Best friend
Fandom: Until Dawn
Pairing: Josh Washington x Reader
Words: 857
Warnings: None
Is the Until Dawn fandom dead? Potentially. Will I write for it anyway? Absolutely!
Tumblr media
Josh Washington, for as long as I could remember, had always been my best friend.
We met in third grade when my brother, Chris, also met him. Chris introduced us both and we instantly clicked, something that never went away, even as we aged. He was, for lack of a better word, my soulmate, or maybe that was just my crush on him talking.
He was charming, cute, and overall, just a genuine person; could anyone blame me for catching feelings for him? I didn’t expect nor want it to happen, but as we grew into teens, I couldn’t help it. Of course, my friendship with him extended to a friendship with the twins who were also close friends of mine, and also with Josh and Chris’s friends who I now called my own. I loved them all, but none as much as I did with Josh.
My parents were never particularly fond of the man, saying that he was a bad influence with all his pranks, doing the same with Chris, but neither of us cared. He was a good friend, and nothing could change that, even if he did prank us at least twice a month.
In fact, that leads us to where I was right now: covered in water after I was bombarded by water balloons from my brother and my crush.
“You idiots!” I laughed, clearly not meaning the words, despite me being drenched head-to-toe in freezing cold water. They soon joined in with the laughter, growing louder and louder as they stared at me. “I’m freezing.” A pout on my lips was evident as I spoke.
Josh shook his head, still chuckling as he tossed me a towel. “There you go, you know where the bathroom is, go get cleaned up.”
“I didn’t want to give you a towel, but Josh thought we better,” Chris smirked, something which only grew as he noticed the blush quickly darting onto my cheeks; it was clear that he knew of my feelings for the man.
“Screw you, Chris. I’m going for a shower.” I said, shaking my head as I left the room, leaving the pair laughing behind me.
*
Soon after my shower, I was seated beside Josh and opposite Chris with a warm drink in our hands. It was nice, sitting with the two people I held dearest to my heart whilst we chuckled at a bad movie Josh had put on, a horror, I think.
Chris was soon to fall asleep after finishing his drink, clearly not interested in the movie, either that, or he was exhausted which was also quite possible with the blonde.
“You okay?” Josh whispered to me, trying his best to not wake Chris. “You’ve been quiet all day. Did the prank upset you?”
I smiled slightly, turning to face him. “No, Josh, I’m fine. Just thinking.”
“About what?”
I didn’t want to tell the truth, I couldn’t. How was I supposed to tell him that the reason I was so distracted was because of him. The way he smiled, laughed, even cared for me, despite pranking me earlier on. It was all becoming too much for me to handle and I wasn’t sure how much longer that I could go without exposing my feelings. Chris already knew and he was often oblivious to others feelings, especially with his mutual crush on Ashley.
“A lot of thing,” I admitted, keeping it vague and hoping he wouldn’t ask for more information. However, it wasn’t my lucky day and he raised an eyebrow in a questioning manner.
“You can tell me,” he said.
No, Josh, I can’t, was the first thing to go through my mind. Not about this.
Sensing my silence, he did the typical Josh thing that he knew would get me to cave: puppy eyes.
With a sigh, I spoke. “Promise you won’t judge?”
“I promise,”
Another sigh, “I… like someone,”
Josh’s eyes widened, only for a moment. “Oh…” His voice had an underlying emotion, one I had never heard from his before and something that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. “Who is it?” He asked, seemingly pleading once again.
I simply remained silent, all whilst my head screamed his name.
“I won’t judge, I swear,” he pleaded again. “Even if it is someone really stupid.”
“Depends if you’re stupid,” the words left my lips before I could stop them, my eyes immediately widening as I realised my mistake.
“Me…?”
“Shit, sorry,” I sighed, pulling away from him, only to have my hand grabbed, preventing me from moving.
“Don’t move…. Please.”
“Are you sure?”
“Never been surer of anything in my life.” He said, face leaning forward towards me. “Stay still.” He whispered, pausing for a moment before pressing his lips against mine.
It was as though my body went into autopilot, immediately kissing him back as my hand landed on his neck, his going to my waist. I could have stayed like that forever, and perhaps I would have had a voice not broken the moment.
“Finally!!” Chris laughed.
Josh and I pulled away from one another, a blush on both our cheeks.
“Chris!”

Outlast: Chapter Seven (Sam Giddings x Reader)

You only had a few moments of quiet to yourself before Mike went and disrupted it.
He was never good with silence in a room, always having to be the one to break it. You should’ve known he’d open his mouth before you even had a chance to clear your own thoughts.
“So, we’re still not going to address the giant elephant in the room?” he asks you, peering around your shoulder and looking up at you.
You stare straight ahead, avoiding his eyes as to not give him any tell to what you’re feeling at the moment. You were still frustrated with his persistence in knowing the truth. But it was too dangerous for him to know, and you still stood by that decision. You were confident in your ability to handle this on your own. There was no need to put your friends in any more unnecessary danger than they were already in.
“I’m not, but you can do whatever the hell you want, I guess.” You brush him off and push on past him, careful to not make your footsteps too loud while traveling through the tunnels. Anything could be lurking in the shadows, and it was better to be safe than sorry.
You hear him sigh from behind you. “Dude, come on. You’re hiding all this big shit from me and you expect me to not be curious? Yeah fucking right.”
He bumps your shoulder and you shake your head in warning. “It’s really complicated, alright? And besides, it would probably be better to talk about this when everyone is here. I don’t want to be repeating myself.”
It was an excuse, but a damn good one that you came up with on the spot. You weren’t planning on telling any of them, especially Mike. You didn’t want him to get an even bigger hero complex than he already has. It would only lead him into more danger.
“So you’re telling me that you already know—”
You cut him off. “Look, let’s just focus on finding the others right now, okay? We can get back to this later.”
Mike eyes you warily, as if he already knows you’re lying to him. “I won’t drop this, you know.” “Yeah, yeah, I know.”
“Do you really—”
“Yes, Mike, I will answer all of the burning questions you have for me, eventually.”
He barely had time to reply before you two made it to a familiar place—the lodge. But you weren’t at the normal entrance. Instead it looked as though you had come from a back way, and were heading right towards the basement.
“Someone may be in there. Be careful not to spook them,” you warned Mike.
“I’m not stupid, Tex.” You could practically hear him roll his eyes. But the way he lightened up his footsteps ever so slightly had you smirking in victory.
When the two of you made it to the tiny grate that was the basement window, Mike stepped in front of you. He slowed down, then came to a stop, causing you to peek out from behind to check what made him pause.
And then you hear your name being called out by a voice you knew all too well. Sam.

Hearing Sam’s voice was like breathing in a breath of fresh air that you didn’t know that you needed until that very moment.
“Sam!” You push Mike out of your way, hearing a slight hey!  from him. But you ignore his complaints, instead immediately running towards your girlfriend who is bound to a chair, wearing nothing but a towel.
Your jaw clenches as you grasp onto the bars of the window, trying to pull them loose but to no avail.
“Who did this to you?”
Sam looks disoriented, rapidly blinking as she takes in her surroundings. “I-I’m not entirely sure. I was in the bath and then there was this man chasing me and—”
“Okay, okay just,” Mike begins to calm her down, holding his hand out to shush her. “Just relax. We’ll get you out of there and then we can regroup and figure out what the hell is going on.”
You were never a patient person, and you sure as hell weren’t going to wait for Mike to come up with a solution when you had an easier one on hand.
Whipping out the machete, you search for an entrance, finding one around the corner and you take your weapon to the wooden door.
“Woah, Tex! You’re going to alert someone!” The banging of your machete drowns out Mike’s exclamations. You’re laser-focused on getting Sam out of the basement.
“Oh fuck off! We don’t have any better ideas!”
The door finally splinters away enough where you can bust through it. You shoulder your way in and are finally able to see Sam.
You didn’t realize how long it had actually been since you last saw your girlfriend. She looked utterly exhausted, deep bags having formed under her eyes and her skin looking paler than usual. She’s practically slumped in the chair she’s tied to, and there’s a nasty bruise forming on her temple.
You rush over to her and swiftly cut her free, scooping her up in your arms tightly. Your arms quiver, a combination of the cold and the relief of seeing her alive and safe.
“Oh my god, you don’t know how glad I am to see you alone in a creepy basement.”
