how to make readers think you're an expert on 19th century france
or quick and dirty tricks for writing canon era, because sometimes you just need a convincing historical backdrop for your angsty one shot.
Be specific about your time period! It may seem counterintuitive, but picking a specific year for your fic to take place in actually makes the research part easier. Even if the year isn't relevant at all to the plot and won't be mentioned. Let's say I need to add a political debate to my fic for plot purposes, but I've got no clue what to make them argue about. I'll pick 1828 as my year. I can just pull up the Wikipedia page for "1828 in France" and under "Events" it tells me that there was a new prime minister that year. Wikipedia says he was a more moderate royalist that replaced an ultra-royalist...a perfect topic for debate!
In fact, want to sound really knowledgeable? Sure, you could always have your characters complain about the king, but consider having them talk about the prime minister instead. (eg. Down with Polignac!) The ministers and their governments were powerful but not usually long-lasting or especially popular during this time period. Presumably, Enjolras hated all of them.
...and if you do mention the king, be specific! Louis XVIII, Charles X, or Louis-Philippe? Again, this is easily done by simply knowing what year it is.
Just talking about "The Cause" or "Revolution" (generic) makes it sound like you don't quite know exactly what you're talking about. Luckily, even if that's true, there's an easy fix. Use "the Republic" instead. (That's what "The Cause" is, and what the "Revolution" is for.) Also, unless they're actively revolutioning, it's generally better to refer to Les Amis as "republicans" instead of "revolutionaries," as republicanism is their actual political ideology.
The July Revolution of 1830 is a thing that happened. This is a useful event to reference. Use it to your advantage.
Just namedrop! Look up some operas or books that came out that year. Find some French Romantic authors Prouvaire could be reading. I'll admit it, I'm easily impressed when a fic references Lamartine or Hernani or whatever.
Don't use the word "homosexual." Didn't exist yet. Also, sodomy was decriminalized during the French Revolution...it's a whole complicated thing, but it is not illegal in our time period.
Make them do activities other than writing pamphlets? Writing pamphlets is a time-honored staple of canon era fic. Still, that doesn’t mean we can’t occasionally branch out. Some suggestions: recruitment, mutual aid, posting bail, gathering arms and ammunition, also Les Amis are outwardly a society for “the education of children”!
This is obviously not an exhaustive guide to writing canon era. You might notice that much of this advice boils down to “be more specific,” which is really the trick to seeming knowledgeable. The more specific you can be, the better it’s going to sound. If you do want to do more in-depth research, check out my resource collection!

You know, as a dedicated Jessa stan I wanna say that it's okay~ Because these two were together for 50 years or sth, there's still some things to add. We might watch them in their 30s, 50s, 60s. I guess at this point both camps have around the same amount of content. Plus I'll have Jessa in twp so I'm in peace 🌱
📍Clace
All my first thoughts are over here. I'm a Clace defender, I'm their oldest stan, I'm a veteran👩🦳 So I feel like I have a right to say that...it was kinda unnecessary. We've witnessed every step in their relationship so far, beginning of it in TMI, gentle transition to adulthood in TDA and Tales of Shadowhunter Academy, adulthood in SOBH and proposal. So if the story isn't about their wedding then WHAT THE HELL IS IT ABOUT REALLY? And we know that they won't get married until twp.

Hey🥺that is nice, we've seen so little of them in chain of thorns and I've loved them since their debut in 2018 in that short story. I'm very biased when it comes to TLH, cause I'm their mother. So YAY🌱they have a long way to go, Anna still needs to change a tiny little bit for them to be healthy, so I'd love to witness it

Lots of people defend it by saying that it might be important for Ash's background in TWP. But... No it's not. Because this is exclusive book made for few people who were lucky and financially stable enough to get it. It won't be posted online. So most people won't read it unless someone leaks it. So there's no point for that story to be important for the plot, therefore it has nothing to do with it.
And it's definitely not "one of the most beloved" couples. BUT LIKE... WHAT IF IT SLAYS? Toxic, unhinged romance, what if I'll love it? 🤡

So you see the problem? Because it's the same as Clace. What else might she add, because there's nothing. SoBH ended like yesterday. We know exactly where they live rn, their daily routine, their plans. So there's nothing to add between SOBH and twp. What will it be about? Hard to say, but I hope Cassie will come up with sth interesting for them.

