I don't endorse my art being reuploaded on pinterest without my awareness and consent, but the unfortunate reality is that there's very little I can do to stop people from doing that. I know a lot of artists have a similar sort of antagonistic relationship with the site purely because it's so full of stolen, unsourced and uncredited art. I could spend my days going through pinterest and reporting my pieces for removal, and it wouldn't be enough and I'd never have time to do anything else. It's kind of a pick your fights situation and I know I can't win that one.

The funny thing is I've met ppl with both super deeply harmful and abusive occasionally incestuous family dynamics and I've met ppl with otherwise pretty regular romances to their sister or cousin or something. And it reminds me of how a guy I knew in HS told me age gaps are abusive because he was incompatible w his bf of 2 years older but i've known ppl who regularly date with larger gaps and are fine. Ok, so people from Argentina have been telling me I shouldn't have included "white people" as an option because it has bad implications and it makes it seem that there are only white people in Argentina when, clearly, that's not true.

It’s so telling that they don’t know jack shit about what being intersex is or is like Intersex people can be AFAB. In fact it’s SIGNIFICANTLY more common that intersex people are either AFAB or AMAB, only having that they’re intersex listed on their birth certificate and not having male or female put on there is really fucking rare in comparison to the number of intersex people who are AMAB or AFAB

Intersex =/= right in between male and female (in fact the intersex variation that is *exactly* in between the two does not exist in humans from what I understand)

Intersex =/= ambiguous genitalia

Intersex is a term that covers a wide variety of conditions. While there *are* intersex people who where born with ambiguous genitalia (many of which have surgery forced on them to make them fit more in the boxes of male and female so they can assign them one or the other at birth) a lot of intersex people also do not have that. There’s intersex people whose difference is in their hormones, or chromosomes, or gonads, in a way that doesn’t show an immediately obvious difference in genitalia. Hell, a lot of those groups of intersex people don’t have it confirmed that they are intersex for years, sometimes even DECADES. There are several variations that don’t show symptoms until puberty or adulthood, and some who don’t cause overtly outward symptoms at all and the only way people find out is through medical tests.

And guess what? It’s not particularly easy to get a test for that shit. A lot of doctors will not listen to patients who say they suspect they might be intersex unless they believe the person is being damaged by their symptoms. Hell, there’s intersex people who NEVER get diagnosed because of this.

So, long story short, if you think all intersex people are allowed to use a label (like the example given at the beginning), don’t say people of a certain AGAB can’t use the same label as a whole because intersex people can be either of the two binary AGABs.

The most important thing is that you never forget that the other person is a stranger. So you gotta treat them accordingly. You may know a lot about them that they decided to share, but to them you're just a stranger. So maybe don't walk up to them like "hi dude, nice to see you, your kids have gotten so big!" Just put yourself into their shoes and imagine a stranger being super familiar with you.

I also noticed a lot of entitlement from fans. Remembering you're just a random stranger helps with that too. No celebrity owes you anything. Or do you wanna be the creepy guy who begs a woman he doesn't know for a date cause she just HAS to get to know him cause he's such a nice guy? Probably not. I know how important it is to get a photo or an autograph or a short talk with your fave, I flew to different countries and waited for hours in the rain at night after concerts, unsuccessfully hoping for any of that. I understand that you may get mad and impatient. It's not too much to ask, right? The dude could just come outside for one second. And yes, he could, but he doesn't have to. He just played a show. He wants to relax. He's been doing this for decades. He releases new music and does interviews and goes on tour and releases new merch, everything else is absolutely optional.

And, no matter how well you think you know them: don't forget that you actually don't. All you know is what they choose to share. By now we all know that what people post on social media is fake and staged, but many people still seem to think that it's different with celebrities cause they watched every interview for years and put in a lot of "work" to be as close to their idols as possible. Accept that you don't know shit about them, only their public persona. Don't try to connect some absurd dots like those Swifties apparently did.

TLDR: Your favorite celebrity is a stranger. Treat them as you'd treat any other stranger if you ever get the change to interact with them, but also in your general existence as a fan. Respectfully and with the proper distance.
