Beyond the Spider-Verse Theory: The Hidden Villain

So I've left it a few days after watching Across the Spider-Verse to gather my thoughts. And while you can see my review here it's time for some theory crafting for the next movie: Beyond the Spider-Verse
This theory will discuss the existence of another villain behind the scenes
Spoilers for Across the Spider-Verse
So as we know, the main crux of the Spider Society's storyline is that the Web of Life and Destiny (aka the Spider-Verse) apparently hinges on the concept of 'Canon Events', whereby each Spider has to undergo intersecting moments in each mythos. Miguel O'Hara enforces this pattern via the Spider Society, after his attempts to 'break canon' caused the universe he inhabited, taking over from another dead Miguel's life, to die - along with his alternative universe daughter. We also learn that anomalies like this will cause the web to collapse, and thus Miles - having been bitten by another universe's spider to get spider powers, allegedly robbing the powers from another potential spider - and Spot are walking anomalies and their prolonged time in another universe may cause another collapse.
But something doesn't quite add up.
First of all, if Miles and Spot are anomalies, why is their universe still intact? Same can be said for the Earth-42 spider still in a jar. Additionally, why did Miguel's universe collapse if he had the watch that keeps his atoms good in the universe? Isn't he doing exactly what he alleges Miles is doing, taking over another Spider-person who died in this Universe? Also it's highly unlikely that every Spider is subject to the same canon events; Ben Reilly is a clone and Miguel had his DNA mixed with a spider's so surely that disrupts the OG Canon Event of the Spider-bite right? Miguel never had an Uncle Ben or a Captain Stacy moment in his mythos (unless we're suddenly counting the alt!Daughter as the former), plus in Into the Spider-Verse Gwen already said she saved her dad from dying so wouldn't that have disrupted a Canon Event? Do captains even exist for Peter Parked Car or Spidersaurus Rex?
And finally, how can you say Spot and Miles are anomalies and shouldn't be in the universe when Pravitr's Canon Event is only caused by Spot interfering with his universe?
Like I said, it doesn't add up.
So, how do we establish that the idea of 'Canon Events' are not as strict as they seem, that Miles and Spot aren't reality-threatening anomalies, but also explain what happened to the universe that traumatized Miguel - with Peter B. also as witness to verify the story?
Perhaps, someone is manipulating the web behind the scenes.
In the comics, the Web of Life and Destiny is maintained by the 'Master Weaver', a character key to Morlun and his Inheritors, and while I don't think we're going to see the Weaver in Beyond the Spider-Verse I do feel like somebody could be filling that kind of a role. So ask yourself, who do we know in the Spider-Verse who has a unique interest in other dimensions, has the mind to test and tinker, but also has a fascination slash vendetta against the spiders...

Dr. Olivia Octavius was a highlight of the first movie, but her sudden exit after being hit by a truck was considered an abrupt and unsatisfying end for her. So what if she survived? And when the collider closed she was sucked into the Web of Life and Destiny? An inquisitive mind such as herself would have a wealth of time (well, not literally, given that Miles got a glimpse of the future and Spider Society HQ is in 2099 we can assume that the web exists outside of linear time) to test things, seeing the paths and intersections of other Spiders. Liv however does have one particular Spider she seems drawn to in a negative manner though, Peter B. Parker, so what if Miguel's incident in the universe collapsing was instead an attempted hit towards Peter B., Liv attempting to wipe him out of time by wiping the universe he was in?
It does go deeper, we've seen from the Spot that in his flashback scenes he's always adjacent to Liv, they both identified the Earth-42 spider, and she was the leading scientist on the Collider, so she would have the skills to know this, and if she became able to expand her abilities by being a villainous Master Weaver (like Superior Spider-Man attempted to be by killing the Master Weaver to change his fate), she may also be responsible for directing other Spiders' paths along the same route to manipulate Miguel into his current uncharacteristic way of thinking, she may also be manipulating her colleague Spot to encourage more suffering to the Spiders.
If true, it'll at least give Miguel closure and open the door for him to be apologetic and much less of a dick, but it'd also explain how Miles could become able to divert the idea of Canon Events without destroying his or other universes, liberating each Spider to exist in their own story without having to follow the same pattern. Adding to a much bigger role for Octavius (we did see a lot of variant Doc Ocks in ATSV) would provide a cyclic conclusion to Miles' journey since his other 'first villains' Kingpin and Prowler have been defeated.
But, this is just a theory, there's much room to go other directions, but it was a thought.

