Day 13: Class Differences - The daughter of the Hand and the son of the King
The Red Keep and Flea Bottom
She had been sleeping in Flea Bottom, on rooftops and in stables, wherever she could find a place to lie down, and it hadn't taken her long to learn that the district was well named.

Enough is enough.
You’re not going to get your children to be pious by force. You’re not going to get them to be “good” by casting them into islamic school or by giving them silent treatment.
When a teenager doesn’t find love in the home, they will look for it outside. When you punish your kids for telling you the truth, you teach them to lie. When you restrict your kids, you teach them to find a way to do the things they want to do behind you. When you make dua’s against them out of anger, when you use ayat to shame them, when you put them down, they will learn to think that this is Islam. And they will hate it.
But it isn’t Islam. It’s your wrongdoing.

hi, i just wanted to say that your art is so incredibly soft and beautiful! it has this gentleness to it that i adore. i started following you recently because of a few panels you drew ages back with toadsworth and princess peach - i love their father/daughter relationship so so much and you captured it in the sweetest way. what's your thoughts on them? ❤️
Thank you Anon, that's so kind! 🥹💕 Softness and warmth are my absolute go-to when I draw. It always puts me in a peaceful mood, and I'm very glad that other people enjoy it too! 🌅
Oh I love these two SO much!! Ever since I first played Mario Sunshine when I was a kid (the first game in which Toadsworth appears, I believe :3), I've always regarded them as a father and daughter tandem. ☺️ I like to imagine that Toadsworth was the one who mostly raised her, and that they share a family bond that goes way beyond formalities and decorum. Very much like Alfred and Bruce Wayne! ✨️
My version of Toadsworth is infinitely and unconditionally fond of Peach. She's his absolute pride and joy. 🥺🥰 Although a reasonably strict and disciplined mentor when necessary, I also picture Toadsworth as being a very kind, caring and amiable gentleman, who's highly perceptive and has quite the witty sense of humor. 😄 He knows how deeply Peach cares about ther people and her Kingdom, and he's always ready to diligently assist her in any way he can. I view them as being very close and sharing a fantastic relationship, as much on the professional as the more casual side. One that's honest, healthy and good. 😌💝

It’s not about you
Lately, I’ve been meditating in order to soothe my anxiety.
In one of the meditations, there were words somewhere along these lines: “Try not to take things personally.”
And it was like my eyes had opened.
I’ve been pondering this thought for quite a while. If my family tells me hurtful words and doesn’t believe in the possibility of success for me, it’s not about me but about reflections of their fears and unrealised dreams. It’s about them never doing things they, perhaps, always wanted to do.
All their advice and the words “It’s the right thing to do” are mostly about what they think would be right for them, not for me. How they think it would be good for them, not for me.
If someone insults you, it’s not about you but about the reflection of the inner world of another person. If someone screams at you or behaves aggressively or rudely towards you, it’s about the other person, their behavior in public places, and their attitude towards other people, not about you. It’s about the level of another person’s emotional maturity and self-regulation, about a lack of upbringing, respect for other people’s personal space, and so on.
I think that people unconsciously put every person they interact with into a certain category and then behave according to how they think they should treat each category. Family / friends / close friends / good acquaintances / just acquaintances / colleagues / strangers / people we are not interested in / assholes.
And from time to time, the categories get updated, and people get rerecorded from one category to another: when we got to know a person better, something happened in our lives, we parted ways, or our views on life changed.
Of course, when people serve you shit on a plate and want you to eat it, it’s very unpleasant. But it gets a bit better when I think that the vast majority of their actions have nothing to do with me at all but reflect their inner world and their beliefs about the external world.
Goethe wrote, “Behavior is the mirror in which everyone shows their image.” ✌️