Well... That was... Unexpected. I guess... I've just never met their fandom but I hope it's huge af, because I don't know why else would they be here. Sophideon, Gabrily and Charlotte with Henry were supposed to be here, let's be honest. But since they're here, I do think Cassie is able to make a decent story. I expect it to be bittersweet, angsty and somehow heartwarming. I think there's nothing to say except let's wait and find out.
OVERALL I think it's pretty fine. Maximum 7/10 from me. I was ready to face the worst, but it turned out to be... Fine. So it's fine☺🌱

do you have any predictions for the next adventure time eps? they will kill us all for sure, any thoughts on how exactly that could happen?
I'm gonna be so forreal I have no idea what they could possibly throw at us,,, they could do ANYTHING and 99% of the options would be horribly angsty. I don't have any specific theories/predictions so have an assortment of random thoughts instead
I will say that I don't think simon is gonna die. aside from betty's wish being for the power to keep him safe and him literally being in her presence, I don't think it'd be a satisfying conclusion to his arc. like,, every universe he's been to has repeatedly screamed the words "YOU, SIMON PETRIKOV, ARE IMPORTANT AND LOVED AND YOUR LIFE HAS VALUE" in his face, he learns nothing, and then dies. yeah it'd be sad, but from a story standpoint it's just not it for me. there are much worse things than death that he could experience.
I would like betty and simon to have an actual serious talk about the issues in their relationship but I doubt either of them have thought about it much jsjfjej with one refusing to grieve his fiancée and try to move forward and the other literally being an incomprehensible eldritch deity of chaos. even so I hope simon still calls her all the pet names he had and I hope how lovey-dovey this guy is with golbetty freaks the scarab out.
SPEAKING OF SCRABBY I've been thinking about it and I don't think golb is The Boss in question, bc it seems like The Boss sent the scarab directly to simon -- so unless golbetty completely misjudged how murder-y the scarab was, it probably isn't her. besides, why would the embodiment of chaos be in charge of the people keeping the multiverse in order? either way I want scrabby to be stupid afraid of golbetty. I think it would be Funny.
I've mentioned this before but I hope the b-plot is about our ooo, and how simon just Went Missing. I also kinda hope episodes 9 and 10 are structured the way 1 and 2 were, in the way that one episode is solely about fionna and cake, and the other is solely about simon. I think it would be a nice way to come full circle.
also I would like to see prismo again please release him from The Cube my man is INNOCENT
back to simon and betty. I want golbetty to tell simon to give her the crown and I want him to refuse, at least for a little bit. I want him to say he needs it, to save fionna and cake's universe. I want him to admit that he doesn't WANT to become the ice king again, that he never did, that he still despises every second he spent as that crazy old wizard, but people liked him more anyway and I'm helping people by doing this and that makes it worth it.
end of thoughts I might rb this and add more later but!!!!!! there's so much they can do and I'm afraid of All Of It I just hope simon doesn't get a horrific ending. ALSO feel free to add on your own thoughts/theories/predictions/etc (this goes for everyone :]) I want to see them!!!!!!!

hello! 🌟 (she/he pronouns) 25 year old, long time roleplayer searching for 20+ partners for a descriptive literate to novella style roleplay! it will most definitely include smut, the logistics of which we can go over-i am open to some dead dove / dark content. as of right now i am strictly looking for oc x oc!
i have found it is also a must for me to be able to chat with my partner ooc! if we don’t generally vibe outside rp, personally i’ve found it can totally kill the rp for me. i am the type of person that loves brainrottin’ and gushing over our characters together, as well as swapping any moodboards / playlists / head canons / etc. so i’m kind of hoping you do too!
my final must is that you have to be okay with plus size and/or poc face claims! I think diversity makes it all the more fun. additionally, trans and nonbinary ocs are totally welcome, but just know my character will probably be female/afab regardless.

- okay no big idea here but the plot of the movie moulin rouge! could be set in the same era or modern, but something kinda angsty where a tortured/lovesick artist or poet x popular dancer / s worker who can’t fall in love

I'm a sucker for a happy ending, so this is much harder to answer! I am avoiding answering this with the obvious innuendo haha. Maybe In Any Life? I feel like the vibe of that last chapter is so very soft, with a spring breeze blowing through the window in the house Fenris and Maria made together c:

I've gotten some snarky comments, but never outright hate (thankfully!)

Yes--not sure what is meant by "kind." M/F and F/F--soft and gentle, hard and fast, mildly kinky, plot-relevant and pwp, etc. A variety of smut, haha.

Not really. Crossovers aren't really my jam, but if I wrote one it would probably be Inquisition characters in Mass Effect (like a genre switch thing, not picked up and dropped into our solar system).

When I was like 13 on FF.net, yes. It's why I stopped writing fic until I was 28.

Not that I know of!