The Anomaly - Ch. 9
Ch: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14
Miguel O’ Hara has failed in many ways throughout his life. Working for someone as crooked as Tyler Stone. Trusting him enough to drink that laced tea even when he knew Tyler needed him to complete his research. Fixing his DNA by splicing it with spider DNA and making himself dependent in a whole different way. Losing Dana was his own fault really. And Gabriella… 
Miles was his fault and everything the boy had done. Gwen and her father… The Parker family… Those were his fault too. 
If he could have done things differently, maybe he wouldn’t have acted so rashly. He gave a damned lecture to a teen who obviously had issues following orders. In what universe did he think telling the kid to let his dad die would work. Stupid. But again, he felt bad, not shame. 
Miguel refused to dwell too much in the headspace of what-ifs or what-could-have-beens because he would get lost in them. He had to focus on the present and protecting the future. And right now, the multiverse needed his protection. Anomalies were popping up all over the Spiderverse (as much as he loathed to admit it, it rolled off the tongue better than Arachno-Humanoid-Poly-Multiverse) and he did not have the personnel to handle the sheer volume of it. 
There was an influx of anomalies popping up on multiple earths and given what happened to Peter B last time, Miguel wasn’t taking chances with any of them, especially not the ones that appeared in Hobie’s, Pavitr’s, Peni’s, Noir’s, Ham’s, and Jess’ universes. They all had anomalies running amuck and he sent out multiple teams to safeguard them and their families. It seemed to be working as no one had disappeared… yet. But that didn't include the other anomalies appearing in other less involved universes and the  Spider Society was spread thin. As much as he wanted to jump into the fray, the best way for him to help was to manage the teams from HQ. 
Lyla appeared over his shoulder in all her annoyingly snarky glory. “So we have a problem.”
Miguel ran a tired hand over his face. “More?”
“Yeah.” 
He rubbed his eyes. “Who can we send?”
“No one.”
He growled. “What do you mean ‘no one’?”
“Well, per your protocol, we need a certain number of Spiders here at all times. If we send anyone out we dip below that number.”
Ah yes, the safety protocol he instituted after the initial incident with Miles Morales. Of course the kid would bite him in the ass even when he wasn’t here. “Override it.”
“I would like to remind you that safety protocols are safety protocols for a reason.”
“Just do it,” he snapped. He scanned the report Lyla sent him; a Rhino and a Vulture. “Send a team of three.”
“Mmm, wouldn’t recommend that.” She checked her nails as if she wasn’t just pixels. 
Why did he have to build his AI so annoying? “Lyla, we don’t have time for this!”
“Well, I got an updated report, it looks like it’s a whole Sinister Six anomaly.”
“Say that at the start! Send five, anyone available.”
“You got it, boss.”
He grumbled, pinching the bridge of his nose to relieve the tension building there. It didn’t work. It never did. Then Lyla fizzled back into existence. He could snap his own nose, he was gripping it so hard. “What now?!”
“More.”
“Estas bromeando,” he hissed.
“In this universe.”
“Ay, por favor. How many?”
“Just one. Might be a regular anomaly.”
Ha. Funny phrase that. But a minor anomaly was a welcome relief from the massive ones cropping up. “Do we have anyone?”
“Not unless you really want to disregard your safety protocol.”
Fine. He’d get this done quick and hurry back. He materialized his mask over his face. “I’ll go. Where?”
“Lower levels.”
He sprinted out of the room. “Keep an eye on everyone. Keep me posted.” She gave him a half hearted salute and disappeared. 
As he ran through the facility he was struck by how empty it was. Normally it was a near constant buzz of conversation. Now, only the barest of personnel were around just in case of an emergency. It was odd. 
He took the elevator down to the underbelly of Nueva York. His scan indicated the anomaly was in quadrant 8C. A bit of a swing, but manageable. He just hoped he could stop it before too much damage was done. 
Orange and yellow blurred together as he swung. It worried him how many anomalies were popping up, Miles’ doing or not. What if the barrier between universes were thinning? Could they? He had tests he needed to run. Regardless, it did not bode well. 
And then what was he going to do about Miles Morales? The kid was clearly… unwell. No, that wasn’t fair, not to Gwen and Peter. Even disturbed was a light term for what Miles was now. What he did to George Stacy and MJ was horrific, cruel, and heartless.  
It would be easy to blame everything on the Spot; he kidnapped the kid and did unspeakable things until Miles became… this. But his gut told him that wasn’t right. And if that wasn’t right, and Miles was telling the truth, that meant everything was his fault. He did this to the kid. Which meant that it was on him to… take care of the issue. 
He didn’t want to have to kill Miles, but if there was no salvation… Shit. He was just a kid. He shouldn't be thinking about this like that.
The sound of metal screeched in his ear. He picked up speed. The sooner he dealt with this, the sooner he could return to base and figure this mess out. He dodged a car flung his way. 
The Lizard anomaly roared and bounded towards him. Guess anyone even resembling a Spider was enough to warrant the creature’s wrath. Miguel ducked under a careless swing and landed a heavy punch to its guts, stumbling it.  He shot a web at its chest and pulled it back into another punch, knocking out a sharp tooth. The Lizard collapsed at his feet. 
It took more time to get here. 
Well, at least he didn’t waste any time or resources sending a team. He secured the lizard in a containment field and called Lyla to arrange pick up. She didn’t answer. Now, contrary to what other Spiders might think, Lyla was sort of programmed with that menace personality, but she was still an AI, one that always answered when he called. 
“Lyla,” he tried summoning again to no avail. Something was wrong. He pressed his comm button for his watch. “Spider-Byte.” Nothing. “Margo!” Silence. 
Miguel cursed his stupidity as he hurried back the way he came. He knew things were hectic with the surge of anomalies and likely caused by Miles, so he should have known it was a ploy to get him out of HQ. He should have anticipated something like this. He should have been more conservative in who he sent out. He was severely lacking back, but what choice did he have?
He nearly slammed into the side of the elevator, just barely able to stop his top speed at the door. He had to get to his computer first if possible, assess the situation, rally the Spiders in base, and get Lyla and Spider-Byte back online. As he waited for him to reach HQ, he sent out a web-wide comm. “Spider Society is under attack, any and all available hands are to return to HQ at once.” 
The doors opened. He expected damage, chaos, some sort of fight. What he got was Spiderman of Earth-337 pinned to the wall by a metal rod through his chest and complete silence. Blood stained a river down his chest. There was no chance the Spider was still alive. 
Still, Miguel walked forward and checked for a pulse. Nothing. Damn it all. Spiderman-337 was the one to initially report that it was the Spot who was collapsing universes. He was pinned perfectly in view of the elevator. Perfect for Miguel to see as soon as he got back. This was a message. 
He pulled the rod out and laid the fallen Spider into a more dignified position. They thought they could come into his home, kill his people, and taunt him with their corpses? He’ll tear them to shreds. 
Miguel ran through the base. The silence was off putting, not even the sounds of a brawl, just his hurried footsteps. He did not like the implications. At least Spider-Byte’s safety was guaranteed. His worst fears were realized at the sight of corpses littering the hallway of his lab. Furious was an understatement. But even through the fog of anger, he knew it was foolish to challenge the Spot and Miles on his own. He took a step back; he'd wait for backup. Or he would have if a hole didn’t open up beneath him. 
“– should have sent the Sinister Six here.”
Miguel knew that weedy voice anywhere. “You!” he snarled at the Spot, who was high above at his computer.
The Spot turned on his heel. “Yeah, me.” He pressed a button and the platform began lowering. “How–?” He pressed the button again, which paused the descent. “Wait.” He pressed it again. 
A feather light chuckle bubbled from the other person sitting on his desk. Miles. “It’s really just that slow.” The Spot shrugged and returned to clicking away at the computer. Miles looked at Miguel, joy alight in his eyes. He waved with his fingers. “Hey, Miguel. It’s your turn.”
Miguel scowled. “Miles, you made a mistake coming here.”
“You think?” He leaned forward on his knees. “I mean me and Mr. Ohnn put a lot of thought into–”
“If you think I’m going to play one of your sick little games–”
“No,” Miles pushed himself off the desk. “No games with you.” He sauntered forward. “Did you like the gifts I left for you?”
Miguel’s eyes flashed a dangerous red. His talons extended from his fingers. 
Miles grinned, dropping from the platform. He was still a lanky kid, a year and a half didn’t do much to change the gangly limbs, which meant he still had some growing to do. There was that same determination in his eyes, the same one from over a year ago, but now it was cold where it was once passionate. 
This was not the same kid he locked up. Electricity sparked in Miles boots. 
Miguel saw it coming, but only barely reacted fast enough to block the punch to the face. He was quick to counter, but not quicker than Miles backing out of his range. “Don’t make me do this, kid,” he said, flexing his fists. 
Miles just laughed. “Killed ten Spiders in the last ten minutes and I’m still just a kid.”
“Eleven,” the Spot corrected. 
“Eleven dead Spiders,” Miles said, glee in his eyes. “Wanna make it twelve?”
The nonchalance set Miguel off. Those Spiders were dead. His Spiders were dead. Eleven universes without protectors. Miguel roared and charged. 
“That’s the Spiderman I remember.” A mask engulfed Miles face, the same one with the little devil horns and painted smile, nanotech. He dodged Miguel’s first swipe, but got caught by the second. He didn’t panic, instead mirroring the grip Miguel had on him and sending a surge of electricity through him. 
Miguel screamed as his limbs locked. He fell to one knee after the wave passed, but Miles hadn’t shook him off yet. He gripped the thin arm tighter and lifted Miles in the air to slam him back into the ground. 
Miles gasped, but learning his lesson, kicked Miguel off and flipped onto his feet. They circled each other, waiting for the first move. The mask was the same design as the one Hobie had shattered, but upgraded with nanotech. His gear was evolving. 
“Need assistance?” The Spot asked. 
Miguel froze. Against Miles he could win. Against the Spot he might manage to hold out until backup arrived. But both of them would be a death sentence. 
“Did I ask for any?” Miles straightened and disappeared. 
Shit. Miguel forgot about that. A leg swept under him and Miles appeared above him, electricity powering his fist. He barely got his arms up in time to block, followed by the distinct feeling of his bones creaking in protest. 
Miles might be faster, but not stronger. 
Miguel grabbed his face. He twisted using his momentum to slam Miles into the ground. He thought the kid was out for the count until two feet kicked up and hit him in the chin. 
Damned Spider flexibility. 
Miles backed out of reach, narrowly avoiding stumbling over his own feet. “How are we on the download, Mr. Ohnn?”
Download? What were they downloading off his computer? None of it could be good news. None of this was good. 
The Spot gave a thumbs up. “Plenty of time for you to play with him.”
Miles was just stalling. 
Miguel raised his arm to shoot a web up to the platform, but Miles refused to let him, shooting a web past Miguel and launching himself back into the fight. It was easy to block the first hit, the second punch had him off balance, and the third kick had him actually stumble. Miles rushed to try and get another hit in, but Miguel caught his fist and threw out his own. 
Miles was dazed. Ok, lock the kid down in one of the containment units and –
A sharp pain radiated from his side. Miguel looked down at the black throwing spike stuck just under his ribs. He shoved Miles away and snarled. He let his guard down. Another mistake. 
Miles’ raised a hand in Miguel’s direction. Blue streaks of electricity crackled, moving faster than he could even blink towards the spike stuck in his torso. He screamed, electricity surging through him. He fell to his knees, couldn’t even react to Miles flying at him, fist coated in sparks. 
Miguel slammed into the far wall, crumpling to the ground. His whole body ached, unable to fully control his limbs as the last remnants of electricity coursed through him. He groaned as Miles maneuvered him to sit up right. He wasn't able to resist as Miles snapped cuffs around his wrists. 
Miles’ mask retracted, a triumphant grin plastered on his face as his chest heaved. “I win.” He stretched to loosen his joints. “Almost done?” he asked the Spot.
“Basically.” The Spot turned and looked at the vials and injections next to the desk. “Do we need these?”
Miles shrugged. “Take whatever. We’ll sort through it later.” 
“Smart considering we got a bunch of Spiders incoming.”
He walked over to Miguel. “That’s fine. We have everything we came for.” He dug his boots into the spike in Miguel’s torso, relishing in the scream that tore out of him. 
Miguel struggled against his restraints, but it didn’t even rattle. The hell?
“Made especially for you, big guy,” Miles said, putting more weight into his foot. “Like them?”
“Miles,” Miguel said through gritted teeth. “Stop.”
“Why would I do that? For the first time in a long time, I'm getting exactly what I want.”
“Miles,” he panted, pain radiating throughout his body. “This isn’t you.”
Miles rolled his eyes. He let off, planting both feet in front of Miguel. “Right, because you know me so well.” He stared at him unblinkingly. A predator triumphant over a successful hunt. “Mr. Ohnn, are we ready?”
“Yup.” The Spot held up a hard drive. 
“Great, let’s get out of here.”
“You won’t get far,” Miguel sneered. 
“Far? From you?” Miles patted his head condescendingly. “Never. You’re coming with.”
“Wha–”
A hole opened up underneath them.