Sam laughs at your comment and grabs your forearms to steady herself as you pull back, leaning up to kiss you.
You press yourself into her, missing the feeling of her touch against you. Her lips are cold and chapped, but you couldn’t care less about that. Sam’s body melts into your hold, and you run your hands through your fingers as you deepen the kiss, a soft moan leaving your girlfriend’s lips as you do so.
A superficial cough breaks you out of your kiss.
You swivel your head towards Mike, giving him your middle finger for the interruption. His eyes shift everywhere but to your own, and he rocks on the balls of his feet awkwardly.
“Fuck off, man,” you growl out, “I’ve been worrying about her since I fucking left. Give me a break.”
Sam sighs, patting your chest gently. “It’s fine, babe. I need to get dressed anyway.”
You grab her backpack for her and usher her over to an isolated corner of the room to give her some semblance of privacy.
You turn back and see that Mike hasn’t moved from his position. You send him the iciest glare you can muster.
“Do you mind?”
He jumps a bit. “Oh. Right. My bad.” And then he finally turns around.
You tut and roll your eyes. “Fucking men,” you grumble under your breath.
Sam only takes a quick minute to change into her clothes, donning a red zip-up hoodie and some light gray athletic leggings.
You let out a teasing low whistle when she bends down to close her bag, admiring your girlfriend’s beautiful assets.
The tinge of red that you see covering the tips of her ears has you laughing as she finishes tying her shoes, and you give her another kiss as the three of you regroup and figure out what the fuck has been going on.
“So, what happened?” Sam speaks first. “Where the hell have you guys been?”
You share a glance with Mike. You both hesitate to answer.
“Did you see any others?” Sam continues. “The house was empty when he attacked me. I couldn’t find Chris or Ashley. Did you see them on your way here?”
You and Mike exchange a look. Sam was stuck in the lodge this whole entire time. She knew absolutely nothing about what had conspired.
Sam rolls her eyes. “C’mon guys. Spill.”
You didn’t want Mike to have to spend any more time than he had to thinking about his girlfriend’s death, so you spoke up instead.
“Jess…” You grab onto Sam’s hand, rubbing your thumb across the back of it. “Jess didn’t make it. She was attacked.” You can hear the hitch in her breath and the way she subtly squeezes your hand tighter. You open your mouth to continue, but Mike beats you to it, now pacing back and forth.
“He killed her, Sam. There's some maniac on the mountain who is trying to kill us. All of us. And I swear to God, when everyone is safe and accounted for I am gonna hunt that fucker down and rip his nuts off one at a goddamn time.”
Sam’s eyes widen. “Whoa.”
You don’t want him to get even more riled up, so you interrupt his tirade.
“We couldn’t reach her in time...” You trail off as you see the way Sam’s reaction changes ever so slightly with the news.
“What?” You grab onto her shoulders. You knew that look on her face, the way her eyebrows furrow and she bit her lip that was quivering ever-so-slightly. It meant that something bad had happened. Real bad. “What is it, Sam?” You ask her, concerned.
She looks up at you and guilt shines in her eyes. “Babe,” she begins, “Something else happened.”
“Are you hurt anywhere?” You start inspecting her, looking for any more injuries she may be hiding from you.
“What’s going on?” Mike asks hurriedly, seeing the way your body tenses up from Sam’s reaction.
“No, no—” She gently pushes you away, grabbing your hands and making eye contact with you. “It’s not me. Baby, it’s-it’s Josh. There was this video, and…” she teeters off, biting her lip, her eyes now downcast. “He’s dead.”
You freeze.
Josh? One of your childhood best friends? The guy you were just joking around with only a couple hours ago?
You try to maintain your composure as you take in the news. Sam’s hand acts like your anchor, and you're happy she never let go of it.
Your mind drifts back to her words. There was a video. Which meant she had to watch him die. The thought fills you with rage. She didn’t deserve to see something so traumatizing as her friend’s death.
“I’m sorry you had to see that,” you say to her gently, pulling her head closer to you and stroking her hair. “How did all of this happen? You said there was a man?”
Her head lowers, no doubt sorting through all of the memories in her head. “I got out of the bath, and I couldn't find Chris, Ashley, or Josh. There was this man, he had on a weird mask. I ran into the theater room, and on the screen,” her voice quivers and your heart clenches in your chest. “The video. Josh was chained up, and there was this giant saw,” she takes a deep breath. “The man was chasing me around the house. I tried to hide, but he knocked me out. I was only awake for a bit before you guys found me.”
You hide your shudder of disgust. Not even a quick death. You instead nod, focusing in on Sam and listening to her every word intently. “And you’re sure you’re alright?” you ask her gently.
She kisses the crevice between your shoulder and neck. “I’m alright. I’ve had some time to process it.” She takes a few more seconds to bask in your hold and then she stands up, rubbing her hands together. “We need a plan for what the hell we’re going to do now.”
“Right,” Mike sighs out.
Suddenly, you hear faint screams in the room next to you. All three of you swivel your heads to the noise.
“Is that…” he starts.
“Please!” A voice screams out. There’s no doubt that the voice belongs to Ashley.
“Fuck,” you grumble, and you rush over to unlock the door where it’s coming from. You can hear Sam and Mike’s footsteps as they come up behind you.
You won’t let another friend die tonight.

Just wanted to write something real quick for the until dawn fandom.
Please rise my friends
Rewatch the gameplay
Replay the game
Bring back until dawn along with the quarry.
I feel like games like that don’t stay popular for very long because of the lack of people interested in choose your own story games as well as the length of these games.
It takes forever to write hundreds of endings for a single game so the fact that we have these two great ones (not a trash in other CYS games just these two are my favorite) is awesome.
I think more people should be introduced to these games and I definitely think with TikTok and twitter we can hype them up more!!!
If we bring more attention to these games the creators might be inspired to make more content with characters we all know and love👍🏽
Consider this post and share.

Staring in the Devil’s Eyes
Sam/Josh [Until Dawn], Canon Divergence AU [rated E | wc: 4.8k | non-con/dub-con, explicit smut, kidnapping, everyone’s a little bit fucked in the head]
Sam Giddings had received warnings about Josh Washington since the day she first met him. From his sisters, from her mom, from her classmates. But they have a connection, she gets him even if others don’t. But she missed the biggest red flag of them all and now she’s trapped by a guy that she’s not so sure she understands anymore.
But Josh isn’t mad at her anymore. In fact, he’d like to thank her for being so upset about his supposed death––whether or not she’s ready for it.

Chapter 3
Chapter 4
Chapter 5
*Technically, Chapter 6 in game*
Chris, Ashley and I make it back to the cabin. The three of us split up and search the cabin for Sam. Ashley and I met in the main room of the lodge. I ask her “Were you able to find anything?” She says “No, you?” I say “No.” Chris runs down the stairs. Ashley asks him “She wasn’t up there?” He says “I don’t know…I didn’t see her. She must have come down here.” I tell him “We haven’t seen her either.”
We walk down a hallway as a candle suddenly lights. The three of us jump. Ashley says “Ahh! Did that just happen?” Chris says “Dammit! What is going on around here?”
The three of us walk down to the first floor and into the Cinema Room. Ashley says “Chris…(Y/N)…” I say “Sa - - What?” For some reason, Ashley chooses now to bring up what happened in the shed. She says to Chris “Chris I just want to say…what happened back there in the shed…I know how hard that was…Josh was your friend…” I tell her “Ash, I don’t mean to sound rude but can we please not bring up what happened in the shed?”
Chris looks at me with concern. He tells her “Ashley stop…” She continues “No, I want to say - - I mean thank you - - thank you for saving my life - -“ We continue down the hallway. Chris tells her “Sure Ash…Sure. I mean…I’d do it again.” I roll my eyes.
He asks me “(Y/N), are you alright?” I tell him “Yeah, I’m doing okay. It’s just hard to comprehend your boyfriend getting sawed in half.” Showing Ashley that I care that she is okay, I ask “Ash, you alright?” She tells me “Yeah, I just…dating him, it must not be easy watching that. And. Chris, I know you and him were close.”
“Let’s just find Sam, okay? That’s what we’re doing now.” Chris says. Ashley says “I mean, oh my god - -“ I say “Ashley, please stop, okay? I don’t want to think about what just happened.” She says “Chris - - (Y/N) - -“ He says “We’re finding Sam.”
