are you a cool catholic or are you one of those weird “tradcath” guys? You seem pretty chill but I can’t tell
I’m not actually Catholic at all
I created this blog back when the useless-countryfacts blogs were going strong, and I tried all along to be super clear that I’m not Catholic, and if anyone thought that was uncool I’d be happy to turn the blog over to someone else, but nobody ever had a problem with it so I’m still here
and when the useless-countryfacts thing started to fizzle out some, I changed the blog name -- around the same time that @unofficial-estonia changed their name, actually (I think I got the idea from them?)
Because I’m not Catholic, I usually try to focus this blog on the actual nation Vatican City rather than ecclesial matters, but sometimes that’s a hard distinction to make, you know?

The oldest lighting rod shop in the world is Torrente Parallamps in Barcelona. It opened in 1860 and has been run by the Torrente family all these years. The shop still keeps the original furniture.

Important
Hi,
We, the useless-countryfacts community has decided to make a joint call on this topic, as this isn’t a political problem anymore, it’s a humanitarian one.
The war in Yemen has brought heavy consequences to the population, the biggest one: lack of resources. Cholera hit the country ten days after the sewersystem gave out, and the lack of food and medical assistance led to 80% of the people in great need of  humanitarian assistance and protection.
Out of 30.5 million Yemenis, 20 million are being haunted by hunger every day.
We want to change at least something, by showing you options for donation, as this is very very important and not overseeable anymore.
The UNHCR is providing the citizens with protection, humanitarian relief, medical supplies and more. Please consider donating, and if you can’t then please please reblog this.
Thank you.

can you recommend any scandinavia language blogs that post fun/interesting stuff? and do you know any in particular that focus on danish?
Panda had some suggestions for Danes/people studying Danish in this post. But honestly I don’t follow a lot of Scandinavians but the ones I can remember from the top of my head are: @svensklangblr (sw), @kristaller (sw), @polyglotswede (sw), @yazyknarkoman (sw), @whatlanguageisthis (no) and @langsources (no, but I haven’t seen her in a while (hej please come back I miss you)). Then there’s also the useless-countryfacts blogs. The Swedish one: @useless-swedenfacts is not active anymore but you can go through the archives for some Swedish culture. The Norwegian one is: @useless-norwayfacts and the Danish one: @useless-denmarkfacts. There probably are a lot more but as I said, I don’t follow a lot of Scandinavians (and like no Danes?? @ danskjävlarna var är ni?)
If you know anymore Scandinavians (Scandinavia = Sweden, Norway, Denmark) please add them!

Are you seriously from the Vatican state or even Rome?
Not from the Vatican, no. When the useless-countryfacts blogs were exploding everywhere, @official-estonia (then useless-estoniafacts) noted that there was no Vatican blog, and probably would never be one, and... well, I decided to take that as a challenge, I guess. But I do my best to be up-front about the fact that I am not, personally, a Vatican citizen, and welcome any Vatican citizens who want to help (or even take over!) to get in touch with me. One person has in fact taken me up on that offer, but I have to confess I haven’t done the best job of staying in contact with him. Note to self: do that better.

Ohhh and have you seen how some fans kinda fetishize people from other countries? The American fans especially. They constantly pester particularly famous people about how they ships them with this person from this country and some fans even sent Eurovision contestants fanart of the characters or how they insert themselves into the useless-countryfacts convos and shit like can y’all back off???
This!!! is so fucking true
Some of the fans would act so fucking annoying, they’d ask me “where are you from” and when I said “Sweden” they’d be like “OH SO THEN YOU MUST BE EXACTLY LIKE THE SWEDEN CHARACTER FROM HETALIA HAHA”
and I would die every time
like if hetalia fans met someone from a different country they’d start giggling like “haha u are from italy and italy is a character in hetalia haha what a meme” like no, shut the hell up, stop acting like my country or culture is just a reference to your anime what the fuck

Do you accept sub-national entities as part of the useless-countryfacts family?
No one is stopping you from making a blog, there is however no warranty for anyone to become part of the "ucf family". If you only do it for that, don't do it.

Howdy! I’m Isa (or Isaac, or Israel). I am 100% genuine Jewish-Venezuelan, born and half-raised in Caracas (and half-raised in the southern US bc, well, politics). I thought it was kind of a shame that lovely Venezuela had no useless-countryfacts blog, and since I have an absurd amount of time on my hands, I thought, “why not?” So here I am!
@useless-adminfacts, @useless-spain-facts, introduce me?
*Not Florida. I wouldn’t do that to myself

Boricua Fact
Instead of saying globo like everyone else, Puerto Ricans say bomba for the word “balloon” which, yes, does translate to “bomb” as well, and you can just imagine how much fun we are at parties and the airport surprises.

Do you know any Thai-related blogs? Like the useless-countryfacts or similarly.
Hello,
I’m currently not following any Thai-related blogs. There doesn’t seem to be any useless thailand facts blog based on this list.
Sorry I couldn’t be of much help, maybe our followers can provide some info.