Spider-Man No Way Home Predictions!
(Potential spoiler warning, but these are just my predictions as a fan of the MCU)
✨the line✨
This is (most likely) Tom's last appearance as Peter Parker, meaning there's no way we won't hear "with great power comes great responsibility." I predict that we'll hear it come from Tobey to Tom, as Ben is already gone and I doubt they'd change the origins of something so iconic.
"Is this stuff coming out of you?"
As Andrew and Tom's Peter use web-shooters rather than have it come from their wrists, like Tobey's Peter, and would likely be confused at this difference. It'd be a nice little callback to Sam Wilson's comment during the first time we saw Tom's Peter in action way back in Civil War.
Avocados at Law
I want to see Charlie Cox return as Matt Murdoch sooooo bad but, unless Marvel hints at Daredevil in a trailer again (like they may have done with the protest signs and lawyer's arms) or reveals that he will be in the movie, I doubt that we will see him. I feel like we'll probably see him in an end credit scene or mentioned as an easter egg, but not in the film itself. If the lawyer isn't Matt, however, a fun twist is that Foggy could represent him instead! (Although I still doubt that we'll see either of them).

He saved her... This time.
Gwen Stacey's death in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was absolutely heartbreaking, and I'm sure we'll see MJ in a similar place of danger to raise the stakes. I feel we'll see Tom's Peter trying to save her and fail, but she won't die. Instead, it'll reveal that Andrew's Peter got there in time to save her, doing what he wasn't able to do for his love. Almost a sort of redemption but also a heartbreaking parallel and difference between their lives in each reality.
No really, No Way Home
This is a fairly obvious one, but it is most likely that it'll be the villains who have no way home, not Peter. He'll have to choose between sending them back, resulting in their deaths and possibly making him a "murderer" once more, or defeating them in this reality. He'll probably have to come to terms with eventually choosing the former at the end of the film.
Here'ssss Rhinoooo!
We've seen or been alluded to 5/6 members of the Sinister Six in the trailer already (Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman, & Lizard), and I truly believe that the last villain we'll get is Rhino. I believe that he and Andrew's Peter will be transported through the multiverse at the ending scene from TASM2, and that's the moment they'll have come from as it was the last time we saw either of them.
It was a DiVeRsiON
This theory has definitely been circulating a lot on the internet, but I do believe it was Tom Holland's face edited onto Tobey Maguire's body. It's the same suit we saw him wear in Spider-Man 3, tying into the theory of them being pulled through existing moments we've seen before as mentioned above. Additionally, that's the only time we see Tom's face on a body wearing the Iron Spider suit, meaning that it very likely could be Tobey actually wearing it.
Lost Friend... AGAIN
I adore Ned, I adore Jacob Batalon, but in the first two series' Peter lost Harry and I feel like it's the emotional turmoil that they want for him to experience more character development. I don't want it, I DON'T WANT IT, but I think we will see him become Hobgoblin.
WandaVision
Since we see Stephen Strange in this movie, one of the end credit scenes will probably be teasing Multiverse of Madness!! Since Elizabeth Olsen will be in that film, we may see her or see another direct reference to the events of WandaVision to begin connecting the two characters. (We may even see the deleted footage of Stephen that Feige confirmed was removed from the project).
Evil Doctor, How Strange.
There are a few clips in the trailer that look like Stephen and Peter are fighting, so what may happen is that Peter will encounter a version of him which he has to fight. Who knows, it may be an interesting scene to see.
👏MILES👏FREAKING👏MORALES👏
They confirmed his existence in the MCU in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and I would love to at least have another mention of his existence in this movie as well! I'm sure they'll at least throw us some easter egg about him even though we probably won't see him.
Return of the (Dancing) King
This one is more of something personal that I want to see, but I want a callback to Tobey's Peter dancing in Spider-Man 3! I mean, c'mon.

Here are the honorable mentions of things I want to see that I, unfortunately, really doubt we will:
Dane DeHaan: The best Harry Osborn but had just had another baby before filming so is likely not lying when denying the rumors.
Emma Stone: I mean, Gwen died... And she also just had a baby so we probably won't see her.
Peter Maximoff/Ralph Bohner: MARVEL NEEDS TO FIX THIS but I don't think they'll do it in Spider-Man.

Watching The Amazing Spidernan movies so that I’m all caught up before No Way Home. Will add my thoughts as I have them. Note I am not some big Spider-Man fan nor have I read the comics so if my thoughts sound kinda stupid they probably are.
First movie:
That’s a good trick with the broom. Making a mental note as we speak.
Actually seeing Peter say goodbye to his parents is horrible and I would like to never experience it again
SALLY FIELD IS AUNT MAY?! Why does this one have the good cast? (not good as in better but good as in more well known)
The sexual tension in “good morning flash…good morning Peter” (this is a joke I’m not shipping him with his bully)
Jesus roid rage much?
Shut your blinds! I don’t know who would be looking in your window at this exact moment but close them anyway!
First careful, you never know who is watching what you search (when did I become this person)
Second…curt connors is ableist.

Oh internalised ableism. And that is the only comment I will make going forward because my disabilities do not include limb difference and I dont want to overstep.

Oh my god is it really necessary to show all the different kinds of spider bites.
Actually just going back to the internalised ableism thing…he is allowed to feel whatever type of way about his own disability that is his right. But insinuating that all disabled people are weak and wanting to breed out the weakness is eugenics and just kinda gross. THIS is the final comment I will make on the matter.

Why is this so awkward? And not like teens navigating a crush awkward just genuinely awkward. I feel no chemistry between them.
I like the song, it’s an interesting choice for this scene but I like it.
Stop does uncle Ben die now? Like I know uncle Ben dies at some point but I was really kinda hoping he just wouldn’t in this iteration. I was going for a ninth doctor moment “just this once everybody lives”

Don’t show me moments of Flash being human I might accidentally start shipping them for real and that simply can’t happen.

I just really enjoy how he takes the piss out of his victims? Arrests?
Is Gwen aware that the school nurse can’t cure everything? Both legally and just like generally doesn’t have the knowledge to cure everything. She suggests going to the nurse a lot.
This family gives me bad vibes

I think with what I remember of SpiderTobey and what I know of SpiderTom, Andrews Spider-Man is definitely better with the people he’s rescuing. Smoother, good bedside manner.

Final thoughts:
So I think SpiderAndrew might be a close second favourite for me. I like the relationships of the original the most, the comedy of the mcu version the most but this one was like a nice in between. Im a little disappointed there won’t be a third not cos I think I would have enjoyed it just cos the original had 3 movies, the mcu version will have at least 3 movies and this one is left out with 2. Don’t think I would have loved Shailene Woodley as MJ though so I dunno. I think the only thing I would have wanted from a third movie is to know who fedora guy is…and for Peter and May to acknowledge that they both know that he is Spider-Man. Apart from that it was fine and I now feel fully prepared for No Way Home.

Hello, I’m not certain if you’re currently taking requests or not but in case you are I have one for you, I feel like you would write it really well if you decide to.
So it’s sort of Twilight inspired, specifically the part where Edward breaks up with Bella so she starts putting herself in danger, I think that’s what happens, but anyway that’s my concept. Peter breaks up with reader, trying to protect her because of the Spider-Man stuff and despite reader trying to persuade him to reconsider he doesn’t change his mind, but reader keeps trying by calling him but he never answers and when she tries his apartment he’s never there and she decides if she can’t reach Peter then she’ll have to get Spider-Man’s attention by purposely putting herself in dangerous situations.
She doesn’t realise but Peter has been keeping an eye on her ever since they broke up (kind of like he does with Gwen in TASM2) so he’s able to swing in just in time to save her but he’s angry because he knows it wasn’t an accident, she purposely put herself in harms way and she’s angry telling him that it was the only was she could get his attention and she wouldn’t have needed to if he just returned her calls and so on.
I’d love them to end up back together in the end though because I love angst but I also love a happy ending! I can’t wait to read this if you choose to write it, I love your writing!