The three of us exit the Cinema Room as the door slams behind us. I say “What the heck!” I try to open the Guest Room door. It opens slightly but then closes. Chris says “This is so eff-ed up!” I try and open the door again. Ashley says “That’s really creepy!”
The door to the hallway opens by itself as I see a figure walk across the other end. I scream and ask “Wait a minute. Did the two of you see that?” Chris asks “Did we see what?” I say as I point down the hall, “That, Chris. That.” He says “What ‘that’ was that?” I tell him “It was like…a see through shape. Like a ghost.” Ashley says “Oh boy.”
I tell them “I’m serious. Why don’t the two of you believe me!? I said I saw it, doesn’t that count for anything?” Chris says “We’ve been through Hell tonight. Okay? Your mind is fried. Our minds are fried. I don’t even trust what I’ve been seeing.” I look at the ground and say “I don’t know. I don’t know. I just…I saw something…” Sincerely, Chris tells me “It’s okay. You’re just…we’re all…kind of out of our heads right now. I mean we just…we gotta pull it together, okay? You with us?” I start “Chris…”
Chris says “Let’s just…let’s just keep our heads.” Ashley asks “Are we going crazy down here?” We make our way to the basement. Chris says “It’s the only place left Sam could be.” She says “I wish we could just go find everybody else, and - -“ I ask “What if Sam needs us? What if she’s in trouble?” She says, shakily “Oh god…”
The basement door opens. Chris says “Let’s go.” We walk down the stairs and are welcomed to a loud noise. An item flies out of a cabinet as there is another loud noise. I yell “WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!” Ashley asks “What the HELL is going ON!!” Chris and I are trying to find where the noise comes from when we hear Ashley scream. We turn around and Chris says “Whoa!” She says as she points to a rocking horse, “Oh my god that scared me!” I ask her “You knocked into it right? You knocked into it?” She says “I don’t - I don’t think so…I mean, I don’t know!! How did everything get so freaky around here? Door slamming and candles lighting up out of nowhere and that specter that (Y/N) saw - -“
Chris tells her “Ashley, I think you’re kind of ignoring what’s really happening here - -“ I ask “Don’t tell me the two of you didn’t see that translucent white figure just passing right by us?” He turns to me and says “We…We could be seeing things - -“ I tell him “I’m not imaging things!” He says “Yeah, well I saw things too! We saw what happened to Josh in the shed! And that’s what I’m worried about!” I look down at the cement floor, say “Oh…Chris…I know…I know…”
He says “You know what I’m worried about? Okay? I’m worried about Sam! What’s happened to her? If there’s some maniac out here then she could be dead too!” Ashley steps closer and says “Don’t say that! Please, Chris.”
Ashley walks over to a dollhouse. She motions us over. She tells us “Look-look look look! You can see in the windows.” Sarcastically, Chris asks “See what? Tiny furniture?” She says “No, it’s a whole scene, with dolls and everything!” I ask “Yeah?” Ashley lifts a compartment near the roof. The compartment reveals a keyhole. He says “Huh. I guess you need a key if you want to play around in there.”
Out of the corner of my eye, I see the ghost again. I point at it and say “Wait! Chris-Ashley-Chris-Ashley-Chris!! The ghost!!” They spin around. Chris asks “What?!” I ask “Didn’t you see it?” Ashley shakes her head and says “No.” A little annoyed, I say “You were looking at your phone, you dip! What are you tweeting?! Hashtag there’s a freaking ghost after us?!”
Chris says “(Y/N), calm down, okay. There is no ghost here. Ghost of what? You’re freaked out because of what happened with Josh -“ I tell them “You’re not paying attention. I saw it. I saw a ghost and it looked like Hannah! It looked like Hannah!” Ashley asks “Wait wait wait WHAT?” I add “Or-or maybe Beth.” Chris says “Jesus…What do you think they followed us up here from the séance?”
I said “I don’t know, maybe!” He tells me “They didn’t! Because ghosts don’t exist, okay?” I ask “Okay, who was talking to us at the séance, Chris?!” He says while massaging the back of his neck, “I don’t know.” All of a sudden, there was a scream in the air and an object hits the ground.
The three of us jump. Ashley asks “What did that?” Chris asks “How does a picture just jump off the wall like that?” Ashley notices something on the floor. She walks over to pick it up. She walks back over to us and I notice she is holding a key.
Ashley looks down the hall, points and says “Oh my GOD! There-look there!!” Chris and I turn around and see where she is pointing. He says “Wow, that’s…” I tell them “See?! You do see it.” He says “…that’s…I dunno…I-I just…This is fucking crazy…” He runs down the hall. Ashley says “It’s showing us the way!” She puts the key in the keyhole on the dollhouse. She says “This is unbelievable. I feel like the ghost wanted us to see this.”
Chris asks “Why?! What?!” Ashley opens the dollhouse and inside were dolls sitting in the bedroom. I ask “Whoa, whoa whoa-what is going on here?” She begins “Oh God! It’s like -“ Chris says “It’s not ‘like’ anything. That’s us. Hiding there, waiting for Hannah. Last year.”
Ashley to the dolls, “But…It’s so accurate, I mean that’s exactly where I was sitting…and that’s where Matt was…” I say “This was setup by someone. Who was there.” She says “Or someone, or something that was watching us…” I tell them “Maybe it’s a warning. I think someone…I think someone put this here to mess with us.” Ashley says “No, it has to be the ghost, it’s trying to tell us the maniac killed Hannah and Beth!” Chris says “I think it’s this bastard, and he’s…he’s just trying to fuck with our heads.” She asks “Why would he set this all up?” He says “He’s trying to tell us he’s going to come after us all too.”
The doll’s head turns to the side and the eyes open. We jump back in surprise. I say “Yikes!” The top of the dollhouse opens to reveal something inside. Ashley picks it up and it’s a diary. She says “It’s…It’s Hannah’s diary.” She turns to one of the pages and begins to read ‘I really think…Josh is doing better now that he’s out of the hospital…I saw him today - -‘ I look over her shoulder and look at when it was dated. I say “This was…before, a couple months before we all came up…”
She continues to read ‘I saw him today and he seemed…better…he’s pretty upbeat, but…he talked like he’s been doing therapy…for such a long time…guess I didn’t know, mom and dad never let on…Funny how you cannot even know your own brother. I kinda need a good cry…thinking about how lonely he must feel…’
Ashley gets to the last page then continues ‘everyone being together here…on the mountain…is gonna be so awesome…cozy fires and hot tubs…and OMG Mike…I am so psyched to spend some time with him…’ She adds “I can’t read this. It’s so sad…” She closes the diary and puts it back.
A door creaks open down the hall. I ask “What was that?” Chris says “It came from down there.” I go check out the noise. I open the door more and go through it. I am met with something. Chris and Ashley run in after me but the door closes and separates us. Chris and Ashley say “Goddammit!” Frightened, I say “Oh! Chris! Ashley!”
I bang on the door. Chris was able to get it open, he says “Nothing.” I say “But you did see it. For real.” Chris says “We saw…something. But where’d it go?” Ashley walks in and finds a lightbulb catalogue. She says “Hey…Hey, look at this. Doesn’t seem as old as some of the stuff down here.” I look at it, ask “A catalogue…for industrial lightbulbs?” Chris says “That is so random.” Ashley turns to one of the pages. She tells us “Look. One of the bulbs is circled.” I see which one it is. I say “That’s a powerful bulb.”
I find a hidden camera. I ask “Uh? You think it’s the guy?” Chris says “Well that makes sense.” Ashley says “I don’t like being watched.” I turn the camera around and ask “Better?” Ashely turns it back around and say into it, “Go suck an egg!” She turns it back around and says, “Now it’s better.”
We continue walking in the dark and damp basement with Chris leading the way. The shudders rattle. Ashley asks “Uhhh? What was that? Huh.” Chris says “Wait there’s a whole ‘nother room through here. It’s mammoth.” I say “I don’t know if I want to keep going.”
We continue walking a crumbling hallway. I ask “Where in the world are we now?” Chris asks Are you kidding me?” I ask him “Did you know this was here?” He tells us “This? This is like a whole ‘nother hotel. I had no idea this was here.”
