When you slowly realize that the love you have for Neil and Andrew as a couple stems from the fact that, even though they're a mess of two of the most fucked up people in existence with loads of issues and trauma, they still manage to establish a, in comparison to other book couples, suprisingly healthy and non-toxic relationship with each other.

They might not have what some might call a conventional relationship - there are no whispered sweet nothings, elaborate love declarations and romantic candle-lit dinners.

However, what they do have works well for them and it's mutual respect for each other, they feel safe and comfortable with each other and they take special care in asking for their partner's consent and accepting given boundaries.

Which honestly should be the bare minimum in any relationship but somehow Neil and Andrew seem to succeed in it, while others apparently struggle to accept a simple "No" in real life.

Even a lot of other book couples, despite having a lot of typically romantic scenes with each other, veer uncomfortably close to the direction of absolutely shit communication, emotional manipulation, dubious consent and straight-up SA.

I don't give a single fuck about how their lips softly meet under the glowing moonlight after a heartfelt love confession when the relationship is otherwise filled with overwhelmingly possessive jealousy that restricts their partner's freedom immensely, supposed sexy and dominant growls of "You belong to me/You are mine" that make their partner out to be more of a prized possession and decisions made on behalf of their partner for their "own good" without actually respecting their choices and agency - a problematic relationship where the needs and wants of one partner completely overshadows those of the other until they don't even exist as separate individiuals anymore.

I'd rather have a relationship like Neil and Andrew's - unconventional but strong where trust, consent and mutual respect is a given.

It's tragic that the bar is so low.

Honestly at this point it feels like the only way you can win is if you're favorite character is Henry 2.0 because that's the only truly unproblematic one in the entire cast

That's literally the place people go to enjoy posts about their favorite characters. They shouldn't have to scroll past hate posts 24/7

If you want to share the reasons you don't like a character you are more than welcome to, but PLEASE post it in the main tag and please have the courtesy to leave the character tags alone. It is genuienly so sad to see how some people seemingly cannot be considerate of fans of that character and just post hate in character tags to seemingly cause controversy

Crannogmen are really just whatever you think of when you think of poor medieval ppl. They don’t got a lot to work with in the swamps. Very roughspun wool clothing, rope corded belts, old repurposed cloaks and over-garments, worn leather bags. Things that can easily be removed or added to an outfit, depending on the season, or depending on what they’re doing, whether it’s fishing or farming. In canon all of the Crannogmen are very poor, even the reeds to some extent. They are just eking out a living in the swamps

You very rarely see a crannogman unless they want you to see them, but if you do happen to catch a glimpse, they’re probably dressed like this. When they’re outside of their homes, especially for the women, clothing becomes very lightweight and easy to move around in. And old tunic, fitted breeches, high boots, and usually some sort of vest or jacket tied with a leather belt that they can shove their tools into. Even the Reeds frequently wear things like this, as I highly doubt they’re just sitting in their castle. They’re moving around, getting shit done #meerareedgirlboss

sorry i love guardian's of the galaxy vol 3's ending SO much, i just finished it like maybe not even a hour ago but here are my immediate thoughts. spoilers btw

i just...i love how they went their separate ways (<- temporarily and partially). just...they are found family and they love each other so much but in my opinion they were getting kinda toxic. like not even with nebula constantly yelling at the crew (i still love her though)

like we see at the start with peter yelling at rocket. we see it with mantis using her powers to make drax forget about her calling him stupid. we see it with draw lying to mantis about where they were going on the motorcycle. we see it with peter not defending nebula's insults at mantis or drax. we see it when mantis asks drax to give peter the advice she wanted to give him because "nobody takes her seriously". we see that with drax going against what peter, and everyone asked of him (repeatedly!). hell! we see it as mantis is trying to leave with drax saying he'll need to follow to protect her

i'm not saying they were bad people or bad friends or anything like that though! they have their flaws and i'm SO happy they do (love flawed characters). and i absolutely adore how they are with each other and i love them all so much

but we can obviously see that tensions are running high and it's getting to them. like mantis being insecure, comparing them to egor, and leaving. drax's jab at nebula about how "she didn't ask" for him knowning the higher children's language. them constantly yelling at eachother (like in that scene in the house with the killed species for example)

just i'm so happy they set them in paths where their stories can advance independently to each other (for some)

i'm going to love when they return to each other and maybe won't have as big of issues like that! ...that is if marvel does that...which i hope for...
