the science behind committing these violent crimes,” Casas said.
Casas’ dream job used to be becoming an FBI Behavioral Analyst and said that after knowing many cases, this case has been one of the most terrifying to see unravel because of the gruesomeness of it.
“It is so sad to know that Kaylee [Goncalves] was spending one last night in the house she loved with her best friends before she moved to Texas the next day to start her new job,” Casas said.
Casas prays for the victims’ families everyday, and for Kohbergers’ as-well.
“They had no idea what a monster he was, and now have to deal with the repercussions of what their child has done for the rest of their lives” Casas said.
Kohberger waived his extradition in March and has denied the allegations on four counts of murder and one count of burglary.
Investigators believe Kohberger broke in "with the intent to commit murder," Bill Thompson, a prosecutor in Latah County, Idaho, said during a press conference in January.
LaBar, the Chief Public Defender of Monroe County, Pennsylvania represented Kohberger in his extradition, but will not be his defender in the murder case.
According to Today, on Jan. 3, LaBar stated that his client believes he will be exonerated.
“Mr. Kohberger is eager to be exonerated of these charges and looks forward to resolving these matters as promptly as possible,” LaBar said.
As each day passes, more details continue to come out.
As of Feb. 20th, what is known and confirmed by sources is that Kernodle and Chapin were found by Chapins best friend, surviving roommate Dylan Mortenson was the one who made the 9-1-1 call, and an unidentified friend of the four victims checked their pulses’ before calling.
Kohbergers attorney, Anne Taylor, asked to delay her clients’ preliminary hearing, and is now expected to attend trial June 26. At 9 a.m.
Judge Megan Marshall expects the trial to last for five days.
Until then, Kohberger remains in Latah County Jail in Idaho held without bond, and has not yet entered a plea.

Bro I've always liked your icon, I didn't realize it was a whole character, who is this Humphrey? What is their life story? I must know
YO YOU DONT KNOW HUMPHREY???
oh boy this is exciting now i get to explain his silly backstory in excruciating, rambling detail
ok so humphrey is a horse. he was born to a horse mother and a horse father, in a tightknit herd outside a small human town in idaho. his herd keeps to themselves, weary of humans, and only going into town occasionally for medical supplies or bedding or other such needs.
dispite this, as he grows humphrey develops a facination with human science. his parents and specifically his mom encourage his interest. she enlists the help of the library staff to teach him to read. i imagine since neither of them can talk, this was done through quite a bit of clunky pantomiming and pointing.
as a surprise for his (horse year equivalent of) 19th birthday, his mother reveals to him that she has been submitting aplications for colleges across the country that have good chemistry programs. and humphrey has been accepted into [University Across The Country]!!! who appearently saw alot of potential in him.
so his parents pack him a big bag and give him lots of goodbye nuzzles and then hes off on the next train out.
when he arrives at The Big University, the faculty is a little bit surprised to see a horse in their building. but he gives them a note he wrote in advance explaining everything, and hands over all the necessary forms.
and so begins humphreys life as a college student!
the rest of the story from here is just slice of life goofs and vibing.
humphrey has a roommate named mina who collects vintage vinyl records and plays them in their dorm. theyre buddies. mina tells him all about the asshole in her class that wont shut up, and about her newest paper, and she paints his hoofs sometimes.
a bit into the semester mina notices that humphrey is struggling alot not being able to talk to anyone, and she gets him one of those button talkers, where you program in the words. they look like keyboards? you know those? and humphrey is estatic!!! the first thing he does is thank her on it. and so begins a whole new level of their friendship!
humphrey gets a big crush on a barista at the campus starbucks one time. he goes there every day on his break to get his iced caramel macchiato with a pump of vanilla and then sit in the absolute farthest corner NOT staring at this guy as he makes drinks. he isnt staring. shut up mina. he is working on his calc homework thank you.
but then he does something embarassing like put his cup in the wrong bin, or drop his card when he tries to swipe it- in front of the cute barista and oh fuck okay he can never show his face in here again. he proceeds to avoid that side of campus altogether. which isnt going very well because he has 2 classes over there and also needs his caffine pickmeup. so he has to go to the OTHER starbucks in the basement of the rec center. and it is completely out of the way of all his classes and the coffee tastes suspiciously acidic.
but anyway he goes to comical lengths to not come into contact with that barista but then when hes walking down a sidewalk THERE HE IS WALKING TOWARD HIM OH FUCK OH SHIT HIDE and he dives into a bush. but hes 6 feet tall and is entirely poking out of this bush. so cute barista just walks up and hes like oh hi humphrey! haha so chill that youre just hanging out in this bush. mood. nice seeing you :) and then he walks away. and humphreys like. huh.... o///o
theres another plot where humphrey sees a historical photo of the college campus and!!!!! holy shit theres a horse in it!!!! there was a horse attending this university?
so he does alot of digging in the campus library and he finds out that not only was there A horse in the past, there have been FOUR other horses that attended this school. in further investigations, he collects a small treasure trove of books written by other horses who received an education. and hes like. man. im not the only one. maybe this world has a place for me.
also the campus is alive and sometimes you can feel it shifting under your feet if you pay attention but thats not important
anyway thats all i have on hummphrey thus far :) hes a silly little guy and hes going to college.