Can Brian Bendis write everything?
Between story, and downright FUN, this is a great book.  Team books are hard to do well, if for no other reason, because of the characterizations. 
Multiple characters mean multiple personalities, and some of those will always get underdeveloped in relationship to the team, as the writer invariably has favorites  Unless…
What we are seeing with LSH is development of characters from across the spectrum. Every book has development of some of the characters, even if they’re not directly involved in the story. This is a far cry from what you see in other books.
Add to this Ryan Sook’s breakdowns, and Wade von Grawbadger’s inks, and you get a pretty package, all tied up in a big bow. More importantly, this is a story with a legacy reaching back 60 years, and is being truly refreshed for a new audience.
This isn’t the Legion I read in 1967, but it’s damned good!

This sums up exploring the World, any world, during a Zombie Apocalypse. Especially when those with Super Powers have been turned into Super Zombies.
So, we pick up with Peter Parker, Forge, Karla Sofen (Moonstone), Valeria and Franklin Richards, a Flerkin named Chewie, and the reprogrammed Sentinel lovingly called ‘Nana’, moving from defendable place to defensible area, seeking a ‘safe place’. Somewhere they can rest for more than one night… if that is possible.
Always realizing the next tree could be hiding a zombified Avenger, or Defender, or Loved one…
Johnson’s Miniseries is another version of the Marvel Zombiepocalypse, which begs the question, what happens when Zombie Galactus infects your world? Or, more importantly, when it CARRIES the infection to your world?
Leonard Kirk’s art style is perfect for this story, a very dark, visceral style which is a little hard on the eyes, making the reader work for every panel. Yes, it hurts to read, but IT SHOULD! It’s Zombies!
This is worth the read if you can get all 4 issues (the first issue came out in July).

In a world existing somewhere between Watchmen 1985 and Current Multiverses, Tom King and begun a noir-ish tale… Did Rorschsch come back, to foil an assassination attempt, and die in the process?
Did he come back, and fail at an attempt at assassination?
Or, Gentle Readers, is there a whole slew of balls in the air we just haven’t seen yet, that we are going to be expected to juggle deftly, as they drop just into sight?

I have said before I am not a fan of Joshua Williamson’s writing.
Maybe I just don’t like him on the Flash. 
Four issues, each of them a very good story, each building, with some action and humor, to a smash mouth endpoint, that brings us to Death Metal #5.
I have to say, I’m enjoying this run of Justice League, even with the switch of artist teams mid - tale Xermanico’s work os beautiful, right into the valley of the Starros (that gave me giggle fits!) Rocha and Henriquez’s work is very pretty, and a little darker than Xermanico’s, giving a more atmospheric touch to the Antenna of LOD.
I have to admit, they do a mean Kori, as well! Really FIERCE, with a Full Length mohawk!
Well worth the cost of admission, and a strong addition to the Metal storyline.

Four words that have ended more relationships than violence.
Dan Jurgens has done a masterful job of tying up the Ric Grayson / Amnesias storyline that seems to have run for nigh on ever… by bringing it full circle to Anatoli Knyazev, the KGBeast.
The artwork in these two issues was pretty, with obvious switches between that of Travis Moore (the Titans / Batgirl pages) and Ronan Cliquet’s Batman / KGBeast pages.
Nicely tied up, completing multiple storylines in two issues. Ready to move forward/

Damian Wayne, Robin.  Cassie Sandmark, Wonder Girl. Bart Allen, Impulse. Conner Kent, Superboy. Stephanie Brown, Spoiler. Keli Quintela, Teen Lantern. Zan and Jayna. the Wonder Twins. Jinny Hex, Naomi, Amethyst,
Twenty issues in, and the book is cancelled… or is planned to end. Either way, this is a suck way to do things, DC.
This is a great group of characters. Much better than the roster in the Young Justice cartoon, simply for the diversity. Some heroes just coming into their own, some who have existed for years,  (the Wonder Twins have been around in MULTIPLE iterations since the 1970’s), all helping each other… This was a great jumping in book for pre-teens who weren’t up for all the violence / hyperkinetic action / storytelling of a true adult book.
And, it was FUN!
Bendis, Walker and Godlewski produced a fantastic product every month.
One which is ending too soon. Unless, of course, it is going to come back in a new package…

So, what are the rules around DEAD Characters returning?
Do they have to be relevant after so many years? Shouldn’t they be, well, driven to do something? Not take more than 50 issues to finally get around to saying…”Bazinga!’, or it’s equivalent?
I must admit, issue 50 is the first issue of a Spider-Man book I picked up, and started to enjoy, until I realized I needed to pick up the LR issues also in order to get the whole story. Didn’t’t we get enough of this in the Shooter Years? 
What about a year and a half ago, when Marvel vowed they would never pull this crap again?? 
I guess they forgot… (Insert comparison to jackass in office here).
Too much work, don’t really care.
Especially when the reveal of who Kindred is happens in issue 50, and Peter finds out in #53… Puh-Leez!
At least it’s not Professor Warren and his Gwen Stacy clone. **BRRRRR** Freakin’ Creepy Old Perv!

So, Lucius Fox is one of the richest men in the world. 
Selina Kyle has put the Bat on a One Year Clock to get his stuff together, or she walks.
Clownkiller might be the Bernard Goetz of Superhero Vigilantism (look up the reference, I can’t do everything!), but he goes about proving you can’t keep a good vigilante killer down if he has Google.
Ghost Maker is more than we thought, and knows who Bruce Wayne keeps in the closet (or cave).
Is there anyone in Gotham who doesn’t know who Bruce Wayne is?
Tynion continues to pump out some great product, the stories and characters do not disappoint. Including Grifter as Fox’s ‘bodyguard’ was a nice touch, having him get the drop on Batman, a nicer one.
The art in both books, while vastly different, is simply gorgeous. I want to see more od the team of Pagulayan and Miki, I’m hoping to see their work grow with the storylines.
Next issue, BATTLE Sequences! Should be fun, not that it hasn’t been so far.

Once upon a time, Sax Rohmer wrote stories about the machinations of one Fu Manchu, and his oft overturned attempts to take over the world.
In 1973, Steve Engelhart and Jim Starlin brought Shang Chi, son of Fu Manchu into the Marvel Universe, where he and his MI-6 partners Clive Reston and Black Jack Tarr were responsible for being the monkey wrenches in the machinery of Fu Manchu’s Plans.
It seems that Shang Chi is back, without his prior father. He is still proficient in all forms of martial arts, but now, he is ‘Champion of House of the Deadly Hand’ (like that name isn’t going to come to but him in the butt like a Karmic werewolf), and since the passing of his ‘Father”, now the Commander of the Five Weapons Society.
The artwork is pretty, and the story, steeped in Asian Mysticism, is a little draggy so far. Is the story good? Yeah, it’s a nice reminder of a character I exjyed a long tome ago.
Will it get better? Time will tell.

In the late 60’s, on certain New York television stations, the Saturday Afternoon hours were filled with Japanese imports, Kaiju - United Science Patrol, and of course the story of the death of Moroboshi, and the coming of Ultraman.
Ultraman, a human - alien symbiosis, who fought the Kaiju menace coming to take over the Earth.
Forward to 2020, a new Ultraman, with a new team of USP helpers / friends, and what looks at this point to be a corrupt system surrounding them.
This creative team has done a marvelous job with the material thus far, reviving this character for a modern reader.
It’s just a shame it’s only 5 issues…
It is definitely worth the read.

Ten years ago, Scott Snyder, Rafael Albuquerque and Stephen King started a journey which has spanned 10 Years in real time, but 200 years, and 12 separate cycles in series time.
The current iteration has our favorite group of vamps and exterminators running around 1976, wrecking discos, trains, and graveyards, all in the name of bringing back Stoker’s primary villain.
Snyder proves again he is up to the task of creating a world of whimsy and horror, providing mayhem, madness, and the occasional snorting giggle. His droll wit, and ability to write a phenomenal action piece makes this cycle of the American Vampire story a must read.

Burrito’s Guide To Survive Coronavirus Quarantine
We got to keep social distance (1 or 2 meters each other) or stay home during coronavirus outbreak so I thought I can share with y’all some things I’m gonna watch or do doing quarantine (this is a very long post, REBLOGS ARE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!).
BUT FIRST SOME RULES:
Wash your hands: do it for 20 seconds or a while, but ALWAYS do it. It prevents the virus from spreading. If you don’t have sanitizer, water and soap! The cheapest and best ally against the disease.
Buy everything you need: if you can, try to buy stuff so you can stay some days at home. If the place is crowded, go back home and come later when it’s more empty. Same as medicine.
You can go for a walk: stay at home all day can be overwhelming for your mental health, but unless the goverment puts a curfew or gets strict about it you can go walk outside for a while always respecting the 1 or 2 meters from other people and without making contact (chatting) with other people. This ain’t my rule, a CDC professional says. DON’T go visit your friends or to crowded places such as bars, restaurants, shoppings, etc. If you want to buy something, ask for delivery or take away.
If you have coronavirus sympthoms (high fever, diarrhea, cough, feeling tired, breath difficulties) DON’T GO TO THE HOSPITAL YET, CALL TO YOUR PUBLIC HEALTH ORGANISATION OR WHATEVER YOU GOT AND THEY’LL TREAT YOU.