Ashley says “I don’t think I can take any more of this.” Chris says “Yeah I’m about at my limit here too.” I say “All I wanted to do was forget last year ever happened…” He says “To be honest I’m not sure what Hannah thought she was doing.” Ashley says while looking at Chris, “Yeah…well…you know how it is when you’re crushing pretty hard on somebody…” I look down at the ground thinking of Josh.
Chris says “Great, so you’re basically saying that we put a vulnerable friend in a terrible situation and essentially caused her to run away and never be heard of again?” Ashley says “If it was you, don’t you think you would have run away? I mean who likes being made fun of?” He says “People don’t make fun of me.” She says “To your face.” He asks “What?” She tells me “Chris, we made her look so stupid, in front of all her friends and the guy she liked. I can’t imagine doing anything worse to somebody.”
I find a stack of fake newspapers that reads ‘Ex-Janitor Convicted For Arson.’ There was also a return address, ‘18th August 2014 Return Address: Quality Copy Ltd. 2100 - Clarke Ave. SW, Edmonton, Alberta, T6N 8J5.’ I say “Hey. These…are these fake? Why would anyone make fake newspapers?” Chris says “That’s a really good question.”
We keep going and come to a staircase that leads underground. Ashley says “You know what? No.” Chris turns around to look at her. He says “Ash -“ She tells him “No! I’ve had enough! I’m not going down any further into this nightmare!” He says “Ashely…I understand, okay? We’re all really freaked out too. But if Sam’s down there all alone with a maniac…and we leave? We’re basically killing her ourselves.”
I say “Guys…I’m gettin’ a really weird feeling from all this…” Chris asks “What do you mean?” I tell them “I just…I can’t shake the feeling that those fake newspapers have something to do with the guy who killed Josh.” Ashley asks “Like what?” He asks “Like it’s a…setup or something?” I say “Yeah…but…I mean, how? It’s just…it almost makes sense but it just feels like we’re missing something.”
We head into a room as the door slams right behind us. Ashley walks up to something hanging from the ceiling. She says “Oh no, you’ve got to be kidding me. Repulsive!” Chris says “This can’t be for eating.” She asks “Why the hell is it here?” He says “It’s like a goddamn grind house in here.”
I walk around and on a wall there were hooks and chains. Chris says “Oh jeez. This is so enticing.” I say “Oh boy…You think all this stuff is…his?” He says “Unless the Washingtons were into some freaky shit in their spare time, then yeah…probably.” I tell him “I’ve never seen this stuff before.”
Ashley finds a wall with photos of each of us. She says “That’s us.” Chris asks “What is this, like a fucking hit list? Christ.”
She goes into a room. We hear a machine start up. Chris and I go see where it is coming from. I ask “Hello?” She says “Oh god…it’s from last year…the stupid prank.” He says, sympathetically “Uh…This is a little…This is a little uncomfortable, huh?” She says “I’ve never seen this video…She’s just so…” I ask “So…what?” She says with regret, “She’s so excited…and alive.” I say “She has no idea.” Ashley all of a sudden sees herself in the video, says “Oh jeez.” Chris tells her “Whoa. I forgot you were such a willful participant.” She says “This is horrible. I couldn’t feel worse.” Chris tells her “You look like you were enjoying yourself.” She tells us “That’s the worse part, isn’t it? We were just playing a joke. It was supposed to be funny.” I feel tears starting to form in the corners of my eyes. I say “Yeah.” And walk out.
In the distance, I notice a red smear on a door. As I get closer, I notice that it looks like blood. I shout “CHRIS! ASHLEY!” They come walking out of the room to where I am. As they get closer, I tell them “Oh crap - look at that.” Ashley asks “Blood?!” Chris says “Might be Sam’s. Let me see if I can get this…”
Chris begins trying to open the door. He is getting it with a struggle. He says “Ungh…Got it…but…damn this thing is heavy -“ I tell him “Be careful!” He tells us “You guys gotta come through…Ash…(Y/N)…I can’t hold it…Ungh…Come on…”
In the room to the right, I spot a figure. I say “Oh!! Chris! Ashley!” They both say “What?” I tell them “I think I just saw Sam over there!” Ashley asks “(Y/N)…Are you SURE?” I tell them “I don’t know, but come on. I think we should check it out.” Chris who is still holding the door open, says “Well I’m pretty sure whoever’s bleeding came through here, okay? So we really got to get moving like now!”
I look from Chris and Ashley to the other room. I tell them “I’ll catch up to you. Sam!!” They both say “(Y/N) -“ I walk into the room as the door closes behind me. I shout “Chris! Ashley! CHRIS!!!! ASHLEY!!!! Help! I’m stuck!” I stop as I hear steps walking toward wood planks. I duck down as the Psycho walks by. Once the Psycho was far enough away, I butt scoot in the opposite direction. I then stand up and run out of the room. I open a door then shut it behind me. I walk backwards, mumbling “Shit shit shit shit shit shit shit…”
I keep backing up and then bump into something hard. I turn around real slow and scream, “Ahh!” It was Ashley and Chris. I say “ASHLEY! CHRIS!” He says as he puts an arm around my shoulders, “Hey hey hey - relax -“ I say “You guys scared me half to dea - ohmygod.” Ashley says “We weren’t trying to scare you.” I tell them “Sorry to disappoint you!” Chris says “Hey, sorry, alright - take it easy.” I tell them “The psycho. I just saw him.” He asks “What? Where? Where did he go?” I say “I don’t know! But we’ve got to be quiet! He’s gotta be…still really close.” Chris says “Awesome.”
We then hear “Please no!” I yell “Sam?” The three of us enter through a set of double doors. Ashley says “Oh, Chris. Oh no.” Chris asks “Hello?” I ask “Sam?” I walk toward a chair, cautiously and turn it around. Sitting in the chair was Sam in just a towel. I say “Sam!! Chris, is she dead? Holy shit, holy shit -“ Chris tells us “Shit. She’s not-she’s not dead.” Ashley asks “How do you know?” He says “She’s still breathing.” I ask “What the hell is wrong?” He says “I think she’s been knocked out.” Ashley says “Ohh. Oh no no no no no. This is bad, this bad!! We’ve got to get her out of here!”
Chris is all of a sudden knocked out with gas. Ashley shouts “CHRIS!” I shout “OH SHIT!!” We see that it was the Psycho. He goes after Ashley, she shouts “AHHH NO! GET BACK! Stay the hell away from me!” She stabs him with scissors in the left shoulder. He says “Oh, no nono, live and learn!” She asks “What?” He punches Ashley who gets knocked out. He says again “Live and learn.” The Psycho then grabs my wrist and yanks me toward him. He places the gas over my mouth and I drift out.
I am woken up by Chris saying “Ohh. Shit…oh crap…(Y/N)? Ash? (Y/N)!! ASH!!” I blink my eyes open and find myself tied to a chair, facing Chris and Ashley. Ashley wakes up and looks around. I see she has a black eye. I try and break free. Chris asks “Aw, Jesus, Ash - what did he do to you?” She says “I think…he hit me…” I shout “CHRIS!! ASHLEY!!” Ashley asks “(Y/N), are you okay?” I tell her “Yeah, I’m just tied to a chair. I’m happy to see you two.” Chris says “We’re happy to see you too. Shit. I’m gonna murder his fucking face off.” I ask “What is this?” He says “This is him. This is the guy who killed Josh -“ I say “No.” Ashley says “No, Chris…Oh my god no!! Oh god…Chris!!” He shouts “You murdering piece of shit! You MONSTER!” She says “Look around!! We’re gonna die! I don’t think I’m ready to die…” Trying to break free from the restraints, I say “No-one is going to die.”
