Do you still continue the story of Felix or have you stopped?
//I'm not sure if you're asking about IALS₁ (“It's A Long Story”), which chronicles the events of The Broken Seal and The Lost Age, or if you're referring to IALS₃ (“It's Another Long Story”) which covers the events after the first Mourning Moon and before the second Mourning Moon.
In both cases, I have been working behind the scenes.
For IALS₁, I have been working behind the scenes for a long time. I had a tentative plan to resume working on v2.0 in 2025, and then in 2026, but as of now that's been pushed back to 2027 at the earliest due to restructuring my life to have more balance to it.
The thing is, I am not sure how I'd actually post the story, because Staff—in their infinite “wisdom”—changed how HTML posts work and practically gutted ALL the necessary components I use for storytelling, which include (but are not limited to):
1.) The ability to have multiple links in the same line of text without breaking 2.) The ability to center text 3.) The ability to use a Read More in an HTML-edit-type post 4.) The ability to use hover text at all 5.) The ability to use text shadows at all 6.) The ability to use font colors of my choosing
Any post or draft made after mid August 2023 is affected by this change, but posts and drafts made prior are still able to be edited and work properly/fully/as desired. So my options are either:
1.) Find 261 non-reblog posts on unluckyadept to recycle into story posts 2.) Git gud and learn some more CSS to make my own website (something very basic, but functional) to be able to post things that will display the way I want them to display or 3.) Pray Staff changes how HTML posts work so that things are fully functional again
The way HTML posts work now is so limiting, so bad that I will choose Door #2 if I absolutely have to. 💧
As for IALS₃, re: what are, for Felix, “current” events…
There are actually two posts detailing certain events—most notably the rise of the first Mourning Moon—that have taken place since early 2022. Other events have been written out and only shared on Discord.
To put it briefly (and trust me, this IS the SHORT version):
The Tolbi Empire wishes to use Lalivero's coastline to launch a fleet to sail for Lemuria, to capture it and make use of the life-extending waters. To this end, they have tried invading Lalivero again multiple times, with the war starting in full with their first invasion of recent years.
Felix accepted the responsibility of being in charge of Lalivero's defenses as they resist the Tolbi Empire. To this end, he has maintained the Nol Gate (more on that below) and the Suhalla Gate—and for a time in 2022, was on the offensive, even taking a key stronghold from the Tolbi in the summer. The war turned for the much worse a few months after that, though, and they've had some pretty heavy losses. He's become convinced over these last few years that he has no choice but to strike for the heart of the Tolbi Empire, as absolutely deadly as that may be for him and those who go with him.
Sheba has been helping her father in running Lalivero itself. For a while, she was crucial in maintaining the peace between refugees from Suhalla (which was razed in 2020, but later recaptured) and the native Laliverans. The Suhallan refugees mostly returned to Suhalla after it was recaptured, and Sheba became busy helping the Laliverans flee to Contigo in a diaspora that has greatly reduced the population remaining in that part of Gondowan.
Prox has become involved with helping Lalivero resist the Tolbi; Prox itself has taken Loho (which was abandoned some time ago by the dwarves after they finished excavating it) as a stronghold to defend the Western Sea (and particularly to serve as the first line of defense for the Kalt Islanders and the Northern Reaches).
During the last few years, several Proxans have been promoted to Warrior status. I have names for several: Kalora, Eleanor, Orynar, and Falkner. Kalora and Orynar are in charge of Loho's defenses. Eleanor and Falkner are with Felix to assist him in running the two Gates that block the way to the Tolbi: the Suhalla Gate and the Nol Gate. (The Nol Gate is located in the mountains Felix raised up West of the Nol River to cut off easy access to Lalivero, a feat which spent him so thoroughly that he was unable to use Psynergy again for quite a while.)
After being officially exiled by the Senate following the lighting of the beacons, Piers dedicated his life to helping negotiate commonly agreed maritime law for the budding fleets of the Eastern Sea. He was able to keep Briggs and (and now Eoleo, too) in check for the most part, but THAT came to an abrupt end when Xian (who had been aggressively seizing territory for a while) declared open war on Champa (among others). As of now, he's very busy with that conflict.
Felix is actively working on preparing for the foray, but it takes a lot of time to do that and he has to be very careful in how he goes about executing his ploy. I hope to have the opportunity to write out his misadventures with that plan, but it probably won't be until late Autumn this year, maybe later than that… and if I get the time and energy for it, I'm not sure if I will post it openly, either. It's going to be one of those “The ‘Read More’ exists for a REASON, you fool” loooooooooooong posts (or series of posts), but remember what I said about Read More not working right? ☹️ There's that, and I can count the number of people who -might- be interested in reading that content on one hand—which is a pretty big damper on motivation even when the inspiration does exist.
Thank you for the Ask; I'd be happy to answer more questions if you have them!