Only in a sense! I have a few pieces sharing an OC with a friend that were largely rp first before I set them down as a narrative c:

God. Don't ask me this haha. My first DA ship was Fenris/Hawke and it still lives so closed to my heart, but Cullen/Lavellan got me into the fandom and Zevran/Tabris brought me someone very dear to me. I don't think I could ever judge any of them by the merits of the ship alone at this point!
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Hmmm more than I'd like to admit :/ Probably The Red Crossing Arrangement, which is an arranged marriage/Halamshiral still belongs to the elves AU. It took so much more world building that my ability to write it slowly petered out. The odds are high that it will remain at roughly 80k for the foreseeable future (unless I suddenly want to get back to working out trade routes and governance and commerce, which is what did me in; I'm good at world-building culture on account of the degree and all, but the semantics of daily life don't really interest me as much)
(tragically, this means the Adalene and Elandrin fix-it portions of this story may never be published :C and this does honestly make me so sad :C)
16. What are your writing strengths?
Voice and characterization/internal dialogue. I've been told that the canon characters I write feel very similar to canon and that's something I'm really proud of c:

Physical space. I forget to define the setting very, very frequently. It's the next thing I want to focus on in my writing, actually, when I get back into it!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Eh. I think it can add flavor, especially in fantasy settings where the cultures and worlds are built dissimilarly to the real world. I don't think there's anything especially fun about not being able to discern what's happening in conversation---I think it's most effective when it's a handful of phrases that repeat (hello, I'm sorry, I love you, etc.) or when followed by a translation of some sort.
As a lover of Latin, I especially find google translations very unreliable and often incorrect. Better to just italicize it and indicate it's another language, imo.

A charismatic knight attempting to get a cold person to spar with them?
haha this is super fluffy and cute! unless… (featuring adrien, wanting to add angsty plot twists to everything)
tws: swords, peer pressure, stabbing, fluff, angst, tragic endings & corruption (the fluff ends at the ☕️!)
“One round!”
The witch peeled their gaze from the inside of a spellbook, grimacing. Knight-boy had dropped a jousting sword by their foot, beaming expectantly.
Damn that dazzling smile.
The witch cleared their throat and looked back down. “I am in the middle of studying.”
“You’re always in the middle of studying!” The grin reached their eyes now, clearly not deterred in the slightest.
“Perhaps that’s a sign to leave me be.”
“Or ‘perhaps’ you’re being stubborn.”
Their counterpart scoffed a little, turning a page. “One of us certainly is.”
With a dramatic groan, the knight crossed their arms. “You’re no fun! Don’t you want to do anything other than read?”
Have you ever even read a book? “Go away.”
“I need someone to practice with!”
“You have other friends. Ask one of them.”
That did… something. An awkward silence immediately washed over the two and the knight fell quiet, fidgeting awkwardly with the plates of their armor.
“You… do have other friends, don’t you?”
“You’re the best opponent out of everyone I’ve fought.”
How bizarrely avoidant. “I hardly know how to wield a sword. You’re lying through your teeth.”
“Maybe so, but you’re cunning! And unpredictable! Hell, last time I saw you fight, you hit a guy with a spell and he went crying for his mother…” They trailed off, as if revisiting a fond memory.
“You were… there? You watched my duel?”
The knight nodded enthusiastically, beaming yet again. “They don’t train us how to deal with magic users in the field, so I go to your matches. I’ve been taking notes! And you’re the only one that I know that actually uses magic, so…”
A slight heat creeped on to the witches’ face, stumbled for words. “That’s– you’re– just study books, or something.”
“I know that’s what you do,” their counterpart pouted, leaning on a sword. “But I’m so much better learning through experience. I didn’t exactly read a book on the best place to stab someone. I just.. tried a couple times until I figured out what made them fall the fastest.”
It was hard not to smile at that. “So I should spar you because… You’ll learn my tricks and stab me?”
“W…What! No!” The knight squawked, eyes wide. “No, you should spar me because it will be fun! And you can… practice spells on me, or something?”
“I’m teasing.”
“Oh.” Their cheeks flushed a light pink.
The witch signed fondly. Damn them being this cute, too. “You’re not going to leave me alone until we spar, are you?”
Sensing where this was going, the knight lit up. “Correct.”
“And you’ll let me go back to studying afterwards?”
“Right again!”
“I guess that leaves me with one option,” The witch stood from their seat with a halfhearted stretch. “Do not actually stab me.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it.” Their friend took their wrist and tugged them towards the training fields, grinning wildly.

