So maybe this isn't your exact field since I see you curate dead things and not alive things. Regardless do you know of any common frog pets that you wouldn't condone for pets that people might not know about? For example. You can buy an iguana but an iguanas habitat size and environmental needs often lead to them being in, intentional or not, abusive households for them. I know lots of birds, snakes, and lizards that are like this but I haven't heard much about frogs. Are there any you can buy but probably shouldn't for some or several reasons? Is it ok to keep poisonous tropical rainforest frogs for example? I see some as pets and it seems iffy to me.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but basically I am of the opinion that most people who keep frogs as pets should not be doing so. They require specific environmental conditions that are not always easy to maintain without relatively major investment of both money and time. They also need almost constant access to food (especially dendrobatids), but that diet also needs to be balanced. It is common to see Ranoidea caerulea (White's tree frogs) that are extremely overweight, which is reflective of poor diets. No frogs should be regularly held, but many people take theirs own on a regular basis.
All-told, there are no frogs I know of that I would consider appropriate for beginner animal keepers. Reptiles are often much more forgiving in this regard. But it is also important to remember that no animals should be testers or trainingwheels, especially ones that are as long-lived as some of these. They are a huge commitment. I think that gets forgotten a lot of the time. Tbh, I myself have been guilty of that in the past. But we should work to do the best we can for the animals in our care. And to know our own limitations and abilities, and not acquire animals we cannot care for appropriately.

What are your opinions on the pale king?
Oh boy. Uhm. This feels like a massively loaded question considering that I know that Pale King-related discourse is very common in this fandom but I'm feeling brave today so let's go. Prepare for a long reply, anon, hope you're ready for Ashe to actually write their headcanons on main.
Well first off, I think the fandom does the character a grievous injustice the majority of the time, which is exceedingly frustrating considering that he’s one of the few characters in the game to have any nuance at all. The majority of the fandom either goes out of their way to demonize him (by far the most common sentiment, which is infuriating), or they make him way too sympathetic and/or try to excuse/write off/defend/redeem him for the horrible things that he’s done in the events of the game. Both of these stances ignore that the character is layered like an onion and deserves to be treated as such.
I’m gonna address the demonizing thing first, because it’s more common in fanfiction which is where the majority of my followers found me, and is also where the mass of my experience can be found. Demonizing PK as “ruthless, evil baby killer” ignores the fact that he was put into a no-win situation as king of a kingdom that was entirely reliant upon him (whether by his choice or not is unclear, canon makes it obvious people are inclined to follow wyrms but we do not know for sure if this is something he wanted or just incidental). His own dialogue and actions show us that everything he did, he did with a heavy heart. He did not do these things to be cruel, he did not do these things thoughtlessly, and he certainly did not do these things and forget about them.
PK in essence was presented with next to no options to defeat an enemy that was willing to stop at nothing to get what she wanted; she was willing to kill countless people, with no thought for what all she harmed and damaged along the way. He was king and responsible for those people’s lives. He had to do something.
We don’t know what he knew going into the vessel plan. Based on Monomon’s studies, and the Pale King’s own, we can assume that he probably tried other options. We have wingmoulds and kingsmoulds to show us that he absolutely was experimenting with void before he reached the conclusion of sacrificing his own children. He had to have come to the conclusion that this was the only option that he had. Based on the seal on the Abyss, it’s one that he regretted, found disgusting, and if you take his death in White Palace to be from guilt (which I do), it’s one that he never forgave himself for. “No cost too great.”
Vessels by design are supposed to be empty. I do not think this design choice was to be cruel. I think he tried to design them not to feel not only to protect them from Radi but also to protect them from experiencing what he was asking of them. And I truly, 100% believe that by the end, he realized he’d failed. That Hollow was not empty. He just had no other option, his grand be-all end-all plan was relying on their success.
(Note: My headcanon is that World Sense is PK’s apology to Hollow, in his own way. I also headcanon that PK foresaw Hallownest being saved in one of / all of the endings, and all of them involved Hollow having to be sacrificed. I believe that he died of guilt for doing what he thought he had to.)
So with all of this in mind, though: How can you demonize him for a choice that he made, that was a no-win situation? Is it a wrong choice? Probably. Were there better options? We’ll never know. What we do know is it is not one he made lightly. He knew his acts were monstrous. He did not go into these decisions thinking himself a hero. He locked himself away afterwards and it ate away at him slowly. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. He lost everything in an attempt to save his kingdom from dying to the Radiance. Whether you like him or not, you have to acknowledge the fact that he did think that his plan would save his people. That his end goal was a good one.
(And I will not get into arguments about colonizing / conquering / etc. I do not think this is usually a source of discourse, but when it does come up, it’s usually in defense of the Radiance, who is as guilty as he is of the same damn shit. @ruthlesslistener wrote a post on that subject that I’m sure I’ve reblogged. There’s no point in me repeating it.)
So with that in mind, you might be asking yourself, “So are you not a PK apologist?” And the answer is no. He’s done fucking horrible shit and I am not sorry at all for him. I do not pity him. I do not think he deserves forgiveness. I do not think he deserves to be redeemed. There’s a big difference between understanding the reason a character does something and agreeing with it. Most of the time, when people try to redeem him, it is either erasing the whole baby pit thing (either by time travel or just simply saying it Never Happened), or altering Hollow’s perception of that act (as if they are the only one who was hurt by that act). In the case of the former, you are no longer writing the Pale King. You are writing a wyrm shaped guy. The choices he made exist for a reason. Wiping them out, without good cause, drastically alters his character. I understand people think he has a cool design/character motif, he does. But that’s not even the tip of the iceberg of what makes him an interesting character.
He isn’t a villain.
He isn’t a hero.
And he would not want you to redeem him. He sure as fuck didn’t try to redeem himself.
Let him be morally gray. That’s what makes him a fun character to write and an excellent plot device to include. Let him be complicated. He deserves at least that much.

