Idk if you’ve already done this (newer follower and still catching up) but would you ever do a post on how you plan a post? Like what your planning process looks like with shots, poses, etc? You’re one of my favorite storytellers and I hope to get on your level one day but no idea what goes into a true story telling post

Ooooh hi hello, welcome! I don't believe I have ever gone into my process, no! but how interesting.. what better excuse! let's take yesterdays post as an example, shall we? 👀

First of all, we start with the premise/notes, which are very rough n' look like this in a word document...

Camping – the twins are fiiighting/being a pain, Oscar loses temper with em n almost says why can’t u be like ur brother?! throwing him into memories of Salton saying that to him all the time :[ he catches himself like no wait ur perfect I just gotta finish this, twins like wtf?? But robin ofc knows what’s going on with his pappy.. Oscar wanders off later n Robin sits with him, ur not like them u kno, what? Grandma n grandpa ur not the same, OUGH ;-;

2. I suppose this step changes depending on what I feel like, sometimes I'll make the poses/take the screenies first, then write the dialogue, other times I'll write the dialogue first.. I try for the latter since I can make more accurate poses, but time is usually my enemy here cos dialogue needs a nice quiet period to write lmao (let's call this step dialogue for now though)

3. Rip sims for blender, make poses, then head in game to dress everyone, set dress and take screenies, I take a LOT and choose the best ones but here're some unedited examples for you... In this case cos there was a flashback, I also had to remake Oscar/fam as a child n' whatnot, but luckily I have their old house saved so I plonked them all in an alternative save to take those.

4. Now we have our dialogue/screenies, it's time to throw it all together in photoshop, I usually edit the screenie first to fix any clipping etc, fix the lighting, sharpen it up a bit maybe.. but that's about it! Then I press my handy lil (custom made) storyboard action and end up with smth like this, to which I add the text! (this step takes the longest prolly.. cos it takes me forever to pick the screenies I wanna use my GOD 🙈)

VOILA! Once I've chosen all the screenies in the right order I go thru each of em in PS one by one to edit/add captions, then we're done! \o/

I realise this probably seems quite quick/vague or even streamlined if u wanna toot my horn lmaooo but I've spent a while doing this by now so ig I've kinda figured out the quickest way of doing it - still tho, I'd imagine the above still taking between 4-5 hours from start to finish! I usually spread these things over days/weeks in advance tho like.. during the week I mostly make poses/take screenies and write, then at the weekend I'll usually edit a bunch n' throw it all together, so it doesn't rlly feel tedious since I'm switching it up all the time/doing what I fancy.

He offered to take you to the kitchen to get food which you didn't decline. neither would I. You guys make random small talk until Jason's voice could be heard echoing through the manor yelling your name you follow the noise meeting him. “There you are come on where leaving,” he said in an uncertain gentle but stern voice.

~ He took you shopping to get all the necessary things. yes, he used bruce's card but in his defense, he gave it to him to use on you. He took you to get new clothes, shoes, a phone, and anything you asked for.

~ He struggles with discipline because you obviously just met him and he doesn't want to seem like the asshole. That is until you put yourself in a dangerous position like drinking, or smoking at a party. You guys have a nice heart-to-heart convo and told you if your gonna do stuff like that at least do it when he is there cuz it's better to have supervision and guidance than be on your own.

~ You guys definitely develop one of those close father-daughter relationships. You can talk to each other about anything where you’re looking for advice or someone to listen to.

~ Your fav uncle is Dick and ur fav aunt is Kate there just superior. don't attack me love all the bat fam.

~ Like I said earlier he is kinda lenient you can curse around him and at other people just not him, you can have a S/O but don't think for one moment the entire bat fam won't interrogate them before and pray for them if they break your heart

The raucous screams of Spurs Home fans died away. Arsenal had won the North London Derby 3-1 once more. The Gunners' and their fans' loud applause only added to the pressure on Richarlison, who has yet to score for the Spurs.