My Take on Asking and Borrowing
Children are often taught to learn to ask. Therefore, they should also be taught that it is okay to ask but not everything should be given. By asking, they learn to be dependent or dependent on other people. It should be corrected at an early age because they can will be accustomed to it if not corrected right away. Children get used to the fact that everything they ask for must be given and if it is not given, they will be made to cry or lose it. Sometimes it even leads to self-harm and destroying things. Because they think "when you ask, you must be given", so they should be taught early on that the person who is asked for has the right to decide whether to give it to him or not. It is not obligatory for those who are asked to give because there are also many personal reasons for saying no and this does not mean being selfish. Asking is more selfish because you want to take what is not yours. Asking is different from borrowing and we should both respect the decision of the person you are borrowing from because in the end they also have a need and it is not their obligation to explain. Children should also learn that sometimes we also have to refuse the person asking so they can also learn that their own needs should come first. Let us not feel guilty if we cannot give to those who ask and borrow. Let's appreciate ourselves and the things we worked for. Before giving, think first if it is right to give according to the circumstance and reason? Is the person asking incapable? Why is it necessary to ask? What can be done to stop him from begging? Even those with shortcomings and flaws have the ability to find a way to get what they want. It is more important to teach hard work and to live within your means. Often begging and borrowing is rooted in the desire to obtain things that cannot be obtained immediately. Learn to be content with what you have. If everyone learns to be content with what he has, there will be less people who unnecessarily ask, depend and borrow. If you've learned to say no, it's an important lesson that you've taught the person you rejected to work hard so they can get what they want through their own hard work. If you are the one who is rejected in your borrowing or asking, it is important that you learn to understand and respect the decision of others. You are not someone else's responsibility. You are responsible for yourself. Let's all work hard. Let's have dignity. Let's be proud of whatever we've been able to do and have achieved, but let's be humble and not be arrogant, pompous or oppressive. Avoid borrowing, lending and especially asking. Asking is poison to our character.

How to Get Addiction Treatment: Look Out for Yourself and Your Family
Tumblr media
Although it's understandable that the word "addiction" scares some people, everyone is susceptible to it, regardless of their upbringing, circumstances, or environment. Admitting that an addiction exists and getting assistance is the most important and challenging step in the entire process. What transpires though? Many folks wouldn't know where to begin seeking for assistance, let alone what to do to get it.
Finding Assistance Is Simple and Completely Private All you need is a phone or a computer to locate a treatment facility and begin your path to wellbeing.  To begin with, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, run by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, can be reached online or by calling 1-800-662-HELP in a private voicemail.
Treatment Doesn't Need to Be Expensive Contrary to popular belief, drug and alcohol treatment facilities are not extravagantly expensive, posh establishments that can only be afforded by celebrities and entertainers, full of spa-like services and IV therapy. Some of the top treatment facilities are designed to assist folks who might otherwise be unable to find care for themselves.
Knowledge Can Help You Calm Your Fears For some people, asking for assistance when they are struggling with an addiction might be the most terrifying thing they have ever done. Many people may believe that it is simpler to maintain their addiction than to leave it because they don't want to have to confront their peers, family members, or their own experiences. Despite the fact that this is an entirely reasonable concern, addiction only has one way.
Speak to a Reliable Person You can discuss this matter with someone you trust, such as a friend, a family member, or a medical expert. In healthy partnerships, people support one another during trying times. This can be any kind of relationship – a partner, friend, family member, or even acquaintance who may be experienced with something similar. Many of those who struggle with addiction problems also struggle with asking for help, but in most cases, getting that help is as simple as asking.

Today it hit me. My upbringing destroyed me. Not capable of normal conversation or meeting new people. I will always think everybody hates me. My brain just tells me these things, those nasty things about myself. The things I heard in my childhood. For years I thought everybody feels that way.

Quote
The Christian family was the bulwark of godliness in the days of the Puritans; but in these evil times hundreds of families of so-called Christians have no family worship, no restraint upon growing sons, and no wholesome instruction or discipline. See how the families of many professors are as dressy, as gay, as godless as the children of the non-religious! How can we hope to see the kingdom of our Lord advance when His own disciples do not teach His gospel to their own sons and daughters? (...) May our dear children be so well taught from infancy that they may not only escape the common vices of the age, but grow up to become patterns of holiness!
Charles Spurgeon