"I've been having the most luck with peas, spinach, onions, and beets. The wheat looks promising but they've had to be spread out so some will probably not be as productive as hoped. There was a decent turnip crop last fall, but it's a little early for them. Other than that... There's been a lot of foraging when we can. Hunting, too, and we have a small flock of chickens and a few rabbits."

[ Ø ] - …Now THERE was an idea. She should try to experiment with this strange ore if she can find enough of it…
Time to make plans to head there herself when she has the time on her hands.
Ray gently gives the Glaceon back to Snow after a quick nuzzle and cooing at them a little more. She tilts her head at the mention of a fox, though. No cross-references popped up at that. Must be some other animal friend Snow has, he seems to have a lot of those.
“…Perhaps…I could certainly use armor that protects against the cold.” Real BATTLE armor. Triton’s Ward was good and all–the best, perhaps, but something that would REALLY hold up to a blade would be even better…
Hm. She’ll think about that later, when she actually has the materials in hand.
Snow: I think it would take a really, really long time to get enough to make a set of armor…
Snow: You need four pieces of debris to get enough ore to make one of the bars with some gold, an’ that takes a long time to get. Hours, sometimes.
Snow: It’s fun to explore, though! It’d be worth it to do as an adventure, for sure!
codedhopes
Going back to the small ‘Mon, though, Ray was about to toss in her own ideas for a name–until Snow came up of one of his own. Hm. Dawn…ha, that was fitting, considering it’s mother was Sol.
“I think that’s lovely, David. Though…why Dawn?”
Snow: Because she looks like Dawn! :D

@unluckyadept replied to your photo “I'm not drunk enough for this.”
"If you needed to, you could probably find some high quality wine in the cellar. The others keep alcohol there since it isn't allowed anywhere near the teetotaler; last time that happened, he really got angry at the guy who left it where he could see it! Felix passed out, though, and you'll have to leave him be for now. But I'm sure he won't mind." || [oh u, Echo…]

“You know what, I’m going to take you up on that offer.”
Tumblr media
She’s...obviously concerned for Felix and not at all taking the opportunity to just kind of check up on him, especially after hearing THAT. Just a quick look, though, she’ll leave him be as Echo suggested.

[Eris abruptly woke from her nap. Head snapping up, she felt a disturbance in the air. A big one.
She bared her teeth and snarled, letting streams of smoke out from her nostrils. Then, in a voice changed by a raspy growl, she spoke.]
Eris: Someone needs to start explaining, or else someone will get incinerated. I don't care who.

//What kind of shop would Dragonsbane enjoy most if plonked into a mall and allowed to wander?
Dragonsbane would be an absolute menace in a craft shop. Yarn? Dyed wool?? Fabric??? Forget keeping her hobbies a secret - she would disappear and never be seen again.
She has no money and is under a lot of stress, however, so the most she’d do is harass the store employees with dumb questions.