Bryan Kohberger trial: Survivors of Idaho massacre were awake, texting during rampage: report
Tumblr media
Survivors Awake and Texting During Tragic University of Idaho Home Invasion In a shocking revelation, it has come to light that two housemates in an off-campus rental home in Moscow, Idaho, were awake and texting each other during a tragic home invasion that claimed the lives of four of their friends in November 2022. The incident occurred at 4 a.m., resulting in the deaths of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, following a night out with friends just before Thanksgiving break. The source of this information is a leaked report from grand jurors involved in the case. Although Kaylee Goncalves' father received the information and shared it in a lengthy Air Mail story, neither Goncalves nor his attorney have commented on the matter, likely due to a court-issued restrictive gag order. Steve Goncalves and his attorney have not responded to questions regarding these claims, instead labeling them as a "very poor attempt at getting attention" and "obviously fictional." Awake and Texting During Tragedy According to the report, the two survivors were not only awake during the fatal incident but also communicated via text messages as the attacker moved through the house. Court documents revealed that one of the survivors noticed something suspicious around 4 a.m. This housemate initially believed the sounds were from Kaylee Goncalves playing with her dog on the upper floor but later heard Goncalves say, "There's someone here." When she checked, she saw nothing unusual. Around the same time, Xana Kernodle was alive and using the TikTok app on her phone. The survivor then heard crying from Kernodle's room, located on the same floor. Overhearing a male voice reassuring Kernodle, the housemate "opened her door for the third time" and spotted a masked man leaving through a rear sliding door. This man was described as "not very muscular but athletically built." A Horrific Discovery and Delayed 911 Call Police believe that the victims had all been repeatedly stabbed before 4:25 a.m. However, a 911 call was not made until around noon the following day, originating from one of the survivors' phones. Yet, the identity of the caller remains undisclosed. At the crime scene, a crucial piece of evidence was found next to Madison Mogen's body: a Ka-Bar knife sheath containing Bryan Kohberger's DNA, as authorities allege. The second surviving housemate, who is briefly mentioned in court documents, eventually agreed to an interview with Kohberger's defense team in April after resisting a subpoena. Legal Proceedings and Future Court Date The prosecution's case relies heavily on evidence such as the sheath, the suspect vehicle, and phone records. The Air Mail story alluded to the existence of a secret informant who would provide undisclosed testimony. Prosecuting Attorney Bill Thompson has expressed the intention to seek the death penalty should Kohberger be convicted. Kohberger faces four charges of first-degree murder and a felony burglary count. Kohberger, who was pursuing a Ph.D. in criminology at Washington State University at the time of the murders, is currently held without bail at the Latah County Jail in Moscow, Idaho. The case continues, with the next court appearance scheduled for October 26. At that time, arguments will be heard regarding the defense's request to dismiss the indictment. Read the full article

Have you been keeping up with the Idaho quadruple homicide case? If so why do you think Bryan did it?
Hey! Yes, I have been. Honestly, from how others who knew him described him, he was insanely creepy. One girl who went on a date with him said he was being overly touchy and making her feel uncomfortable to the point where she faked throwing up in the bathroom to prompt him to leave. And now there's reports that he was fired from his position as a TA at the university due to his aggressive behaviour toward his professors and his sexist attitude towards women. And apparently he used to lurk one college campus and blankly stare at women?
One source stated he was following the victims on social media (not sure if he was following Ethan and Xana, but the others for sure). And I think it was Kaylee who he was repeatedly messaging over and over on instagram basically saying ''Hey, how are you?'' over and over again (and she may not have even seen these messages). We don't know how he knew the victims yet, but he clearly had an obsession with her and may have felt rejected by her.
He allegedly grew up overweight too, and over summer he lost a ton of weight and his friends say his attitude competely switched up and he became a lot more aggressive and arrogant. I think what happens a lot of the time with men like him is that they grow up feeling unattractive, inadequate, lacking female attention, etc. Then when they do have their ''glow up'' they still feel resentful toward women and that resentment doesn't change even when they are attractive enough to get their attention.
It's similar to Ted Bundy and Robert Hansen. Both grew up being rejected by girls, then even when they get older and become more appealing to women, the resentment toward them is still there, and they feel this desire to get revenge on them.

What made their deaths all the more terrifying was how elusive their killer seemed — until a sudden arrest made everything even scarier.
Sometime after midnight on November 13, four University of Idaho students — Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves — were all viciously attacked while sleeping in an off-campus townhouse. They were each, as eventual criminal charges would reflect, “stabbed and murdered with premeditation with malice and forethought.”
Throughout the seven tense weeks that followed, the case now known as the Idaho student murders rocked the small town of Moscow, Idaho, became a riveting true crime obsession, and sparked a global media frenzy.
But although everything that happened after their deaths would become international news, the lead-up to the quadruple homicide was completely uneventful. And so, nothing seemed to stick: There were no suspicious actions, changes, or alarming behaviors prior to the murders, and no immediate suspects, no big compelling clues, no key witnesses in the aftermath. An unknown intruder or intruders had simply entered the house, stabbed to death four of the six sleeping students inside, and then quietly slipped into the night.