The witch peered over the battlefield with a disgusted grimace. They’d never seen this much carnage in one battle; frankly, they never processed that it would go this far.
Lives must be lost in the name of revolution. Blood must be spilled.
It was simply the amount of blood…
They sighed, kicking their final fallen foes body to the side. God, do I need a drink. With a yawn, they made their way further into the kingdom.
Knights didn’t really train in the way of magic users, a old friend once told them. The training must not have changed much over the years, because these warriors had been pathetic; the King had said they’d be the best and brightest, and in total the battle had been about 20 minutes.
(As they walked, they noticed the streets to the castle were clear of civilians. Unsurprising, but nonetheless very welcome.)
Of course, the King had always been an incompetent buffoon. The witch had experienced his stupidity first hand after being thrown in the dungeons the day of their graduation. ‘Magic is far too dangerous,’ he’d said. ‘You’ll corrupt all of our holy warriors.’
They all were slain now, so what good had it done him?
Reaching the castle gates came with relative ease. The Witch knocked, for the sake of politeness.
(They hadn’t really expected the doors to open, but they still internally scoffed at how rude the royal was even now.)
The path to the throne room wasn’t long once they blew open the doors with a simple spell of wind. Sure, their approach would be obvious, but where did the old man have to hide?
“O mighty king,” They sung from the final turn. “Judgement day has finally arrived.”
They rounded the bend and in front of them laid the massive corridor with a throne in the back. Sitting on the throne was the old man, as cold and cocky as ever. The witch peered up to him with a grin.
“Any final words, your highness?”
“You said you would kill my entire army before you finally came for my head.”
The witch laughed airily, a spine-chilling sound. “Perhaps you need to look outside, my king. Your men lay in shambles, they died merciful deaths… Yours will not be nearly as kind.”
The king grunted acknowledgment, but a small devilish grin emerged on his lips. “That was not my entire army.”
“Then you forgot to send them all. It is your flaw, not mine.” They prepared a spell, holding an orb of necrotic magic in their hands with ease. “I will kill all those that face me, and everyone who dared has already fallen.”
“There’s one more who dares. It was simply a fight I wanted to overlook.”
The witch scoffed, taking aim regardless. “Who?”
The king motioned behind them.
Wary of a trick, they spun on their heels slowly. Their breath instantly caught in their throat.
Their darling knight, head hung low, stood inches from them.
Years of age weighed on their face, and their stance was far worse for wear than anything the witch had remembered. Eyebags. Ragged breathing. A shell of their former glory at best, but the person they’d once loved all the same.
“What has he done to you?” The witch whispered, voice tender and low.
The hero wrenched their eyes shut, drawing their sword. “One round.”

Some challenge prompts might look like typos to you. While I always appreciate when you point those out to me so I can fix them (seriously, please do let me know if I missed something!), please check first if there isn't an in-game challenge with that exact name, because so many of them look like I forgot how to spell. :D
Fun fact, did you know that there are roughly 1,200 challenges in the game? I wasn't joking about the "instead of sleeping" part of the title.
Additionally, there are long lists with smutty, kinky, romantic, angsty and whumpy prompts.
You can opt-out of NSFW, Shipping and Angst by not opting in (I swear this makes sense in my head right now), but if you select the theme "Romance" from the dropdown menu, you will get shippy prompts even if you don't tick the Shipping checkbox, and if you select Hurt/Comfort from the dropdown menu you will get angsty prompts even if you don't tick the Angst checkbox. I recommend ticking the Shipping or Angst checkbox if you select Romance or Hurt/Comfort for a larger pool of prompts.
You will not get NSFW prompts unless you tick the NSFW checkbox.
However, some mission stories and challenges have names that could be mistaken for NSFW prompts. I haven't put them behind the filter, and I don't know if I will do that in the future.
If you don't like a prompt, you can just re-roll that one specific prompt by clicking/tapping the field it's in.

The bingo generator has four themed lists so far: General Prompts, Mission Fic, Romance, and Hurt/Comfort.
I will be adding more at appropriate times, such as a summer list for summer (Northern Hemisphere) or a Halloween list for Halloween. Those will be permanent additions. It's just a lot of work, and I have so many more plot bunnies and code bunnies and art bunnies, so I really have to space these updates out. xD
If you'd like to suggest a theme or donate a list of prompts, please feel free to do so!
How to Play
Create the card you want, do with it whatever you want.
You can take the prompts literally or interpret them any way you like. If it's the name of a mission story or challenge, you can use the mission story or challenge itself as a prompt, or come up with something just based on the name. If it's a pun, you can use the prompt as-is or remove the pun element from it.
Use as many or as few prompts as you want in a fic, or in a drawing, or in a daydream. You make the rules!
If you think a bingo should require a line of prompts used in one single work, cool. If you think four single works should count, that's cool too. And again, if you don't like a prompt, just re-roll it until you get one you like more.
Just have fun with it! :)
Mobile Version
The mobile version is working, but word breaks for longer words won't be pretty. I still need to add word break opportunities, but that's a lot of work, and I will probably do this in small batches over the next month or so.
If you want a prettier card, you can re-roll prompts with unpretty word breaks by tapping on the prompt you want to change.
Keyboard-Only Users
For accessibility, all prompt fields have added button functionality, which means you can use tab to select them and enter to interact with them. Your browser needs to have JavaScript enabled for that to work, though.