“Alia, please, I just-”
“NO. Issimo, we talked about this.”
“Yes, we did, but I just need-”
“Sleep is what you need, not this caffeinated sludge. I saw you make this - did you leave any sugar behind for the rest of HQ?”
“I’ve seen how much sugar Signas puts in his coffee. I am NOT the worst offender, here!”
“That’s not my point and you know it!” Alia put her foot down (metaphorically and physically), and planted her hands on her hips. “You will lie down right now on this couch and sleep,” She demanded. “Or I will drag you to my room, shut you in my recharging pod and I can guarantee that you will nOT come out again until you are fully rested!”
“…” Issimo narrowed his eyes, and Alia frowned in response. She was not backing down from this confrontation. Six weeks without rest wasn’t healthy, even for a Reploid.
The stalemate lasted for several long, tense moments, until Alia broke the silence with a sternly questioning “….well?”, and Issimo backed down, as she knew he would.
“I’ll…take the couch.” The Hunter conceded.

What is one trait, event, or defining moment that got you invested in your muse as a character?
//This is something of a long one.
In the early 2000s, my father went off to war (again). The game I got before he left was Pokémon Sapphire Version. Technically I wanted to play Ruby first, but he ordered that one off eBay or something and it turned out to be… probably bootlegged, as it wouldn't save right. So I started up Sapphire instead and have loved it as one of my favorites ever since.
But after a couple years, I really wanted to have another story+gameplay as fascinating as Sapphire was for me. So I asked my group of friends at the time (Serebii chats) for their recomendations, and I was recommended Golden Sun.
I was also told that there were two games and to make sure to keep that in mind. So I told my father this (he made it back), make sure to check…
…still ended up getting The Lost Age and not TBS, but I am not one to be ungrateful.
So I played through the game. Had trouble with the controls at first ("How do I jump in this game WHERE IS THE TUTORIAL") and could not for the life of me follow the story at the beginning, but by the end of the game, I was loving it.
But the defining moment? THE defining moment that got me interested?
Mars Lighthouse.
Remember, I'd never played the first game. I took the mention Felix's parents couldn't have possibly gone to the Lighthouse at face value, did not have the faintest idea what Kraden was shouting about, until…
Tumblr media
Keep in mind I'd had to watch my father go off to war (again) very recently. The idea of losing him in such a way was absolutely devastating.
And Isaac knew it all along?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, poor Felix…
Tumblr media
Felix has known true suffering, true self-sacrifice.
Tumblr media
In a very real way, he was separated from his parents due to duty, and nearly lost them due to treachery.
I felt that. I felt that so hard. The sibling aspect of it made it even stronger for me.
When I later learned (and saw) more of the context, particularly of what happened at Venus Lighthouse, that only made me more appreciate his character all the more.
I sure was invested before. His role in rescuing Izumo was pretty high up there.
But Mars Lighthouse was THE defining moment for me, so being strung along for several years (before I made this blog) by someone who never intended to play the game but wouldn't let me reference it at all was very much no bueno.
Felix is the easiest character to write for me because of fifteen or so years of practice. A lot of his experiences ring true to me due to the sacrifices he's had to make, and the loneliness he's endured. He's just very human in that way.

When they heard surprising news, they knew they'd come no matter what.
Piers managed to slip away from Senate and crossed all dangerous seas and lands to be by his best friend's side that important day. Lana of course came along and they decided they'd be celebrating as if there's no tomorrow! They rarely have chances to spend some more time together due to all work and conflicts in the area.
Neshi arrived straight from her fieldwork, as another global case was in her hands. She found a moment to leave her world and bring Kaiyoshi with her. If the World Champion & International Detective and also the Guardian of the Seas can make it, everyone should!
Auura wanted to visit the North for some time so it looks like it was meant to be! She didn't hesitate, just packed her things and set out on the journey to witness her people's bright destiny.
Hazam was the only one who knew their Future and maybe that was the reason he was smiling almost all the time. Or maybe it was nostalgia of their times.. or maybe something different. It's a big day also for Nila as she found out that the Past will show the roots of her family.
Their dear Friend @unluckyadept finally found what he was looking for. He finally found Happiness and Loneliness is no more in his Life beside his beloved one! Onward to days of Sunrise!☀️

