[MAGNUS PROTOCOL 10 SPOILERS]
[CANARIES SHOULD STAY ABOVE GROUND]
Not to ignore the, uh, archivist in the room, but the thing about TMP 10 that’s keeping me up at night is the circumstances around this *curse words* mascot horror.
The fact that, as a creative of any sort, you’re trying to do your best to make something that really resonates with your audience. And when you’re starting out [like I am, hi, I’m a writer], you’re working on a bunch of things, you’ve got lots of balls in the air, trying to break into the creative space you’re aiming for.
But you never know exactly what will be a hit, or why. And once it’s a hit, a truly viral one, it’s out of your hands almost entirely. It can overshadow your other work, work you might be prouder of, until no matter what you’ve made and what else you’ll make, you will always and forever be “the creator of XYZ” to the world.
And the manifestation of this in TMP as a literal thing that the creator is a servant to, potentially wasting precious time and energy in the upkeep of the one thing you’ll Always Be Known For—
Don’t talk to me i’m fucked up about it.

UPDATED Run through of all the demon lore on Tina's 14 hour stream (and some funny moments and only half timstamped because im lazy and doing this for the second time):
- Tina flew for the first time confused, questioned if she was a god and pretended to be an angel to Etoiles
8:10:40 - started flying again and put on an echo-y voice and then a deep voice as she threatened Etoiles for diamonds but still confused why she could fly
- recklessly flying around and most times the echo voice was put on (demon voice??)
(8:35:00 Troubleshooting her demon voice and also states that apparently the flying wasn't planned and she has no clue whats happening)
8:39:40 - let the flying get to her head in that she'll be stronger and better than everyone else because she "forgot how good it feels" to be herself
(angel wings are faster than demon wings apparently)
- flew back to her house - insulting Cellbit's house and threatening him and being possessive of Bagi before realising how possessive she was being and decided not to be demon mode anymore
(Asked the updates admin not to tell others so she could keep the flying because she's a good guy)
(8:54-10:04 break of making a gift box for Empanada and just hanging around)
10:04:50 - she lost empanada and began to fly around and use the demon voice to find her and when Em questioned her flying Tina tried to move the situation on
10:18:35 - suddenly went into cinematic mode where it darkens on top and bottom with a bright spot in the middle in the shape of an eye then it kept flicking on and off and she promised not to do "it" again
- "No watchers necessary" the fuck does that mean
- a ring of fire started to form around her and Em and she begins to threaten the air and say she's has no intention of going home
- shouting that she shouldn't have spread her wings but she's not going home - is being threatened for flying and they've come to drag her back to hell as punishment
- got given a key called "you" and belives that the threat was also extended to the people she loves (Em and Bagi) so wants them to be fully protected
- mentions she has wings and is given a teared feather
- em is excited and wants to go flying but apparently its a "great sin" that comes with trauma and baggage
- "they don't like my type of flying, birds only I guess" hell linked to the federation?? Evil cuca??
- mouse can be told and Tina wants her there but BBH is a bottom of the barrel/last option because she gets annoyed by him (doesn't know if mouse fell or was born demon)
- it's a last ditch option to turn Em into a demon to survive but Tina doesn't know how to do that (if she fails to save Em "God so help [her]")
- giant fire appears on top of the hill and she comments how unforgiving and cruel they are because she's been the best (out of the demons??) And she's promised not to do it again but they're still taunting her
- chat and Tina get jump scared by an enderman
- doesn't want Em to tell Bagi but she will tell her she's a demon in either a month, year or century because she's surely awake or alive at somepoint
10:52:50 - Tina calls for a pause/cut so she can eat
10:56:56- got the shit scared out of her by the sudden appearance of a vat of acid in the lake (Em couldn't see but heard the burning)
(Em got Bad Omen for an hour and 30 and Tina fished up neptunium)
11:08:20 - a tree is lit on fire across the water and Em tells tina after it finishes but it starts again so she can see
- cinematic mode comes back and she begins to complain in demon voice to the "big guy downstairs" and doesn't know what the eye shape means questioning whether they're looking through her eyes
("Spending my Saturday night with my child" it's Thursday morning???)
- fire appears on the land across from the dock with a floating crown that then disappears before the fire
- quickly flies up a bit before settling and saying "interesting" - testing if there is immediate punishment??