Y/N L/N stood on the sidelines, shaking her head. She disliked playing on a team because it required her to interact with others. Y/N was a former professional badminton player with the most powerful smashes and drops in the game. A year ago, she retired and focused more on "helping" other players. She had to get used to the warmth and kindness of a team since she had never been on one.

Y/N had to admit that Arsenal this season was bloodthirsty for victory, and their passion was stronger than any other EPL team. She followed Richarlison, Sonny, Harry K., Hugo Loris, and the other players into the changing room.

"Fucking hell! That was incredibly embarrassing!" The manager, Antonio Conte, yelled as he paced around the room. "How could we have allowed that to happen? It's a disappointment for our home fans as well as for London. I'm not heading to training tomorrow; I need a break from this bullshit! Come to training if you want, but I doubt you will because it appears that your training has been doing shitswork!"

Antonio Conte stormed out of the room, leaving a tense atmosphere in his wake. Y/N turned to face Richarlison, who had tears streaming down his cheeks.

"Richie, hurry up and take a shower; we need to speak about something." Y/N spoke while her arms were crossed across her chest.

Without missing a beat, Richarlison exited the locker room to freshen up.

"You shouldn’t be too rough on him." Sonny said while walking up to her.

"It's the only way he'll learn, and the only way he'll understand how cruel the EPL can be," Y/N said before heading to the garage to retrieve the car.

(In the car)

"Your passes were too conspicuous, and you were moving slowly; it took Ødegaard less than a minute to catch up to what you were doing." Y/N spoke while paying attention to the road.

Richarlison, who is used to receiving criticism, responds, "What would you know? The last time I remember, badminton never used a ball or had an exhausting effect after playing."

Y/N’s eyebrows scrunched: "Do not speak of my sport with such disgrace; you do not understand how fast you have to be on the field and how fast the shuttlecock is. And unlike you, I would actually score.”

Richarlison sighed and slumped into the seat while looking out of the car into the streets of North London.

(Y/N's office, at players compound)

Y/N opened the glass door to her office and dropped the folders and keys on the desk while Richarlison waited for her speech as always. Y/N turned around and folded her arms while leaning on the desk.

"That was shit Richie. You’ve been with the Spurs for almost 2-3 months now and haven’t even scored one goal! Your passes are shit, you tire out too fast because of your damn height, you have no coordination with Sonny, and half the time you look lost in your own head!" Y/N harshly judged.

"I know, I've been trying, but it doesn't seem to work," Richarlison said, his eyes glazing over. "This team is different; it's too much."

"Then try harder or give up. It's not the team, it's you," Y/N abruptly cut him off. "Make no excuses for actions you know you're committing. Kane was ready for the ball, and so was Sonny! You were just too arrogant to try and prove yourself."

Richarlison sighed before responding, "It’s not like that you don’t understand-"

"Oh, but I do! I know what it feels like to thirst for validation. To try and prove that you are the best. Badminton players don’t have teams, so they strive to beat their opponents. That’s what makes them dangerous and ambitious. But you, oh you, are just arrogant and believe you can beat Sonny, so you try and fail over and over and over again." Y/N expresses her growing anger.

Something shifted in Richarlison’s stance and aura. "No. You’re the one failing. You retired not because you had accomplished your goal but because you were lonely. So you decided to find a team. A team where you can feel loved."

Y/N scoffed, "Keep telling yourself that. Without me, you would be nowhere. Without me, your voice would be nothing."

Richarlison took slow steps towards her; his anger was finally emerging. "No. Without me, you would be lying in a pit of your own tears, with nothing but yourself. Alone and broken." Richarlison was very close to her face now, and his eyes showed nothing but rage. "Your sister is all the way across countries saving lives in the OR; your parents are 6 feet under the ground and dead."

"Richarlison, watch your mouth!" Y/N screamed in his face.

"Keep your voice down. Word here spreads fast, darling." Richarlison said while placing his hand over her mouth.