SO YOUR LIFE IS ON QUARANTINE
Let’s say your boss or your school told you can stay at home. Okay then, you gotta prepare for some days inside *Isolation by John Lennon plays in the distance*. The first thing you think is you have to prepare a batch of series and movies to watch in order to kill some time. I’m gonna recommend you some you can find on VOD or cable, if you don’t have it don’t worry because I got you covered!
Infinity Train: a yet two seasons saga about people who got to face their problems aboard an endless train. The protagonists are joined by creatures who have different nature and help them, or not, to acknowledge their issues and leave the train. It’s on CN, it will continue on HBO Max.

The Owl House: a teen girl who daydream a lot was going to be sent to a down-to-earth camp but then she crosses a portal to the Boiling Isles, a magical world where she is taken care by a powerful Owl witch/saleswoman and her adorable demon. Lots of fantasy, some action scenes and many many puns. It’s on Disney Channel, it’ll be on Disney+ in some weeks.
Primal: Genndy Tartakovsky delighted us with the alliance of a caveman and a dinosaur, two rivals in a wild world who ally after facing a devastating event. It IS brutal and beatiful, has no dialogue and keeps you watching closely. Five final episodes are set to premiere this year. It’s on Adult Swim, maybe on HBO Max.
Tuca and Bertie: for the critics, one of 2019 best shows. For Netflix, a show that had to be cut off because the studio unionized. Two friends in their late 20s face changes in their lives: from living with a boyfriend and plan a life to look a way to stay sober and get a job. Deals with trauma, ptsd, anxiety and more harsh moments very well. In fact, the creator is a vital part of Bojack Horseman! It’s on Netflix.

Aggretsuko: red pandas are cute eh? But what about a antopomorphic red panda who releases her anger and frustrations by singing at a karaoke? This awesome comedy by Sanrio & Netflix is one of anime’s big hits lately. Like T&B, has a good handle of adult problems but not going too deep just to not break the comedy. You can watch it on Netflix.
Regular Show: yeah-uuuuhhhh! Eight seasons, a movie, five Halloween specials and some others. The adventures of a racoon and a blue jay with their co-workers/friends that relies on psychadellia and 80s and 90s nostalgia. It begins good, gets better, then lowers the quality (they were producing the movie at the same time tho, give some credit) and with and after the movie ends awesome. It’s on CN web, dunno if on Hulu (US only) and proably on HBO Max.

Evangelion: it’s a classic at this point, but addictive to me because I end rewatching the series or the final movie many times. A post apocalyptic future where the world has to deal with strange creatures known as the Angels and a boy with lots of traumas has to get on a mecha to save the humankind. All the characters have traumas and issues, the interaction between them or the action makes it worth. The End of Evangelion is a movie that ends the unfinished series. Warning: at some point it becomes very twisted and there are scenes which are too much violent. Viewer disclosure etc. It’s on Netflix worldwide.
Steven Universe & SU Future: this is the tale of the gem boy who ends a galactical tyranny and brings democracy to the universe. A acclaimed show that broke through many topics like gender, identity, ptsd, relationships and many more. Besides it’s got the best scores of the Milky Way and beyond thanks to the talent of Rebecca Sugar, Aivi Tran and Surasshu. And the actors and acrtresses! I don’t forget the movie, a musical that is an introduction to the epilogue: Shippuden Future. The show is available on CN and will be on HBO Max. Worldwide? No news.

Adventure Time: something that began as an innocent boy and a magical dog having adventures in a post apocalyptic world turns into the journey of Finn Metens from childhood to almost adulthood. There is a lot of fantasy and comedy you enjoy, but there are dark moments and serious ones through S6 that find a balance with early seasons form S7 to the finale. It also has great music, memorable moments and colaborations. And guess what? There is going to be a special set to premiere on HBO Max in some weeks! You got plenty of time to catch up or rewatch before that on CN or only (!!) S5 on Netflix.
Final Space: a dude tries to save the universe with their friends, where we can find his love interest, a cat-man and his kitten son, a intersexual alien, an AI then robot that is the best of them, two particular siblings and an annoying bot that prevents insanity that makes you insane. Crazy adventures in space, lots of situations, sadness, an evil smol bean who is a space emperor, a dude who looks for revenge, space deities that can destroy the universe. Is this a lot or info? It is not, because there is more and you can watch it on TBS, Adult Swim and Netflix (the world except US).
Rick and Morty: the most powerful, smartest human in the universe has adventures with his grandson. It’s awesome, but has a very toxic fanbase. Anyway, you can enjoy it on Adult Swim or Netflix (which is up to date!) and the rest of S4 is set someday.
Bojack Horseman: a Hollywood satire about human relationships, fame, traumas with a pour of comedy. Alongside the previous series, the best adult animation of the decade. Sadly cut by Netflix because the studio unionized (see T&B), said by both the creator and Aaron Paul. You can watch the six amazing seasons on that platform.
I’m not an animated movies guy, but here are three I really like and you can watch:
Porco Rosso: a handsome Italian combat aviator turned magically to a pig has a face off with an American pilot hired by pirates to get rid of him before WWII in Fascist Italy. It’s entertaining and, like every Ghibli movie, nice to watch. It’s on Netflix and will be on HBO Max for US.

Lego Batman Movie: Batman is depressed and has to get over it. It’s wacky and has lots of comedy. Plus Will Arnett is top 3 Batman. On Netflix (Latinamerica).
Spiderverse: Oscar winner movie about your friendly neighbour Peter Parker Miles Morales. Miles sees Spiderman die and feels bad after being transfered to a private school. Then a radioactive spider from a Fisk compound bites Miles and he’s Spiderman... among other dimensions’ Spiderpeople: Gwen, Peni, Peter Parker, Noir and Peter Porker. It’s visually amazing. On US it’s on Netflix (I guess), on Latinamerica on HBO.
Some interesting live actions I watched lately
Atlanta: Donald Glover is Earn, a dude who struggles to find a job for her baby girld and sees an opportunity when his cousin, Paper Boi, has a hit and uses him to make his cos famous. Sometimes a comedy, sometimes a social satire with touches of drama. And all protagonists are now big shots, like Zazie Beetz, Brian Tyree Henry or Lakeith Stanfield. There are two seasons and two seasons set for 2021 (2022 possible beacuse of coronavirus). It’s on FX, Hulu (US) and Netflix (world)
Avenue 5: this is brand new. On 2060 space cruises are a thing, and one cruise (the Avenue 5) has an accident that leaves the crew and passangers stranded for years. The captain (Hugh Laurie) has to solve this shit with a bunch of incompetent crew, bosses like Judd (Josh Gad), except one female engeneer who is very smart. Lots of crazy things happen in this series from the creator behind Veep. It’s on HBO (it’s free in the US!).
Peaky Blinders: it has some years but damn it’s epic. A gang from Birmingham makes their way to the top during the late 1910s after the Great War and extends through the 1920s. S5 is right in the ascension of fascism in Britain. ALL THE CAST acts spectacular, names like Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Anna Taylor-Joy and a long etc. But my fave is Paul Anderson, that ultra violent junkie Arthur Shelby is splendid, then is Tommy and aunt Pol, the baddest badass woman in Britain. Blinders is going to have seven seasons, there are two left. You can watch it on BBC or Netflix.

Sex Education: speaking of Britain, excellent teen comedy. Horny, doubtful teenagers going through those hard years. Stories of sex (duh!), abuse situations, abortion, there are gay relationships either, Gillian Anderson! It’s on Netflix, go go go!
Watchmen: despite not having Alan Moore on board, Damien Lindeloff did a tremendous job with the comic. Way better and less misleading than Zack Snyder’s 2009 film, Watchmen is again at the gates of the world’s end (like today) and handles the problem of racism and white supremacy quite well. Just 9 episodes, but worth to watch. On HBO.
CAOS: Sabrina the Teenage Witch is over. Warner and Netflix made a revival of the Archie Comics character and brought her to XXI Century. But gorier, hornier, dark and magical than the nice 90s sitcom. Sabrina Spellman goes from a doubtful teen who has to decide if she has to be a witch or a powerless woman to rule Hell. How she does it? Find out on Netflix! Note: S1 and 2 take some episodes to start properly. Don’t get bored too easy.