Honestly? Only when I feel I have something to add to the comment. Sometimes I see a comment with "Great Chapter/Episode" (which I really absolutely love, btw. Any comment makes me so damn happy I can't even explain) and I never know what to say to that and I don't want the person to feel I don't care about their comments when I just reply with "Thanks! I'm Glad you liked it <3" and I keep thinking about different things to read and I never can and when I see it, I have a bunch of unanswered comments which makes me overwhelmed to start.
So yeah, I usually only reply when I know what to say lol
6- What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ending? (none? lol)
Posted, I'd say "The Way I Loved You", which I thought the ending might be kinda open? I don't usually do sad endings. I think "Faithuffy", "Of Noble Blood" and "You Belong With Me" have some rather angsty parts, along with "Lockdown" which touched a rather sensitive part of me. But all the endings were/will be (THEY WILL HAPPEN I PROMISE!) happy.
Unposted, it's probably "A Dead Man's Tale" which I'm writing right about now and I hope to start posting by Halloween on Tuesday (fingers crossed). The ending is... sentimental? Idk Kinda sad but happy too? I have no idea how to describe that. Either that or Raise a Little Hell, my Bonnie and Clyde, which will be my only NHEA story ever(if), when I get to write it.

All of them? Lol
Walking The Wire because I finished it? sdakljfkdsgh I have no idea. Maybe Lockdown bc it's such a hard battle to end happily in the end.

Not on the Bridgerton ones, thankfully. Everyone that reads it is amazing which makes me really happy.
I had a pretty harsh time when I started on the Reylo Fandom in Star Wars. Not fun, I'll give you that.
9- Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I write hotter scenes, although I don't think I've ever finished an entire sex scene. That said, I have a one-shot called Stockings that is about 85% done which is porn/no plot that I might one day finish but I'm not that much of a fan of it, to be honest.
10- Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Unless you count crossover with Julia Quinn's own other series, no I don't.
11- Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I am aware of.
12- Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, which is kinda sad because I am a translator and I could very well do it myself lol but Idk if there are too many Portuguese-speaking readers that would be interested in it, and although I speak pretty good Spanish, I'm a tad out of practice and I don't master the written language nearly enough to attempt to translate something to Spanish.
13- Have you ever co-written a fic before?
A long time ago in a Galaxy far far away. It was... nice. And not at the same time. I hold myself to very VERY high standards, so I'm extremely self-critical and working with someone with different styles and ideas can be really harsh without trying to dictate the way you want the story to go. Plus the three times I did, we ended up giving up halfway through the story lol
14- What's your all-time favorite ship?
This is a stupid question and I hate it. I'm not good at picking. I am deeply, truly in love with Kathony, and have been for the past couple of years, but if I had to say at the top of my head, the oldest OTPs that have been in my heart, the ones here for the longest time and never really left are Percabeth from Percy Jackson and Jily from Harry Potter. Reylo and Rebelcaptain in Star Wars were also a very big part of me for a long time and I love them.
Asking all-time faves is mean.
15- What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Sought you, Sang you, Dreamed you, my Reylo Kidfic. I love it so much and I am so sorry my baby, but I can't focus on Reylo anymore. I have complete faith I will finish all my Kathony fics one day, I really do.
16- What are your writing strengths?
I honestly have no idea. As I mentioned, I am very self-conscious about what I do and I have incredibly high standards about myself. It's not uncommon to see me saying I hate my story and I won't post it and it's absolutely shit, I have no idea why people read it. So pointing out a quality is really hard.
I guess I'm good at dialogues? I always felt they sounded nice, idk.
17- What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm running a risk of repeating myself too much if I mention standards and self-consciousness, don't I?
I am terribly wordy. Nothing I do is short because I need 1k words for something I could have done in 200. I always feel people will get bored by it.
I also sometimes feel I have issues representing the emotions I'm trying to put through in my story. Many times you'll find me going to a neutral third party saying "Please tell me what's missing here." bc I feel it lacks.
Let's not mention the lack of self-discipline and the amount of time it takes me to write a story/update something. And overthinking things. Also coming up with more ideas than I have time to write.
18- Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I do that all the time? I am a native Portuguese speaker and English is my second language.
19- First fandom you wrote for?
Lol that's going far back, isn't it? I have been writing originals since I was 10 (I have a lil notebook with the first story I've ever written, it's adorable, but as usual, incomplete), but in 2011 I was obsessed with a soap opera called Rebelde (the Brazilian version, when I liked the Mexican RBD one, I didn't really know what fandom was yet. BUT I'M GOING TO THE CONCERT ON THE 9TH I'M SO EXCITED) and my first fic was a Roberta x Diego one, which is complete and (unfortunately, -or not- not all of it) available in Nyah Fanfiction, although I wish it wasn't bc it's truly shit. Like very very very shit. It was crazy, she died of lung cancer in the end. I swear to God, I had no clue what was going on with me at 14.
20- Favorite fic you've written?
Okay, look, this is not fun lol
I truly, honestly can't pick. Each one is special for me for a different reason. The Way I Loved You was my first Kathony. You Belong With me my first WIP and I have such a special place for it. I could go on and on for hours. I love them all, even the ones which are not my faves (Bad Habits, Reading Project).
But I will be absolutely thrilled if you guys tell me your fave of my fics. I would love a lot to know.