I feel terrible for believing all the posts I saw about that artist, having never taken a proper look at their blog. It is not safe to follow the crowd in these situations & I will be making an effort to learn from my mistakes. I am sad to see that the people who started the callout against this artist will not take responsibility for doing so. These rumors spread too quickly to all corners of the fandom and can start to become twisted & far from the truth.
let this be a lesson for the future to never blindly believe anything you read online, without actually checking to see if it's true/accurately representing the facts. this goes for anything from petty fandom drama to posts discussing real life events/politics.

the fandom can hate riko all they want but (imo) he's a well-written villain (and character (esp if you dig nora's EC))
agree. i was actually thinking about this the other day. well-written villain because well look at everything he's done. well-written character because just look at everything he was made to be.
he's absolutely despicable but when you look at the circumstances that he was literally born into, it has to make you see the complexities of his character. he was doomed from the start because how can you grow up like that, being spoon fed terrible morals and being held to disastrously high expectations while still knowing that you could never be good enough—never even be seen— by the people you most want to impress... how can you grow up like that and not be doomed. he was born as a spare but was raised to be a star and that combination makes for such a dark life i don't think there's any other way he could've turned out.
and the thing too is that part of it is too relatable. like the whole thinking that if you just put in so many hours, if you just accomplish so many goals, if you just push yourself hard enough you'll be worthy of praise from the person you want it from most. this is not enough to redeem him (to me), but his very last scene where he's just met his brother for the first time (which is what he's worked for all his life) and is all emotionally destroyed right before being killed by him... it does make something twist uncomfortably in my chest every time. and it makes me hyper aware of how young he is too.
to some extent i think he's not unlike the foxes, not unlike Seth in particular. except that he is held down infinitely more tightly and he has nobody at all looking out for him. again, it's usually not enough for full forgiveness but he is really something.