Ashley says “I wish I could tell you…it’s just not fair!” Chris asks “What? Tell me what?” She says “It’s too late! Chris, what’s the point?!” He says “Stop it, just say…” I say “Ashley, just tell him!” She begins “We’re always talking around it, and now, I mean, we’ve wasted everything!” He says “Ashley…none of it was wasted.” She asks “What do you mean?” He tells her “Every second that I spent with you was the only thing I ever wanted to do with my time.” Ashley asks “What are you saying, Chris?” Chris says “I’m sorry…I should have told you how I felt.” She says “Chris!” He says “Ashley, I swear, when we get out of this -“
That’s when a saw from up above, turns on and slowly moves down. I say “Oh god!” Ashley shouts “AHH!! No! Help!” I continue to try and break the restraints. Chris says “I’ll get us out of this! I won’t let us die!” Ashley and I both scream and begin sobbing. A voice says from overhead “Hello there my special little subjects.” I freeze and look around. Ashley says “I’m so scared.” I say “Aw, shit.” Chris says “Don’t be scared.” The voice says “Oh, you should be, because here’s the twist: Chris has made one fatal choice already today,” I say “Oh no…no…” The voice tells us “and now he must make another. Chris…you can take that gun in front of you and shoot Ashley, or you can shoot yourself. Whoever is left, can live! The choice is yours.” Chris picks up the gun, points it at the saw and shoots. The voice laughs and says “Don’t be so silly, Chris.”

Hugs & Kisses
sam giddings x fem! reader
summary: Sam loves to hug and kiss you
warning: pure fluff
»»————- ★ ————-««
Sam and her infectious smile and caring nature, had always been the beacon of light for her friends. However, little did she know that there was someone whose heart fluttered every time she entered a room - a person who found solace in the comforting embrace of her presence. That person was you, whose life had been forever changed by the warm and gentle love of Sam.
From the moment you met Sam, you felt an instant connection, as if the universe had conspired to bring you together. Her bright eyes and kind words made your heart skip a beat, and it wasn't long before you found yourself falling deeply in love with her.
Sam, in all her glory, reciprocated your feelings with an unwavering devotion. She adored the way you saw the world and the tenderness you showed her. To her, you were an ethereal presence, a guiding light that illuminated her darkest corners.
As your relationship grew, so did your appreciation for Sam's affectionate nature. She had an innate ability to sense when you needed a hug or a gentle touch, and her arms became your safe haven. The way she held you close, her heartbeat in sync with yours, made you feel loved and cherished beyond measure. One lazy afternoon, as you curled up on the couch together, Sam peppered your face with sweet kisses. Each touch of her lips against your skin felt like a delicate caress, sending shivers down your spine.
You blushed, feeling a surge of warmth spreading through your body. "And you, Samantha giddings, have the most magical kisses. They make me feel like I'm floating in the sky."
Sam chuckled softly, her fingers tracing lazy circles on your arm. "Well, I could kiss you forever, you know. You're my everything."
In that moment, time seemed to stand still. The world faded away, leaving only the two of you, intertwined in a love that transcended words. It was a love that found solace in stolen moments and tender touches. your love for Sam only deepened. Every hug she gave you was like a warm embrace, enveloping you in a cocoon of safety and love. Her touch had the power to heal your wounds and calm the storms within.
In return, you found joy in showering her with affection, delighting in the way her face lit up with a radiant smile whenever you planted a gentle kiss on her cheek. Your love was a dance, a harmonious rhythm that only the two of you could hear. Nobody else would understand.
Together, you created a world where love reigned supreme, where hugs and kisses were the language spoken between two souls deeply entwined. You found a love that surpassed your wildest dreams, and in each other's arms, you discovered the meaning of true bliss.
And as you drifted off to sleep, Sam's arms wrapped protectively around you, you knew that your love story would forever be etched in the stars, a testament to the power of love, tenderness, and the undeniable magic that existed between you and Sam.

Like Wringing Blood From A Stone An Until Dawn/The Quarry fic by TheIcyQueen
That fear was what you saw in tiny animals backed into corners or caught in traps; small, pathetic things cowering under the shadow of a predator as they struggled with the impossible choice of having their insides torn out or chewing their own leg off, knowing either way there’d be teeth tearing through their sinews and cracking their bones. You didn’t usually see that level of terror in people, and for that reason, it was was captivating.
She was one of Jack’s mysterious survivors, one of the poor unfortunates he only ever referred to as ‘those idiot kids from the Pines.’ She was thin, she was shivering, she was beat up seven ways from Sunday. She was a sniffling, sobbing, snotty, terrified mess in front of that camera. Her name was Ashley Brown, and she wasn’t Travis’s favorite, but she was a close second. A very, very close second.
It was just so hard to beat Emily.

Chapter Sixteen: “After the Storm”
Okay, long, LONG, time coming, but I've been sitting on this one for over a year, but we're finally getting a full Pricefield chapter, after spending sixteen chapters mostly in the background.
Tumblr media
We are also gonna be following up a segment I wrote in chapter 3 (all the way back from 2020). I've been meaning to do this one last year, but I had other arcs to wrap up. Mainly Rachel’s LA storyline.
Now this is a Route A chapter (”Sacrifice Arcadia Bay”), and will cover the immediate aftermath of the Bae ending, at least this fic’s version of that ending, and the FBC's investigation.
It was gonna be longer and would focus on Max and Chloe's years together before the present day, but I didn't want to over bloat the chapter. Luckily, it’s Route B (“Sacrifice Chloe”) version won’t be that much of a hassle to write.
We were also gonna cover how the cast of Until Dawn meet and befriends the surviving LIS cast in 2015. But that can be saved for a later date.
There are other things I was hoping include; properly introducing Chloe's grandmother, Beth Price, after spending a while talking about her; as well as finding out more about this “Diana Reid” that Jonathan and Ashbury being up here and there.
Tumblr media
But I think Diana will get her own chapter covering her backstory.
One newcomer we have is Agent “Gabriel Wallace”, an FBC agent and a seemingly minor but key player in the lore of Vampyr and this fic’s backstory. Though I’m not really subtle about his true identity. “Wallace” also briefly appears in the previous chapter, but this is his proper introduction.
Anyways, with what I did include, I hope you enjoy the read. We’re also getting several characters I’ve been wanting to feature for a while; be it those lost to the storm, who it’s survivors.
Content Warning: Canon character deaths and violence typical to the story thus far. There’s also mentions, allusions and a quick instance of sexual assault; however, there’s nothing too graphic depicted there.

Outlast: Chapter Eight (Sam Giddings x Reader)
Tumblr media
Series Masterlist
Word Count: 2.5K
Tumblr media
3:26
You bust into the room, Sam and Mike right on your heels. Just as you do, a scene of chaos folds out in front of you. Ashley and Chris are strapped into two chairs, opposite each other. A man in a skull-like mask stands across from them, who you could only assume is this Psycho that had hurt Sam and killed Josh.
Chris holds up a gun at the Psycho, firing rapidly. Nothing happens. Before you even have time to react, the Psycho speaks up.
“Oh Chris...Oh, Chris, Chris, Chris, Chris.”
“What the fuck…” you and Chris mutter in unison.
The Psycho reaches up to remove his mask. “Oh you've heard of blanks before. I mean really?”
When he reveals his face, you're sure that your heart stops in your chest for a second. You can hear Sam gasp behind you.
And in front of you stands Josh, smiling proudly.
“Josh?” Chris asks.
“Josh!” Sam gasps.
“Josh,” Mike mutters.
“What the actual fuck.” You rub your temples, barely able to comprehend the situation in front of you. You really wish you had some alcohol on you right now.
As Josh starts his whole spiel, you run over to untie your friends. As you get Ashley, Mike moves to free Chris.
“How does it feel? Do you enjoy feeling terrorized? Humiliated? I mean, panicked? All those emotions that my sisters got to feel once one year ago! Only guess what? They didn't get to laugh it off! No! Nope! No no no! They're gone!”
Josh’s voice is shaky and his eyes are unfocused as he rambles on. You can’t help but pity your friend, who had been more tormented than you could’ve ever imagined by the overwhelming guilt over Hannah and Beth’s disappearances.
As Josh examples his pranks, going more and more into the specific details he concocted, you can’t help but be wary at Mike’s increasing anger.
“I don't know if you noticed this, Josh, but none of us are laughing.” He bites out his words, tone rigid.
Dread washes over you as you realize exactly what’s making Mike angrier than he should be. He thinks Josh had something to do with Jessica’s death.
Fuck. Double fuck. You mentally punch yourself, allowing the miscommunication about the truth of the Blackwood Mountain to get this far. You need to explain to your friends the truth, and quickly, before more get hurt.
“Why are you doing this, Josh?” Sam asks, voice barely above a whisper. But her question still rings out in the barren room.
“He’s out of his fucking mind over here. Don’t even bother fucking asking the looney,” Mike quips.
“He’s sick,” Chris says, pity dripping off his words. His attempt to diffuse the situation is a miss. Mike is still fuming, and you can practically see steam leaving his body.