I have a (possibly) bad habit of needing to end with at least a glimmer of hope, however, I think ‘where the evening splits in half’ is angsty (I mean, it refs a canonical character death and one that always makes me sad) and ‘a workshop of filthy creation’ (for lack of resolution/continued pain)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Maybe the whole ‘Not to get mushy but…’ series. ‘Those That Love Us’ and ‘House Share'. I think contentment, connection, found family and love are the vibes the endings give, so maybe that’s what counts as a happy ending?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not that I can recall
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I tried, once. I think it’s really bad, so I won’t be doing anymore for now.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Not really, unless we’re counting ‘Uninvited Guests’ or ‘a workshop of filthy creation’ which could be considered crossovers with my original works, as they feature my OCs. I did, however, once write a modern AU crossover of Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights and The Italian in my first year of uni, but that shall remain buried somewhere in my laptop.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.

I don’t believe so!
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
I’m not sure – I either find I like one thing or several equally so… Still, as I’m answering this as a writer, my favourite to write has been Julian/Robin or Lucy/Ginevra
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I’m not sure I’ll ever finish the next parts of my Ginevra/Lucy fic (a continuation of ‘Don’t let them get you down, you’re the best thing I’ve seen’) – I tend to just add to it every now and then, when I feel inspired.
I have also started gathering ideas for a sequel to ‘workshop of filthy creation’ and I have a few lines noted, but right now, I’m not feeling inspired to write it. Never say never though.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Perhaps writing narrative voices that fit and align with the character they’re trying to capture, and from whose perspective the story is told from? By which I mean making conscious word choices, thinking about thought patterns, using appropriate metaphors and tones for that character?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I definitely struggle with plot – and while I’m not really one for grand, action packed narratives, I do sometimes feel that instead of taking the straightforward path from A to B when I’m writing, I tend to meander, get distracted by other details, get tangled up in reflections and reminiscing, so everything I write is slow. I also struggle a lot with endings – a desire to tie things up probably too neatly, or an inability to actually just reach the ending? That, and I can often be a slow, slow, slow writer, so I might start a piece and take weeks to actually complete it, which can lead to tone shifts, I think.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I wouldn’t personally feel comfortable doing it, because my GCSE German is awful, I’ve never learnt another language, and I’m not sure I trust translators for full sentences. In terms of the practise in general, it is fits in with the canon, and ‘makes sense’ for the character – sure, I don’t mind. I mean, I’ve read Charlotte Bronte’s Villette after all.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
It was for a British comic I believe, back when I was 12/13…I did re-upload it from ff.net to A03, so if you really want to read it, you can, but don't expect much.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
My personal favourite is probably ‘Don’t let them get you down, you’re the best thing I’ve seen’, because it took a lot of work, combined some of my favourite things and allowed me to use what I researched and wrote on for my MA dissertation in a creative way?
My other favourites are:
‘Those that Love Us’ - this was fun to write, and I enjoyed the challenge of capturing the vibe and language of the book, while also making it my own.
‘A Second (Minor) Heart Attack’ - a very early Ghosts fic, but it made me smile
‘House Share’ - possibly because it was such a project and I completed it

I’m a literate writer and prefer to write with others who are literate, but the length of replies can vary based on situation or whether or not we’re doing texting threads. I am not super picky, I just don’t really like one liners outside of texting because I need stuff to work with!

I do prefer to double unless you are looking to write a single male character, just let me know. I do not write underage/teen characters, I only write them aged up or of-age.
I am very friendly ooc and like to chat about pretty much anything. I love aesthetics, inspo, all that good stuff. I try to be as active as I can but it depends on my schedule, I’ll let you know if I’ll be away for extended periods.

I try!! Nothing makes me feel happier than seeing that people have enjoyed my stuff so much they feel inclined to actually tell me?? If I ever don't reply, it's honestly because I'm overwhelmed, or have imposter syndrome... on my own writing? Hmm.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
oh god. tbh none of my ao3 ones are particularly angsty. Best Served Cold is probably the closest because of ✨vengeance✨, but I've got a fair few angsty fics unpublished.

deffo I Think We've Got Chemis-tree. It's just silly feel-good fluff and very 'fanfictiony' if you get what I mean. Not my fave, but people seem to love it for some reason :')

HA. Luckily, I've managed to steer clear from any hate with my Sam stuff, which is probably down to the niche-ness of the fandom, but I used to get a LOOOT when i wrote TWD stuff back in the day. And it was pretty much always due to me using British english spelling & lingo rather than US. Yawn.
9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?
Abso-fucking-lutely. I think the stuff I've published is pretty tame tbh... compared to what I'm too frightened to post because I'm sick in the head <3. I love giggly, fluffy smut, but hey. I also love stuff that verges on dead dove. Come at me with asks on the matter. I'm game.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Nope. Tbh I don't like anything enough to do crossovers, but ig it's not out of the question.