A Stitch in Time…
[It wasn’t very often that Refrain had to deal with something going wrong to this degree.
His job almost always seemed to consist of searching for his older brother, and finding out what went wrong that prevented Chorus from fulfilling his mission(s). And while he still hadn’t determined the specifics regarding the temporal errors that prompted Dr. Cossack to cooperate with LightLabs to build the two of them… he had, for some time now, rather suspected the source.]
Refrain: …
[Chorus was harsh, much in the way that all of the DCN series was from 007 onward. Refrain suspected that Chorus had picked up some of that attitude from Enigma, though.
Refrain hadn’t met Enigma in person, but he had been forced to deal with the nemesis: a corrupted OVER unit named “Equinox”. (Who, he was relatively sure, had something to do with the troubles that had led to the development of DCN-010 and DCN-011.) It hadn’t been a pleasant experience, particularly because of how worked up Chorus had been at the time.
As for Refrain? Well…
His background work in fixing the overdone actions of his brother allowed him to maintain distance (in all ways, literal and metaphorical.) With Equinox so focused on Enigma and Chorus, it made his job of un-rigging what shenanigans Equinox had put in place a very straightforward process.]
Refrain: 💧
[This was, however, the first time he’d seen something happen where Equinox had falsely activated a reality where his own active role was superseded by his brother asking the exact same thing.
It was so extremely blatant that he was honestly surprised that Chorus had followed through with it. He could only hazard a guess that Chorus was so anxious to do as Enigma had ordered… that Chorus failed to consider the implications of Enigma addressing him in response to something he hadn’t actually said.
It wasn’t entirely clear what had happened after that; only that Ra Moon had tried to overtake his older brother, and it hadn’t ended well.]
Refrain: -~-
[From what he could tell, Chorus was in more trouble than he could handle on his own, and the problem he’d been sent to address also hadn’t been resolved.
But at this point, he wasn’t actually interested in sorting out the details.]
Refrain: ({This will never do.})
[To pursue the matter as it had manifested would be to play the game that Equinox had put out. A game which had put Chorus in horrific peril and cut off the mutual support in connection with Enigma’s Battle Tower. A game with such harsh side effects that Felix d’Prox had been blinded and disoriented, leaving him in a weakened state and in no condition to help anyone—including himself.]
Refrain: ({This was wrong from the start.})
[Where/when was his brother? How had he been placed in such deep peril? What did Ra Moon do to him?
The question was wrong. It wasn’t how it had happened.]
Refrain: 無。
[There was an echoic wave like the hanging growl of a gong as he attuned things to how they really [TIME TENSE ERROR: TO BE]—right from the start of this portion of the mess.]
[DCN-011 to DCN-00L] //: {Ray's resonation is changing, Felix got blinded, Eris is loose and setting things on fire, and Shadow's specific "future" encounter with his former master keeps getting reset. ❓ Which of these problems is considered a greater priority?}
[“When” Enigma received the question didn’t matter much to him.
He was more interested in learning what was considered a priority, as that would inform his decisions on how to approach addressing these things.]
((NOTES: The original intention had indeed been to have Refrain ask the question, but I made a typo in the ask.
Also, “無” can be loosely translated as “the question is wrong”. In this context, Refrain is rejecting the premise because it relied on circumstances that were never intended to be in place.))
[There was no guarantee that it would prevent them from running afoul of Ra Moon, but at least the circumstances wouldn’t be rigged for certain failure of the worst possible kind.]