Can you explain more what you mean when you say “an identity based framework is inconsistent with material analysis”?
I'm incredibly critical of the idea that simply having a particular social identity renders one 'oppressed' or 'oppressed enough' to speak on particular issues; if your biggest grievance is how people speak to/about you and not your material reality, then you're doing comparatively well.
For context, I think there are four main forms of structural disadvantage that we should structure our discourse around:
being institutionalised on the basis of one's group, e.g. imprisonment, confinement in certain places like residential schools, confinement in mental health facilities;
being subject to violence on the basis of one's group, e.g. domestic violence, conversion therapy, forceful removal from family/culture;
being impoverished on the basis of one's group, e.g. living in poverty (not just being poor), being prevented from earning or owning money; and
lacking institutional representation, e.g. in politics, in administrative decision-making, in planning decisions.
I find that a lot of online 'activists' can't actually describe what they believe without relying on an identity framework; they'll say that [x] is oppressed, but they won't be able to explain how [x] fits into any of those categories (or whether there should be a fifth category) - they'll just assume that material consequence follows group identification.

How do you feel about the 'locking Percy into a pyramid' "prank"? I dunno why, but that specific one has always pissed me off.
I recently saw a post on Screen Rant listing 5 of Fred and George's pranks that were funny & 5 that were cruel, and they listed shutting Percy in a pyramid as funny... I almost screamed. 😡
It's definitely crossing the line. I don't care if Percy could have used magic to escape (which is debatable) or if the twins wouldn't have left him in there for long (which I doubt anyway); it's still wrong.
Bill's entire job is breaking curses at these pyramids; ergo, the pyramids are dangerous. Even if they've checked that this specific pyramid was safe, you never know for sure. There could have been dormant curses that became active in an enclosed space (i.e. when the door was shut) that could have effected Percy.
Not to mention that there could have been spells to prevent the use of certain magic in the pyramids, so Percy may not have been able to get out. He could have run out of oxygen or a part of the ceiling could have collapsed from suddenly closing the door (that's not supposed to be closed), and Percy could have been seriously injured.
I also don't think they would have gotten him out quickly. I fully believe they would have left him there and made some excuse to their family that he went back to the room to study for NEWTs (which his family likely would have believed).
Plus, it would have been terrifying for anyone to be locked in a pyramid, and causing genuine fear is not what I would consider a funny joke.
That being said, I don't actually think the twins intended to hurt Percy or put him in danger (just to be clear, that still does not make it okay). This is an unpopular opinion, and I know it sounds strange, but hear me out: I think the twins literally have no concept of cause & effect.
They don't seem to recognize that behavior = consequences (I don't mean consequences as in a punishment; I mean the consequences to other people that are effected). They compartmentalize their actions as being one-and-done jokes that don't have any lasting effects, and part of that is because they are incapable of taking responsibility. They know it's not fun to get in trouble, but it's never their fault when it happens; it's Percy's for being too dramatic or Ron's for being too sensitive, etc.
I headcanon that Fred & George both have ADHD (though Fred's is slightly more severe), because they have many characteristics of it (and ones that I see commonly in my students). That is not to say that all people with ADHD act this way, but it can certainly be a symptom of it. Since people with ADHD struggle with executive functioning skills, this can manifest in ways such as having trouble connecting "right now" to the future or having difficulty understanding why they hurt somebody's feelings.
This has been a pattern with Fred & George, even at a very young age (i.e. when they turned Ron's teddy bear into a giant spider), and that's why I tend to think that they have ADHD, and unfortunately, some of their traits were exacerbated by Molly & Arthur's parenting. Molly & Arthur were never consistent with them; sometimes they were punished for behavior (by Molly), but other times they were rewarded with positive feedback such as laughter (by Arthur). When children aren't held accountable for their actions consistently, it makes it very difficult to create a connection between actions, consequences, and remorse. This becomes an even bigger problem when the child is not neurotypical.
Anyway, this turned into a bit of a rant (sorry), but the point is, this "joke" was completely out of line, regardless of their motives.
Thanks for the ask! 😊