Again, this fandom is so small, I feel like it'd be blatantly obvious if it had been. I think I saw something a while back that made me raise my brow at the similarity, but to say it was stolen may be a bit far-fetched.

Yes! I had an old TWD series of mine translated... twice?!
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
I had a friend once who asked me to beta her fic, and it ended up becoming a total 50/50 collaboration, so yeah! Again, it was TWD.

Pfft. I really don't have one. (I'm a disgusting, delusional self-shipper.)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
ARGH I really want to continue with The Sadir Inheritance, but it's so time consuming, and it takes me about a month to write a very basic request, let alone take care of my fic-baby. I really really like it and have SOO many ideas, so maybe it's overly pessimistic to say I won't ever finish it. But the fandom may be extinct by the time I do :')
16. What are your writing strengths?
Apparently I'm good at dialogue and characterisation? That's unhealthy obsession, bay-bee!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Anything emotional, I think. I enjoy writing the conversational side of things, and am a very humour-centric person, so find it hard to make things perfectly angsty/sad when they need to be. Though I still write it! I'm just not all that confident.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Hell yeah. Just make sure it's accurate to avoid offence/severe cringe. I wouldn't personally do it unless I was completely certain it fit.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Out of those I've published? Probably the Best Served Cold/A Taste of Your Own duo. It was a lot of fun to write, and allowed me to add a relatively solid plot to something raunchy- though, the alternative ending to ATOYO is better, and I wish I posted it first, because I want more people to see it sksks. You live and learn.

Stars and Oceans. Classic post-Order 66 Star Wars featuring a Codywan (fem!Obi) storyline so it's ... pretty bleak. BUT it is also part 1, so part 2 is much less angsty.

No? I've had one where someone commented ''I wish you hadn't done xyz" which threw me a bit bc ... dude. The back button's right there.
Oh, tell a lie, I once had someone tell me my female OC was too much of a feminist and they didn't like that. It didn't feel particularly insulting though.
9. Do you write smut, if so what kind?
I love writing smut, and I feel like I have improved so much in recent years. I like most kinds, but not hate-sex or cheating. Don't like reading it and don't think I could write it.
10. Do you write crossovers? If so, what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Hmm, yes and no. I like taking characters out of one universe and transplanting them into another. I have two of these on the go at the moment; a Firstprince Discovery of Witches AU and a Codywan His Dark Materials. But I don't cross the characters over, so Henry and Alex won't be running into Matthew and Diana.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Once, had a fic cross-posted without my permission and I wasn't happy. Thankfully it was taken down immediately once I contacted the person who'd done it. I think they thought they were being nice?
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
@inexplicablymine baby, current WIP, Firstprince, and y'all are NOT ready.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I have regular obsessions with ships! I love, and always will, Firstprince and Codywan. But I'm currently eyeball deep in a Buddie rabbit-hole and absolutely head-over-heels for some Wheel of Time ships too so I don't know if I could ever choose one favourite.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Probably one of my Star Wars ones - there's a Sithywan fic that I have the bare bones of a plot for but so far it feels flimsy to me.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and inner monologues of characters. I like to think I'm good at landing characterisations.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Ad-libbing or ad-hoc writing I struggle with but also conversely plotting? I can have these amazing ideas that usually start with dialogue between two characters and then can't always follow through in creating a narrative around that scene.
Also sometimes I think I rely on a Deus Ex Machina too often.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I'll normally try to just add in the odd word if canon, 'mijo', etc. I try to avoid long sentences unless it's a fictional language anyway (Mando'a) or it can't be avoided. Then I very guiltily use Google translate. For slang I do try and research multiple sources rather than Google though.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Justice League, the DC Animated version which was a very good cartoon actually.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
It probably has to be Blooming Lovely. It's not often I write something totally joyful and angst-free so it felt like an achievement!