“Mike, calm down.” The words leave your lips before you can even stop them.
He whirls around to face you, and you immediately know you’re going to be bearing the brunt of the anger. You’ll gladly take it if it means Josh won’t be falsely blamed for acts he didn’t commit.
He storms over to you, chest to chest as he glares up at you. “He fucking killed her.” His words are laced with grief as he fists the front of your shirt.
“No he didn’t,” you throw back, exasperated. “It wouldn’t make any fucking sense. Think logically about this, Mike.”
He scoffs and rolls his eyes. “You of all people shouldn’t say shit like that. Keeping all these fucking secrets. Were you in on this? Is that why you’re not saying shit?”
You don’t even try to entertain his words as his voice gradually becomes louder, more intense, and you can hear Sam trying to break the two of you up. Her arm wraps around your bicep and she tugs you back, away from Mike.
Josh barks out a laugh behind you, causing you all focus your attention back on him.
“This is all just perfect. Come on, you guys are all going to thank me when you guys become internet sensations!”
You raise an eyebrow as Chris is the one to speak up. “What are you talking about?”
“Oh you better believe this little puppy is going viral ladies and germs. I mean we got unrequited love. We got fights. We got...we got blood! I don't think there's enough hard drives in China to count all the views we're gonna get, you guys.”
“Jesus Christ,” your hand runs over your face as you take in everything Josh says.
But of course, Mike isn’t too pleased with his response.
“What the fuck are you talking about, you fucking ass hat? Jessica is fucking dead!”
Josh blinks, looking stunned at the news. “What?”
“Jessica is fucking dead, and you are going to pay, you dick!”
“Damn it Mike, stop it!” Your words are no use, and you can’t stop Mike in enough time as he strides up to Josh and with the gun he took from Chris, hits him across the face and knocks him out cold.
Sam and Ashley gasp as Josh falls to the floor. You immediately approach Mike, snatching the gun from his hand and throwing it across the floor.
“What the hell was that, man? I told you to think before you fucking do something you’ll regret!” You poke a finger in his chest, hoping to at least intimidate him a little bit. But you’ve had heated arguments before with him, and he doesn’t ever back down.
“I don’t fucking regret it.” His tone is affirmative. It worries you that you may not be able to change his mind about it. That you’re too late, and none of your friends will trust you
You kiss your teeth. “Whatever. It’s already done.” You glance down at Josh, who looks weak and sickly all crumpled on the floor. “Someone help me move him upright.”
“No!” Ashley protests. “He’s crazy. He had us fucking chained up, and, and, chased us all around. He’s a psycho!” She hides behind Chris, who wraps an arm around her shaking body.
You can’t help how conflicted you feel about the current predicament happening. You sympathize with all of your friends and their fears. Josh went too far; you weren’t going to deny that. But he was sick. He needed help. And antagonizing him only made it worse. Besides, none of them understand the severity of your situation—only you do. But there’s no use in arguing with them all now, when they’re scared and confused.
You throw your hands up in defeat. “Okay, does anyone have any other ideas?”
Mike steps forward with a look of contempt. “I say we tie him up in the shed.”
“What? That’s insane!” Sam beats you to it, echoing the same words you were just thinking. “We just do that here! There’s no reason to leave him outside.”
Chris and Ashley share a look that has you dropping your head in your hands. “Mike’s right,” Chris says.
Ashley nods. “It’s safer that way.”
Mike glances at you, triumph shining in his eyes. “Three to two. You’re outnumbered.”
Your jaw clenches. “You’re making a mistake, Mike.”
He doesn’t respond.
You sigh. You know you’re not getting anything else out of him. Mike was stubborn as hell, even more so than you at times. “Fine. If you’re going to do this, then I’m going with you.”
They all look surprised at your offer, turning to you with a variety of quizzical looks plastered across their faces.
“Tex,” Sam’s tone is warning, as if to tell you that it’s a bad idea.
Mike scoffs. “No fucking way. You’re gonna pull some shit on us out there.”
“Look, I’m compromising, okay?” You throw your hands up in mock surrender. “You can tie him up or do whatever the fuck you want. I don’t give a shit. I just wanna be there when you guys do it.”
Chris pipes up before Mike can get another word in. “That’ll work. It’ll be better to have an extra set of hands in case Josh tries something.”
Mike eyes you down, as if trying to catch you in a lie. You keep your face still. “Fine,” he finally bites out, “let’s get to it. Before he starts waking up.”
Tumblr media
3:41
“Guys! Guys come on... seriously, this is crazy, you know?”
“Shut up.”
You trail behind Mike and Chris as they guide Josh to the shed, not bothering to help him up when he stumbles into the snowy ground.
“Give it a rest you two,” you mumble as they continue to let out all their frustration on him. “Can’t you see how out of it he is?”
Chris sighs in response. Mike completely ignores you. Again.
“Where are we going?” Josh looks all around him, once again tripping on the unstable ground. “Where are you guys taking me?”
Mike shoves him along. “Locking you up, bro.”
Josh’s eyes shift around frantically until they land on you. “You’re gonna let them do this?”
Mike scoffs. “She’s not letting—”
You interrupt Mike before he goes on another tirade. “I can’t outnumber them, bud.” You shake your head apologetically, wishing you could do more. “The best I can do is make sure they don’t try anything stupid.”
Josh’s body falls slack, as if he’s given up. You bite your lower lip as you stare at him in pity, taking in his gaunt and sickly features. You mentally kick yourself for not noticing them earlier.
Your head throbs from alcohol withdrawal and you pat your coat pocket, before holding back a sigh as your hands come up empty. Your flask was probably left somewhere back at the lodge, amongst all the chaos when you reunited with your friends.
You ignore the aching feeling that persists as you trudge along with the guys.
When you finally arrive at the cabin, Mike practically throws Josh inside. It’s barren, old and broken pieces strewn about. Mike ends up tying Josh to one of the pillars that looks like it's one more snowstorm away from breaking, pushing him roughly and taunting him as he does so.
“Stop it,” you bite out through gritted teeth, your frustration reaching its peak. You grasp his bicep, pulling him back. “Chris.” You jerk your head towards Josh, indicating he should take over instead. He quickly gets the hint and takes the ropes from Mike.
Mike tries to pull away from you, but your grip remains firm as you drag him to the corner of the cabin. “Look,” you use your free hand to rub your temples, practically feeling the stress lines on your face from how much this night has been taking a toll on you already. “He’s off his meds. Has been for a while. Cut him some slack, alright?”
He’s practically unresponsive to your plea. “He killed—!”
“Mike.”
He pauses, chest heaving.
You continue. “I told you I would explain everything. I will. Josh didn’t do that. I need you to trust me. Please.”
You can tell by the way Mike’s brow creases that he still feels uneasy about all of this. You’re hoping that Mike still has some kind of faith in you, even just a crumb. You don’t blame him too much; you know that the way you’ve been acting has seemed suspicious lately. But your circumstances are really strange ones, and it’d be hard for anyone to believe it without seeing it.
Before you can gauge Mike’s response, your conversation is interrupted by Josh’s teasing words.
“Oh and Chris? Man, you can forget about ever gettin' into Ashley's little panties after that little cock up with the whole ‘I'm gonna shoot you in the head, thing.’ She's better off with Mike over here anyways... At least he knows how to treat a lady…”
“Fuck you, man!”
“Hey, hey!” You rush over just as Chris grabs a stray wooden board, lifting it up over his head as if he was about to hit him. “Knock it off. We can’t be causing any more problems.”
Josh’s eyes narrow as they land on you. “Drunk as a skunk, drunk as a skunk! Couldn’t solve your problems, couldn’t save my sisters!”
Guilt floods through your chest as memories of that night flash in your mind again. Your tongue feels too big for your mouth, and the faint tastes of alcohol that remain make you want to clean your mouth out with soap.
“Back off.”
Mike steps up to Josh, pushing you back slightly. “Leave her alone, dude. You should be fucking thank her for trying to help your sorry ass.”
A breath of relief leaves you as you mentally thank Mike for stepping in. Josh eventually quiets down with a huff and a glare, and once you can tell he won’t be antagonizing anyone further, your friends turn to leave.
You follow them outside the cabin, but stop before you can make it more than a couple of feet away from the doors.