Y/N’s eyebrows scrunched up, and she pushed him off of her. "You asshole! You are nothing to me. How dare you speak of my family in that way! I swear I-"

With his large hand wrapped around her throat, Richarlison spun her around in less than a second and slammed her into the wall. He was breathing heavily, and his eyes were locked on hers. His lips were so dangerously close to hers that one might think it was an attempt at a kiss, but in reality, it was a release of anger.

"I am tired of your critics. Your harsh words cut too deep, Y/N," Richarlison muttered.

Y/N smirked and kept her gaze on his. "Good. The deeper it cuts, the more you learn."

"No, it’s the more I get angry. You have made me hold this rage for so long, princess. I’m ready to let it out."

"You’re pathetic, Richarlison. And so are your abilities; you'll never be as good as the team, and you'll never fit in. I can promise-"

Before Y/N could finish her sentence, Richarlison’s lips roughly smashed on hers, and Y/N’s breath hitched. She didn’t kiss back, so Richarlison pulled her body closer to his. She fell into his warm embrace, and her lips molded with his. Richarlison’s hand, which was previously wrapped around her throat, moved to her waist.

"Be quiet. Not a word from you." He growled out.

His lips moved across her neck, leaving marks all around. Her top had a straight zipper in the front, so he clamped around the zip and dragged it down to her belly button. Y/N had a job, and that job was to manage every need Richarlison de Andrade had, and this time it was his anger she would need to manage. And so she would, regardless of the cost.

Hi Zak!! This is a pretty random ask but i was just wondering if you have any tips for starting a fanfic/story? I just keep getting stuck on how to start one (I really love your work/blog 🙏 feeds my tot brain rot fr!!)

hi anon, im glad you like the stuff i make ;w; !!! and ohhh, sure i got tons of tips for that!.....so many that i actually wish i cld get u back here to ask what specifically about starting a story u'd want tips on but for now, i'll go for a general overview :D!!

cuz....to me (i.e. based on my writing process, which i'll be drawing heavily from for these tips), the act of Starting comes in three distinct steps, one after the other:

Idea Generation (what is the story gonna be about and how do i get ideas for that?)

Concept Organization/Outlining (how is the story going to be about this idea and how will i be executing it?)

Creation (GAH, HOW PUT WORDS ON PAGE!?!?!?)

so i'll give general tips for all three!!!

Idea Generation Tips

(this is the step that i personally have the least trouble with because my brain makes 5 new ideas every day. it's kinda a curse now because it leads to me having too many wips and concepts and only 1% of them gets to the Creation period jhvjhVJKSHFVHJS BUT ANYHOO, TIPS-)

Check Out Prompt Lists (super fun and easy way to get an idea! theres tons of story and fic prompts out there that you can search up here on tumblr, some of them being lists of lines of dialog or lists of AUs or scenarios. even if you dont follow a prompt exactly, they can be great at kickstarting ur brain into thinking of something related that you Do wanna pursue)

Open/Ask For Prompt Requests (if ur brain doesnt have any ideas, u can ask around and see if anyone ELSE has ideas theyre alright with you writing! my tot fics "reviews for Time's Antiquities, South Stellis | Average Rating: 4.8 Stars" and "but little do we know, the stars welcome him with open arms" were both inspired by anon asks i got!! to those anons who sent those asks, i owe u my life....but yea, maybe other people can give ideas to you! or, again, give Something that can inspire another thing in ur brain to take shape)

Just Ramble With A Friend (SO MANY OF MY FIC IDEAS started because i was just goofing off and playing idea volleyball with fandom buddies in our DMs (shoutout to sam samsspambox, z lukevonhagen, and beck beckthebeetle for being the main culprits of this). like, what started out as a joke conversation eventually makes go "oh no wait i actually wanna see that as a fic" and then boom, Idea Has Been Acquired. but fr, talking with another person makes your brain create things u never thought about before. it's both tons of fun to chat with a buddy as a sounding board, and it yields awesome concepts for stories!)