Weyard: Then and Now
Happy Golden Sunday!
Tomorrow marks the 10th anniversary of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn!
Something I’ve been thinking about often in regards to this series has to do with the geography of Weyard. Namely, how the cities and locations from ALL the games line up with each other, especially the ancient civilizations in Dark Dawn that didn’t make an appearance in previous games and certain locations from the first two games that are suspiciously absent in Dark Dawn.
Well, I finally decided to make an attempt at figuring this out. Here we have the official Dark Dawn map.
Tumblr media
And here is a composite image I created from the maps for The Broken Seal and The Lost Age since TLA’s map has labels covering the middle part of Angara and lacked several locations present in the first game.
Tumblr media
Here is Dark Dawn’s map with some overlays that will help when talking about how the land shifted - of note are the areas circled in white, which are places in Angara that have evidence of being the same exact location (the Mt. Aleph crater, Kolima Forest, and Champa) and the area circled in yellow is Apollo Sanctum: located on the highest mountain in Angara.
Tumblr media
Here, I created the same overlay on the Old Angara.
Tumblr media
Here are what the overlay colors represent:
pale cyan: Imil, Bilibin, and other northern regions pale orange: Goma Plateau greyish green: Kalay region, plus Gondowan and Idejima pale green: Kolima Forest pinkish orange: Saha Area/Displaced Marshlands pink and magenta: Morgal region (split up to make the shapes more clear) dark blue: Khiren Mountains blue: Altin region yellow: Lamakan Desert region orange: Harapa region red: Champa region bright green: Mogall Forest
---
The two biggest changes appear to be that the Lamakan Desert region stretched and moved a LOT and Kolima Forest became a peninsula. In Dark Dawn’s time the Goma Range has suddenly formed a gap that wasn’t there before - more evidence of the continent stretching.
Based on the shape of the coastline and how the mountains fall, it’s highly likely that the entire Mogall Forest area is gone in Dark Dawn’s map, and I also think it’s very likely that Xian and Tonfon are in the same general location and may even be the same city - just rebuilt and renamed when it suddenly became a seaside location or in the subsequent wars that happened in this area.
One theory of mine is that the tidal wave that destroyed Izumo was caused by Mogall Forest sinking, as this would be a logical repercussion of such a large displacement of land and water. It could also be connected to the shifts that caused Indra and Osenia to be on a different “shelf.”
Somehow, until doing wiki reading while researching individual towns, I didn’t remember that the Kolima Forest supposedly “migrated” but I wonder if that’s just how the people of Weyard explain plate tectonics they don’t understand. The earthquakes and such still could’ve injured Tret and Laurel - and the marshlands that were once here could still have been displaced by the shifting. Similarly, the Harapa region and Khiren Mountains are said to have "risen up" but this could also mean the mountains simply grew taller and revealed long-buried ruins in the process.
Anyway, more specifics for individual locations follow!
LOCATIONS FROM THE OLD GAMES:
Vale and Mt. Aleph: destroyed, but the people survived and relocated. Vault: likely destroyed and rebuilt as Carver’s Camp and Lumberyard. Bilibin: a major power in Dark Dawn’s time, possibly suffered less damage than nearby areas if the Goma Range protected it. Kolima: probably suffered earthquakes during the continental shifting on top of the weird fallout that caused people to turn into beastmen. Imil: survived and is doing fine. Xian: possibly destroyed and rebuilt or otherwise absorbed into Tonfon. The name change could also have to do with the power shifts caused by the various wars and conflicts that have happened in this area. It’s also possible that Xian was destroyed or conquered during one of these conflicts even if it survived the Golden Sun event and fallout. Altin: the mines probably collapsed due to all the seismic activity; the presence of a lake in what I believe is the general vicinity of Altin also makes me think it may have flooded again as well (survivors could’ve moved to nearby Kaocho or other towns.) Kalay: survived and is prospering - probably the capitol of the country of Kalay in Dark Dawn’s time. However, the region around it seems to have become more of a desert than it was in the past and there is a new lake where there was previously a mass of land. Tolbi: unknown, probably survived but also likely had a lot of political unrest and turmoil after Babi’s death. Lunpa: suspiciously absent from Dark Dawn; probably destroyed by either the Golden Sun event or fallout from it. The survivors probably moved to other nearby settlements. Suhalla: unknown, but the region it was located appears intact so it’s probably still there. Lalivero: unknown, but there’s a new forest visible in the region between Babi’s Lighthouse and Venus Lighthouse - if these areas survived, the lands around them have changed considerably. (I’d assume the forest’s growth can be attributed to the influx of Venus power from the lighthouse.) Loho: unknown, probably survived or was at least rebuilt. Champa: survived and still a pirate nation as of Dark Dawn’s time. Lemuria: survived but has definitely shifted location - an interesting possibility @unluckyadept suggested is that it sank much like Atlantis, which is somewhat supported by NPC dialogue in-game mentioning “an advanced civilization” that sank during the GS event. Either way, other dialogue seems to indicate that the people of Lemuria opened up trade with the outside world after TLA, so their civilization must also still exist. Maybe they’re just underwater now? Izumo: destroyed by a tidal wave, citizens relocated to Yamata. Everyone survived because of Lady Uzume’s foresight ability.
Other settlements from The Lost Age: since they aren’t visited or even mentioned in Dark Dawn, we don’t know much. Gondowan and Idejima can be seen on the map, but there are no visible cities or named areas. The seas and islands seem to have shifted around quite a lot, though. (With Crossbone Isle appearing in an entirely new location for some reason.) I also assume that with psynergy restored, regions near other areas of influence (such as the four elemental rocks) also are receiving more energy than they were prior to the Golden Sun.
I could do a separate meta on beastmen in general but one headcanon I have is that what happened to everyone in the Morgal region is directly related to the transformations that happen to the people of Garoh, whether through genetics or lunar influence or both!
Since the transformations of Garoh’s elders become permanent after they’re exposed to the high levels of psynergy present at Air’s Rock, I have a feeling this is the same thing happened to all the people in this part of Angara. And if this is the case, it’s possible everyone in Garoh became permanently transformed due to the Golden Sun event as well!
LOCATIONS FROM DARK DAWN:
Patcher’s Place & Carver’s Camp: new settlements created by survivors of the Goma Region - Vale, Vault, and possibly Lunpa. Harapa: new settlement, but the ruins it was built on are ancient. Passaj: this is an ancient city, but Isaac’s party never ventured into these mountains farther than Lama Temple. However, these do appear to be in the same general area. Like Ayuthay and Lemuria, they probably didn’t trust outsiders back then. Ayuthay: ancient city that was even more reclusive before the Alchemy Well was activated. I assume that if Isaac or Felix’s parties traveled by it, they didn’t consider the location worth a visit. They probably skipped right by a LOT of seemingly uninhabited ruins. Kaocho: founded by King Wo within the past couple decades. It’s unclear if the settlement existed before the split-off from Sana. The ruins it was built over are definitely older than the city. Te Rya Villiage: the people here are nomadic, their culture could be new or go way, way back. Presumably, the people weren’t in the area during the shifts and changes that happened here either way. The Khiren Mountains are said to have “risen up” which I take as means this whole area is at a much higher altitude than it was previously. Belinsk: Like Harapa, the settlement is new but the ruins it is built over are ancient. My guess here is that the continental shift unearthed the structure the capital of Morgal would be built over. Border Town: I assume it was created when Morgal became it’s own country, but it’s possible the border started being enforced as soon as the people of the Morgal region started turning into beastmen. Port Rago: probably a new settlement, at least in it’s current form. I like the idea that it could’ve been an insignificant fishing village that gained a lot from the trade boom post-TLA but that is just my theory. Saha Town: new settlement. As stated in-game, it sprang up because of the newly-fertile area and the trade centered around the “dream leaves” found here. Harun Villiage: unknown. If it’s not a new settlement, it was probably considered an insignificant location in the past. Yamata City: new settlement inhabited by the people from Izumo.
---
Please, feel free to use these maps and musings as a reference and springboard for other works. I made them with the hope that having a solid idea of how the geography works would spark some new ideas.
I'd love to see people take this and make new things with it!
This whole project actually started because I started wondering “what happened to Xian?” because it was one of my favorite locations in the first game, and then also wanting to know “where was Ayuthay during the first two games?” because it’s one of my favorite locations in Dark Dawn.
I have a better idea of both of those things now, myself. I hope this meta proves useful to others, too!
Finally, I'd also love to give a shout-out to this Golden Sun Discord Server! Finding them and learning this event was happening gave me the little push I needed to finish up my meta.
You can also find this essay cross-posted on Ao3!