“You two should go on without me.”
Chris and Mike turn back to stare at you. “Listen,” you continue, “you two need to leave and cool off some steam. I’ll stay here, watch over him. Maybe I can talk some sense into him.”
Chris furrows his eyebrows as Mike crosses his arms.
“No fucking way am I leaving you with this lunatic,” Mike grunts.
“Well that’s not your fucking choice, is it?” You raise an eyebrow at him, crossing your arms to mirror his stance. “I can handle myself. And him, if necessary.”
He huffs in annoyance, but you can tell that he can’t argue with you on that.
Chris nods in reluctance, nudging Mike’s shoulder. “I’ll make sure to tell Sam you’re safe.”
“Thank you,” you say breathily in appreciation. “I’ll be back before you know it. Don’t miss me too much.”
A hint of a laugh leaves Chris’ lips as the two reluctantly head back towards the lodge.
As soon as they leave your sight, mere specks in the crisp white snow, you begin to move in untying Josh from his constraints.
“Whoa, whoa—”
“Listen to me.” Your voice is cold, and Josh is able to hold your gaze, recognizing the seriousness. “You need to run. Get as far away as you can. Got it?”
He nods, throwing his head back against the pillar. “I’m sorry, I’m real sorry…” Josh trails off, a distant look taking over his face as you deftly loosen the ropes around his limbs.
The dull gleam in Josh’s eyes has your heart clenching in your chest. He looks so lost, so broken. You wish you were able to see just how hurt he had been this past year. You feel guilty that you, or any of your friends for that matter, weren’t able to catch just how much he’d been suffering with the loss of Hannah and Beth.
If you weren’t untying his restraints, ear right by his lips, you don’t think you would have heard his next words.
“You weren’t supposed to be there…”
You think back to his adamance on getting you out of the cabin, and somehow, your heart breaks just a little more.

I want to write content for Until Dawn, but I feel like I’d be betraying the COD community since, so far, my blog only consists of COD content.
I’ve talked about more people writing for the CYF games, yet I haven’t written anything for them myself (at least nothing that I felt like posting).
I might take some time off posting and start writing headcanons and one-shots in bulk so I can just post about twice a week whenever I get back because life is getting very busy.

Chapter 2: Part 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4
I don’t remember much before passing out. I was shaken awake by some kind of figure. I felt a phantom light touch on my right cheek. I remember slightly hearing a whisper that said “I’m sorry.”
The figure was still shaking me and saying (Y/N)!” Once my eyes opened, I saw that it was Chris. He helped me stand up. I gave him a quick hug as relief. I ask “Chris, what happened? Are you okay?” I can see a bruise forming on the left side of his face.
Chris rubs the mark and says “I don’t know somebody knocked us out and disappeared.” We look around for signs of Ashley. Chris says “Ash? ASH?!?” I pick up a flashlight and walk around the room but the only thing I find is a small coin purse in a puddle of what looks to be blood. I pick it up and show him. I say “Chris...” He turns around. Chris notices what I am holding, horror crosses his face. I tell him “Not good...not good at all...” He says “Okay...We have to find her.”
We head to a door, I open it and a crow flies off. I yell “What the fuck?” I hand him the flashlight. Chris steps inside first and notices red splattered on the wall. He says “Aww shit! No!” We exit the lodge and continue our search.
Chris walks in front shining the flashlight all around. He shouts “Ash!” I cup my hands over my mouth and shout “ASHLEY!” He shouts “Ashley!” I shout “Anyone out there? Ashley?” Chris shouts “Ash? ASH?!?”
We come to a fork in the road. It looks like drops of blood leading to the left. I ask him “Chris, do you think we should follow it?” He says “At this point...anything is possible but I’m afraid to find out.” We follow the drops down the left path. Something was triggered because in the middle of the path, a figure with a scarecrow mask popped up. Chris yells “WHOA! What in the hell?” I yell “Holy shit!”
I grab onto his arm as we step closer to it. He asks “Who would do this?” I let go of his arm and walk around just in case there was any other surprises. Laying at the base of a tree was a severed pig’s head. I quietly say “Aw, shit.” I meet back up with Chris.
We continue on our search down the other path. A few yards in front there was a broken down shed. We stop just outside of it. Chris hesitates with his hand hovering over the handle. I take a deep breath and let it out. Please don’t be in there.
We enter the shed. Faint cries can be heard in the distance. Please no. We step closer to the noise, when a cage falls from the ceiling. I yell “HEY! GOD DAMMIT!” In the distance, there was a woman’s voice that said “(Y/N)? Chris?” It was Ashley.
Chris shouts “Ash we’re here!” Ashley shouts “Please...help me!” He shouts to her “We’re comin’ Ash - just keep talking to us! What happened?” I grab onto Chris’ arm to make sure we stay close.
“He tied me up...I can’t move!” Ashley tells us. I tell her “Ashley we’re gonna get you out of this, don’t worry!” She tells us “I’m really scared! Hurry, please!!!! Oh god! You have to get me out of here before he comes back!”
Once the two of us reach a second room, a light flicks on. The light revealed Ashley and Josh tied up in chains on a wall. My eyes immediately went to Josh. I can feel tears starting to form. I shout “JOSH!!”
Ashley says “Unnghh...Chris...(Y/N)? Are you there?” From somewhere in the shed, there was a menacing voice. The voice says “Hello,” Ashley screams “AHHH!” The voice continues “and thank you all for joining me.” I start shaking from terror and anger. I yell “JOSH! JOSH WAKE UP!” He stirs awake and says “Huh? What? What is this?”
Chris walks to the door that leads to Ashley and Josh and tries to open it. He isn’t having any luck. I say “Chris, hurry up please!” The menacing voice comes back on “Tonight we’re going to conduct a little experiment. A sort of test.”
Josh asks “Ashley what the hell is going on?” She tells him “I don’t know I don’t know I don’t know!” The voice explains “Now for this experiment, we’ll need the cooperation of our two test subjects...Joshua and Ashley...” Josh says “Holy shit. Oh my god.” Ashley asks “What?” I shout “No!”
“But we’re going to need more than one brave participant to help decide...which subject will live, and which will die.” The voice says. Ashley shouts “OH NO! MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH GOD! GET US OUT OF HERE!” Josh shouts “NO! YOU CAN’T DO THIS! LET ME DOWN FROM HERE YOU MANIAC!” I yell with tears streaming down my cheeks, “Stop this please!”
The menacing voice says “Please. Please please, everyone calm down. It’s all very simple. We all know who one particular person will choose to save. But this isn’t a test for (her/him).” I ask “What?” I turn to look at Chris. The voice continues “Christopher, you will find a lever placed directly in front of you. All you have to do...is choose who you will save!”
Ashley cries “Oh no...please! This can’t be happening! Oh god oh god oh god! This isn’t right...” Josh says “Shit...shit...no! Okay...okay...okay...okay, this is gonna be okay...” Chris mumbles to himself “Oh crap. Oh crap. Oh crap. Oh crap. Oh crap.”
I tell him “Come on Chris, you have to save Josh.” Josh says “(She’s/He’s) right. Dude...buddy...Let’s just think about this for a minute...” Ashley shouts “Oh my god! CHRIS! You CAN’T LET ME DIE!” I say “JOSH! Come on, Chris. Please!” Chris says while pacing looking back and forth between the two of them, “Just, just, just...Gimme a second...I, I - can’t think straight...shit...” Josh asks “Huh? Huh?!”
Chris makes his decision, he says “Ashley I’ll get you out of this I won’t let you die!” I say with fear “WHAT?!? No!” Thankful, Ashley says “Oh God...thank god! Oh thank you...thank you!” This can’t be happening! Josh shout “No! Please no!”
“This is insane...This is nuts. This isn’t happening. Chris. Please tell me this isn’t happening.” Ashley says. Chris questions himself “I - I don’t know what to do...” Josh tried pleading “Bro! Bro, we’ve been through so much, come on...I don’t wanna go out like this!” I quickly walk to the door and try the handle again. It won’t budge. I try throwing my weight against it but still nothing.
Ashley says “Chris please! I’m so scared! Please don’t let them kill us!” Josh says, frantically “I know...I know we haven’t been the best of friends lately...and I’ve been kinda messed up and everything...but I’m getting better, man...I swear!”
