WIP Wednesday - Pressure Cooker

Vi stumbles into the walk-in freezer and presses the door closed, leaning against it. Tears bite at her eyes and Vi hits her leg in frustration, she said she wasn't going to cry today. Vi takes measured breaths and tips her head back but it doesn't matter, the tears start coming and she can't stop them. Vi holds herself as she slowly sinks to the floor. The flowers, the music, it's all too much. Vi covers her face as she cries, puffs of white air punctuating every labored breath. She tries to block the memories out of her head; Vander teaching her how to make stuffing, patching her up after fights, his hugs, his voice, his smell. It feels like Vi's been shot, right in her chest, and everyone is so insistent on poking at it, prodding it. Being here is painful enough, he's everywhere here, every inch of these walls holds a little bit of Vander. It's painful enough, with just that, and now everytime Vi has to break the news to someone, to let them know that Vander's gone now, to see the grief cross their faces, it tears at her wound, leaves her bloodless and limp

Gravitating towards the idea that a lot of the planets in this sci fi story I’m working on were colonized ages ago and have all these lingering statues and evidence of ancestors who had been there long before. Through the centuries, people have built on top of them or simply refurbished cities so that there’s always a mix of ancient and modern in their dwellings. Very much inspired by Moebius’s art for the environment of this planet in particular--Ariadne’s homeworld, Andaseus--with the faces in the rocks and cities chiseled onto gigantic statues. Hoodoo City in the bg was redone at least four times before I could hit upon a skyline I liked *faints*

the academic influences of our own daily lives floating into fiction gives it a pleasant splash of boring grey in an otherwise colorful world (i have no idea what i'm saying). basically, this is yutasbellybuttonpiercing's attempt to expand across fandoms to reach a wider audience and make more people happy (i wish). no, but seriously, i feel like it's finally time to introduce you to some new thangs (jail for me for One Thousand Years) before i decay in correlation with my writer's block on every single neo fic i'm currently writing. hence, i am proud to announce, more sooner than later (i haven't done anything besides work and come up with concepts for these bad boys in the past 48 hours), THE FIRST NON-NEO FICS ON THIS BLOG.