11:17:42 - got the achievement "Who's da New King of Hell?" With an image of the crown from before and the step backwards and be lit on fire and tells the "dumb bitches" that she's not coming back
(Ben_Fox_ that was not the time but it was funny as fuck and you had an excuse)
- doesn't want Em to hang out with Mouse too much now - maybe doesn't know if mouse would also be contacted and how she would react?? Saving Em from more danger??
(Tina's scared that her lore could hurt Em and it can't happen because she only has one life)
11:41:15 - Em's favourite creature is a moloch and since she likes fire Tina wonders if she can live with her (in hell??? She'll have to eventually go back??)
11:50:11 - Tina mentions that Em "could be happy there" while she's staring at her Moloch pet/child - maybe if she took Em to hell she'd be safe than in the overworld
11:56:39 - tina tells Em to kill the bees' bloodline and praises her for her bloodlust and then uses her calm demonic voice to call her over to start fishing (the demon power is going to her head and its scaring her child...)
- Tina is now incredibly paranoid about everything
12:24:03 - Em disappeared and Tina immediately panicked and used her demon voice (but she just went to name her moloch Aelia) and then flew up a little - possibly to see if they would come back/she would be punished??
- started accidentally flying again while cutting trees but because nothing happened she continued to because it was easier
12:38:16 - Em tells Tina about her accidental trip to the Nether and Tina tells her not to go again because she doesn't want her to get hurt and she get get stronger if she hangs out with Uncle Bad a bit
(When Empanada goes off to put torches around Tina begins playing No More Birthdays by Sophie May and has canonically said this is how q!Tina feels about Em)
- was using her demon voice to compliment Em but then was messing around with the settings to make it high pitched
(Tina wants a lasso - take her daughter flying??? Please!!)
13:17:11 - realised that she had Speed for like 10 seconds and she doesn't know whether it's her "demon-like reflexes" or the pie but she didn't get it before so definitely demon shit
13:18:01 - accidentally flies again and then in demon voices says she's "changing" - return of her demon powers she can no longer suppress!!
(13:21:37 Met the English Bunny (his language was set to Portuguese, Xaninho/Agent 18??) That Em couldn't see and later named him Donny/Don-Don/Ronny)
13:27:55/13:30:47 - told Donny that the soul lanterns in her house weren't oil but lost souls she had collected but their not the ones of the people she's killed and used her demon voice scaring them
(Em nodding along to Tina talking about Ronny's appearance while not being able to see them and then proceed to fake sleep)
13:43:44 - Ronny finds the comments about fire and souls concerning so he questions the soul lanterns more and Tina explains they're not necessarily dead people but wandering souls kind of like catching fireflies
(Ronny tries to start shit between Tina and Bagi over the Giraffe and Tina threatens with her demon voice and is told to calm down)
14:10:48 - despite saying multiple times that she needs to only use her flying when needed she starts flying around Em again and then when Em gets her horse put Tina starts flying a few times to catch up/accidentally (really only stopping because Foolish was in chat)

I procrastinate on sleep doing nothing, then finally go to sleep, switch off internet on my phone, get cozy. And suddenly I'm wide awake and rush to get my phone because suddenly insane inspiration struck me and I have to write it down.
It happened yesterday. It's happened just now. Not complaining but why can't I maybe be creative in more normal circumstances? XDDD lol

I'll Let You Have a Bite
Maxwell couldn’t see the man up in the tree. He couldn’t see much of anything, not ever since he lost his eyes. Yet, the presence of Magic – which he could usually feel permeating and infusing every inch of the world around him – had a suspiciously human-silhouette-shaped hole torn into it. And Maxwell could tell what – or who that meant by now.
“Albion.”
“Maxy! Dear, what a surprise it is to see ya!” Albion drawled out, taking a loud bite out of something crunchy and juicy.
“You are in my backyard. Can’t be that much of a surprise. And do not call me that,” Maxwell replied, keeping his voice flat and trying not to let his annoyance seep into it.
Albion laughed softly, bringing the something to his lips again – which Maxwell couldn’t help but notice was gushing with Magic. Magic wholly distinct from that all around them, only similar to one thing Maxwell has ever felt before.
