everyone and their mother talks about this part but the level where you move in with the bf in unpacking filled me with such rage. ooh i was so mad, especially when you compare it to the level before, with the roommates and how much space they leave for you. god i hate men

Okay I'm playing unpacking and I'm nearly done but like. Oh my god. She got her own apartment. She moved on. She found someone who loved her. She loved them. They got a house. They had a baby. They're happy. They're so fucking happy. Oh my god. I'm like tearing up. My realisation of it was literally 'laundry laundry laundry laundry BABY!' (I was obsessing over the laundry room)

Oooogh......the environmental storytelling of Unpacking....the contrast of the boyfriend's apartment being cramped and cluttered so badly that your diploma has to go under the bed or in the closet....versus the girlfriend moving into your apartment and being able to move things around to accommodate her because there's room for both of you....the boyfriend's apartment being a sleek black modern style and all his stuff kinda clashing with your own....the picture of the two of you having a thumbtack in his face after you break up, and the correct placement of the photo being in a cabinet out of sight...versus the girlfriend bringing her own well loved plushies, her own cute fridge magnets, and a bunch of plants....the plants showing you that you've grown as a person....themes. motifs. The bisexual experience. You can make the art model on your desk dab. Perfection.

Not me realizing that Stede letting Ed win the thumb war and softly whispering "you won" being a whole ass metaphor for him giving Ed control over how quickly or slowly they move while also assuring him that he's already won his heart and he's not going anywhere I AM UNWELL

me finally getting to watch simon petrikov deal with the worst existential crisis in history while attempting to go back to 'normal' after 1000+ years of terrible trauma, feeling dreadfully out of place on a world he effectively time traveled to and thus not being able to properly communicate the depth of his particular pain and emptiness with anyone, not even his loved ones, because they simply lack the means to properly understand him as a person

hey not to be that guy, but for everyone looking at the Stede!Mermaid scene at the end of the Innkeeper and thinking it's cringe... do we think maybe there's some externalised shame here? as queer fans, our love, enthusiasm, skill and labour (fanfiction, fanart, etc.) has mostly been relegated to the shadows, despite it being the backbone of many shows/fandoms. to have that love & labour visually represented in an unabashed, unashamed, silly, CANONICAL and queer way? to have the very stories we devote our time to crafting for one another manifested on the screen in an unapologetically gay visual feast? that should be a fucking celebration.
it's okay. lean in with me. let's practice some radical self-love and healing in this chillis tonight. together. this is a love letter to us. lean in.

last shirtless silly I swear- Friendship power ref and Sexy pjs ref
I always thought it was a glitch when Halsin and Jaheira appeared in this scene, but maybe the tadpoles are getting stronger. Or maybe even tadpoles are capable of character growth and are now considering non-tadpole people part of the tadpole gossip family???????
Love how it was the ol' folks of the team that the tadpoles snitched to. Maybe they were all awake at the time. Having a 'back in my day' or 'kids these days' chat.
So part 2. USUALLY. I try to separate my patch 0 play to any patch 5+ plot-hole fixes. Because when nobody said ANYTHING after the tadpoles snitched on Greygold's ass, I had to play the rest of the game while going on a whim of my own interpretation of that WTF moment.
Had to surmise that maybe squid buddy somehow convinced everyone it was 'just a dream', so nobody wanted to talk about it. So. At least I wasn't too far off???
But, after hearing officially that the Emperor did a 'you-didn't-see-that' jedi trick, I thought of a funny so. I made an exception.

Thinking about body horror in The Locked Tomb, specifically how the bodies of the dead are treated. Wake's skeleton tilling the fields, using her to feed an empire she hates even in death. Abigail's death not having anything to do with her but more just the inconvenience that she was there, evidenced by Cyth stashing the key in her as if she were a box. Protesilous is particularly good because you meet him as a person after you have seen his corpse used against his consent in the first book. After Cyth tells Palamedes she tossed his girlfriend and her bodyguard in the garbage she says "Don't look at me like I'm a monster". How ppl's remains are treated matter, when Crux threatened Gideon he threatened her with just that, being treated as parts.
I just have specific feelings about dead bodies and how they should be treated. I could never do anything involving cutting them without thinking this was someone's grandmother, or lover, or best friend. I distinctly remember what did this was going to see The Bodies Exhibit where you get to see a lot of preserved organs and such. I thought I would be fine, I was even super excited, I liked anatomy and physiology. But I remember looking at a sagittal cut of a head and torso meant to show off the brain and spinal cord and Idk why but I turned my head side ways and got level with the display and there was the man's face. That horrified me more than anything, his face mostly hidden so you don't remember this was a person. The ppl in this exhibit never consented to be a part of it, they are unidentified persons, no one came to get their body so it meant anyone could do what they wanted with it. Even worse popular myth for a while was that these were the bodies of prisoners, as if that made it okay to treat them with disrespect. There was writing on the wall as we left saying the bodies had been handled with respect but I would never want to be put on display in a museum, so how could we know they didn't feel the same? I also wouldn't want my index finger on display at the Vatican museum. I understand it's meant for worship but there also seems to be something rude in the piecemeal display of saints.
I feel strongly about respect for remains and idk how Muir does but there's something particularly good about Gideon being aware of her remains after death. The argument for a lot of bad treatment of corpses is "the person isn't going to know". So Muir created a character that becomes BOE's body farm experiment, until finally she has to go back into and haunt her corpse, embarrassed at her wounds and the way others can see her meat. Her first interaction is objecting to someone sticking her corpse with a needle, even though she can't feel

everyone loves talking about the batshit worldbuilding in WoT but I feel like everybody tends to overlook the Vaguely Evil Elves From Another Dimension that have their own officially licensed chutes and ladders-esque board game that you Cannot Ever Win