What wolfstar fandom dynamics do you not like?
i’m mainly talking the alpha bad boy remus and the shy, helpless sirius. they turned into some sort of stereotypical bad boy / yn kind of story in which sirius is trailing after remus like a lost puppy when, in my opinion, remus is the biggest loser ever but that’s fine because sirius adores him just like that
it’s kind of iffy to me honestly, maybe it’s just me, but i don’t like how they’ve been stripped of all of their personality in canon and turned into… caricatures? and it feels repetitive? that’s the reason why i filter everything when i read and even when i do read, i mostly read my mutuals’ and friends’ stuff because i mostly engage with people who have the same views on characters as me

🔥 Ludinus, and if you don't have an unpopular opinion on him, then just whatever you've been itching to post
hmm, nothing about Ludinus, but re cr villains generally: I think Delilah has always been a pretty one-note villain and any mystique she had originally has waned so dramatically with each successive appearance that she really is giving "somehow palpatine has returned" energy. I don't really know what makes people think of her as a uniquely complex or sympathetic villain. She's got exactly one thing going for her and it's the "I did it for love" bit that I don't find very interesting to begin with, let alone nine years down the line from her first introduction. if i have to hear people talk about "I broke the world for you" as the peak of romance one more time. istg. I'm so tired of it

I want Near to show more emotion. My mental would be more than a trainwreck if I have to fight with a serial killer with the most op power in fiction and lost all of my friend to the point that it would be better to have no one to care. I'm surprised no one talk about one shot Near if he suffer from depression or feeling of dead inside. He a lot less passionate.
I have sometimes seen people talk about that in regards to Near's latest one-shot actually, but yeah. I kinda like Near the way he is in the manga and don't find him super unemotional (except for maybe in the childhood scene at Wammy's, which I didn't like him in at first). I think Near is pretty emotional in the way he speaks and his opinions and such, but he isn't extremely physically expressive maybe. I kinda relate to that as a more stoic personality type. A lot of times I'm either feeling shy or just not naturally dramatic with my body language, but I try my best to display my emotions with my words so people can tell how I feel and that I care. I didn't like Near at all in the anime though, and I do think they sort of cut a lot of stuff from his manga characterization that ended up making him more difficult to connect with emotionally and sympathize with and read.

:fire: dungeons and dragons
1- Look there's really no way to make 'this race of sniveling, barbaric sub-human-intellect savages who live in filthy caves and get all their nice stuff by stealing is a threat to Civilization that needs to be dealt with via heroic violence' not come across as, uh, uncomfortable. Changing the terminology doesn't really help, it's just kind of built in to the genre at this point - changing goblins from just being humanoids to demonspawn or evil spirits or something else without a culture or politics is probably as close as you're going to get.
2- On an entirely different angle - if you're going to have like a half dozen different 'ugly evil savage humanoid' entries in the Monster Manual at least make them distinct! Goblins and hobgoblins and orcs and troglodytes and gnolls and- are these all really mechanically or aesthetically different enough to be worth all the page count? Because the boilerplate fluff sure isn't doing the job.
3- Dragons are shamefully mechanically boring and interchangable between types, for the game's literal flagship monster. If you're making 10 breeds of True Dragons, they should all play differently, not just be slightly stronger or weaker and using different elemental affinities! Give them tricks and niches!