Winterfest'23 Fandom Term Dictionary
Hello all!
Here's a little list we compiled of common fandom terminology to help you guys with your sign up forms!
Many of these terms have multiple different definitions that depend on the situation, but to keep matching easier and to make sure no one receives content that might make them uncomfortable, we tried to come up with simple definitions for this event's purposes.
Relationships and Shipping
Shipping means simply relationships between characters. Character names separated by / refers to a romantic relationship, whereas & signifies platonic or friendship. So asking for Chivalry/Rurisk means you want the two to be romantically involved and Chivalry&Rurisk would mean that you want to see/read about the two being just friends.
Please make sure you use the correct forms in your request and offer, this is important for matching purposes.
You can add as many ships as you want to your request.
Gen/genfic
Not focused on romance or sexual relationship, for general audiences
Smut
Smut is shorthand for sexually explicit content. We know that's not everyone's cup of tea, and that's why it's important to be clear whether you want to receive or create some or not. Do not add smut if your giftee didn't specifically say they want it/are okay with it.
PWP
Porn without plot. despite the name, PWP stories can have elements other than sex, but the sex is the most important part
Dubcon and noncon
Dubious consent and no consent, these terms refer to fanworks with consent issues. As these can be very triggering to people, do not include these in your gift unless your giftee has specifically said they're ok with it.
H/C
Hurt/comfort. A character is sick/injured/harmed in some way and is cared for by another character. Usually expected to have happy endings.
NoTP
NoTP refers to ships a person does not want to see. If your giftee mentions they don't want to see a certain ship, do not add it into your gift, even as a background ship.
BroTP
Two characters as BFFs, this is your fave pair of platonic soulmates, not romantic or sexual
OT3
A throuple, a romantic/sexual relationship between three characters
Crack/crackship/crack pair
A ship between characters that might have never met in canon, weren't alive at the same time or are in some other way an extremely unlikely or hilariously impossible match.
AU
Alternative universe, usually refers to stories set in the modern world or some other specific age or setting like space, ancient Rome, steampunk or Louis XIV's Versailles
Canon divergence
A fanwork that differs from canon but not as extremely as an AU, usually because the creator changed a major canon event. What if Fitz hadn't died in the dungeon but gone to trial instead? What if Kettricken had died of the poison instead of Rurisk?
Canon Compliant
Fanworks that do not deviate from canon. Missing scenes or scenes told from a different POV, for example, what was going through Patience's mind when she heard about her husband's infidelity?
Fluff
Teeth-rottingly sweet, nothing sad or angsty here. Antidote to sadness, fluff fics are cuteness for the sake of cuteness. Ignore the Forged ones roaming the forest, we're playing with mice and having ginger cakes in a cuddle pile.
DDDNE
Dead dove, do not eat, or Exactly what it says on the tin, refers to fanworks with extreme subject matter like SA, vore, necrophilia, bestiality. Used to signify that the work contains exactly what the tags say. DO NOT USE THIS TAG WITHOUT CLEAR WARNINGS FOR WHAT THE DDDNE CONTENT IS
Squick
Squick is a trope or a thing that gives a person the creeps, not enough to be a trigger but still something they don't want to see/read about.
Bashing

This is a positive event, please don't request or offer bash content. If you dislike a character or a ship, just mentioning that you don't want to receive any content with them in your request is enough.
Prompt and tropes
Prompts are ideas for your gift maker to draw inspiration from. Feel free to add as many as you can think of. Moods, songs, scenes, anything can be a prompt. Try not to make your prompts too restricting or overly detailed, they're supposed to be for inspiration, not an order.
Tropes are themes that reoccur in fiction and media. Friends to lovers, arranged marriage, fake dating etc.

hello hello! 💞 i'm 20, she/her pronouns, and looking for someone 18+ who is interested in writing either fandomless OR fandom-based fxf or fxnb pairings. i'm a multipara writer who's a bit more on the lazy lit side at the moment -- i'm just looking to have fun with my rps. for fandoms, i only use animanga faceclaims. for fandomless, i can use animanga or realistic! if you're interested in realistic fcs, i usually use krp faceclaims. i'm quite talkative when i'm comfortable and i love partners who are willing to gush about ocs and plot with me! i usually make discord servers for the rp and have channels where we can add musings and headcanons and whatever else we want. i am smut-friendly but typically don't write plots that are smut-centric. i only write characters that are 20+ and would like your characters to also be 20+.
i'm going to start off with fandoms. i only write oc x oc -- i have no interest in including canon characters into what we write. here are the fandoms that i'd be interested in writing!

and now for fandomless options! i have been CRAVING a good fantasy story to write or even something like a low cyberpunk setting. i like to include action and magic in the fantasy plots i write -- it's not fun for me unless the characters are badass in some way. i already have some potential ideas whether we go with a fantasy idea or something more cyberpunk, so if writing some badass lesbians is up your alley then i'm happy to share my ideas!! i am also 100% fine with a realistic setting. i love rivals to lovers, friends to lovers, supernatural themes, plots that are dramatic and angsty, honestly i just want to write. animanga or realistic fcs are fine for any of these!!

I’m a literate writer and prefer to write with others who are literate, but the length of replies can vary based on situation or whether or not we’re doing texting threads. I am not super picky, I just don’t really like one liners outside of texting because I need stuff to work with!
I am open to pretty much all NSFW elements, please let me know your triggers/no’s/character kinks.
I do prefer to double unless you are looking to write a single male character, just let me know. I do not write underage/teen characters, I only write them aged up or of-age.
I am very friendly ooc and like to chat about pretty much anything. I love aesthetics, inspo, all that good stuff. I try to be as active as I can but it depends on my schedule, I’ll let you know if I’ll be away for extended periods.
Most of my plots are angsty and dramatic. I am fine with fluffy and soft elements of course but angst is my jam. I am also 100% fine with smut.
