HAVING UNSHAKEABLE CONFIDENCE INCLUDES

Not caring what others think.

Voicing your opinion whether others agree with them or not.

Staying true to yourself.

Walking into any room and feeling powerful (not insecure).

Realizing you don’t have competition and not comparing yourself to others.

Feeling best about what you have to offer and who you are.

Putting yourself first.

Dreaming big and taking action to make your dreams happen.

Being a master manifestor.

Not needing anyone or their approval to be great.

Laughing at haters.

Presenting your best self to the world.

Having a stable emotional state (remaining hopeful and not allowing doubt to effect you).

Having your own standards and staying true to them.

Having a secure self image and not allowing others to define you.

Never lowering your standards.

Speaking your truth.

Allowing yourself to shine (talents, gifts) without judgement.

Supporting others and being joyous when they win.

Focusing on self.

Speaking highly of yourself.

Creating and doing what you love (not just what's popular).

Remaining dedicated to your goals even when you fail.

Unshakeable

Think of the people who love you the most.

Now think about a recent bad day. Where things went horribly wrong. Maybe it was something at work or school. Maybe it was something more personal.

The kind that just grabs all of your attention. It hits so hard that it’s all you can see. You don’t have the bandwidth to think or feel about anything or anyone else. One of those days.

Now, think about the people who love you the most. In that moment, when you couldn’t even think about them – much less reach out to them or feel anything – did that have any impact on how much they love you?

Right. It had no impact at all.

Your relationship with them, how much they love you? That isn’t changed by what you’re going through. Even when you can’t feel their love. Even when you feel completely empty, the people that truly love you still truly love you.

Why would it be any different with God?

This is the point that today’s first reading is making. Where Paul warns us not to be deceived by all the things that can alarm us, that can shake our faith. If we let them.

Because our relationship with God isn’t dependent on the things that happen to us. Or on other peoples’ opinions. Or on how we feel.

Even when life is punching down on us so hard that we can’t feel much of anything. When we’re just empty inside.

None of that changes our relationship with God. Because none of that can shake the foundation of our relationship with God.

Which is what? God’s love for us. God’s unstoppable, absolutely shameless love.

Poured out endlessly for you, no matter what you hear. Or how you feel.

Because our God isn’t just the God of the best moments of our lives, when everything is going great. God is the God of every moment of our lives. Even the bad ones. Even if we’re empty.

God’s love for us is unshakeable. Even if we’re not.

SCRIPTURE:

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion. It cannot be shaken; it remains forever. The mountains surround Jerusalem and the Lord surrounds His people, both now and forever. ~ Psalm 125:1-2

OBSERVATION:

Trust - confident expectation...

Unshakable - trust...

Forever...

Surrounded - protected...

His people... me...

Now and forever...

APPLICATION:

Trust in the Lord...

Now and forever...

Remain unshakable...

Remain surrounded...

Now and forever...

PRAYER:

Eternal Father - Strong to save - forgiveness is mine and yet I so often find myself doing things outside of Your will for my life, and humbly confessing my sin... I ask that Your Holy Spirit's presence remind me of Your surrounding love and grace, and that I trust in You and Your Son Jesus over my own selfishness and wants... In His Name, and for Your glory, now and forever...

Unshakable, Unsurmountable, Undeniable Peace

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7ESV

One of the very few news sources I allow myself to pay attention to reported President Trump has lost his licenses to many of his businesses due to what a random Democratic judge, who decreed ‘corrupt business practices’ saying Trump falsified business values to banks to obtain money. Oh come on— like banks don’t do their own due diligences when lending money! Baloney! Obviously, this troubles me, because I see it as what Hitler did to the Jews in Europe and especially Germany, to obtain their wealth. Judge you'd best be careful, Hitler’s dealings ended with a one way ticket to hell. They’ve also devalued his Mara Lago residence into the thousands when the woods next to the property is valued in the millions. “Dishonest scales are an abomination to the LORD,…” Proverbs 11:1BSB.

In the natural flow of life, all of these negative events could rankle my peace. Life in general is negative enough to obliterate my peace. All my lifetime whenever negative news came, Mom would instruct us — ‘Get those arms in the air and praise the Lord, then keep praising Him.’ Paul said, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice… Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ” Philippians 4:4, 6ESV

Praise ushers us into the very throne room of the Lord God— Psalm 100:4NIV “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise..”. Praise brings Holy God into us— Psalm 22:3NLT “Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.” Praise comes out of us, removing the grief, fear, heaviness of heart, bringing us instead His covering of peace and joy. “To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion—to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit—that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified” Isaiah 61:3AMPC. When we can’t go any further, His Holy Spirit undergirds us, empowers us. As we praise Him everything changes.

As the world gets worse and worse, Jesus said, “People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken” Luke 21:26NLT. Fear has one antidote— PRAISE. Our praise drives away fear. Where God had begun to appear smaller than the situation, praise elevates Him back into His rightful place— ALL POWERFUL KING— in our minds eye. We see His power over all the power of the enemy.

With praise comes peace, each one half of the twins adjoined to mercy and love from the Father of Lights. He loves us and wants us to walk in peace. Then as David wrote in Psalm 50:14-15NLT “Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High. Then call on Me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory” Will we look beyond the bad news and praise? In the praise, we’ll find God’s peace, unshakable, unsurmountable, undeniable peace which “guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” It’s your choice. You choose.

LET’S PRAY: LORD God You deserve the glory, the power and the praise forever. I worship, we worship You. Please encompass us with you peace, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
