"The spider lily, also known as the Higanbana flower in Japanese culture, symbolizes death, loss, and abandonment. In some cultures, it is also associated with reincarnation and remembering the dead."

"The red spider lily (scientific name: Lycoris radiata) first appeared sometime around 700 A.D. It’s a flower native to Nepal, Korea, and China. It was later introduced to Japan and the U.S. This flower is also known as manjusaka and there are many myths surrounding it.

One story talks about unrequited love. It goes like this: the devil fell in love with a girl, but she feared him. To win her over, he imprisoned her. He assumed she would eventually return his affection for her. However, she did not and one day, a soldier saved her from imprisonment. Eventually, the devil died and when he did, he returned to hell but not without his blood splattering the earth. In the spot where he died, a red spider lily emerged — it became like a portal connecting the Earth to hell.

The perspective of the red spider lily being connected to loss and death is not helped by the environment it prefers to grow in. This flower thrives in moist, acidic soil where it has shade and lots of organic matter. It’s not uncommon to see these flowers flourishing near graves. Despite the dark and dreary associations with the flower, it is also used medicinally."

it’s hilarious that the DSP fandom is in denial over the fact aounabara had actual romantic feelings towards meikai, and NOT in fact, “fatherly” feelings.

#idk why aounabara is referred to as meikai's 'adoptive father' in the fandom wikia in the first place #uomi & mikotsu are the only offspring he has and i'm pretty sure aounabara's relationship to meikai is meant to be friendship #not a parent/kid one #one character being younger than the other one doesn't by default make the elder into the younger one's parental figure #idk i'm sure someone will interpret their relationship differently but i saw them as being friends... well. in a loose sense #considering aounabara did see meikai as #'a treasure' of a kind. given to him by satanick #he asked for a friend. so of course the very friend that was literally MADE for him disappears and falls in love with someone else #would cause the sea king to kill (or put a curse on) meikai's lover in a fit of rage #anyway. whatever #the DSP fandom is in denial about a lot of things that happen in canon #personal

I just want to know a lot about everyone in Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea, including the history of the Sea Kingdom and the Sea of Death.

What is the Sea of Death? How does it work? Why did people choose either the Sea Kingdom or the Sea of Death? How did the members join beyond Mikotsu being jealous of her sister for being chosen as the heir, Sal being traumatized by his mother's death, and Old being jealous of Tatsumiya for being entrusted with the sacred sword by their master?

So many things are left ambiguous.