Albion exclaimed, “Smart boy. I knew you’d sense it right away.” He continued, asking sweetly, “Tell me, what d’ya feel when you look at it, dear?” In reply, Maxwell merely did his best to point his eyeless gaze at Albion, who - with a chuckle - added, “Oh, you know what I mean. Sorry Maxy.” Maxwell scowled in response – but focused on Albion’s snack. It seemed to be in the shape of an apple, and most of its Magic was gathered along its outer edges. The Magic itself felt oddly mixed. Maxwell was taught that everything in the world was either infused with Magic – no matter the intensity – or it wasn’t. Yet the apple felt like a coalescence of the two, both devoid of Magic yet brimming with it, projecting it outward. Much like Maxwell’s own flesh was.
Maxwell’s features tugged into a frown, and he flexed his jaw in thought. "I sense... something. Something I don't understand. However, I can hardly think it is very special, if you're here bothering me about it. And eating it with such an... appetite," he said matter-of-factly, though a slight sneer – further denoting his last point – did grace his face. Albion made a loud sound with his mouth in response, (poorly) imitating a buzzer. “Not quite, my dearest Max, ‘tis something very special – an Epli."
“And that is...?”
“An Iðun’s apple – they're quite legendary. I had expected Erin to have told you a hundred times over by now.”
“She’s hasn't had much of a taste for mythology these days. And we haven’t talked in a while anyway.”
“Ah, right. The drama. The point is, these are very sought-after. They’re said to have kept 'em Norse “Gods” youthful," Albion said before scoffing and taking yet another bite.
“And you’re explaining your beauty plan to me... why exactly?”
“Figured you’d want a bite.”
“May I?” Maxwell asked inquisitively, raising an eyebrow.
Albion burst out laughing. “That looks creepy as all fuck, honey...” he said, before sobering up and turning his voice serious, “Seriously, don’t do that. That shit is scary. You need eyes.”
“Are you going to answer my question?”
“So impatient.”
Annoyedly, Maxwell held out his hand and stared at where he hoped Albion’s eyes were. He was heavily considering wiggling his eyebrows again for good measure. Albion’s response was a hum, as if in mock thought – before he spoke up, “I’ll let you have a bite if you let me have one.”
Maxwell startled and retracted his hand, but Albion continued – the levity in his voice slowly dropping, “You can tell it’s just like you, can’t you? You’ve got enough Hexstarved blood to sense it. You play dumb, but you’re a smart, smart boy.”
“Once again, what is the point of this?”
Albion spoke again, and Maxwell could hear the smile return to his voice, “Epli are very expensive, Maxwell. They are made with the processed flesh and blood of your kind. You’re not careful enough, you know? Half-breeds like you are oh, so rare. And after what your father did to you,” Maxwell tensed, “you are especially unique. Which means that there are plenty of people who will want a taste. And we certainly don’t want that happening.”
Maxwell growled through gritted teeth, “People like you?” Albion retorted, “Exactly like me.” A hungry intensity oozing and dripping off his every word. Suddenly, the gap in Magic – indicating where Albion was – moved swiftly. Maxwell just barely didn’t flinch as the void appeared right in front of him – less empty than it felt before. He felt Albion’s hot, sweet breath on his face. His hand immediately darted to Albion’s grasp, snatching the Epli out of his hand. “It isn’t of much use to you, anyway. We both know old age is not what you have to fear.” Albion whispered, and any trace of him – of his absence of Magic – disappeared. Maxwell could feel his own Magic festering and buzzing at his fingertips painfully as it started flowing into that loathsome apple, which had been growing heavier in his hand ever since he grabbed it. A golden nugget, shaped much like the eaten-around core of an apple, dropped into the soft grass silently.

Dear friends, I am aiming to post a video a week, and my new video is about unlocking creativity in art: https://youtu.be/LPYrbwS-yW8 I am sharing details about my own art preparation and what I learned from it. One of my teachers was Lyudmila Skubko-Karpas: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyudmila_Skubko-Karpas - a marvelous and underappreciated artist who lived in Russia and had a period of emigration in France. I have not mentioned it in the video, but she taught me to lose the edges of the objects while painting and sometimes even while drawing. Objects do not have to have clearly defined edges; they can dissipate into the room and blend in.
I have not had a systematic training and art, and, like many artists, I am facing and confronting a lack of my technical skills while painting. However, I would argue that our technical deficiencies are not the reason to quit doing art and deprive ourselves from the enjoyment that the art could bring. We often approach art from the place of unrealistic expectations about ourselves, whereas a greater and a more productive way would be to approach art from the place of humility. At the same time, lack of skills does not mean that we cannot say a new word in art; after all, contemporary art could take an infinite number of forms. You are allowed to lavishly borrow from recognized masters, such as Matisse or Rothko. If you say that what you do is art, there is no higher authority in the world that has a word over what you are doing. Nobody is better positioned to declare that what the artist is doing is art than the artist, and nobody can tell the artist that what they are doing is not art.