Ghost-Spider #3 Thoughts

More of the same but now with extra smaller problems.
You know my complaints about the inherent premise of this title? Those still stand, just take those as read from now on.
This issue compounds those problems though through a several smaller problems that in isolation might be merely nitpicks but collectively speak to how ill thought out this book is.
We finally get John Jameson after he’s been talked about for 2 issues and wouldn’t you know it there is little fanfare. It’s not a character introduction because this book isn’t written for new reader’s it’s written for the old lapsed ones who apparently still know what happened in the previous volumes
When John threatens Miles the latter retorts John is scarier when he’s bigger than he is. But John is clearly bigger and more dangerous than Warren. John is a man in his 20s or 30s and Warren is some middle aged nerd.
This dialogue refers to Earth 65 Peter Parker as a mad scientist and implies he had something to do with Spider-Gwen’s creation. It plays as rather intriguing..if you never read older Spider-Gwen issues…like her origin! Peter didn’t create Spider-Gwen at all unless there was some huge retcon I didn’t know about. Moreover this book is again presuming familiarity on the part of new readers. If you hadn’t read the older volumes this dialogue about Peter makes no sense and gives you a false impression.
Gwen claims that in Peter’s dimension people don’t look up which allows for her entries and exits from Earth 616 to go unnoticed. But this is dumb because if you live in a world of super humans where death could come from above you absolutely WOULD look up from time to time!
At the start of the issue Gwen is happy that she’s learning important things that don’t involve punching people but then towards the end of the issue she’s explaining how well things are going and how her day would be perfect if she COULD hit someone. Isn’t that a little contradictory?
The art has stepped down and isn’t as tight as in the first 2 issues.
Peter is surprised to find out Gwen’s clothes are made from her symbiote. Peter is too smart to have not deduced that. It’s really obvious considering he, Brock, Kasady and literally everyone else who sported a symbiote didn’t mother with much more than underwear.
Speaking of obvious deductions. It turns out Benji Jones is in league with the Jackal because she figured out who he was…So…a teenager could see past his brilliant disguise of growing a beard on his chin and changing his name…but literally nobody else could? Staff members at ESU haven’t recognized him at all? Even if they weren’t around when he worked here for God’s sake there’d be systems in place to check  considering he’s one of at least two ESU staff members who have become notorious super criminals. Especially if Tony Stark is involved in funding a student program for extradimensional or extraterrestrial people!
Is Benji really just evil because she wants to be a furry and protect other animals? That’s a backstory in desperate need of elaboration because as is, it’s asinine.
Miles Warren has contacts in the criminal underworld and in his debut as the Jackal literally recruited the help of the fucking Punisher. But the best way to find out where Gwen lives is through a teenage girl who wants to be a furry. Couldn’t he just hire/clone a private eye or something. He doesn’t know Gwen has powers so he wouldn’t be worried about her spider sense. Speaking of which…
How the fuck does Gwen’ Spider Sense even work? It alerts her to Warren, the guy who doesn’t want to hurt her (just have creepy sex with her) but it stays quiet about Benji. The (kinda dumb) reason Warren doesn’t set off Peter’s spider sense is that Peter considered him a friend (although an 80s flashback implied Warren did set it off a little one time). So Peter’s spider sense doesn’t react to a guy who wants him dead so he can shag his girlfriend purely because peter doesn’t consider him an enemy…but Gwen’s reacts when he doesn’t want to hurt her and he’s a stranger to her…but it also doesn’t react to a girl she’s known for 2 weeks and who’s been spying on her since her first day. WTF! It doesn’t even alert her when Benji is in her furry form and spying on her portal.
Warren is being super unreasonable even for him here. He punishes Benji or failing him when she failed specifically because she had no means of dimensional travel and because she was working off the incorrect information he  gave to her!
Warren claims Gwen really is the genuine article when he finds out she’s from another universe. Okay first of all, unless I am mistaken wasn’t he aware of Spider-Gwen way back in Clone Conspiracy. He’s literally met her before. Second of all if he is aware of parallel universes (which I’m pretty sure he was before this doesn’t that really destroy the idea that this is his Gwen? That means there are an infinite number of ‘real’ Gwens out there. Thirdly, like I have said before, Warren considers the clones of Gwen as the real thing anyway. That was the whole point. Cloning her was in his eyes a form of resurrecting her.
The dialogue about the Web of Life and Destiny not only reminded me of that shitty Slott lore but worse tried to imply Spider-Man’s life is literally guided by destiny. This is awful and undermining for his and everyone else’s character as it’s saying his free will was irrelevant until Spider-Geddon! I don’t think it’s bad for peter to BELIEVE in destiny in his life, but the idea he is literally guided by it, that Gwen Stacy and Uncle Ben were ALWAYS going to die regardless of his choices is horseshit and invalidates his entire life philosophy.
Bodega bandit, who annoyed me in Latour’s run, returns and wouldn’t you know it he’s not properly introduced for new readers.
On the one hand I like that Gwen feels guilty about Bodega bandit but then thinks it through and realizes things would happen in her universe no matter what. On the other hand it’s a flimsy attempt to justify the premise of the title because YES Gwen not protecting HER dimension is irresponsible. Peter Parker would leave his studies or down time to go out and deal with a crisis if he had to. Gwen can’t do that because she’s utterly out of the loop on Earth 616.
Gwen comments that Bodega Bandit was bound to be hurt eventually because he is a career criminal…but he was hurt just buying some pet food. It had nothing to do with being a criminal.
Apparently Benji’s serum to turn her into a furry is decades old and was obtained by Swarm. Once more there is no contet for new readers as to who the fuck Swarm is and even for those of us who o know this is poorly explained. When, where, what did Swarm do to get this thing and what even is it? Why is there a decades old serum to turn you into a furry and how and why does a teenager know about it? In summary this book continues to be a drag. Not recommended.

Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse headcanons/ramblings/theories possibly
Ok so, at the end of the movie it’s implied that Gwen reaches out to Miles and therefore that the other spiders can still reach through the other dimensions and can still keep in contact, so that got me thinking
Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Aunt May
So here are some feelsy headcanons and ramblings and kind-of-theories that I was crying over last night
It’s no secret that Peter grew attached to Miles while he was in his dimension. He would do anything to protect that kid, even though he’s pretty sure Miles could take care of himself. But he’s still paranoid, to the point where he sometimes can’t even sleep at night, knowing he’ll never see Miles again and never be able to know how he’s doing
And that’s when he discovers the portal. The Kingpin’s device had created small rifts, allowing for smaller, less dangerous portals to form between dimensions. But, they randomly appeared and disappeared. It was always in the same place, but it was hard for Peter to know when the portal would remain open.
The first time Peter decided to use the portal, MJ tried to stop him (yes they’re back together in my mind, I’ll write it later), and said that she wouldn’t let him go unless he let her go with him. He tried to insist that it was too dangerous and he COULD NOT lose her again, which softened her a bit but didn’t change her mind. Peter finally agreed, and the two passed through together...
Crashing right into Miles’ room, freaking out both him and his roommate and breaking their desk in the process.
Their reunion wasn’t exactly tearful, but it was emotional. The times between dimensions were different, as seen by all the varying ages of the spider-people, so Miles had aged and was now 18 years old. It shocked Peter and even freaked him out, but MJ and Miles helped him calm down. Miles and MJ hit it off quickly, as they did in his dimension, and things seem to be going pretty well. Peter keeps an arm around Miles the entire time as they talk, except when Miles’ roommate asks for an autograph (he could never refuse a request from a kid). 
Peter starts glitching though, having been out of his own dimension too long and worries that MJ will soon start to glitch as well, so they say their goodbyes and return home. Peter sleeps peacefully for the first time in a while, knowing Miles is still safe and doing well, as well as having MJ by his side. 
The next time Peter goes back, it’s an accident. It’s the anniversary of his Aunt May’s death, and he was visiting her grave. He brought her favorite flowers and sat in the grass in front of it, He talks to her a little bit, telling her about his crazy adventure in the other dimension and telling her the good news that he and MJ had gotten back together. He’d told her all that already, but it was therapeutic like she was still there. Then he starts talking about how it was his birthday a little whole before, and how weird it was that she hadn’t been there this year. He said how much he missed her. 
He starts bawling into his knees right there, clutching tightly onto the flowers and wondering what such a wonderful, sweet woman had done to die. She’d still had so much life in her, and Peter still needed her. He was an adult, sure, but inside he was still that scared kid who lost his parents and his Uncle Ben, and he just wanted to have someone who he knew would be there for him all the time. 
The portal opened up underneath him and he found himself falling onto the old couch in his Aunt May’s living room- well, not exactly his Aunt May, it was the blond Peter Parker’s, Aunt May. 
She came running in with her baseball bat ready to pummel whoever had broken into her house, but the sight that met hr was Peter Parker scrambling off of her now broken couch, looking better and thinner than when Miles had brought him to her, but still sad and lonely looking, especially with those tear stains and red eyes. She stands there for a moment, shocked, but then he utters a small ‘Hi, Aunt May’ that breaks both her heart and her daze, and she guides him into the kitchen, wrapping a blanket around his shoulders and fussing over him as she makes him a plate of dinner, glad for once that she had again made the mistake of cooking for two and not one. 
Peter stays longer that time, knowing he has a way to get back this time and wanting to see his Aunt May. They talk about old memories and laugh with each other, and to Peter, it feels just like old times. She has differences from his real Aunt May of course, but at her center, she’s the same woman, and Peter almost doesn’t want to leave. But they both know what the consequences would be, so she packs him up a plastic container of leftovers and gives him a kiss on the cheek before sending him off. 
Peter goes back a lot. It reaches a point where it’s almost unhealthy; he has become obsessed with that other dimension, where his Aunt May is still alive and there’s a kid who still doesn’t know what he’s doing and he’s stuck in a loop. He comes back happy, has some peace for a while, grows paranoid again, searches desperately for a portal and goes missing for days, and then returns, only for the cycle to repeat. 
MJ is worried for him but he tells her that he’s fine, even though he knows himself that it isn’t, but he can’t stop. To him, that world is perfect. The only thing that could stop him from going back would be the portals disappearing, and that becomes a new fear, one that eats away at him and causes him to look for some way, any way, to prevent that from happening. It becomes a sort of addiction and it swallows him up, taking completely over his life. MJ doesn’t leave but she knows that Peter is beyond anything she can fix, and just hopes that he’ll snap back to reality. 
And he does, when he watches his Aunt May die a second time. It hits him hard, harder than his real Aunt May’s death, not because this Aunt May grew to mean more to him, but because this time, he could have saved her. He watched as her death was broadcasted all over New York City. Someone had broken into her house, a regular burglar, someone Peter could have easily stopped, and had stolen all her valuables before shooting her so she couldn’t go to the police. 
Now he visits two graves, leaving a small bouquet of flowers at each one before going home. He doesn’t want to stay anymore.

With Many Dead Again In Spider-Man Clone Conspiracy, Are More To Come?
SPOILER WARNING: The following article contains major spoilers for “The Clone Conspiracy” #5 by Dan Slott and Jim Cheung, on sale now.
Dan Slott and Jim Cheung’s “The Clone Conspiracy” #5 concludes the event that stands to serve as a potential game changer for the future of Spider-Man’s supporting cast. Readers who cringe at the sound of the word “clone” even being mentioned in the same breath as Spidey probably aren’t going to be thrilled with the outcome, but the event series did more than just lay the groundwork for Peter Parker’s future; it also came to terms somewhat with the past. That potential future hangs on a thread thinner than Spidey’s finest webbing, but at least certain characters get their special moments that were previously denied them.

What’s The Frequency, Peter?
Last issue, Otto Octavius, aka Doctor Octopus, deduced that the decay of the Jackal’s clones around the world was the result of a specific ambient harmonic frequency. Anna Maria Marconi’s ability to determine the counter-frequency to neutralize that decay, along with Peter’s knowhow to broadcast that wavelength across the world, results in saving the lives of many of the Jackal’s clones all over the globe. While Anna claims that her solution is a permanent one that will halt the clones’ cellular decay entirely, Slott’s story doesn’t address exactly how that will work — unless the signal is never shut off and everyone on Earth is going to have to learn to live with that annoying tone in their heads for the rest of their days.
Even if the ambient wavelength that had created the initial decay no longer does so, it doesn’t seem all that unlikely that someone couldn’t eventually reinstate its destructive capacity. That someone could conceivably be Ben Reilly himself, should he eventually again decide that he’s just not cut out to be the Scarlet Spider in the pages of the upcoming ongoing series. This is especially true if he’s reconstituted in his self-proclaimed and supposedly improved proto-clone body that just might luck into being immune from the decay.

The bottom line is, a more permanent solution is required if any of these newly-cloned characters are destined to stick around. It would be a shame for any of them to be reestablished in the Spider-Man mythos, only to turn to dust when a local TV station airs their monthly test of the emergency broadcast system.
George and Gwen Stacy Get the Deaths They Deserve
Gwen Stacy never deserved to die, of course, nor did her father. But among the reasons Gwen’s death – that is, her original death – was so emotionally wrenching is that she died as a true victim, an unsuspecting pawn in the Green Goblin’s scheme to get at Peter Parker. George’s death at least was a heroic one, but it was heartbreaking in its own right because it happened in the absence of Gwen, whom he loved more than anyone else. It made for a powerful and revealing moment between him and Peter, but he never got the chance to say good-bye to his daughter.
Well, dead is dead, as has been said, but Slott’s story nonetheless gives the characters’ clones a second chance to die more apt and fitting deaths, deaths that bring with them some decades-late closure, in that fantasy, wish-fulfillment kind of way. As George withers away as a consequence of the Jackal’s scorched earth gambit, he does so with Gwen at his side, this time given the opportunity for his last words to be said to his own daughter rather than her still-grieving boyfriend.
When it’s Gwen’s turn to go, she doesn’t go down as a victim this time; she instead goes down fighting not only a decaying Hobgoblin and Jack o’Lantern, but also a clone of the very supervillain who killed her in a past life, with that memory still vivid in her mind.
It’s Peter vs. Peter, If You Squint Just Right
One of characters restored by the Jackal was the previously mentioned Doctor Octopus, who had faithfully served the Jackal until Ock took offense at Reilly’s offer to regenerate Anna into a new and “better” body. When Otto turned on the Jackal, this by default allied him with Peter, allowing the two villains to face off while Peter and Anna worked to counter Reilly’s destructive ploy.
This puts a curious spin on the character dynamic during this final battle, as Ben Reilly, the clone of Peter Parker who once believed himself to be Peter, battles Otto Octavius, the former occupant of Peter Parker once pretended to be the young hero.
Presuming that Doc Ock will somehow be brought back again — and it’s frankly difficult to imagine that he wouldn’t be at some point — this conflict might establish The Scarlet Spider as Ock’s new arch-foe, as opposed to Spider-Man’s. Of course, Peter still has a score to settle with Otto, as well as with Reilly, so the stage might also be set for a unique three-way animosity. (We smell a future Spider-verse crossover in the making.) Peter, of course, also stands for many of his old and once-dead foes to make a comeback, paving the way for some old enmities to be rekindled.
One of those enemies appears to be the focus of the upcoming “The Clone Conspiracy Omega” #1, on sale March 1 and featuring longtime Spider-Man villain Rhino, whose wife was resurrected and then died again during the events of “The Clone Conspiracy.”. Ben Reilly might face some of these villains, or perhaps go up against some new ones, in “Ben Reilly: Scarlet Spider” #1, on sale April 26.