Chris looks at me. He gives me a small smile. He pushes the lever to Josh. I mouth “Thank you.”
There was a sound of metal grinding against metal as the track moves. The saw blade begins moving toward Josh. Chris and I look at it in terror. I say with tears streaming down my cheeks, “What? No, no, no. That wasn’t supposed to happen.” Josh shouts “AAHHH!!! NO CHRIS!” The menacing voice comes back on “Ah...I see. You have chosen...to save Ashley.”
Chris mumbles “Oh...Oh no...No, no, no, no, no, no, no...” The saw blade inches closer to Josh. Ashley shouts “OH GOD JOSH!!” Directly to Chris, he says “I thought we were FRIENDS man! I thought we were FRIENDS why would you DO THIS!?” I began banging on the door but it won’t budge.
Chris says “I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry!! THIS IS MADNESS, PLEASE!” Ashley shouts “AHH!! NO!” The saw blade inches closer. Josh looks at me and the look on his face was calm for a second. He mouths “It will be okay.”
I stop banging on the door and back away from it slowly. I step closer to Chris. Josh shouts “NO! OH GOD WHAT DID I DO!??”
The saw blade inches closer and blood starts spraying. Josh screams. I feel myself crying. I shout “NO!” Chris places an arm around me and hide my face in his chest. He wraps his other arm around me as the blade slices through my boyfriend.
Chris says “Stop it you can’t do this! Please! NO!” Ashley yells “OH NO! MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH GOD, CHRIS! GET US OUT OF HERE!” I peek around Chris’ arm as I see blood spray as the saw slices through Josh. He screams in agony. I cry and shout “NO! This can’t be real.” Chris says “Oh Josh...Josh, I’m so sorry!”
The saw blade continues spinning as Josh stops screaming. His head is hanging forward, lifeless. The lower part of his body lays on the ground. I lose it and just cry.
Chris removes his arms from around me and my hands automatically go over my mouth to help muffle the sound. He says “No no no. D - don’t look, Ashley, don’t look!” While still freaking out, she says “Why can’t I look, Chris? Please tell me he’s okay, please!” He says “Ohh...”
The door opens but before Chris runs in, he tells me “Stay here, I’ll go help her. There might be another trap.” I just nod. I stand there, frozen seeing Josh’s body. This can’t be real.
Chris gets to Ashley and begins helping her. She says “No...argh!” He tells her “I’m coming, Ash, I’m gonna get you. I’m letting you down. Shhh - stop, please - Come on, come on, let’s get you down...come on...we’re gonna get you out of here...”
Chris gets Ashley untied. She sees Josh and says “No! No!” Chris places a hand to shield her eyes. They make their way to the door. I place an arm around her to help get her out of here. She wraps them around me. I feel her arms tighten to let me know she feels safer after what she went through.
Ashley sobs “NOOOO!” Chris tells her “Shhh.” He then tells us “We gotta go, okay?”
We leave the shed. As we walk away, we all of a sudden hear a male’s voice, “Chris! Ashley! (Y/N)!” Chris has a hand on Ashley as she is still hugging me. I still have tears streaming down my face.
Ashley lets go and drops to her knees in the snow. Emily looks at her and says “Blood! Blood! Whose blood is that?” Matt asks us “Are you okay?” She asks “What happened?” I say “J - Josh...” Matt turns to me and asks “Josh, what?” I struggle to get the words out, “He’s dead -“ He asks “Wait, what?”
Chris begins trying to explain, “Right in front of us, man -“ Emily asks “What are you talking about?!”
I tell her with panic in my voice, “T - There’s a maniac -“ Matt steps a little closer, asks “Manic?” Emily says “Oh my god. We gotta get outta here.” He says “I don’t understand what happened -“
Chris says “There’s a maniac! And...he was - there was a saw...and it was either him or Ash and I didn’t know what to do!” Ashley from the ground, says “Oh god...” I tell them “Cut right through him and - spilling out fucking everywhere -“ Emily says “WHAT!? Oh my god, what!?” He adds “I - I killed him! I - I killed him...”
Surprised, Matt says “Whoa, Chris -“ I shout “OH GOD!!” Chris tells him “It was my FAULT, Matt -“ Emily says “No. No, this is insane. We need to go get help.” Chris says “Cut right in half...” Trying to calm him down, Matt says “We’re gonna figure this out, man.” He repeats “I don’t know I don’t know I don’t know...”
Emily says “Matt, we need to go get help now.” Matt looks at the three of us, “She’s right. Who knows who’ll be next, alright? We just gotta go.” She says “Yeah - yeah. It’s the only sane thing to do. We’ll go get help - -“ Chris tells her “No, you just want to save yourself.” She tells him “No, I just don’t want to make hasty decisions that get everyone killed. You can get everyone else together...and I’ll go get help. With Matt, right?” Matt says “Umm...Okay.”
He gives me a reassuring smile and a nod. They walk off to go get help while Chris, Ashley and I head back to the lodge.

The Tattoo (Hannah Washington)
The tattoo still stung ever so slightly, a reminder of what Hannah had done even when she couldn’t see the black butterfly on her arm. She didn’t regret it though. Didn’t regret the choice of design or the fact she was still hiding it from her family. Despite Beth’s support, she knew the comments that would come from admitting about the butterfly; about the reason for it. Most of the time, Beth would be her go to person, the one who knew everything first because who else could it be? But there were still times when she held back from telling her everything. Especially when it came to all things Mike. She’d had enough of her sister’s pitying looks, the attempts to talk her back from her feelings.
Hannah’s phone buzzed. She hastily picked it up and felt a small smile curving her lips. Sam had been the next best person to tell about her tattoo.
Traffic. Be there soon x
Hannah typed her own quick reply before idly rubbing just beneath her tattoo. She’d try the flippant comment of just wanting a tattoo with Sam; see the reaction to figure out if that was the best way to show it off to Mike, too. She’d play up to the pain of it, the fact she’d gritted her teeth the entire time. She’d play down the fact the butterfly had been the easiest option when flicking through the book. The one that looked like it might be the least painful, even if not quite the quickest.
She’d show Beth afterwards. Once she knew Sam’s reaction, Beth would be next. Keeping the tattoo secret from her had been harder and more awkward than Hannah had anticipated. Not as bad as keeping it from Josh, who almost always pulled her into a hug with his hand just close enough to send a spike of pain through her skin.
‘Parents,’ Sam complained a few minutes later, easing herself into the chair opposite Hannah. She looked slightly harassed, but there was the familiar smile on her face that always put Hannah at ease. ‘They are literally the worst.’
‘More complaints?’
Sam huffed out a laugh. ‘I swear, I get one more parent ask about the food for a Christmas party, I’m telling them there’s vodka.’
Hannah laughed, pushing Sam’s coffee towards her.
Sam’s answering smirk was enough for a little of Hannah’s concern about how much she was trying to do to ease a little. Sam’s plate always seemed to be full, but at the moment it didn’t appear to be overwhelming her.
‘Anyway,’ said Sam, cradling her cup in her hands, ‘what’s the emergency?’
‘Oh, um, I wanted to show you something,’ Hannah admitted, a nervousness creeping up on her that she hadn’t expected. What if Sam didn’t like the tattoo? What if she thought it was silly? Tattoos were, after all, permanent. There was no turning back.
Sam’s expression was open though, a curiosity behind her eyes that reminded Hannah exactly why she was sharing this with her best friend first.
With a soft breath, Hannah rolled up the sleeve of her shirt and shifted towards Sam.
‘Hannah!’ Sam gasped, but there was a soft laugh behind it. Disbelief, Hannah guessed. Sam gently leant across the table to take hold of Hannah’s elbow, shifting her arm so she could better see the tattoo.
‘I just wanted to try something new,’ Hannah said flippantly.
Carefully, Sam released her arm and sat back in her seat. ‘Hannah –’
‘I thought it would be an experience,’ Hannah said, rolling her sleeve back down. She’d need to wrap it again when she got home, but showing Clingfilm hadn’t felt like a good way of telling someone about it.
‘It looks good,’ Sam said, sincerity behind her voice that Hannah was grateful for. Even if Sam knew the real reason for the tattoo, she wasn’t going to shame Hannah for it. Eventually she’d remind Hannah to not do anything she didn’t want to, but the acceptance of the tattoo made it just that little bit easier to think of sharing it with Beth.