Art can be very prohibitive in terms of skills, time and effort that are required to learn how to art, and also due to the high prices on the good materials. The thing that I learned in Andriyaka Watercolor School is that, paradoxically, the poorer is the quality of the materials that the artist is using, the greater must be the skills to compensate for the poor quality of the materials. For example, it is important what kind of paper you are using to do your watercolor on, unlike with writing, for which you could use about any napkin. Of course, if you are a genius (and I am not saying you are not), you could get away with whatever. However, if you are an artist seeking to enter that state of mind where you think of yourself as an artist without much of an inner conflict, you would do well obtaining quality materials for your art from the beginning.
Other tips are the same that I described in my video on writing: allow yourself to write/paint, seek the company of those who paint/write, do not make writing or painting into a choir but nevertheless do it regularly, do an exhibition/publish your stuff, and so on. I am offering my time for those who might want or need my one-on-one assistance; you can book a session with me at https://tl.page/vasilina-or to work on your projects and on unleashing your creativity in a more focused manner. I think everyone has an unlimited potential to be creative.

Hi 😍
Hap hap new year!
How is the novel going? Are you enjoying the process?
This is so sweet! Thank you for asking!
Since this is the first original novel I'm actually approaching seriously and my process is totally different from normal, I'm going to use this ask as an excuse to journal about it. So, fair warning, you're probably about to get way more info than you bargained for. 😁 ONWARD!
I think first and foremost the process has been weird because I don't KNOW these characters. I've been writing Link and Zelda for 20+ years and even when I throw them into alternate universes or give them personality transplants I still can just dive right in. Starting this from scratch has been a lot of world building and a lot of taking my characters out on "dates" which aren't so much dates as they are writing excursions into the emotionally tormented unknown to see how they react. 😂
I jot down all the ideas that randomly strike me in this handy dandy notebook that I carry around everywhere just in case:
And that's a bit of a funny story. I love having notebooks to write stuff down in, but I recently discovered thanks to the course I took that I place very low value on my writing (and by extension myself in general I guess oops) so I never bought myself a nice notebook just for story notes because that would've been a waste of 5 dollars.
But between Emma Dhesi's course pushing me to assign appropriate value to myself and Ellen Brock's Intuitive Pantser video assuring me that my urges to compile all my notes into a notebook was good for my brain and not just a waste of time and paper, I eventually went out and spent that 5 bucks (actually $20—three notebooks for future endeavors!). And I LOVE MY NOTEBOOK! 🥰
Another thing I wouldn't have spent the money on in the past but took the plunge on is the Atticus program.
It's a project organizer, word processor, and book formatting software. I'm really enjoying it! It has a toggle window on the side where you can see how your book will look on various devices or in print, and easy buttons for things like writing sprints, word count goals, deadlines, and the like. It also makes me feel fancier than google docs ever did, so there's that. 😎
Emma Dhesi is also a big proponent of Goal Anchors—small things you accomplish and surround yourself with that cyclically trains your brain to believe that your dream is possible, and you are in the process of achieving it. (It also gives you goals you can do that move you closer to finishing your book that isn't actual writing, in case that feels intimidating.)
So I made an image of the title page the background on my phone, to remind myself that it's real and it's happening. I decluttered my writing room and started finding items to make it a comfortable creative space for myself. I went to the store for the express purpose of purchasing a special tea to drink while I write. I spent time making a playlist of songs with just the right vibes.
I also found the best candle scent ever, only wear these super comfy slippers in there, and just got myself this slammin t-shirt from Gideon's Bakehouse to wear. (Her name is Poppy. She's on a new path of self-discovery and adventure, just like me.)
But most of all, Emma insists that confidence comes from doing, and that the best way to write a book is to make a routine of it. She suggested starting with 20 minutes three times a week. I was up to between 1-2 hours a day starting at 7am, 5-6 days a week before I went on vacation and upended everything. 😂
So I guess that means I'm enjoying it! It's still scary and frustrating and directionless sometimes but more than anything it's just happening, which is the coolest thing ever.