unpopular opinion but i think shin's obsession with sabine has to do more about herself, than about who sabine is as a person.
look how she reacted to knowing that there is another person 'like her'.
what attracted her to sabine may attract her to ezra, don't you think?
L o l, unpopular indeed...
Look, I'll say straight up. You're barking up the wrong tree, plain and simple. I think of Shin Hati as a lesbian. I kinda project myself a bit onto her. Even if I didn't, your argument at the end rests on "Well, if it was somebody else ending up in the same exact situations-"
I mean.... sure! Maybe. But.... It's Not Ezra that Shin is having all these close, personal confrontations with, or sneering at, or staring massive burning holes into. It's Sabine. (who's EXTREMELY hot by the way, not debatable) also Sabine is meant to be this badass Mandalorian, apprentice to Ahsoka, war hero, artist, creative and intelligent?? Snarky? She has a ton of... likeable qualities, even someone cold and distant could obviously grow on.
Also.... They Are alike anon! They have swathes of their background being complete foils to eachother! Obvs some aspects are Opposite, that adds to the intrigue and conflict. But uhh.
Sorry, I'm the wrong one to talk to about the Shipping stuff. You can do whatever you like with shipping as long as it's not blatantly abhorrent, like shipping adults with minors or smth. I won't go outta my way to bother you, I just probably don't agree. Might even block someone if a ship someone likes personally icks me out a lot, like Ba//ylan/Sh//in tbth. Or if you go weirdly out of ur way to bad mouth a ship I Do like. That's all.
Stay safe out there bud.

My unpopular TLT opinion is that Gideon is pansexual. This fandom is sooooo against anything that frames our two leads as not-lesbian that it's hard to talk about with other people 😭 But like, Gideon objectively thinks Babs is handsome-looking even when she doesn't like him. She would accept cuddles from Palamedes. For whatever reason, she imagined Crux's butt once. She also grew up where the only romantic option was her age and gender so people automatically assume Lesbian. But I firmly believe that gender isn't a big factor for her. She described John shrugging on a robe as "coy" — girl is horny and she don't care how you identify. She pan!
are you... saying that Gideon wants to fuck John? and Crux?
ok. lisTEN. I don't think Gideon picturing a decrepit old man naked means that she's horny for him; she absolutely doesn't want to fuck Babs (who IS objectively handsome); and I definitely don't think she wants to fuck her newly found long-lost father just because he put on a robe but was slutty about it. You can be a lesbian and look at things! Including men you aren't into. Note that Gideon also describes Harrow's necromancy in very, very horny terms, and I doubt she wants to fuck bones.
on the other hand, TazMuir gave us our blessing to picture Babs a huge monitor lizard so I'm not stopping you.
I think she's a big dyke though 💜

I laughed so hard at this one. Why do bananas freak you out?? 😂😂
Oh my god bananas! I hate them so much and everyone I know makes fun of me for it! 😭
I hate pretty much everything about them: the taste, the texture (mushy!), the smell (especially when they start to get overripe), the way they turn brown when overripe, and the stringy bits when you peel them 🤢🤮
I also hate how aggressively phallic they are lmao! No chill from this fruit istg.
They're just the worst fruit ever lol! I hate how they're in literally every smoothie and I hate anything even remotely banana flavoured.
Anyway death to bananas lmao 😁

I think there should be a movie called Top Gun: Iceman about iceman and his various gay affairs, from sleeping with random men in secret to falling in love with Maverick (also in secret), so like 15-20 minutes of random men to establish that he is in fact a homosexual and then like two hours of Ice and Mav having a very domestic life together, angst because it’s Icemav and then fluff because it’s Icemav and then at the end Ice dies
(The title could also be Top Gun: Ice Ice Baby)
I wasn’t going to post any opinions that I thought would hurt people’s feelings but I honestly don’t think anyone would find this controversial xD
I’m not super into IceMav BUT I would still watch this. Cause I never turn down more Ice content.

🔥 Critical Role ships but they must be from a campaign other than Vox Machina (as we know you are the #1 Perc'ahlia fan already)
DAMMIT.
So I haven't touched on Ashton/Fearne much, but my probably-unpopular opinion is that I can't see them being much more than friends with benefits. Like, I think they should hook up, or at least make out and have more conversations, but at least as of right now they don't really have long-term-relationship vibes. I think it's potentially in the cards...but they'd need to actually engage with it, and it's been almost ten episodes since either of them have addressed anything.