I am genuinely concerned that comic book youtubers are going to create a GamerGate situation where there are extremists who poison the mass perception of people who criticise comic books or certain decisions in general.
 Like I have genuine problems with Amadeus Cho and Jane Foster being Hulk and Thor and I think Riri Williams and Miles Morales are bad characters (the latter being especially saddening because, unlike Riri, he had a strong initial concept powering him). I think Sam as Captain America was creatively problematic and that Marvel have been pulling the replacement hero thing for social/political reasons (and probably not sincere ones at that) as opposed to genuine creative ones. Similarly I think the America book is a lame super hero comic book and Gabby Rivera isn’t a strong super hero comic book writer. Similarly I think Marvel’s modern editors and assistant editors really do tend to suck at their jobs right now.
 But my rationales for all of those things honestly don’t have much crossover with certain Youtube comic book commentators (I’m sure you’ve all seen the kind) and I actually disagree and believe in a lot of other types of characters and directions cut from the same kinds of cloths as those above examples.
 I think Ice Man being gay made a certain amount of sense with his history and if you did have to pick a classical character to reveal as in the closet he was one of the best choices for it. We are in a position where Bobby could legitimately be given a strong romantic storyline and an iconic (for him, not necessarily within Marvel as a whole) love interest. I mean before Bendis had Jean out Bobby who honestly knew or cared who Bobby’s (comic book, not movie) love interests were? Hardly anybody aside from hardcore X-Men fans and most of them would argue Polaris was really the big one for Bobby. But at the same time most of them shipped Polaris with Havok anyway so what did that matter?
  I’ve said numerous times before Kamala Khan is the best new superhero character to come out of Marvel in the last 20 years. My problems with her series stem from the decompression alongside the fact that I don’t think her villain pool has been managed as well as it needs to be to enable her to last long term.
 Carol becoming Captain Marvel is something I find profoundly organic and logical, a brilliant stroke of character development that makes use of an iconic title by giving it to an iconic character who truly has claim to it. Look to me Carol’s outfit is always going to be the Ms Marvel outfit she wore for decades but at the same time to me Carol’s codename will always be Warbird, not Ms Marvel or Captain Marvel. I’m just from that generation.
 I think the general idea of temporarily having a black person become Captain America is interesting and understand the logic of making it Sam but at the same time I think the book never fulfilled it’s potential and ultimately Issiah Bradely or even Patriot would’ve been a much more interesting choice. But at the end of the day I cannot accept the creative bankruptcy of replacing Steve for the THIRD time and doing it the SECOND time in less than 10 years.
 I like Jane Foster’s Thor outfit, there are moments and aspects to her stories I find interesting but the way the series went about it overly denigrated the real Thor (and yes I will call him the real Thor, it is literally his name and he is supposed to be the actual figure from Norse mythology). I mean he was literally called out as ‘unworthy’ and the reason for his unworthiness made no sense at all. He realizes the Gods are assholes so he loses his worthiness. That isn’t how the hammer works, it’s just a binary ‘you are worthy or you are not’. Conviction in your personal beliefs doesn’t matter or else countless bad guys would be able to lift the hammer too. Additionally there were times where he narrative divulged into cheap, shallow in-universe attempts to ‘comment’ on the backlash against the concept. The Absorbing Man was at least somewhat exaggerating the complaints over a female Thor and at least dabbling in strawman arguments whilst Titania’s solidarity with Foster because she was stepping into the role of a man was utter out of character nonsense considering Titania’s arch nemesis is SHE Hulk. Jane consequently knocking out someone who’d surrendered was also ill considered. And I also cannot get over how we’ve been here before. Beta Ray Bill and Thunderstrike are testament to that. Once again creative bankruptcy.
 I’ve spoken countless times before how I think Miles had a good concept and still has potential but he’s been mismanaged and currently sucks shit as a character and how Marvel and certain fans and certain media outlets building him up as the best thing since sliced bread (or at least as great as Peter Parker) is profoundly unearned.
 I think the quality of editing at Marvel has clearly gone down hill but unless there really is some weird ass super Secret Empire conspiracy wherein Marvel went hardcore into hiring people because of their gender regardless of their qualifications, I don’t think the reason for that decline in quality is due to some (but far from all) of the editors and assistant editors being women. Frankly Steve Wacker is/was a major editorial player for awhile and his only legitimate qualification for being a Spider-Man editor was he could get the product on the shelves on time. The editing present in that product and their overall quality was shit 99% of the time. The guy lacked sufficient knowledge, passion or understanding of the character to really edit Spider-Man properly. This is a guy who was an amateur stand up comedian before entering comic books and has to my knowledge zero writing experience so why the fuck he was qualified to edit anything is beyond me. Maybe the new slew of editors and assistant editors are the same bunch of unqualified morons but I don’t think that’s got much to do with their sex or gender. After all Ann Nocenti was a solid X-Men editor and Molly Lazer edited Spider-Girl which was obviously a brilliant book. And shit Jeanette Kahn was President and EIC of DC comics for over 20 years and MOST of the stuff under her tenure was baller as shit. John Byrne Superman. Frank Miller Batman. Perez Wonder Woman. Wolfman Titans. DeMatteis/Giffin JLI. Kyle Rayner Green Lantern. Vertigo. Milestone. Watchmen. Frankly she oversaw what was maybe the single best EIC tenure for DC EVER in terms of quality.
  I gave up reading Coates’ BP run because I found it dull but I think T’Challa SHOULD have a book along with Blade, Luke Cage, Shang Chi and Jessica Jones.
I think the America Chaves series was problematic as a superhero story but the times where it does focus on the normal life stuff are generally good.
I was very impressed by Spider-Gwen when she debuted and looked forward to her ongoing, even defended her debut issue until I realized the critics were ont he money and it sucked and continues to suck to this day. It’s a profoundly shallow book but it could have been great and I supported it initially hoping it would be great.
I felt the Chelsea Cain Mockingbird series had moments of poor research, mischaracterisation and disingenuousness. I am specifically talking about how in issue #3 (I think) Cain uses Bobbi as a mouthpiece to criticise the lack of female representation within superhero comics. Okay cool. But she did it by essentially pretending that there never were any in the Marvel universe, that they got no respect in-universe and that Bobbi herself was at most a teenager growing up inspired by those male heroes whom she could never be like because she was male. Except there were female heroes, they did get in-universe respect (maybe not as much as was deserved but it wasn’t like people forgot they existed) and Bobbi is clearly too old to have grown up with any of the heroes other than the WWII guys like the Invaders. 
Similarly her retconning of the Phantom Rider thing in her final issue fixed one problem but did so utterly illogically whilst opening up multiple other problems. Look I’d also retcon the Hell out of Phantom Rider gaslighting and raping Mockingbird if given the chance I hate that plotline. But Cain retconned it by just having Mockingbird say that the stuff we have clear on the page evidence of didn’t actually happen. She was saying the colour blue is the colour red and always had been but it wasn’t. And Cain’s new spin on that Phantom Rider thing essentially threw Hawkeye under the bus by making him profoundly insecure and an asshole, because he’d rather believe his wife was raped rather than she cheated on him. Not to mention if Cain’s story is to be believed Mockingbird let the man she was sleeping with die for exactly no reason. There were other times during Cain’s run where I felt she was mischaracterizing some people or else was being too on the nose about stuff. 
But there were other times I thought the series was really funny, really action packed, i generally loved the pacing and I felt when it did cut more realistic (like the first issue when Bobbi is having a health check up) or in issue #3 when it was discussing the psychology of a sixth grade girl (even though said girl’s story had insufficient resolution, like did she go to jail or what?) it was incredibly refreshing. Truth be told a lot of the stuff in that series writing wise becomes easier to understand when you realize it’s partially a zany comedy and not really taking itself too seriously nor is it asking you to do the same, which is starkly different to say Spider-Gwen’s approach wherein it is playing stuff seriously but there is arbitrarily zany shit thrown in for the sake of it.
 I think Laura becoming Logan’s successor makes sense but it doesn’t mean it’s okay to just axe off Logan because he’s broken. FIX him and then down the line replace him. Laura’s book as is frankly just...an okay X-23 book with a new costume. I never cared for Laura outside of X-Men Evolution or the Logan movie (where she was more endearing) anyway.
 I didn’t agree with the female exclusive screenings of the Wonder Woman film but I also felt Zeus’s involvement in her origin was an unacceptable compromising of the specific feminist ideas and messages Wonder Woman was supposed to represent. I felt the same way about Azzarello’s run on the character which is where the Zeus origin came from and was happy Greg Rucka tried to fix that in his 2016 run.
 I’ve said before a poc actor playing Peter Parker is fine and dandy in my book and I was very open to Zendaya possibly playing Mary Jane (until I saw the movie...ugh...). My only concerns were in a significant way having the characters change to reflect the realities of them now being poc.
 I’ve suggested some basic ideas on how to maybe get more representation in Marvel and DC, including for queer, Trans and mentally ill characters and as I’ve seen it I’ve called shit out I found to be racist, sexist, homophobic, etc, e.g. I was disgusted by Civil War II killing off Rhodey and called out the way Cindy Moon was initially handled by Slott. And my frequent lambasting of MJ’s depiction under Slott (especially in Superior #2) should I hope by this point go without saying.
 So yeah my views don’t line up with those of Diversity and Comics but nor do they line up with those of ComicsAlliance and their hordes either. But because of people like the former people like the latter are going to broadbrush label and demonize people like me. People who might SEEM like we agree with guys like D&C but actually we’re coming at it from a very different angle and we don’t actually agree with their rationales 99% of the time.
 But in the times we live in right now nuance is apparently as dead as Batman’s parents.
 Frankly as I get older I guess I see myself socially/politically speaking being more of a moderate when it comes to comic books...and right now that feels like a profoundly lonely place to be.