For Fanfic Specifically, Think About What You Want To See In Canon But Hasn't Happened And You Want It So Bad It's Driving You NUTS (this can be anything from missing scenes you wish were expanded on, scenes you wish went a different way, character relationships you wish you could see more of in canon, go nuts! the fun thing with fanfic is that it's a fertile playground for all the what-ifs, and a lot of my fics' ideas were simply found because i thought "man i know tears of themis is never gonna show me deep found fam moments/artem ptsd consequences after main story 6.2/mariluke, so imma make it myself" JHVSJDHF. ideas are hard to make sometimes, but brains are so good at desiring things. and all those desires? those can also be Ideas for a fic!)

Concept Organization/Outlining

(very much skippable if your writing style/personality is more receptive to free-wheeling!! im just the type of writer who always needs an outline to begin something. it helps me structure a raw idea with no shape into something clearer that i can envision a story for)

Outline A Rough Chain Of Events Chronologically (this can be as simple as three bullet points, what happens at the Start of the story, the Middle, and the End. or maybe you can go list down the portions of your fic according to the Freytag's Pyramid Plot Structure: Exposition, Inciting Incident, Rising Action, etc etc.)

Outline A Rough List Of Stuff You Just Want To Happen In The Fic (if your brain is like mine and isnt too great at chronological thinking, make a list of just all the plot points and events or even dialog exchanges u Want to see in the fic. you can organize it in the order u want later once uve put everything down)

Outline The Themes (moving away from plot, many stories are more focused on feelings or characterization or themes. so make a list of the Concepts you want to tackle. this is something i do for my fics that are more introspective, so i outline shit like "EVENT THAT MAKES LUKE INTERNALIZE SELF-LOATHING followed by EVENT THAT MAKES LUKE'S VIEW BE NOTICED BY ANOTHER CHARACTER")

Creation

(the worst part of writing....is the writing JAVFJVSDKHFDJHJ but nah fr this is the part i have the hardest time with, so here are tips that help me kickstart the word engine)

You Dont Have To Start Writing The Fic From The Beginning Of Its Story, Start Writing Wherever (confession: a good 75% of my fics are ones where the first scene i actually wrote down was not the start. instead, i just wrote the scene i was most excited to write. and usually thats somewhere in the middle! i do this cuz it makes my brain happy, and a happy brain is much easier to pull words from than a sad brain. plus, when i see the scene I Like Best already written, it gives me motivation to do the rest of the fic because oh my god i want everybody to sEE THIS ONE DANG SCENE!!! start writing the fic at whatever point you want, in whatever order comes most naturally to you, is my point. you can fill the rest in later, but hey, starting to write where you Want has gotten you Started. now you just gotta finish, and finishing when you already have something down is much easier than starting from 0)

Set Tiny Wordcount Goals. And When I Say Tiny, I MEAN TINY!!! (writing is intimidating but if you set a goal of say, 100 words written for a wip per day, at the end of one week, you'll have 700 words. at the end of two, you'll have 1400 words. at the end of a month, 3000. small goals help since it makes you do Something, and that Something will inevitably compound, no matter what goal uve set. and let urself be proud of the goals uve achieved!!! writer brain gets happy when you tell it it's done a good job at reaching a wordcount goal, and like i said earlier, happy brain is much easier to work with than sad brain)

Give Yourself All The Time You Need (i know this sounds counterproductive but sometimes....the best thing you can do for the part of your brain that wants to start creating....is waiting til it's ready. dont pressure yourself, cuz brain will get sad. dont be too hard on yourself, cuz brain will get sad. start when you want to start in the way that works best with your brain and see where things go, but be patient with yourself. sometims Starting is actually the longest part of writing a story and thats fine. it will happen. trust)

thats all the tips ive got! and of course, what will work for me wont always work for other people, so please feel free to take what you think applies to you and discard what doesnt resonate.
