more depth study notes! I spent a really long time on these, collating info from the Netflix TV documentary Hitler's Circle of Evil, as well as my school textbook (which is kind of bad) and an extra study guide I bought.

I'd really recommend that you explore other materials to help in your study outside of the school assigned books, sometimes there are really detailed resources that are a huge bonus, especially when you need depth and detailed knowledge of a subject!

... is ice-cream a meal? Maybe not, so I’d say a burger or a sandwich, something light and not dense. 

What is an unpopular opinion that you have about summer?

Summer break is great... I think it’s a little over-rated sometimes, especially as I’ve gotten older. There’s a lot of work to be done over the summer, and I find my more ‘relaxing’ holidays are the shorter ones at different times during the year.

 What is your favourite ice cream flavour?

I, dear studyblr buddies, am a sucker for chocolate. Sure, I like different flavours, but nothing tops a good ol’ scoop of chocolate ice-cream.

21.12.20 I've been trying a new study method for history, which involves me mind mapping whatever I know about a topic, then filling in the blanks and correcting it in red.

it's been particularly useful, esp when I'm feeling too tired and not up to a practice paper (which TBH, is becoming more and more often despite the increasing coffee intake) and I honestly think it's like,, study fatigue? my exams have been postponed twice, now scheduled for jan, and I've had to mentally prepare myself and study and then it just didn't happen twice...

what do you do when you feel like you're in a long slump? let me know pls!! I would love to try something... anything.

posting some of my old states of matter notes! i know I promised to cycle through physics and chem to myself, but I have just been feeling so tired lately.

what are your remedies for getting out of a slump? i slept early, woke up this morning, had a huge hot mug of caramel latte, and am hoping the energy stays till after school.

tbh, don't really know what it is about online school, but you just feel exhausted after a whole day of sitting. will update later.

ok this is the last bio for a while, I swear. really. I mean, just look at that adorable potometer. I can't really explain how, but some words are just so "bubbly"? Like they're just so nice to say. 'potometer' and 'discombobulate' are kind of like that.

sigh, i know, it’s biology again, but really my chemistry notes aren’t all that dashin’ and they don’t make me feel as happy as these do. 

I find that with studying, the textbook and my teacher will mention things but not go into too much detail about what they ARE, so I always end up googling things and finding out more. Which is a good practice, but it does slow me down in the whole note-taking process. 

16th August - Daytime or night time – what’s your favourite time during summer?

Summers in Malaysia are essentially the normal weather... but hotter. So I’d have to say the night-time: if it isn’t cloudy, you get gorgeous clear skies and can spend ages staring at the stars. All the same, a rainy night is chilly and cold and windy, and perfect for bundling up into a ball under the blankets.

hm. this one is a bit blurry, the photo quality kinda got messed up (i swear it was clearer before,, but give me the benefit of the doubt).

-> chem practice questions! I did these a while back, and I keep meaning to do more, but Madame Procrastinator over here keeps bumping it to the next day, and the next day... and you know the story.

that being said, practice q's are literally the biggest (!!!) tip when it comes to studying, especially if you're in exam-based curriculum. i kid you not, they are a LIFESAVER when it comes to answer structure & the scope of the content needed in answer.

note.to.self. if this gets more than 50 notes, i will cycle through prac qs for chem, history and physics this weekend) . dear future self, it's written here and highlighted in pink to hold you accountable!

biology notes! tbh, out of all the subjects I do rn, bio is defo one of my favourites. it's definitely my favourite science... except all the diagrams. it's a pain to draw in exams, or remember them, but I spose they DO look very nice and make for pretty photos ;)

another angle of my nervous coordination notes ~ I need to get to highlighting my other chapter notes too.

q - what's your take on highlighting?

a - there are a lot of mixed opinions about it, I think a lot of a studies have shown it's ineffective for studying, but I'd say it's good for helping you pick out important details. I still highlight my textbooks, mostly to make it easier for me to write notes from because I can literally "see" all the salient points.

of course, there's also the attractive factor. if you're someone who, like me, enjoys colour, then add colour to your notes! take pride in what you do, because then ultimately, you'll actually want to make notes and want to study.

doesn't work for everyone of course, and highlighting the WHOLE textbook really defeats the purpose - what information do you need to make the connections? what can you do without?

at the end of the day, you don't want to be looking at your highlights only to see there is so much content it's overwhelming.

consolidate. summarise. revise.

We are still very much in the planning phase, and honestly, I think this whole process of falling in love with our world is just... artful. I can't really find another word for it.

the eye! this diagram took a LOT longer than I thought it would, mostly because I had to make sure I was drawing the lines and layers right and so I didn't totally screw it up.

school is getting a little busy! we usually have physical last day parties, but this year we are trying to do something of the sort online. but I find that so many of my classmates are just not motivated to chat or talk online, and it makes me really sad! there's only a few of us who are chatty, and just, I feel bad for my teachers, because they trying really hard.

when are you going back to school /uni?

I go back next week Monday and I'm absolutely PUMPED!! the school got a make-over (an absolute glow up) and though it's going to be super stressful and we need to organise a bunch of new duties for the Prefects,,, i miss it sm and can't wait to go back!

14th Aug - What is your favourite summer clothing?

... especially for beach-wear, it’s GOT to be breeeeezy long (or short) dresses with cute floral motifs, or bright, vibrant colours. I usually dress casual, all the damn time, so breakin’ out the breezy dresses is something I don’t usually do.
